Watch this: the dominoes topple over,

causing the tennis ball to roll down the ramp;

then the ball bumps into the book,

which causes the next book to fall over;

the last book causes the pail to fall and pull the handle down.

ZEKE: And now it's toasting the bread.

And that's my brand-new cause-and-effect machine.

I can sit here and read my book

and make toast in the kitchen at the same time.

Making toast and reading a book at the same time. That's it!

Kat and Kit need us to water their plant

in the garden at sunset.

But we want to watch Family Foodat the same time.

So maybe we could set up a cause-and-effect machine

like yours.

It'll start in the Starlight Room,

since that's where we'll

be watching the game show.

And end in the Sow 'N Grow Garden.

Since that's where the flower needs to be watered.

Whoa, Nellie!

That'll be the biggest cause-and-effect machine

I've ever seen.

Just make sure all the parts connect.

And that one part causes the next part to do something.

Like with my toast machine.

In fact, why don't you start with the dominoes I used?

and cause the other dominoes to topple.

See? Let's set them up and test it out.

ZADIE:Okay.

Here it goes.

Well, that was a bust.

I think we can improve it.

See, if the dominoes are closer together,

the first one will hit the second one,

causing the second to hit the next one.

Let's set them up and test it out.

Now we need dominoes to knock into something

to cause other things to happen

until we can cause the watering can to water the flower.

How about if the dominoes hit one of these ba*ls

from Quique's juggling class?

Yeah. The ball could roll down something towards the garden.

ZEKE: Like a slide? Whee!

That gives me an idea. Come on!

See? I made a slide.

Now we just need to connect it to the dominoes.

I have an idea!

When the last domino hits the ball,

it will cause the ball to roll down the slide

and off the edge of the Starlight Room,

into...

ZEKE: Ellie's yard!

Let's test it and see if it works.

We're building a cause-and-effect machine

to water a flower in the Sow 'N Grow for Kat and Kit.

Well, we need that ball to roll down something

and hit something else

that causes it to hit something else

that waters the flower.

Maybe we can make a slide out of paper towel tubes

that goes from here to the Sow 'N Grow.

Then the ball would hit the trampoline,

bounce into the slide and then roll down.

[ball thuds] Uh, I think the ball hit something.

ALL: Whee!

Our ball!

You mean my ball.

It hit my house,

bounced off and landed in my bucket.

And that means finders keepers.

I'm making a bucket ride for Sir Snuggles

because he's tired of walking.

If I take off the clothespins,

and put Sir Snuggles in the bucket,

he'll make the bucket slide down the zip line

all the way to the bottom of the Sow 'N Grow Garden.

Wait a second.

If the weight of Sir Snuggles can take the bucket

down the zip line, so can our ball.

That could be the perfect way

to connect our cause-and-effect machine

to the Sow 'N Grow Garden.

Yes! If the ball gets the bucket

to the Sow 'N Grow Garden,

we can then use the bucket

to cause the watering can to tip over

and water the flower.

Do you not know that you could just water the flower by hand?

We can't 'cause we got to water the flower

at the same time we want to watch the game show.

So, could we have our ball back

and use your bucket?

We have to work out how to get this bucket

to hit that watering can

and then tip the water onto that flower.

We need something that can get to the watering can.

Oh! Oh! Sammy, can we borrow your skateboard?

Sure.

The bucket could hit the skateboard,

causing it to go.

But how do we lift the watering can and make it tip?

Hmm.

[gasps] We tie a piece of string

from the watering can to the skateboard.

SAMMY: Then, when the skateboard rolls down the ramp,

it could pull the string,

causing the watering can to tip over.

MALIK: Look. The sun is about to set.

The game show is about to start,

and the Sunset Blossom needs to be watered.

Oh, sure!

Well, riddles are like word puzzles.

They're good for keeping your brain sharp.

Now, it's really important to pay attention

to every part of the riddle to work out the answer.

So, if I ask something like,

"What is the saddest berry in the world?"

You'd say a blueberry, right?

Because when you're feeling sad,

you might say you're feeling blue. [laughs]

Whenever Chanáa visits,

he tells three riddles.

And if you solve them all, you get a special prize.

What was your special prize, Super?

I never actually got one.

I could never solve the last riddle.

It was always too tricky.

I have three rules for solving my riddles.

First, you have to work out the answer to my riddle.

Second, you have to bring me the answer to the riddle.

So, if the answer to my riddle is blueberry,

then you bring me a blueberry.

Third, you have to solve all three riddles

before my dance performance, which is this afternoon.
