Chris: In North America, just east of the Continental Divide,

where the Rocky Mountains meet the Great Plains,

that's the location of our wildlife refuge,

created by kid action.

Grizzly Gulch.

Martin: We're here in a moose meadow!

An amazing habitat.

Chris: It's us, the Kratt Brothers.

I'm Chris,

Martin: I'm Martin.

And we are here waiting for an incredible animal.

Standing feet at the shoulder.

Chris: Weighing over pounds.

With antlers that can spread to feet.

Martin/Chris: The moose!

Martin: This is an impressive animal and worth the wait.

We could have good luck, because we're in the right habitat.

We have the willow bushes behind us,

which moose love to eat.

Chris: And this swampy sedge here,

is a great place for moose to wallow in the muddy water.

Martin: Moose love water

and a moose is a great swimmer.

Moose can swim clear across a lake and even dive under water

to eat vegetation at the bottom.

Chris: A moose is a really fast runner.

With those long legs, a moose can run as fast as a horse

and even with those big antlers,

a moose can run through the forest,

tilting its head side to side,

and twisting to avoid the branches.

Martin: Moose have a lot of big predators after them.

Bears, wolves, so they've gotta be tough.

A bull moose will fight back with his antlers,

and a mother moose will stand up and kick with her hooves

to protect her calf.

Chris: Bull moose are big, heavy, strong animals

and they put all that power into their epic head battles.

Martin: When you're a moose, you have so many cool abilities.

Chris: Imagine if we had moose power!

Martin/Chris: What if?

Martin: Moose Nibbles.

Chris: Ah! It's a day off from creature adventuring.

Aviva: So, what does everybody want to do?

Jimmy Z: I'll bake snickerdoodles.

Aviva: I'll read a book.

Koki: I'll tend to my garden.

Martin: [yawns] Rest day.

Chris: I think Martin and I will go camping.

Koki: Huh?

Camping?

Aviva: But...isn't it kind of exactly like adventuring?

Martin: Nah, camping is so relaxing.

Chris: All right... sounds relaxing.

Martin: This is gonna be especially chill.

[jumping grunts]

Chris: Hey, Slider!

[water splashes]

Chris: Whoa!

Martin/Chris: Whew!

Chris: And...perfect!

I think we're done.

Aviva: Hey guys!

Chris: Huh?

Aviva: [giggles] How's camping?

Martin: [chuckles] Oh, loving it!

So relaxing.

Right, Chris?

Chris: That's right.

Huh? Whoa!!

[bam/boing]

Martin: Huh? Wah...whoa. [bam/snap]

[snap] Whoa!

[snap/bang] Wah...ugh.

What happened?

Jimmy Z: [laughs] I think that happened!

Martin: What?

[chuckles]

Chris: A moose calf!

Martin/Chris: Aww...wow! Aviva: It's so cute!

Martin: Nothing this cute could've wrecked our camp.

Chris: Not possible.

Koki: Uh-huh possible.

[beep-beep-beep]

[ramp whirring]

Pulling up surveillance cams.

[boing]

[munching]

[sniffing]

That cute little trouble maker

nibbled on everything you guys set up.

It goes on like this for a while.

Until...

[sniffing]

Chris: Whoa!

[boing/snap]

Martin: Uaaah! Aviva/Koki/Jimmy Z: [laughing]

Chris: So you did this?!

I never knew a moose could be so mischievous.

Martin: Aww, you're funny.

We forgive you for collapsing our campsite.

Hey... [laughs]

Chris: You just can't stop nibbling, can you? [laughs]

Martin: Well, this makes naming you easy.

Nibbles.

That's what we'll call you.

Nibbles, the baby moose.

[laughing] That tickles.

[laughs]

Chris: I think she likes the name.

Aviva: Hey! Don't go anywhere without us.

I want to meet Nibbles.

Hi there, Nibbles.

Jimmy Z: She's kinda funny looking, in a cute way.

Chris: And everything about the moose is long.

She has a very long, long nose.

Martin: Which gives the moose her very long face.

Aviva: A very, very cute face.

Martin: And at the end of that long, cute and funny face

is a soft muzzle with lips

that can reach out and kinda grab.

[laughing]

Ya! That tickles!

Chris: And moose have very long, long legs.

It makes a moose calf a little uncoordinated now,

[moose squeels] but when she grows up,

those legs make a moose the tallest kind of deer

in the world!

Koki: Aaaah! Aviva: Oooh!

Jimmy Z: Uh, I have one question.

Moose are mammals, right?

Martin: Um- Martin/Chris/Aviva/Koki: Yeah.

Jimmy Z: Well, if she's a mammal,

shouldn't her mom be taking care of her?

Martin/Chris/Aviva/Koki: Yeah!

Jimmy Z: So where is her mom?

[lone wolf howl]

[louder wolf howl]

Chris: This baby moose can't be out here alone.

Martin: We've got to protect her.

Aviva: And find her mom!

Koki: So where is she?

Chris: We have to go where moose go!

Jimmy Z: Where's that?

Chris: Willow marsh!

Martin: Beaver pond!

Chris: Maple grove!

Martin: Those are places moose find their food.

Chris: Those are their habitats.

Jimmy Z: Um, maybe I should stay at the Tortuga,

in case the mom comes back.

Chris: But she might never come here.

A moose doesn't live in one place.

Moose go where the food is.

Aviva: Okay, this is what we do.

We'll split up and go to the different habitats

to find her mom.

Jimmy, to the willow marsh!

Jimmy Z: Okay, I guess.

Aviva: Koki, to the maple grove! Koki: That's a plan!

Aviva: I'll check out the beaver pond.

The bros activate moose power suits,

remember we have those...

Chris: Yeah, we programmed moose power suits

but never had a full-on moose adventure.

Martin: So now we'll activate moose powers

and guard Nibbles!

Chris: Don't worry, Nibbles.

We're coming to the rescue!

[fireworks exploding] ♪♪

Martin: Creature powers to the rescue!

Chris: Don't mess with Nibbles.

Aviva: Uh guys...you're going to need these.

Chris: Great plan, Aviva!

Martin: Yeah, you don't have to twist my antlers.

Chris: You don't have antlers.

We haven't activated moose powers yet.

Martin: Yeah but we're gonna...

Aviva: Okay, let's split up!

Martin/Chris: Alright! Insert moose power discs!

Chris: Nibbles, stop nibbling on my creature power vest.

Stop!

Martin/Chris: Touch moose!

Activate moose power!

Martin: Wow! With the strength of the mighty moose,

Chris: And the formidable antlers,

Martin: Nothing can get to Nibbles.

Chris: We are the ultimate moose protectors!

Martin: Uh...where's Nibbles?

[bird chirps]

Chris: Here moosy moosy moosy!

Martin: Nibbles, where are you?

Chris: Here moosy moosy moosy!

Ugh!

Whoa! Antlers tangled.

No problem. I'll get out of this with moose strength.

[grunting]

[thwap]

Oh!

Martin: Chris, c'mon! No time for climbing now.

Chris: Bro, I'm not climbing!

My antlers are tangled up in these vines!

Martin: I guess you never did activate

a moose power suit before.

Look at this. You gotta twist your head

as you run through the forest

so your antlers don't get tangled.

Like this!

Moose are really good at it.

Chris: Yeah well..

Martin: [sighs] It's a good thing moose are

the tallest deer in the world.

[kicking grunts]

Chris: Uah, oh, whoaa!!

Ugh! Thanks, bro.

So I have to twist my antlers to avoid the vines.

Here goes!

Oh yeah. This works!

Martin: Okay, remember bro,

we're trying to catch up with Nibbles.

Chris: Moose style!

[bird chirping]

Martin/Chris: Nibbles!

Martin: Whew...there you are!

We found you.

Chris: Don't run off like that, Nibbles.

Stay close to us.

[low animal growl]

[lynx growls]

Martin: Get behind us, Nibbles.

Chris: It can be dangerous out here for a moose calf.

Aviva: Okay, the usual characters at a beaver pond.

Hello, beaver!

[water splashes]

Bullfrog.

[croaks]

[water splashes]

Blue heron.

♪♪

Wood duck.

I bet that's a moose's behind.

A moose only has a very small tail.

Could this be Nibbles's mom?

Antlers mean it's a male.

They're called "bull" moose.

Not Nibbles's mom because female moose don't have antlers.

But what's he doing dunking his head underwater?

I need to get in there for a closer look.

[water splashes]

A moose can eat underwater!

Now that's a wow fact!

Moose can dive down to get water plants.

They can completely close their nostrils

and stay underwater for about a minute.

Double wow fact!

But no sign of Nibbles's mom

at the beaver pond habitat.

[water splashes]

Martin: Hmmm. Look at those black bears.

Chris: Martin, you're getting distracted.

You should be watching Nibbles.

Martin: Yeah, but I'm keeping an eye on predators who eat moose.

And besides, you should watch her.

She's nibbling on your creature power vest.

Chris: Nibbles, don't nibble on my creature power suit.

What?

Nibbles nibbled right down to the wires!

[wires sparking]

Uh-oh.

[croak]

[click/buzzing]

Martin: Uh-oh.

Chris: Huh?

Martin: [laughs] That's a first!

A frog with antlers! [laughs]

You're a, you're a whole new kind of bull moose.

A bullfrog moose!

Chris: [croak]

Martin: [laughs]

Koki: Hmm.

Okay, a stand of hardwoods.

We've got the maple trees, a butternut tree,

the oak trees and all these leafy hardwood trees mean...

lots and lots of tender twigs.

Moose love eating twigs.

It's one of their main foods.

Wait...no antlers.

[gasps] A female moose!

Moose is an indigenous word

that means "twig eater".

Could this be Nibbles's mom?

[bushes rustle/baby moose calls]

Oh, she has a calf.

Moose sometimes can have more than one calf,

but this moose isn't acting like she's missing a baby.

So she's probably not Nibbles's mom.

Chris: [croak]

Nibbles, come back!

Martin: Chris, stop scaring Nibbles!

Chris: I can't help it, [croak] it's a malfunction!

I'll try to figure out a way to deactiva.... [click]

Aaahhh! Ugh! [water splashes]

[grunts]

[moose sniffs/licks]

Nibbles, that tickles!

[licking]

She really likes eating twigs.

Martin: Hey bro, do you know why moose grow so big?

Chris: Yeah, to... Martin: ...to eat twigs

that are high off the ground!

With these tall legs and reaching my neck up,

a moose can reach twigs feet off the ground.

Chris: And their long legs help them wade through water,

and travel through deep snow in the winter.

Martin: A moose can even stand on its hind legs,

then a moose can reach twigs feet off the ground.

A moose can eat twigs that other species of deer

can't get to. [chomp-chomp]

Chris: Exactly!

Moose are the biggest browsers in North America.

Martin: Eww! [spits] Yuck!

Even in my Moose Power suit, twigs don't taste good.

Hmm...

I wonder if a moose likes to eat acorns?

Chris: I don't know bro, maybe in winter?

But I do know that Nibbles is nibbling

on your creature power vest.

[sparks/arcing] Martin: Oh no!

Acorns grow into oak trees.

I know where this is going!

With antlers?!

I can't even move.

Chris: Now that's a creature power suit malfunction!

Martin: Whoa, uh, whoa...ugh!

Chris: Martin quit fooling around. You're scaring her!

Martin: [spits] What? I can't help it!

It's a creature power suit...

malfunction!

Whoaaaa!...Ugh!

Chris: Nibbles! Aw, Martin, you scared Nibbles!

Nibbles wait up!

Martin: Uaaah...aah!

[moose call]

Jimmy Z: Hey, I think there's something wrong

with that horse!

Maybe she's sick or something?

I'd better call the Wild Kratts g*ng.

Hey, everybody.

A horse is in trouble!

Koki: Horse?! What horse?

Jimmy Z: Look!

[moose calling/grunting]

Koki: Jimmy, that's a female moose!

Jimmy Z: Where are the antlers?

Koki: Female moose don't have antlers.

Jimmy Z: Oh.

Koki: Sounds like the behavior of an anxious moose.

Jimmy, can you send us any video?

Jimmy Z: Sure!

I don't see her anymore.

She's in the willow bushes somewhere,

but I can still hear here.

Koki: Jimmy, record the sound on your Creaturepod,

and run it through my animal sound analyzer app.

[clicking/whirring]

Jimmy Z: It says, call of a mother moose looking for calf.

Koki: Great job, Jimmy! That must be mom.

Everybody, let's all meet at the willow meadow!

I think Jimmy found Nibbles's mom!

Chris: Jimmy, you found Nibble's mom?

Jimmy Z: I don't know. But she might be in there somewhere.

Koki: [sighs] So much echo.

Can't pinpoint location.

Mom's in there somewhere.

But where?

Martin: Nibbles recognizes the call,

but how are we going to find mom in there?

Aviva: Let's try splittng up and looking in the willow bushes.

Chris: Hello, momma moose?

We have your calf here to see you!

Aviva/Koki: Here moosey, moosey, moosey.

[thunk] Oof!

Martin: Hey, moose mom!

Nibbles is excited to see you!

Whoa! Wha-hey,

okay, okay...this is your willow stand! I get it!

[clack!] [grunting]

Aaaahhhh!!

Agh! [thud]

[short grunt]

[sighs] This is not working.

Aviva: No, it's not.

But when one idea doesn't work,

just think of another.

What if...we had a bird's eye view on the willow grove?

Martin: You mean bird powers?

But Nibbles nibbled our creature power vests.

Chris: Yeah we're getting all sorts of crazy malfunctions.

Aviva: Hmm...well what if I activated bird power?

Any creature around here who can fly?

[chickadee chirps]

Hello, chickadee!

[chickadee sings]

Chris: You can use my chickadee power disc.

Oops! Jimmy Z: Whoa!

Got it!

Chris: Thanks. Moose hooves, you know.

Aviva: Insert Chickadee Power disc.

Already touching chickadee. [giggles]

Activate chickadee power!

Martin: Yeah! Awesome!

Chris: Cool chickadee suit, Aviva!

Aviva: Thanks. Flying up to get a better look.

Okay, let's see.

Lots of moose.

Some of them grazing.

[moose calling]

Whoa, that one seems in distress.

That's the moose mom I'm looking for.

I think I found Nibbles's mom!

Sending coordinates, and don't forget Nibbles!

Koki: Got them! We'll be right there.

Chris: Hey Nibbles, we might have found your mom.

C'mon!

Aviva: Over here.

Koki: Is that her?

[mom moose calling]

[Nibbles moose call]

Aviva: Could it be...?

It is!!

Chris: Oh yes!

Martin: A mother and calf, back together again.

Chris/Aviva/Koki/Jimmy Z: Aww!

Chris: And we found out so much about moose.

Martin: And got through two more epic

Creature Power Suit malfunctions.

[chuckles] So much for a relaxing day.

Aviva: Why didn't you call me?

All you need is a little tape on the wires.

That'll stop the malfunctions.

Martin: Tape?! All it needed was a piece of tape?

Aviva: [giggles] Hey Nibbles, stop it!

You are too cute!

Chris: Uh-oh.

Aw...here we go again.

Aviva/Koki/Jimmy Z/Martin: [laughing]

Martin: Nice malfunction, bro!

[laughing]

Aviva/Koki/Jimmy Z/Chris: [laughing]

Chris: Right back at you, bro!

Martin: Well, we're still malfunctioning,

but at least Nibbles and mom are back together again.

Chris: Living free and in the wild!

Huh?...hey that tickles!

Martin: [laughing]

♪♪

Moose turkey? Aviva!

Aviva: Maybe we should get those suits back

to the Tortuga for repair. Koki: You think?

Aviva/Koki/Jimmy Z: [laughing]

Martin: So moose are amazing animals!

Chris: With really cool features.

Martin: Yeah, and really cute calves.

Chris: And here's a wow fact for you:

a moose is a member of the deer family.

The largest deer in the world!

Martin: And not far behind them is the elk,

famous for the impressive antlers

and that incredible bugling call.

[elk bugle call]

Chris: A mule deer is a size down from an elk.

When a predator's near,

mule deer do a stiff legged hopping move called pronging.

That shows the predator that the mule deer is strong and healthy

and the predator better not mess with it.

Martin: Now a much smaller deer is the white-tailed deer.

A lot of predators are after the white-tailed deer.

The mother deer know this,

so they have a really neat trick

for protecting their fawns:

they hide them in thickets and the fawns stay perfectly still

and they really don't smell much,

so as long as they stay there,

any predators might just pass by

without knowing they're there.

We've seen every one of these deer here on the refuge.

Chris: Yeah, we filmed them all on our creature cams.

From the fast... Martin: And curious.

Chris: To the very small. Martin: And the mighty.

But no moose this week.

Chris: Hey Martin, a moose wallow!

Martin: That means moose are definitely coming here.

Chris: A moose wallow is a place where a moose can come

and roll around in the mud and the water,

and maybe nibble on a few grasses.

And you can tell that a moose has been here,

because the grass is tamped down.

Definitely a moose around here somewhere.

Martin: We haven't seen one, but we're not gonna give up.

Maybe it's time for a creature camera at the moose wallow.

Chris: Yeah, let's set it up right here.

This tree's perfect!

Martin: All right. That's good. That's solid.

Chris: Nice!

We'll come back tomorrow and see if any moose showed up.

Martin: Keep on creature adventuring.

Chris: We'll see you on the creature trail.

Martin: Let's get out of here.

Chris: Yeah, they won't show up if we're around.

Martin: Whoa... if we get a moose!

Chris: Or an elk.

Chris: Oh yeah.
