[Piotrowska] You've been working in
crime prevention for a year now.

[intriguing music playing]

How do you feel about that?

[inhales]

[exhales softly]

The first months were hard.

Because being a police investigator
was all I knew,

and not being one
was a learning curve.

It was difficult to adjust.

There's no pre-planning,
it's spur of the moment.

What can I say? It's a completely
different kind of work.

You go on duty, do a little
paperwork, then you sign out.

Drive on home and then...

in theory, just forget the whole day.

And how are you settling
into the team?

[inhales]

[Zawieja] Madejski has
that whole big-cop ego.

He likes to show who's in charge.

[pensive music playing]

But he's a solid officer.

Same as my husband was.

Wojtek also thought that...

That the police had a mission.

Kamińska is a bit too loud.
I don't know how she got here.

I'll say that she and Madejski
complement each other, though.

And Woźniak...

he's still new, for sure.

We're figuring each other out.

But he's a good guy.
I think I can rely on him.

I know that I was unbearable.

I know that my husband's death
messed up my head.

It was always the same thing,
solving the riddle that...

totally consumed my thoughts.

[intriguing music playing]

Why he k*lled himself.

And what did you find out?

That the man behind his death
is a ruthless trafficker.

A man with no scruples.

While Wojtek
may have committed suicide...

I know one thing...

the reason he did was Molski.

The elusive Molski.

And when you go back
to the Investigation Unit,

will you be back to working that same
Molski case?

[Zawieja] No.

[gulls calling in distance]

[Zawieja]
The case is now in the hands of CBS.

I was taken off it.

I've been told there were
many individuals

in the drug den
in critical condition.

This cheap and deadly drug is highly
addictive,

and addiction occurs
after the first use.

On the streets,
it's known as the "zombie drug."

Every day,
new fentanyl victims are found.

Commander, you can go ahead.

[Madejski] We don't know
the source of that sh*t.

Our priority
is to find where it's from.

What you will look for
is mid-level dealers, couriers,

people who push fentanyl around town.

The drug dens need to be searched

as well as other spots
where addicts hang out.

Don't arrest anybody, okay?
Talk to these people.

Try to help them. The dealers
are who we want, not the victim.

Our job is to curb the spread
of this drug in our city.

Next case. Kubiak.

[Piotrowska] When I asked you
what you found out, I meant...

did you find out anything
about yourself?

[pensive music playing]

That I wasn't able to come to terms
with Wojtek's death

because I felt like
it was my personal failure.

[sighs]

And I never fail.

It's what I'm scared of.

I was extremely withdrawn
and unstable at that time in my life.

I was a mess emotionally,
I was angry.

[Trepa] Jakub Bosko,
also goes by "Kuba," age 16,

High School Number 150.

The parents are identifying the body.

From what I've gathered so far,
he was a good kid,

didn't exhibit any behavioral issues,
had good grades, he was well liked.

And he was most likely not addicted.

At least, his parents
didn't think so.

And when I found him,
it looked like an overdose.

I'd say, it's fentanyl.

-How can you be sure?
-I don't know.

Intuition.

The pathologist will examine the body
and determine the cause of death.

There have been other similar deaths
in the past few weeks.

It's not some junkie
that's from one of the drug dens.

It's a high-school kid.

It seems like they're distributing
fentanyl at the school.

Something we should consider doing
is raiding the school

to scare the kids
so they stop using that sh*t.

-[Pietrzak] Zawieja, calm down.
-[sighs]

You know what this is?

A letter with your evaluation date.
I just got it.

So do me a favor, try to be composed
for a few more weeks, would you?

Can you bring in Madejski?

Yes, sir.

was actually positive.

-We're not going home yet.
-I have to stay a bit late.

-[girl] Hello.

Guys, I'm afraid I have awful news.

Earlier today, one of your friends,

Jakub Bosko, was
found dead, unfortunately.

[scattered gasps]

He most likely died
from a drug overdose.

[boy whispers] No way...

[Alicja] I know. I'm in shock too.

I want everyone to cooperate
with the police, okay?

into your bags,

and then I'd like you to step out

to speak to the sergeant.

and line up here, please.

-Okay, let's go somewhere else.
-Okay.

[Zawieja] Come on.

What do you have?

-Where'd you get it?
-I took it from Kuba.

-To stop him from snorting it.
-Kuba Bosko?

Yeah.

All right, I need you to come to the
police station to make a statement.

-Could you come with us, please?
-Yes, of course.

-No, just a friend.

-A good friend.
-Is this address correct?

She works with plants.

-[Zawieja] And your dad?
-I don't know him.

where exactly you got this from?

I took it from Kuba.

I didn't want him to use it anymore.

[indistinct chatter]

[Zawieja] That means
he did use some of it. How?

Did he snort it? Mix it with water?

Did he sh**t it up?

He was snorting it.

who sold the drugs to Kuba.

I'm going to give you some time
to think it over.

I have my number here for you.
You can call whenever you want.

-All right.
-Wait here, please.

I have to ask Ms. Alicja to talk
for a minute, okay?

[footsteps receding]

[door closes]

I'm actually a community worker,
you know?

I work with some of those kids,
help them.

And Kuba... [inhales sharply]

He was one of the good ones.

Getting into drugs...

-it doesn't seem like him at all.
-Kuba Bosko is the sixth overdose

that we've seen around here
in the last few weeks.

[Alicja gasps softly]

The white powder that he took
was probably the drug fentanyl,

which means that it's now
being distributed

among young people as well.

Making our number-one priority
finding out who is distributing it.

So there's something
we'd like your help with.

If you can, talk to Kinga and do
your best to get any information.

[Alicja] Mm-hm...

Who gave the drugs to Kuba,
his name would be great,

maybe his contact info, address,
or who he hangs with.

-Anything.
-Of course.

It's crucial for us to make sure that
kids aren't able to get this drug.

Yes, I know.
And I completely agree with that.

I'm going to do everything
in my power to help you.

All right, then, that's all.
I'll walk out with you.

Go ahead.

[ominous music playing]

-Have a good night.
-Thank you. You too.

Come on, Kinga.

Tell me the truth, at least.

Someone was selling those drugs.

I think you know exactly who.

If you really wanted
to figure it out,

I'm sure that you could.

You're not saying it was Kamil?

I didn't say any name.

[Woźniak] Look, Kamińska,
it was just a pipe. No big deal.

I wasn't going to arrest
some brat for that.

[Madejski] I used to go to
that school, can you believe that?

And I was definitely a brat
just like all of them.

Man, I gave my poor mother
a hard time.

-How'd you grow out of it?
-Well, I joined the police.

[Woźniak laughs]

After today, I need to get wasted.
Who's coming with me?

[Woźniak] No, thanks, I'm tired.
You can count me out.

Maybe Ms. Detective will drink
with the peasants tonight?

Even if I wanted to, I can't.
Thanks, though.

Mother, daughter,
grandma, father-in-law.

[inhales sharply, then exhales]
Life things.

[Kamińska] Madejski!

-To the Rag?
-Yeah, why not? Bye.

-[Kamińska] See you.
-See you.

-Hey, detective, need a lift?
-No, thank you, I'm good.

-You all right?
-[sighs] Yeah, I'm fine.

-Okay, later.
-See you.

[tense music playing]

[on voicemail] This is Kamil.
You know what to do.

Call me as soon as you get this,
Kamil. I have to talk with you.

I am heading over to you.
Hope that you're at home.

[indistinct chatter]

[pensive music playing]

[Zawieja] Hey there.

-Hot, hot, hot!
-I got it. I got it. Here. Watch it.

All right.

So when will you
finally stop pretending?

-What?
-When will you announce

-that you're together?
-Yeah, you guys are dating!

Well, you know what?
That's exactly what I keep saying.

-Come on, you guys. Leave me alone.
-See?

-That isn't even your business.
-Janek, what are doing?

Janek, what are you doing?

Uh, I was taking the trash out.

-Where is it?
-No, Tuesday is trash day.

-Let's have some dinner.
-Eat with us. Let's eat, Janek.

No, Wojtek, thanks. f*cking hell.

-f*ck.
-[Zawieja] Wait.

I got this.

-[Janek groans]
-[Zawieja] Okay.

I don't always know
what day it is either sometimes.

That's right.
We all forget like he did.

Eat your dinner, Hania.

Can I?

Hmm?

See? Told you.

This is it how it would be.
It'd be nice.
