ELINOR: Circus Tricks.

ELINOR: Whoa!

OLIVE: Hey Elinor, look at this!

[gasps]

This is going to be a fun circus.

ARI: Yeah, it's gonna be wheelie great.

Get it? Wheelie great?

ELINOR: [giggles] I get it, Ari.

Wow, a circus in my own backyard? This is a dream come true.

I can't wait for all our friends to come over and see our circus tricks.

One, two, three!

[gasp] I did it!

OLIVE: Yay! [giggles]

ELINOR: Thank you, thank you.

I've been practicing all week.

ARI: Me too, whoa!

Whoa! Ah!

[grunts]

I'm okay!

[grunts]

MEDHI: Hey Elinor, my Mom gave me this big blanket to use as our circus tent.

ELINOR: Oh, this will be a perfect roof.

We just need to hang it over us somehow.

KOA: How's that gonna work, Elinor?

It's so floppy.

OLIVE: Yeah, how are we going to get our circus tent to stand up?

ELINOR: Oh. I'll just tie it to the tree.

[grunts]

Pass the blanket up to me, Olive.

OLIVE: Okay, but be careful Elinor.

ELINOR: I just can't quite reach.

[gasp]

Ouch.

OLIVE: Elinor!

ARI: [gasps]

OLIVE: Are you okay?

ELINOR: I'm not sure.

MR. RABBIT: Elinor! What happened?

ELINOR: I fell out of the tree and hurt my arm.

MR. RABBIT: Oh, hunny-bunny, that's too bad.

But we're right here to take care of you.

RANGER RABBIT: Try to stay still, Elinor.

Now let me see.

That doesn't look too bad.

OLIVE: Is Elinor going to be okay, Ranger Rabbit?

RANGER RABBIT: Yes, Olive, she'll be fine.

But we'd better get her arm checked out by the doctor.

ELINOR: Can Olive and Ari come too?

RANGER RABBIT: Sure they can.

Come on kids. Let's go see Dr. Fox.

DR. FOX: Hey, Elinor.

I heard you hurt your arm.

ARI: She fell out of a tree, Dr. Fox.

OLIVE: While we were setting up our circus tent.

DR. FOX: A circus?

How cool is that? I love a good circus.

Well, don't you worry, Elinor.

We're going to get you all fixed up.

Can I have a look at your arm please?

ELINOR: [gasp]

DR. FOX: Okay, then... How about your ear?

ELINOR: My ear? I didn't hurt my ear.

DR. FOX: Oh, no?

Well it's always good to check just in case.

Hmm, what's this?

ELINOR: [gasp] A lollipop!

OLIVE: How did a lollipop get behind Elinor's ear?

DR. FOX: Just a little magic trick.

ARI: Magic? I didn't know doctors were magicians!

DR. FOX: [giggles] I'm just a magician for fun, Ari.

Doctoring is my real job.

Do you mind if I have a look at your arm now, Elinor?

ELINOR: Um, okay.

DR. FOX: Does this hurt?

ELINOR: Ow, yes, a little.

DR. FOX: Sorry. Does this?

ELINOR: No.

DR. FOX: Good. So Elinor, your arm is going to be fine,

but the bone inside might have a very small break.

I won't know for sure until we take an X-ray.

ARI: X-ray! Sounds like a space thing.

[alien voice] We are aliens from Planet X-ray.

DR. FOX: [giggles] Actually, an X-ray is a very cool earth thing.

It's a picture doctors can take of the inside of your arm, so we can see your bones!

OLIVE: We learned all about bones in school, Dr. Fox.

Our bodies have hard bones inside of them, and that's called our skeleton.

DR. FOX: That's right, Olive!

Your skeleton is made up of your bones, and that's what an X-ray can see.

Come on Elinor, let's X-ray that arm.

DR. FOX: Okay Elinor, you have to stay very still for the count of three.

ELINOR: Oh!

DR. FOX: One, two, three, X-ray!

ELINOR: Is that the inside of my arm?

DR. FOX: Yep, and this is your arm bone, and this is where it's broken.

RANGER RABBIT: Oh, dear.

DR. FOX: It's just a tiny break but Elinor will need to have a cast.

OLIVE: What's a cast, Dr. Fox?

DR. FOX: It's a special bandage that keeps your arm from moving so your bone can get better.

Come on Elinor, this won't take long.

There. All done!

ELINOR: Thanks Dr. Fox.

Wait a minute, will I still be able to do my circus trick?

DR. FOX: I'm sorry Elinor.

No circus tricks until your arm gets better, and that is going to take some time.

ELINOR: But we were going to have our circus today.

DR. FOX: Sorry about that, you'll just have to be patient

and soon you'll be right as roses!

Ta-dah!

ELINOR: [giggles] Thanks Dr. Fox.

RANGER RABBIT: You just sit here and rest a bit hunny-bunny.

MR. RABBIT: We'll go and get some lemonade and snacks for you and your friends, okay?

ELINOR: Okay.

OLIVE: Are you okay, Elinor?

ELINOR:Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just a little sad

I won't be able to do my trick for the circus today.

I've been practicing and practicing and now I won't be able to do it.

Why do we even need bones anyway?

ARI: I don't know.

OLIVE: Good question. [bird tweets]

ELINOR: Hi, little birdie.

[bird tweets]

OLIVE: Wow, that little bird sure can hop around.

ELINOR: Hmm, I wonder if birds have bones.

It looks from their feet that they do, but what about their wings?

OLIVE: I'll look it up in my nature book.

They do have bones, look.

ARI: It's an X-ray of a bird!

OLIVE: It says birds have special bones that are hollow inside.

That makes them lighter, which makes flying easier for birds.

ELINOR: [gasp] A lizard.

It's doing push-ups!

ARI: Go lizard, build those muscles!

ELINOR: I wonder if lizards have bones?

OLIVE: They do! It says that lizards even have bones in their tail.

ELINOR: That is so interesting!

OLIVE: Oh, look! A sweet little slug.

ARI: It looks so squishy.

ELINOR: It's sure not hopping around like the bird,

or doing push-ups like the lizard.

OLIVE: Yeah, it's just kinda sliding over stuff, all soft and mushy.

ELINOR: Hmm. I wonder if slugs have bones?

OLIVE: Slugs don't have bones.

They just have a squishy body.

ARI: Whoa!

ELINOR: Hmm, birds and lizards have bones

and they can do things like hop around and do push ups.

But slugs don't have bones, and they can't do those things.

Maybe that's what bones are good for.

They hold up our bodies so we can do more things with them.

ARI: Like hopping and push ups, and circus tricks!

OLIVE/ELINOR: [giggles]

OLIVE: Yeah, if we didn't have bones,

our bodies would be squishy and floppy like the slug.

ELINOR: We figured it out!

I guess our bones are really important, so I should let my arm heal.

MEDHI: Hey, Elinor, are you okay?

KOA: We were worried about you, dude.

ELINOR: Yeah, I'm fine. My arm is in a cast though, see!

It needs to heal, so I can't do my circus tricks for a while.

KOA: Bummer. I guess we'll have to cancel the circus.

MEDHI: Yeah, we couldn't get the circus tent to stand up anyway.

OLIVE: Yep. That tent is as floppy as a slug.

ELINOR: Wait a minute, Olive, that's it!

OLIVE: What's it?

ELINOR: Our tent needs some bones! [giggles]

Come on!

Thanks for making the frame, Daddy.

It really works.

ARI: Yeah, it's like a skeleton for the blanket.

OLIVE: With sticks for bones!

MR. RABBIT: I'm glad I could help, kids.

I'm just sorry you can't do your circus tricks, Elinor.

ELINOR: That's okay, dad.

We figured out how I can still be in the show.

OLIVE: It's almost time for the circus.

Let's get ready!

ARI: The show must go on!

ALL: [giggles]

ELINOR: Welcome to the Animal Town Circus!

I am Elinor, your Ringleader,

and I will be introducing all the acts tonight!

[clapping]

As you can see I had a little accident today.

So I won't be doing any circus tricks for a little while.

I learned that bones are very important, so if you break one,

you have to let it rest so it can heal.

But don't worry, I found someone to replace me.

Presenting Animal Town's greatest magician:

The amazing Dr. Fox!

[clapping] ALL: Whoa! Wow! Awesome! Cool!

DR. FOX: Thank you, thank you.

For my next trick I am going to need an assistant.

Elinor? What do you say?

ELINOR: I say, on with the circus!

EVERYONE: Yay!

OLIVE: Stuck in the Mud.

ARI: I love puddles! [giggles]

Yay!

ELINOR: This morning sure is making a splash! [giggles]

ELINOR: [giggles] ARI: [giggles]

ELINOR: Yay! [giggles]

ARI: Puddles, puddles!

I love puddles more than...

Hmm., what rhymes with puddles?

Wuddles? Cuddles? Scuddles?

Oh well, I love puddles!

ELINOR: Hey Olive, how come you're not splashing around with us?

OLIVE: I just don't want to get my rain boots muddy.

They're brand new.

ARI: That's too bad because those boots look like

they'd be perfect for splashing in puddles.

ELINOR: Hmm, I wonder what's going on over there?

OLIVE: There's definitely something fun going on in Animal Town today.

ARI: [gasps] Maybe there's a secret party!

KIDS: [giggles]

ELINOR: Hey, Mr. Hamster!

MR. HAMSTER: Oh, hello kids.

OLIVE: What's going on today?

ARI: Setting up for a secret you-know-what?

[whispers] Party?

MR. HAMSTER: [chuckles] Well, it is sort of like a party, but it's no secret.

Today is Animal Town's Nature Craft Show.

OLIVE: Whoa, what is that?

MR. HAMSTER: It's a wonderfully creative day

where we get to show-off our crafts we made from nature.

ELINOR: Crafts made from nature? That is so interesting!

MR. HAMSTER: It certainly is. Here, let me show you some.

ARI: Whoa. Cool!

Crafts are special because they're very unique.

ARI: Unique! Yes!

Uh, what does unique mean again?

MR. HAMSTER: Unique means that it's different, and there's nothing quite like it.

Like all these handmade nature crafts.

OLIVE: Unique. I like that word.

ELINOR: Wow. They sure are unique aren't they?

Oh no. There's no one set up at this table.

ARI: Wait. Maybe the nature crafts are invisible.

MR. HAMSTER: Actually, Señor Tapir was supposed to set up

his nature instruments here but sadly, he can't make it.

He's running in a banjo marathon.

OLIVE: Aw, that's too bad.

MR. HAMSTER: Yes, I wish we had someone use this table.

ELINOR: Hey Mr. Hamster, since we love crafts and nature so much,

could we use this table to show-off some of our nature crafts?

MR. HAMSTER: Oh, I love that idea, Elinor.

Of course you can display your crafts here.

Just make sure you're all ready by this afternoon.

That's when the show begins. [giggles]

ARI: Awesome!

OLIVE: Thanks Mr. Hamster!

ELINOR: Come on!

Let's go to my house and get crafting!

ELINOR: Ooh! I'm so excited to have our crafts in Animal Town's Nature Craft Show.

ARI: Me too. Everyone will get to see how creative we are.

OLIVE: Phew, still shiny and new. [giggles]

I can draw our ideas for crafts in my notepad.

ARI: Awesome! Now what to make, what to make.

Ideas, ideas, oh!

What? It's my thinking cap.

ALL: [giggles]

ELINOR: What about hats made from leaves?

No, Mr. Dog used leaves to make his masks.

We need something more unique.

OLIVE: Yeah, something that totally rocks!

That's it! We can make something out of rocks!

ARI: Yeah, that's a rocking idea.

[laughs] Get it, rocking?

ALL [giggles]

OLIVE: We can make a dinosaur out of rocks and call it Tyrannosaurus-Rox!

ELINOR: Or we could call it a rock-a-saurus! [giggles]

ALL: [giggles]

ARI: Come on, let's get some rocks!

OLIVE: Whew, there we go.

This should do the trick.

ARI: Woo-hoo! Let's get building this dino!

Okay, I think we're in dino-trouble.

ELINOR: Yeah, the rocks aren't holding together.

OLIVE: They just fall over.

Oh no, my boot!

OLIVE: There we go. Still shiny and new.

ELINOR: Hmm.

Maybe we need to make it out of something that isn't as heavy as rocks.

ARI: Hey! How about we try making crafts out of sticks?

Can I see your note pad, Olive?

ARI: Let's make...

Tyrannosaurus-Stix! [roars]

ELINOR/OLIVE: Let's try it!

ARI: [grunts]

This isn't working either.

ELINOR: Yeah, it's hard to get the sticks into the right shape.

They don't stay together, or they break.

ARI: [sigh] Goodbye Tyrannosaurus-Stix!

We'll have to think of something else for our craft. [splat]

ELINOR: Whoa, it's, it's-

ARI: The most beautiful sight these eyes have ever seen!

ELINOR/ARI: Mud!

ARI: [sigh] Mud is so amazing, isn't it? It's so smooth and cool.

ELINOR: Look! The water from the puddle is mixing with the dirt

and that's what's making the mud.

ARI: It's just water and dirt?

We should make mud everyday!

ELINOR: It's so gooey and sticky.

You can shape it into things and it will hold together.

ELINOR: [giggles] Olive, come look at this mud.

OLIVE: It's okay. I'm good over here.

ARI: Suit yourself.

[giggles] [splat]

OLIVE: [gasps] Elinor, Ari, come look.

It's a wasp!

ARI: Whoa.

OLIVE: [giggles] It must like the mud like you, Ari.

ELINOR: What is it doing?

ARI: It looks like it's making a ball out of mud.

ELINOR: I wonder why?

[gasps] There it goes. Come on, we need more muddy observations!

ARI: Whoa! What's this?

ELINOR: This must be where the wasp lives.

OLIVE: Yeah, it looks like it's bringing the mud back to its home.

ELINOR: But why?

OLIVE: Look!

ALL: Whoa! Cool! Awesome!

OLIVE It's using the mud to build its home.

ELINOR: That's so interesting!

OLIVE: [gasps] I remember reading about this in my nature book.

This is a Mud Dauber wasp.

They make their pretty nests out of mud.

And look, other animals use mud too!

OLIVE: Swallows and House Martins also use mud to make their nests.

It says here that mud is a great material to build with

because when it's wet it's sticky and easy to shape.

And when it dries it becomes hard, making it the perfect home for animals.

ELINOR: That's so cool. Animals use mud to make things!

ARI: [sighs] Is there anything mud can't do?

ALL: [giggles]

OLIVE: Hey! I know what we can do.

ARI: Go jump in the mud again?

OLIVE: [giggles] We can use mud to make our nature crafts!

ELINOR: Yeah good idea Olive! Let's do it!

OLIVE: See! It's easy to shape into anything we want.

ELINOR: And look!

It can hold rocks and sticks together.

OLIVE: Yeah! Let's get crafting. [splat]

[gasps]

ARI: Uh-oh.

ELINOR: Uh, Olive, your new boots.

They're all muddy.

OLIVE: That's okay, they were gonna get dirty eventually.

Plus mud is very cool!

Having my boots covered in it makes them more unique.

ALL: [giggles]

ARI: Mud is the best!

ALL [giggles]

OLIVE: Lets make some mud crafts!

MR. HAMSTER: Whoa, great work kids.

I love your mud crafts!

ARI: Thanks Mr. Hamster.

Mud is perfect for making crafts.

ELINOR: Yeah it's sticky and easy to shape, and when it dries it becomes hard.

A lot of animals in nature use it to make their nests.

ARI: [sighs] What a great Nature Craft Show.

Uh, I think it's time we had a bath?

ELINOR: Yeah, we are pretty muddy.

OLIVE: I know what kind of bath we can take. [splash]

A mud bath!

KIDS: [giggles]
