-Hi, Gerald.
-[shrieks]

Sorry. I'm just excited.

I'm expecting a package.

Must be an important package.

Hold these.

-That's not it.
-[box squeaks]

Not this one. Uh-uh. No.

-Okay. Um...
-That's it!

That's the Super Honk 3000.

Say what now?

It's a new horn for my scooter.

It makes the most beautiful sound ever.

Does it sound like crisp mail
being dropped into a mailbox?

Or an envelope opening?

Or a stamp being licked?

[licks]

Nope, even better.

I can't wait to show Mom.

Nothing's more beautiful than mail.

Mom, I got my new scooter horn.

That's great, Tag. [coughs]

Oh, no. Mom, are you sick?

Me? Sick?

No, no. I can't be.

It's my day off from the blimp
and I've got lots to do.

No way. You're staying in bed.

If I'm in bed, nothing gets done.

What if I do your mom jobs?

I can be you for a day.

But what about your scooter horn?

It can wait.

When I'm sick, you tell me
I need to slow down to get better,

so you need to do that too, young lady.

Thank you, Tag.

So, what can I help with first?

Can you help Paw with breakfast?

He always pooches the eggs
and I always butter the toast.

Consider that bread buttered.

And here.

If you need anything,
you can ring this little bell.

-[rings bell]
-Thanks, Tag.

[bell rings]

Can I have a cup of juice, please?

Barkers, important announcement.

Mom is sick in bed,
so today, I am Mom.

Why do you get to be Mom?

Yeah. We're older.

Well, if you wanna split up
all of Mom's jobs, we can do that.

Uh, you can be Mom.

Fine by me.

Paw, I'm reporting for toast duty.

[dings]

I already started.

I figured I'd stay home
from work and help out.

No way. I can handle it.

Pooched eggs with
buttered toast is served.

Mom usually cuts my crusts.

Mom knows I prefer extra crust.

[both] Thanks, Tag.

See, Paw?
I got this under control.

-[bell rings]
-Huh?

Mom's juice!

Thank you, Tag.

[sips] I'm feeling much better.

You should go install
your new scooter horn.

I don't think so, Mom.

Now hand over that list of jobs.

Okay.

"Fix the leaky faucet, sweep up the fur,
and feed Yip."

I'm on it.

Faucet...leaky no more.

The toast.

Mom, I need help.

Gilber, Mom's sick.

Mom, can you help me?

Mom needs her rest, remember?

Thank you, Tag.

So anything you need
Mom's help with, ask me.

I need help with my diorama
for Tree Club.

I need to find my juggling ba*ls.

Help me first.

-Me! Me! Me!
-Me! Me! Me!

Guys!

As Mom would say...

Um...

Mom, what would you say?

[whispers]

One thing at a time.

Forest diorama finished.

What do you think?

I think it looks like a weird salad.

And you used way more glue
than Mom does.

Tag, I have to do a presentation
at Tree Club.

Don't worry.

You head to Tree Club and
I'll drop this off after the glue dries,

because that's what Mom would do.

Thanks, Tag!

Right, your lost juggling ba*ls.

Hurry, Tag,

the juggling competition starts soon,

and Mom always knows where to look.

Got two!

Uh, getting there.

Ish.

Oh, good.

I just realized I forgot
to make a salad for dinner.

Oh, could you get the ingredients
from the store and whip one up?

Salad. On it, Mom.

And don't forget to bring Yip.

Forget Yip? [chuckles]

Of course I wouldn't forget Yip.

Totally would've forgotten Yip.

Well, let us start with some lettuce.

[chuckles] Get it, Yip?

Aw.

Tag's scooter, comin' through!

[horn meows]

-Is that a cat horn?
-Sure is.

Since we're spending the day
with Kit learning about cats,

I wanted to make my scooter
a little more, you know, catty.

Neat.

I can't wait to learn
what it's like to be a cat.

Neither can I.

Or as cats would say...

[horn meows]

[brakes screech]

Why'd you stop?

Why?!

Why?!

But also, why?!

[Tag] Frank, Beans.

Is everything okay?

If everything was okay,
would we be shouting?

I can't stop shouting!

So, that's a "no"?

Look at our tree.

It's all scratched up.

What happened?

I'll ask the questions, thank you.

Because I'm...

Detective Frank.

Frank, your eye is so big.

Why?!

It's the magnifying glass, Beans.

To examine clues.

Because Detective Frank will get
to the bottom of this mystery.

Where were you five minutes ago?

We were at the Big Bowl Diner
eating goat bran.

See? Scooch even has a little
on his face still.

[Frank] Hmm...

Checks out. Beans,
are you writing these clues down?

No. But I can paint them.

[Scooch] Whoa!

Impressive.

Well, good luck, guys.

We don't need luck.

We need clues.

All right. So we're done here?

You're free to go.

Hey, Frank, look!

I got a big eye, too.

[chuckles]

[horn meows]

Cool horn.

Be down in a sec.

[grunting]

Whoa! What was that?

Oh, that? That's purr-kour.

It's kinda my favorite way to get around.

Oh! I got you two something.

-You got us presents?
-Sorta.

I tried to bury them,
but cats aren't great diggers.

Uh, what do they...?

How do you...?

They're cat ears.

Go ahead, put 'em on.

I figured if you wanna know
what it's like to be a cat,

you gotta look like a cat.

Whoa! Thanks, Kit.

Well, what are we waiting for?

Let's do cat stuff.

All right, hop in.

Let's go, dogs, go!

Nah, we don't need that.

Cats don't drive scooters.
They travel by paw.

Go, cats, go.

[panting] Wait... [pants] up!

We made it.

I have to sit down.

This is the perfect spot to teach
you two some cat basics.

Like purr-kour?

Not quite.

If you're gonna be a cat,

first, you gotta sound like a cat.

-Okay, say, "Me."
-[both] Me.

-Say, "Ow."
-[both] Ow.

Now put it together. "Meow."

-[howls]
-[moos]

Uh, try it again.

Meow.

[barking]

We'll work on it.

Beans, did you find any clues yet?

Not yet.

Well, then, look harder.

[strains]

Looking harder hurts my face.

Beans, I found a clue.

Whoever scratched up
our tree left this fur.

[Beans] Hooray, Frank!

You brilliant detective, you.

[exclaims, sighs]

It's just your fur.

Hmm. Oh.

Maybe we should ask
some other dogs if they saw anything.

That could give us a clue.

That's a great idea!

I am so glad I thought of it.

Good thinking, Frank!

All right, cats,

you ready to learn how to pounce?

Watch this. First, creep along.

Then, pounce!

[both] Whoa!

Now you two give it a try.

[both] "First, creep along."

Whoa! [grunts]

I creeped too fast.

Whoa.

I forgot to pounce.

Give it another shot.

But this time, picture the perfect
tennis ball on the other side.

To catch it, you have to play it cool,

sneak up on it, and then...

[grunts]

[gasps] I did it!

You're mine, invisible tennis ball.

[yelling]

[Scooch grunts]

Oops.

I over-pounced.

[all laugh]

Okay, Paw.

I'm only gonna ask you this once.

Did you see anyone by our tree lately,

and if so, can you tell us
what they look like?

Uh, sure.

He was, um...

[Beans] Oh, oh, oh, hold on.
Hold on.

I gotta get my paintbrush.

Well, he was kind of short.

And he had a long pointy nose.

And long floppy ears.

-[chirping]
-What are they saying?

He had scruffy yellow fur.

And he had a green collar
and funny little glasses.

Is this the guy?

Yes.

This is most certainly the dog
I saw by your tree.

Well, who is it?

We're on the lookout for this dog!

Beans, that's me.

All those dogs were describing me.

Why, yes!

I see you by the tree all the time.

So do I.

That's because I live there.

[sighs] We need to keep looking.

Come on, Beans,
let's go back to the tree.

The bad guy always returns
to the scene of the crime.

If you wanna be a cat,

you gotta learn how to climb.

Finally, something I can really do.

[grunting]

Come on, Scooch.

You got this.

Um, I'm a bit of a scaredy cat
when it comes to heights.

Just take your time.

[grunts]

I did it!

[sighs] What a workout.

Climbing isn't for everyone.

But I think you're really gonna
like the next activity, Scooch.

Um, Kit, what are you doing?

Taking a catnap.

Yes! I'm so good at taking naps.

How about more climbing
or pouncing or going fast?

The reason cats
are able to do all that stuff

is because we take catnaps.

It recharges our energy.

I love being a cat.

[snoring softly]

Is the nap over yet?

[sighs]

I don't see any bad guys returning
to the scene of the crime, Frank.

[sighs] Neither do I.

We're never gonna solve this.

We talked to every dog in Pawston

and nobody saw a thing.

We've talked to every dog except for me.

[gasps] Maybe I did it!

What are you talking about, Beans?

Oh, it's all coming back to me now, Frank.

I was playing my violin,

even though I don't know
how to play the violin,

when the alien spaceship
landed on our tree,

and the aliens said,
"Take me to your leader,"

but in alien language.

And I said... [babbles]

...which in alien language means,

"Well, why don't we have
a party instead?"

So then I brought the aliens to our tree

and we had a dance party. Hah.

But all the dancing must have
made our tree really itchy,

because it said, "I'm really itchy,"
but in tree language.

So I said, "Shukka-shukka-shukka,"

which means, "Don't worry, Tree,
I'll scratch you," in tree language.

And the tree said, "Ooh, a little lower.

Ooh, yes, that's the spot."

So then I scratched
the tree some more,

and then that's how it happened.

It's the only explanation
that makes sense.

See? That catnap gave me
so much energy.

[grunting]

Me, too.

But I'll stick to walking.

And I'm going to show you
my favorite cat thing of all

at the coolest, cattiest
place in Pawston.

There are catty places in Pawston?

Uh-huh.

And this one is almost as cat-tastic
as my favorite place in Meowbuquerque.

Here we are.

The perfect tree for scratching.

[both gasp]

[Tag] Wait, Kit.

This isn't just any tree.

This is the tree
where Frank and Beans live.

This is someone's house?

Oh, no. I had no idea.

I feel awful.

[Frank] We solved the case.

Turns out Beans scratched the tree.

All the clues are there.

Beans, you didn't do it.

Wait, are those aliens?

Yes. And they might come back

and make me scratch up the tree again,

which is why I'm leaving forever.

Actually, I was the one
who scratched up your tree.

[both gasp]

I'm really sorry.

Back in Meowbuquerque,
cats use trees as scratching posts.

Well, the good news is,
you don't have to leave, Beans.

The bad news is,
our tree is still scratched up.

I'll find a way to fix this.

You mean we'll find a way to fix this.

Yeah, cats stick together.

They're cats now?

What is happening around here?!

Uh, what if we plant a new tree?

It'll be ready in five years.

Or what if we turn the tree
into a work of art?

[both] Yeah!

All right, time to put
those cat skills to the test.

Go, cats, go!

Paintbrush pounced!

Climbing to get more paint!

And now, I'll use my cat-like reflexes!

Meow!

Meow!

[Frank] Wow.

I look so dashing.

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh.

That's, "I like it," in Beans language.

Thanks, cats.

I guess I won't be doing
any more scratching

till I get back to Meowbuquerque.

You might not have to wait that long.

Okay, Kit, you can open your eyes.

Is this what I think it is?

Go ahead.

Give it a scratch.
