[Knocking]

ELINOR: Ooh, I can't wait for tonight!

I love, love, LOVE sleeping over at Olive's house!

ARI: Yeah, me too! Sleepovers at Olive's are the BEST!

We get to stay up at night and tell stories,

and then in the morning, my favorite part-

Ms. Elephant's bannana pancakes!

Mmm... They're so yummy!

They're also Robin's favorite-

WAIT A MINUTE!

Where's Robin??

Phew! There you are!

I thought for a second I didn't bring you.

Who's my favorite birdie plushie?

You are! Yes, you are! Yes, you are!

Er... I just didn't want Robin to miss out on the banana pancakes.

ELINOR: [GIGGLES] It's going to be a lot of fun.

Hmm, no one is opening the door. I'll knock again.

[Knocking]

[VIOLIN PLAYS IN DISTANCE]

ELINOR: Huh? I hear... music?

ARI: I hear it, too. I think it's coming from... over there!

[♪♪♪]

ARI: Hi, Olive!

OLIVE: Aahh!! ARI: Aaah!

OLIVE: Elinor, Ari! You're here!

ARI: Hello!

ELINOR: Hi, Olive!

OLIVE: Are you ready for our sleepover?

ELINOR: Ready? We were born ready for sleepovers.

ARI: Actually, I was born ready for sleep.

Kssh-! [Static Voice] OVER.

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

OLIVE: Did you bring your sleeping bags?

ELINOR: Check! ARI: Check!

OLIVE: Pillows?

ELINOR: Check! ARI: Check!

OLIVE: Robin?

ARI: Check!

I wouldn't leave you behind, Robin.

Who's my favorite birdie? You are... Yes, you are!

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

ELINOR: What were you doing, Olive?

OLIVE: Oh, I was just playing my violin.

I'm trying to come up with the perfect song to play for our sleepover.

But... I just can't seem to get it.

I think I'm missing inspiration.

ELINOR: Inspiration? What's that?

OLIVE: It's when you find just the right idea that makes you excited about doing something.

ARI: Yeah, my dad is always saying I need more inspiration to clean up my room.

ELINOR: Well, I am definitely inspired about our sleepover!

OLIVE: [GIGGLES] Me too. Why don't you take your stuff to my room while I finish playing?

ELINOR: Ok! ARI: Good idea!

OLIVE: See you inside!

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

OLIVE: [SIGH] Okay.

[♪♪♪]

[CRICKET CHIRP]

Huh? What was that?

[♪♪♪]

[CRICKET CHIRP]

Is someone else playing the violin around here?

ARI: Ahh! What should we do first?

ELINOR: We could read a fun story.

ARI: Ooh, or play charades. Guess what I'm doing?

[HUMMING]

ELINOR: Um, you're... dancing?

ARI: Mhm. Atcha, atcha, atcha!

ELINOR: You're... riding your bicycle?

ARI: Mhm. Pshhh. Pshhhh. Pshhh.

ELINOR: Er... You're... swimming in the ocean?

ARI: No... I'm mimicking that we should play charades!

ELINOR: Ohhhh! [GIGGLES]

[GASP] I know what we can play...

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

ELINOR: Who wants a pillow fight?

OLIVE: [GASP]

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

MS. ELEPHANT: Hello, Elinor and Ari!

[CHUCKLES] I didn't hear you come in.

Olive, did you come up with a song to play to your friends?

OLIVE: Um, not yet. I think I'm missing inspiration.

MS. ELEPHANT: That's ok. I'm sure you will come up with a great song.

OLIVE: Thanks, Mom.

MS. ELEPHANT: Well, have fun, kids.

OLIVE: I'm going to keep trying.

ELINOR: Maybe we can help you, Olive.

You can practice in front of us, and we can help you come up with ideas.

ARI: Yeah, show us what you got.

OLIVE: Ok! I tried to play this outside, but then I kept getting interrupted.

ELINOR: We're ready.

ARI: I'm all ears!

Hey! Did someone turn off the lights?

Oh, there you are.

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

OLIVE: Thanks, I'll give it a try.

[VIOLIN PLAYS OUT OF TUNE]

OLIVE: Mmm, no that's not quite it.

[VIOLIN PLAYS OUT OF TUNE]

ELINOR: That sounds great, Olive!

ARI: Yeah, keep going!

[CRICKET CHIRPING] [VIOLIN MUSIC]

[CRICKETS CHIRPING] Music to my ears! ARI: Awesome!

OLIVE: That wasn't me!

ARI: Oh...

[CRICKET CHIRPING] [VIOLIN MUSIC]

OLIVE: That's the sound I heard outside. It's like someone else is playing the violin, too!

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ELINOR: Where is it coming from?

ARI: A-ha!

[CRICKET CHIRPING] ELINOR: [GASP] It's a cricket!

ARI: Whoa!

OLIVE: How did it get here?

ELINOR: It must have come into the house through the window.

KIDS: Whoa! Wow!

ELINOR: Look at its long legs.

If I had long legs like that, I could jump to the moon!

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

OLIVE: Wow! Its chirp is so loud!

ELINOR: Hmmm, I wonder...

Why DO crickets chirp?

ARI: It looks like it's trying to go back outside.

ELINOR: Let's help it!

Oh, come, come, over here!

OLIVE: [GIGGLES] Not this way.

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ELINOR: [GASP] Did you see that?

When it chirped, it was rubbing its wings together.

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

That must be how it makes that sound.

OLIVE: It's kind of like how I play the violin!

By rubbing the bow with the strings!

[♪♪♪]

ARI: That is SO COOL!

ELINOR: I wonder why crickets make that sound?

ARI: Ooh, I know.

Maybe this cricket is a soccer referee, and it uses its chirp like a whistle.

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ELINOR: Hmm, I don't see any crickets playing soccer.

ARI: Yeah, but if there were, I bet they use a teeny tiny little ball.

KIDS: [GIGGLE]

OLIVE: I wonder if this cricket is trying to write a song, too...

[CRICKETS CHIRPING TOGETHER]

ARI: Hey, I hear more chirps.

ELINOR: There must be more crickets outside. Let's go look at them.

C'mon, we need more observations!

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

OLIVE: Where is it going?

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ELINOR: The cricket is making more chirps.

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

OLIVE: Look, it's another cricket.

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ARI: That other cricket is hopping over to the one making the chirps.

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ELINOR: Did you see that?

That cricket came to the one that was chirping, and then they left together.

OLIVE: Like it was calling the other cricket.

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ELINOR: [GASP] It happened again!

Maybe that's why crickets chirp. They chirp to talk to each other.

OLIVE: I think you're right, Elinor.

One cricket was making chirps, and that's how the other cricket was able to find it.

ARI: It was saying, “Hey! Yo! I'm over here!”

[CRICKET CHIRPING]

ELINOR: Oh, it's like how we found Olive before. We followed the sound of the violin.

OLIVE: We figured it out! Chirping is how crickets talk to each other.

MS. ELEPHANT: Hello, kids. Are you going to have your sleepover out here?

OLIVE: Mom, we found some crickets!

ARI: Yeah, they were chirping really loudly.

ELINOR: So we wondered why crickets chirp.

And then we figured it out!

Crickets chirp to talk to each other.

MS. ELEPHANT: Ah, you're right! Crickets chirp to communicate, which means they do it to talk to each other.

That's how they tell each other where they are, and how they tell other crickets to come to them, or to stay away.

ARI: Now every time I listen to crickets chirping, I'm going to think they're calling each other.

Hey! Over here! How are you? I'm over here too!

KIDS: [GIGGLE]

OLIVE: [GASP] I have an idea! I'll be right back.

ELINOR: Ms. Elephant, we also figured out that crickets chirp by rubbing their wings together.

ARI: Yeah, sort of how Olive plays her violin. It's cricket music!

MS. ELEPHANT: Yep, cricket chirps are very musical.

And you can hear them a lot, especially in the summer when it gets warm.

All animals need to communicate, but they do it in different ways.

ELINOR: That is SO interesting!

[VIOLIN PLAYS]

MS. ELEPHANT: [GASP]

VIOLIN CONFIDENTLY] [OLIVE PLAYS

Olive, you brought your violin!

OLIVE: Yup, I finally found my inspiration!

Just like the crickets, I'm going to play to communicate.

ELINOR: What are you going to communicate, Olive?

OLIVE: I want to communicate how amazing crickets are

and how happy I am that you both came to my sleepover.

[SIGH]

[♪♪♪]

ELINOR: That sounds really happy. Olive is communicating!

[♪♪♪]

ARI: What's that, Robin?

[WHISPERS] Robin says, “Now that's what I call inspiration!”

ELINOR: [GIGGLES]

[♪♪♪]

ELINOR: "Flying High"

ELINOR: [GIGGLES] Wheee! I'm flying!

OLIVE: [GIGGLES] Elinor, you're not really flying...

ELINOR: I know, but I wish I could WHOOSH between the clouds,

just like a bird!

OLIVE: Or a bat! Like Ari.

ELINOR: [GIGGLES] I wonder if I could see the whole world from up there.

[GIGGLES]

OLIVE: Mm, I'm not sure I would like to fly.

ELINOR: Why not?

OLIVE: I just don't know if I'd like being so high up.

My knees get wobbly just going to the top of the slide at school.

But I would love to see clouds up close. I love clouds.

[CHICKEE CHIRPS]

ELINOR: [GASP] Do you hear that?

OLIVE: It sounds like...

ELINOR: It's chickee the chickadee! Hello, Chickee!

OLIVE: Aww, she's so cute!

[CHICKEE CHIRPS] ELINOR: And she loves to fly.

OLIVE: Yeah, her knees don't get wobbly at all.

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

ELINOR: And look, geese! [GEESE HONK]

They're flying SO high.

Hmm... I wonder... Does Chickee ever fly that high?

OLIVE: I don't know.

ELINOR: [GASP] I know, let's keep watching Chickee, and see how high she flies.

KIDS: [GASP]

ELINOR: Chickee, where'd you go?

[CHICKEE CHIRPS]

OLIVE: Chickee, wait!

ELINOR: C'mon, let's follow her!

[CHICKEE CHIRPS]

ELINOR: Oh, no, I think we lost her.

[GEESE HONK]

OLIVE: Maybe Chickee went up high to fly with the geese.

[LOUD WHOOSH] ELINOR: [GASP]

I hear something else. It's coming from over there.

Let's go see!

KIDS: Whoa!

KIDS: Hi Mz. Mole!

MZ. MOLE: Well, hello, kids!

OLIVE: Mz. Mole, that is the biggest balloon I have ever seen!

ELINOR: It's amazing!

MZ. MOLE: Why, thank you, kids.

This is a hot air balloon. What brings you to my burrow today?

ELINOR: We're looking for our bird friend, Chickee.

We think she might have gone to fly high up with some geese.

MZ. MOLE: Well, I was just about to go on a ride in my balloon.

Maybe I can help you look for your friend. Would you like to come along?

ELINOR: In your balloon? [GASP] SURE!

OLIVE: Um... Flying? I don't know...

MZ. MOLE: It's a beautiful day to go on a ride. We might see some wonderful clouds up there.

OLIVE: Oh, I do like clouds. Uhhh...

Hgggh... Ok, I'd like to go.

MZ. MOLE: Wonderful! I'll go call your parents to check if it's OK with them.

ELINOR: I can't believe we're really going to fly like birds!

OLIVE: Yeah. Alright, knees, no wobbling, OK?

ELINOR: Maybe your knees won't wobble if you remind them not to look down?

MZ. MOLE: Your parents think this is a great idea, so hop on board!

ELINOR: Yay!

OLIVE: Err....

MZ. MOLE: C'mon kids, the sky and clouds are waiting for us!

Okay, are you ready? Here we go!

ELINOR: Whoa, cool.

OLIVE: Umm...

ELINOR: I've never seen the trees from above before. I wish Ari was here to see them.

ARI: They always looked like big pieces of broccoli to me.

KIDS: [GASP] Ari!

ARI: Welcome to my friendly skies.

MZ. MOLE: Well, hello, Ari, glad you can join us!

ARI: So, what are you UP to? Get it? “Up” to?

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

ELINOR: We're looking for Chickee.

We think she might have flown high up to be with the geese.

ARI: Flying high IS one of the best things about having wings.

OLIVE: Not to me. I get wobbly knees when I go too high.

ARI: Don't worry, Olive, if you get too nervous, you can just hold on to me.

I'm a super flyer, up, up, up and AWAY!

KIDS: [GIGGLE]

ELINOR: Look, birds! I wonder why those birds like to fly around here.

ARI: They're staying just above the trees.

ELINOR: It's a mystery.

Or should I say... a mys-TREE.

KIDS: [GIGGLE]

ARI: Oh. Hi there, little bug.

ELINOR: [GASP] Look!

OLIVE: The birds are eating the insects.

ELINOR: That must be why these birds are flying here - to get food. That is so interesting!

MZ. MOLE: You're correct, little scientists.

Some birds, like these ones called swifts,

fly this high because that's where they can find insects to eat.

OLIVE: I'll write it down on my notebook.

The swift flies just above the trees to get bugs to eat.

MZ. MOLE: Ready to go higher?

ELINOR: We're ready!

MZ.MOLE: Here we go!

ELINOR: [GASP] I can see all the way to town.

ARI: Whoa, this is almost as high as I've ever flown before.

ELINOR: [GASP] An eagle! [EAGLE CALL]

OLIVE: What is it doing up here?

[GASP]

OLIVE: Ari, can I use the spyglass?

ARI: Sure!

OLIVE: The eagle tried to catch a fish.

Maybe that's why it's up here - it's looking for food.

MZ. MOLE: Another good observation, scientists!

Eagles fly up here so they can look for food down below.

ELINOR: But how did the eagle know the fish was there? I can barely see the pond from here.

MZ. MOLE: Good question! They have special eyes that are really good at seeing things far away.

ARI: I wish I couldn't see all the way down.

This is pretty high!

OLIVE: So the eagle flies this high so it can look for food down below.

Mz. MOLE: Right you are, little lady! [GIGGLES]

Here we go, kids! We're almost at a cloud.

OLIVE: Whoa!

ARI: A cloud? I've never been this high before.

I wonder what's on the other side??

OLIVE: Don't worry, Ari, if your knees get wobbly, you can hold on to ME.

ARI: Hmm... Okay...

ELINOR: [GIGGLES] Here we go!

OLIVE: Wow! We're INSIDE the cloud!

ARI: Mmm, OK yeah, this is pretty cool...

ELINOR: Look!

OLIVE: Awesome!

ELINOR: Now we're above the clouds.

ARI: So cool!

ELINOR: [GASP] Look, there are birds here too.

OLIVE: Those are the geese we saw before. Why are they flying all the way up here?

ELINOR: Maybe it's warmer here, closer to the sun?

OLIVE: Mm, it doesn't feel any warmer.

ARI: Ooh, I know! Maybe they're goose aliens heading up to spaaaaace!

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

ELINOR: They look like regular geese to me.

They must be flying south because it's almost winter.

ARI: Well, wherever they're going, they have the whole sky to themselves.

OLIVE: Maybe that's why they're up here.

Up here, so they can fly a long way without anything stopping them.

ELINOR: Whoa! That is so interesting!

There aren't any mountains or trees or anything they have to fly around.

MZ. MOLE: Right again, kids!

Some birds fly all the way up here because there are fewer things to get in their way.

OLIVE: I'll write it down. Geese fly near the clouds, so nothing gets in their way.

ARI: Yeah, mhm.

ELINOR: Wait, but what about Chickee?

We thought she was up here flying with the geese.

MZ. MOLE: Huh... Remind me what kind of bird Chickee is?

OLIVE: She's a chickadee, Mz. Mole.

MZ. MOLE: Ah! A chickadee! Well, why didn't you say so before?

I think I know exactly where we can find her.

[BIRDS CHIRPING]

We'll just float here.

ARI: Hello, birdies!

Guess who just flew into some clouds and didn't get nervous AT ALL?

This bat! Uh... and these friends too.

ELINOR: Look! These birds are eating the fruits that are on the trees.

OLIVE: Mm, I notice these birds are smaller than the ones we saw high up.

ELINOR: Maybe being small helps them fly between the branches more easily.

[CHICKEE CHIRPING]

[GASP] Chickee! We've been looking for you.

ARI: Chickee is eating the fruits, too.

ELINOR: Ohh... maybe that's why Chickee doesn't fly high up like those other birds.

It has all the food it needs right here.

Birds fly in the best place to find what they need.

MZ. MOLE: Time to head back everyone.

All of this talk of food is making me hungry. And I'm not even a bird!

[LAUGHTER]

ELINOR: Goodbye, Chickee! We're glad we found you.

You're a clever bird for staying where you can find food.

ARI: Uh, Mz. Mole?

OLIVE: Can we please go up to the clouds again? It was really fun.

Please, pretty please?

MZ. MOLE: Of course! [LAUGHTER]

Looks like I've made high flyers out of all of you, after all!

ARI: Next stop: cloud city! Forecast: cloudy with a chance of awesome!

KIDS: [GIGGLES]

[♪♪♪]
