Welcome to your new favorite game show.

In this episode, three teams
are going to try and cross this study.

It's a great place to open a book
and learn a few things.

Today's lesson? Don't fall.

Why? Because the floor is lava!

[laughs]

Oh, I love it when that happens.

[Rutledge narrating] In this episode,
we're taking a second stab at the Study,

possibly our trickiest room and definitely
the room with the most yetis.

There are an endless number of paths
to reach the exit,

but in the Study,
every major obstacle requires teamwork.

-[Shana] Don't fall!
-[Annie] No!

[woman screams]

I guess our last batch
of contestants didn't get the memo.

Check out this path.

Make your way to the cargo net where
a teammate's assist from the Africa desk

is all you need to cling like a pro.

Or try this trail,
a traverse across the wall of sconces

to a tippy canoe
that requires upper body strength

and a little help from your friends.

Players have tried
these obstacles solo and failed,

but it didn't stop us
from making the room even harder.

There was a final landing box
by the exit and it was very helpful.

Jump! Do it!

But now it's gone.

Can anyone make it
across the Study: Level Two?

Our first team
was in a fraternity together,

but the bonds of brotherhood
have extended beyond campus.

Meet Jugal, Jordan, and Jerry.

We've been living together for
the last few years, since college,

and now we're just wreaking havoc in LA
since we graduated.

LA is the place to be
for young 23-year-olds.

We're havin' our fun.

[Jerry] Win or lose, no matter what,

we're definitely the hottest team
in the competition.

Yeah, and we're probably
the most likable, to be honest, at the...

You know, like,
we're friends with everyone.

Look at our faces.
Look at how friendly we are.

[all laugh]

And as much as Jordan tries
to deny being a broey-bro...

Yeah, we're all bros
at the end of the day.

Our main strategy
is just to win, honestly.

We're gonna win.

Here's a course
they never offered in college.

The rules are simple.

Each player across is worth one point.
The team with the most points wins.

Go quickly, because once you start,

the stairs at the exit door
will slowly sink into the lava.

And most importantly, don't fall in,
because the floor is...

[all] Lava!

Ah! That is lookin' deadly.

[laughs]

Are you gonna go for the rope?

I'mma come this way.

[Jerry] Hey, take your time, bro.

[Rutledge narrating] Jordan,
leading the way on to the wall of sconces.

So how is it? Can't hang on to it?
Careful. Careful.

-Don't grab these.
-Yeah. [chuckles]

Good call.

And he's unleashed the cargo net!

[Jerry] I like that.

With the net down,

players who leap their way over couches
and chairs to the globe

can now get to the Africa desk,

or players can still use the first canoe
to get to the desk.

It's faster, but trickier.

-There you go.
-[Jugal] Uh...

Careful.

That foothold is only two inches wide.

One false step and it's frat boy down!

-You got it.
-You're good.

-That's making it worse and worse.
-Man, careful.

Also, those stairs
are probably going to start going down.

Jerry and Jugal
realizing the longer they wait,

the harder the course gets.

Uh...

[Jerry] You got that.

I think you can slowly go down to it.

Jerry getting hazed by the lava.

Jerry, cranking furiously
while his frat brothers watch.

-The canoe is down!

Phew, I'm beat just watching.

This is the first time
any team has lowered the first canoe.

Will that make the course easier?

Can you slowly make it through?

Hey, that canoe's unstable, so be careful.

[Jordan] Ooh!

Oh, Jordan, not liking what he felt.

[Jerry] Yo, Pass it up if you can.

Jerry, eyeing the exit door.

He could help Jordan across the canoe
if he helps steady it,

but it looks like
he's going to go for the exit door.

A major violation of the bro code.

[Jugal] Let's go, Jerry!

Hold on. Get to the stairs.

Meanwhile, Jugal has still
yet to move from the entrance.

Grab two hands and swing. Swing!

He's certainly happy
to give advice, though.

[Jerry] Leg lifts!

If Jerry's teammates
were on the Africa desk,

they could push the canoe.

Use the core!

But instead,
Jerry's trying to swing it all alone.

You got it! You got it!

And now the first stair
is gone! This jump just got a lot harder.

[grunts]

Let's get it, baby.
You got it, baby. Come on!

[grunts]

Jerry!

Frat's all for Jerry.

Jerry tried to go it alone,
but ended up throwing a solo pool party,

only this pool was made of lava.

A major party foul.

No!

And so his run is bro-ver.

No!

All right, let's go, Jug.

-We gotta do it for Jerry.
-[Jugal] Let's go.

Jugal, finally scrambling into the game.

-What do you got?
-[Jordan] I'mma start movin'.

Keep movin'. I'm gonna slide this way.

-[Jordan] Whoo!
-Jugal, reaching for the chandelier,

but at three feet away,
it's just out of his grasp.

[Jordan] This thing is slippery.

[chuckles nervously]

Jordan, facing the wrong direction.

[grunting]

Jugal's across the 10-foot gap,
landing somewhere in Egypt, it looks like.

Hey, hey, hey!

Jordan, not...
Keep one hand on and slowly turn.

Hey, can you grab this and stabilize me?

Jugal, now helping out
with his arms instead of just his brains.

That's the key to this room. Teamwork.

[Jordan] All right, all right.

[Jugal] Let's go.

-Come on.
-You got it. Should I just go for it?

Jordan looking very unsteady
on that canoe.

-I'mma turn around slow. I'mma crawlin'.
-Ah!

Bro, my goodness.

[grunting]

[Jugal] Come on.

[Jordan] I got a wedgie.

Now Jordan is
an honorary member of Psi-Oops-Alon.

Jordan tried to slide across the canoe,

but it was just too much
for Jugal to hold.

Jordan lost his balance and he went
off campus and straight into the lava.

Argh!

It's all up to Jugal now
and without his brothers to help him,

this will be a very tricky pledge task,

and to make matters worse,
both stairs are now completely gone!

All right, here goes nothing.

[grunts]

Jugal's trying to do it all alone.

If only he had a teammate to help him.

Now, a fraternity of one.

Look how far that gap is.

It's a bubbling six feet
from the canoe to the doorway.

That lava is angry.

His arms have to be burning.

His grip has got to be slipping!

[grunts]

Oh, no! Jugal is down!

And with that,
they have gone bro for three.

The Bros came in confident.

Jerry went without a wingman
when he took a solo route to the door

and wound up fraternizing with the lava.

Jordan's canoe trip
worked out worse than Deliverance.

And without his brothers to help him,
Jugal gave it the old college try,

but he flunked out of the course
on his final jump.

[all laughing]

I'm so mind-blown right now.

Dude, we suck.

[all laugh]

Don't be
so hard on yourselves, fellas.

You're still in first place...
with zero points.

But hey, that was a level two
post-doctorate study in lava.

Next up, we've got three
San Diego-based wellness consultants

who are addicted to social media.

Say hello to the SD Babes.

-Hi, I'm Keara.
-[camera shutter clicks]

-Hey, I'm Kayleigh.
-[camera shutter clicks]

-Hi! It's Olivia!
-[shutter clicks]

We're the SD Babes because,
well, we're from San Diego.

We kind of all met through Instagram,

but mainly through
different wellness events in San Diego.

Every morning,
I tongue scrape and brush my teeth.

I tongue scrape, too. Yup.

There's a lot of bacteria.
You want to get that off.

And then I drink salt water.

It comes from deep in the sea

and it's filled with
thousands of minerals,

and then I begin my day after that.
[laughs]

I teach fitness classes full time.

I'm normally up at 4:00 a.m.
and I'm running to go teach spin.

I kind of accidentally
nicknamed Keara "The Savage."

I'mma take it! I'm "The Savage!"

[Kayleigh] Olivia and I do yoga.
That's going to be really helpful

for keeping our balance
and not falling in the lava.

If we win, I think we'll definitely have
a victory smoothie.

Olivia's stretching out
to the chess table,

her yoga training already coming in handy.

Olivia's throwing
cushion to the wind!

[Olivia] This is a really long way

I'm trying to decide
if I just fly or jump.

This course is much easier if you can fly.

[Keara] You should go to the table,

'cause even if you hit the table
with one foot, jump on to the couch.

[Keara] Just belly flop on to the couch
if you can't make it.

Yoga enthusiast Olivia,
loosening up before this challenging leap.

Wow! It's a double jump!

Olivia couldn't stop her momentum,
but she didn't have to.

She just kept jumping, and bam!

This flying yogi
lands right into the couch potato pose.

And now she's facing her mortal enemies,
the cushions!

Not on her watch, cushions. Not today!

-You got it, Keara. You got it.
-Whoo!

This is a lot harder than I thought.

The Bros managed
to lower the first canoe,

but Jordan couldn't make it across.

Keara, trying the aerial route.

[Kayleigh] Whoo! Good job!

You got it.

Hold on. I'm gonna push it again!

One more time. One more time. Go! Go!

Now, Keara could easily use
that crank, but she hasn't found it.

[Keara] That was really scary.

-[Olivia] Good job, Kayleigh!
-You got it.

Oh, my gosh.

There are eight rungs
in that canoe.

Kayleigh's past the halfway mark.

Good job! Good job! Yeah, babe, let's go.

Yes, good job. You got it!

[Kayleigh] Grab my foot.
Okay, push me back.

Whoo!

Wait, gimme a second.

Whoo!

Gimme your hand.

[Olivia] Pull her. Pull her. Okay.

As professional wellness consultants,

Keara and Kayleigh
both know the key to good health

is not falling into lava,

and they worked together
as a perfect team to make that happen.

Olivia's looking to reunite
with her friends on the Africa desk

via the cargo net.

She needs to hurry.
The stairs are going down.

Remember, both Jerry and Jugal

were unable to make it
to the doorway from the canoe.

and her foot still hit the final step.

Thank goodness it was still there,

and with that, the SD Babes
have moved into first place,

but they can't kick back
and have a shot of wheatgrass just yet.

There's still one team
left to go after them

and they need to get points on the board.

[Kayleigh] Wait, there's a crank here.

[Keara and Olivia] Yes! Yes!

Keara and Olivia, jumping for joy

like they've been friended
by Kendall Jenner.

[Kayleigh] You guys can do it!

This is real teamwork,
but can they make the dream work?

Should we go one at a time?

[Keara] It's really slippery.

I'm gonna stay

is going to be enough in this game.

I'm satisfied with how we did.
I'm not gonna lie.

I feel like we really
proved ourselves in this game.

I mean, we came in as three blonde girls,
all dressed in pink. [laughs]

the Bros have been axed like body spray,

have moved into first place.

But there's still one team left.

Last up is two US Naval Academy grads
and a civilian

who call themselves the Gain Squad.

Jordan, Christina and Sam,

Me and Christina
met at the Naval Academy in 2008.

We've been friends ever since then.

We got to meet Sam
when we came out to San Diego.

We've all collectively been friends
for the last six or seven years.

Team Gain is the name of the fitness team
that I had at the gym that I work out at,

and we all had
amazing fitness transformations.

-I mean, look at that tricep.

Usually in the morning have egg whites,
get a good Shake Weight in,

typically just using one Shake Weight.

Then at lunch,
get a double Shake Weight in.

I usually get one more

Jordan's recently out of the Navy,

but he's just joined the Air Force,

flying across the lava to the Africa desk.

Jordan, lowering the canoe.

Remember, the Bros lowered the canoe
and it actually worked against them,

but Keara and Kayleigh kept the canoe up
and got across just fine.

Sam, be careful with that balance.

and that first stair
is starting to sink under the lava!

using naval intelligence to chip in.

Jordan, leaping onto the last canoe.

The first stair, now completely submerged!

going with the push technique

that worked so well for the SD Babes,

as opposed to the solo technique
that worked so poorly for the Bros.

to get across to tie.

great position to get everyone across,

but time is a factor now.

if they're gonna sink the SD Babes.

Jordan has to scramble
as lava covers that second step.

You can't swab that deck, sailor.
That's lava.

[Christina] Let me switch sides.

-Yeah.

Now, it's all up to Sam.

He's gotta reach the exit
in under 45 seconds.

Oh! Sam almost lost it there.

-You got it, Sam.
-[Jordan] Easy, easy.

Once again, the years of
Shake Weight training have paid off.

[Christina] Yup, yup, yup!

Jordan, pushing hard.
Time is ticking away.

He's got less than ten seconds now.

Both the Gain Squad

got all three players across

and both teams did it
within one second of each other.

But only one team can win $10,000
and the Volcano of Victory.
