In the Human Realm, 13-year-old Irish-Thai American optimist Molly McGee arrives in her new hometown of Brighton, only to discover that her new house is already occupied by a grumpy ghost named Scratch, who curses Molly in an attempt to scare her away, but this backfires, forever binding him to her.

- Nope!

(intriguing music)

So, where we going?

Ice cream, sticker shopping? Ooh!
(gasps)

A race between a tortoise and a rabbit

where the plucky tortoise wins
with her unflappable attitude?

we were taking her to the dentist.

(growls)

- What?
- (dramatic sting)

- (grunting)

(in deep voice)

(sinister sting)

(in normal voice)
He is a tooth with teeth!

on his teeth, or himself?

- MOLLY: No, no, no.

- (both grunting)
- I thought you meant "dessert,"

'cause once you say it,
you have to have it,

so I was gonna wait
till after Molly went to the dentist.

- Also, let's get dessert after this.
- No!

(both grunting)

Moll, what's it gonna take
to get you off of me and in there?

Nothing, you'd have to remove
the part of my brain responsible for fear.

- Oh, well, that I can do.
- MOLLY: What?

(in distorted voice)
As Chairman of the Ghost World,

I curse you, Molly McGee,

to spend the next 24 hours

completely fear free!

(lion roars)

Ooh.
(laughs)

(sighs)

Hey, you don't scare me, buddy.

(clicking tongue)

- (in normal voice) Et voilà.
- A curse?

What? They hardly ever backfire.

You know I'd love to spend hours

braiding and unbraiding those tassels.

It comes in lime.

Sometimes a room just needs
that pop of color.

I was ever afraid of Toothy.

I mean,

that defies the laws of nature?

Okay, Scratch, here's the deal,

I've got 22 hours and 48 minutes
before this curse wears off.

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen

(school bell rings)

- (loud thud)
- (snorts)

Hello, Mr. Bates,
I just wanted to tell you

I won't be attending
your wood shop class today or ever again.

(in angry voice)
What?

- (uneasy music)
- You sure you wanna--

The subject matter
holds no interest for me.

- (Scratch grunts nervously)
- Just absolutely none.

- But--
- Think this through, Moll.

And frankly, my parents really do not need

another poorly-crafted bird feeder.

(bird chirping)

- (thuds)
- (bird yelps)

(bird chirping)

(seething)

It's funny, I used to fear
your expl*sive temper, but not anymore.

(chuckles)

(whispers)

(splutters, grunts angrily)

(strained grunt)

(angry grunt)

(shouts angrily)

(clicking tongue)

but now, I see it as the perfect time

I used to be afraid of.

(upbeat music)

Hmm... it is nowhere near as catchy
as the other one

but keep using it, saturate the market,
I'm sure it'll catch on.

everything turned out okay.

(gasps)

facing your fears even if you're scared.

(breathes deeply)

but I've learned my lesson.
