Great idea, Mr. Shuster!

Come on, let's go get ice cream!

So, who would like to order first?

Me, please! Oh, no.

Wait, maybe Pinkalicious should go first?

Or maybe Mommy?

Mrs. Pinkerton?

I'll have Purple Passion Flower, please, Mr. Swizzle.

And please may I have Strawberry Swirl?

Of course! And Peter?

Um, Peach Surprise.

No, Raspberry Ripple.

Oh, I don't know!

Are you okay, Peter?

No, I lost my hat,

and now I can't make up my mind about ice cream and...

[gasps]: Oh, no, I just don't know what to do!

I just can't decide!

PINKALICIOUS [laughs]: Peter,

does it really matter which one you pick?

The monkey bars are just as much as fun as the slide.

But without my hat, I can't pick.

Oh, life is so hard now.

Hey, when I can't make up my mind,

I sometimes ask someone else what they think.

You could try that.Good plan!

[wind blowing]

Hm... Oh!

I'll ask you!

If you had to play on something first, what would you pick?

Slide or swings?

The swings, definitely.

Huh.

I don't think I do want to go on the swings.

Sorry, Pinkalicious.

I don't think asking someone else works for me.

[humming]

Hi, Daddy!

Hello, Pinkalicious-- just in time.

I was going to get started on dinner.

It's Peter's turn to choose tonight.

So, Peter, what do you think?

Spaghetti or lasagna?

Sorry, I can't help you, Daddy.

Huh?

[whispers]: Peter lost his hat.

And ever since, he's had trouble making up his mind

about everything.

My hat was magic.

[chuckles]: I'm sure that's not it, Peter.

Your hat was great, but it wasn't magic.

It was! I really think it was!

And without it, I'll never be able

to make a decision again!

Aw, I know what you need.

The Mysterious Pinkball!

It's a fortune-telling toy.

You ask it a question, shake it,

and a message appears in the window.

It might help.

That sounds really good, Daddy!

Try it, Peter.

PETER: Is spaghetti the right choice

for dinner tonight?

It says, "Most likely."

That means yes.

Spaghetti it is!

You don't like that way of making up your mind, either?

[sighs]

PETER: I feel sad.

Like when I was wearing the blue hat at Mr. Shuster's.

Not being able to choose anything is horrible.

If your old hat was magic...

Which it was.

Then maybe a new one would be, too.

We should go back to Mr. Shuster's.

There must be a way to help you choose a new hat.

Hm...

You could flip a coin.

Or spin a wheel.

Or what about a crystal ball?

You don't like what the crystal ball chose, either?

Hm...

[gasps]

Peter, you don't like something else choosing for you!

At Mr. Swizzle's, you did not like it

when you closed your eyes

and your finger landed on Peach Surprise.

No, I did not.

But that must mean you actually wanted Raspberry Ripple.

Oh-- I guess it does?

And at the playground, you didn't like it

when I chose the swings.

Would you have felt better if I'd chosen the slide?

Hmm... I think I would!

And in the kitchen,

if the Mysterious Pinkball had chosen the lasagna,

would you have felt happier?

I definitely would!

Then try this: what's better, ba*ls or blocks?

Oh, I don't know.

Okay, I'll pick.

I pick blocks-- do you agree?

No, ba*ls are way better!

Peter, you made a decision!

[gasps]: I totally did!

[cheering]

I think, deep down inside,

you know what you want.

You just need to think how you'd feel

if a coin or a toy or someone else picked for you.

Let's try another one!Okay.

Juice or milk?

Hm... Juice!

Yellow or green?

Green!

Walking or scooting?

Scooting!

Hey, I think I could totally pick a hat now!

Then let's go!

Mommy, Daddy!

We have to go back to Mr. Shuster's!

Peter can pick a hat now!

Uh, kids, I'm really sorry,

but Mr. Shuster's is closed now.

It's late.

Oh, no!

It's okay, Pinkalicious!

I don't need to go anymore.

Oh, that's right!

You don't need to buy a new hat.

You've learned to make up your mind without one.

You just need to think about how you feel.

But also...

Look!

The wind must have brought it back!

And right now, I know exactly what I want to do!

[Daddy straining]

Got it!

[laughs]: There you go.

[gasps]

Yes! Yes, yes, yes!
