04x02 - A Dish Served Odd/Odd Jubilee

Post by bunniefuu »

[Orli] My name is Agent Orli,

and this is my partner, Agent Ozzie.

This is a pie chart of pies I like.

Back to us.

We work for an organization run by kids

that investigates anything strange, weird,

and especially odd.

Our job is to put things right again.

-[monster grumbling] -[light dramatic music]

[bell chimes]

[Orli whoops]

News time!

[laser whooshes]

-[fingers snapping] -[bell chimes]

[Orli] We are "Odd Squad."

[Captain O] "A Dish Served Odd."

Thanks for coming, Odd Squad.

What seems to be the problem, ma'am?

Well, it's my fridge. Look.

[Sports Caster] And Elaine's opened the door,

once again showing her skill with kitchen appliances.

-Whoa. -Whoa.

And it just keeps going.

[Sports Caster] She's got six to beat here.

Oh, she's changed her mind and drifted out to the wing.

It's just a bit loud.

Agent Orli, I think a Golf Commentatorinator

will help here.

-Stand back. -[bell chimes]

-[suspenseful music] -[laser zaps]

Try it now.

[Golf Commentator] And you join us once again as Elaine

prepares to show us her mastery of the green.

Thank you, Odd Squad.

Happy to help, ma'am.

Have a great day.

[gadget whooshing]

[Golf Commentator] Fore!

[can clattering]

Odd Squad!

And...

Done.

Done? What done?

Everything done.

Everything done?

Everything.

I've had my breakfast, my morning nap, my lunch,

done my paperwork, done your paperwork,

had an afternoon nap.

-Wait. Two naps? -And solved three cases.

What a day.

You solved cases without me?

Uh huh.

I needed to get us ahead of schedule so we can do this.

[Ozzie] A sightseeing tour?

[Orli] I wanna know all about my new hometown.

One of the stops has the biggest clown nose in Britain!

That's cool, but don't you think we should

do this on our day off?

We can't.

This tour only happens once every ten years.

Getting the tickets was very tough.

-Rock, paper, scissors! -Rock, paper, scissors!

Paper wins. And that's wins in row!

Nothing is stopping us from getting

on that tour this afternoon.

[Captain O] Ozzie, Orli, in my office now!

And hurry!

Well, something might stop us.

[suspenseful music]

There's a new villain in town.

Take a look.

I am the Trifler, and all the world shall know my name,

which is the Trifler!

[Trifler cackles]

Zaps with her elbows, huh?

That's how she turns things into trifle.

-Ugh. -Yeah. Ugh.

Wait, what's trifle?

-Trifle is a terrible-- -Delicious.

Dessert made from cake, fruit, jam, custard, and cream.

Listen to what you are saying.

All those foods are delicious.

Yes, but it's too many good things.

Repairman Rick, back me up.

Is trifle yummy or yucky?

I'm not a fan.

And this bowl of trifle, it used to be my toolbox.

Take a look at this photo of it.

[Orli] Ugh.

Uh, thank you.

This photo may give us a clue as

to where the Trifler will strike again.

As may this perfectly timed phone call.

[phone ringing]

A hoy hoy.

-Where? -[light dramatic music]

Okay.

Thank you.

The Trifler has struck again at the library.

Another strike means more data.

That's more information to help us stop her.

[shouting] Thank you for coming, Odd Squad!

Happy to help.

[librarian hushes]

But you're shouting.

I know!

And one person is more than enough, don't you think?

Look, the Trifler has turned one of my precious books

-[plastic clattering] -into a trifle.

Do you have a photo of the book

before it was trifled, ma'am?

A photo of the book?

Do I look like the sort of person to have photos

of my library books?

Because I am.

[curious music]

[Ozzie] A red book.

Wait, look at the photo of Repairman Rick's toolbox.

It's also red.

You know what this means?

Yes! She trifles books!

Apart from the toolbox!

Sorry, I'm lost.

The Trifler is only turning red things into trifle.

So she'll probably strike another red thing next.

And we'll be there to stop her.

But where?

I think I know.

The biggest clown...

Actually, could you say what that is?

[librarian] Of course!

"The biggest clown nose in Britain"?

[dramatic music]

Wow. That is one beautiful nose.

[Passerby] Oh, thank you very much.

Uh, you're welcome.

Interesting fact, this nose belonged to Clicko,

a clown famous for buying the wrong size things

from the internet.

[hushes] Don't spoil the tour.

Although we won't be going on it

if we don't catch the Trifler soon.

Odd Squad?

My red shoe boxes, and they've been turned into--

[Ozzie] Ugh! Trifle.

-Yuck! -Yuck!

I'm sorry about your shoe boxes, sir.

Can I ask where your shop is?

Just yonder.

-Yonder? -It means over there.

I'm trying out some old fashioned words

to see if they make me look clever.

So the Trifler passed by the clown nose

and instead went uh yonder to the shoe shop.

Let's go yonder.

But why skip the nose?

What do the red toolbox, the red book,

and red shoe boxes all have in common

that the red nose doesn't?

Maybe more data will help.

Do you have any photos of the shoe boxes?

Gadzooks.

Photos? Of my shoe boxes?

What kind of a person has photos of shoe boxes?

I have paintings.

Wow. It's beautiful.

Well, thank you very much.

You name it, I'll paint it as long as it's a shoebox.

[Orli hums]

What do they all have in common apart from being red?

[gasps] They're all rectangles, see?

Four sides.

Two long, and two short.

You're right!

The Trifler's only turning red rectangles into trifles.

So the round clown nose doesn't fit the pattern.

This is great.

We can use this information to set a trap.

Yes, we could use a red rectangle to lure the Trifler

to us and then we can stop her.

And make it for our tour, which leaves in one hour.

But where will we find a huge red rectangle

that she can't resist?

Time to roll out the red carpet.

Hi, I'm Horatia Hollywood live from

this red carpet premiere, and here are the stars.

Ozzie, Orli, what's the new movie about?

-It's not a real movie. -Uh huh.

We just laid down this huge red rectangular carpet

and you all turned up.

Great!

And do you have any funny stories from behind the scenes?

As we say, it's not a real movie.

-[Interviewer] Yeah. -We're just hoping to lure

the Trifler so we can stop--

The Trifler!

Were you excited to work with her on this project?

Uh, what?

-[light dramatic music] -[Trifler cackling]

Oh, here she is now!

Trifler!

It's her.

The carpet worked.

My name is the Trifler, and I am not to be trifled with.

Do you hear me? I am not to be trifled with.

It means I should be taken very seriously.

It's actually a very clever piece of wordplay

because trifle has multiple meanings.

[laughs]

[both] Odd Squad, Odd Squad, stop right there!

Your reign of pudding-y terror is over, Trifler!

Yes, you're in a bit of a jam.

[Interviewer] Jam!

That's great because you know there's jam in trifle.

Over here. Come over here. Come on, sweetie.

So is this the kind of improvization

you do in the movie?

-[Interviewer] Uh huh. -So yeah.

Fab.

Once again, it's not a real movie.

[Interviewer laughs]

Enjoy the laughter while you can,

for I will be going nowhere near your silly red rectangle.

Behold!

[Trifler cackles]

[gadget zaps]

-[everyone gasps] -[camera shutter clicks]

Goodbye, Odd Squad.

She's gone.

And the tour of my new hometown

is about to leave without us on it.

See you in ten years, big red bus.

Not so fast.

No, actually so fast.

Follow me quickly.

Wait, are you gonna tell me where we're going?

No, it's much more dramatic this way.

-Let's go! -[dramatic music]

Act II cliffhanger!

Ozzie, why are you bringing me to the amazing bus tour

that we can't go on because we didn't solve the case?

-[light dramatic music] -Look at this.

We thought that the Trifler

had been trifling red rectangles.

But then she didn't strike the red carpet,

which is a huge rectangle.

Correct, because it's not red rectangles

that she's changing.

Oh.

So the objects she's trifled aren't red rectangles.

They're red rectangular prisms!

Yes, three dimensional shapes with six sides.

[watch beeps]

Like a book or a phone box or--

Here it comes, here it comes!

-A bus! -Exactly!

A bus is just a rectangular prism on wheels.

[Trifler clears throat]

Well done, Odd Squad. You worked it out.

Although if you ask me, you were a trifle slow...

[laughs] A trifle.

It's a clever joke based on the word trifle

having multiple meanings.

Never mind, it's time for me

to transform this bus into the greatest of all my trifles!

[Trifler cackles]

[both] Elbowpatchinator!

-Go! -[gadgets zapping]

Odd Squad, your Elbowpatchinator stopped me

from trifling that bus!

Well, I will not rest until I get my revenge.

-Oh. -[magical music]

These patches really finish off my jacket.

Thank you.

I'll go and tidy up the mess I made.

Bye.

Odd Squad, thank you for saving my bus.

As a reward, please accept these free passes

for unlimited tours forever.

Whoa!

Thank you.

Although it's still only every years, right?

Yeah, any more than that gets people a bit overexcited.

[passenger] Woo!

Take it easy, Doris.

[Doris] Hiya!

-Okay, everyone on board! -[bell chimes]

And like all great movies, this one ends

with our heroes driving off into the sunset.

Sorry to interrupt, but why are we here?

Please say it's to eat pancakes.

that he always eats breakfast out on a Saturday.

He goes either to this pancake place

or to the smoothie cafe.

Over the last couple of months, he's been here five times.

In the cafe, three times.

Ah, and since five is more than three,

we think he's most likely to come here.

So let's grab a seat and wait for him to turn up.

It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.

We can't stay here any longer.

It was supposed to be here, not at the cafe.

No. He was just more likely to come here,
