three challenges behind us.
This is the halfway mark.
With every space
you've transformed so far,
you've been judged
on the creativity of your ideas,
the functionality of your space,
and the quality of your work.
Bryan: Now that we're
at the halfway point,
we feel it's time
to turn up the heat.
♪ (dramatic music)♪
This week's challenge
is to complete the kitchen.
Scott: This is a big challenge.
Kitchens add a tremendous amount
of value to your properties.
This is the heart of the home.
It's where guests
will be gathering.
Bryan: When it comes
to the kitchen,
there are so many important
decisions to make.
The cabinets, the countertops,
the general layout,
look and feel of the kitchen.
Scott: Be mindful of the fact
that this is one of the most
expensive rooms in the home.
So allocating your budget
properly will be critical.
Bryan: Now everybody was given
the exact same budget
of $100,000.
We've been chewing through it.
How are you guys feeling?
Do you have money left
to finish this cabin?
Rotem: Yeah, we have,
we have some.
Troy: A little bit.
Kyle: It's gettin'
a little tight.
Savannah: It's getting
tight, for sure.
Bryan: How are you guys
doing with the budget?
Jena: We're trying to be
as smart as we can.
Room by room.
Scott: April and Arnold.
What was the most challenging
part of your budget so far?
April: Probably the bathroom.
Arnold: The bathroom, for sure.
Scott: Yeah?
April: I have expensive tastes.
(laughter)
Scott: Expensive taste!
As always, Bryan and I will
be evaluating your spaces.
But you also have to be mindful
that there is a
guest judge as well.
Bryan: And remember,
you must finish your kitchen
by the end of the week.
Scott: Are you guys ready
to start your kitchens?
Teams: Yeah!
Scott: Let's get cooking!

Sean: Okay,
what do you want here?
Jena:
I want this to be
an entertaining kitchen.
We're actually really excited.
Not only because we think
the kitchen is the
heart for our place.
It's also going to be
a big sum of our budget.
Sean: Dining table or are
you thinking island?
Jena: Kitchen table island.
Sean: Okay.
Jean: Let's seat eight there.
Sean: What do you think?
A pass-out window right here.
Jena: Oh, wow. Incredible!
The floors are going to be
lightly colored,
so I really want to go
with a darker
and bolder style lower cabinet.
We're gonna bring the industrial
feel in,
adding an appliance garage,
and we're adding in a large
rectangular island,
to double as a place to dine.
Finally, if we swap out
the existing window
with a pass-through window,
it will feel like a
much bigger space.
Sean: It's going to be
some heavy work for me.
Jena: And a lot of heavy
delegating for me.
Sean: Yeah.
Jena: (laughs)

Savannah: My idea
for the kitchen is
cabinets along this wall.
Kyle: Okay--
Savannah: I think it
will be really great.
I'm going to be taking
some major risk in this kitchen.
I want it to be over the top.
I think that if we
did a pop of color,
I think it's going to
make our cabin stand out.
Kyle: Okay, when you
say color, what's--?
Savannah: Pink!
Kyle: Pink?!
Savannah: Like a grown-up pink.
I think it's
gonna be so different.
Trust me on this one.
Kyle: Trusting you!
Savannah: Let's continue
the black and white
entryway flooring
into the kitchen.
It's going to be beautiful
with the pink cabinets.
For the hood, I want to do a
custom piece with brass detail.
Finally, I want to do
two dining tables,
joined together in the center
so that we have lots of seating.

Kyle: This is gonna take
up a really big chunk
of our budget, our time,
our creativity.
Savannah: I know
it's gonna be worth it.
♪
Rotem: This is what
I've anticipated most.
Troy: Coming to the kitchen
challenge, super stressed.
I think the kitchen is the most
important challenge to win
as far as I'm concerned.
Rotem: I agree.
I pride myself on
designing kitchens.
I want to continue
our arch theme
with the surround of our stove.
The kitchen cabinet color
is going to be
a mediterranean-inspired green.
We're adding an island
and shelves
in front of the window
for storage.
Over in the dining area,
we're going to be building
banquette seating,
and I'm going to expose
some of the trusses.
And put like a
light feature, up top,
sort of like a DIY skylight.
Troy: Thinking outside the box
there, but it might work.

Arnold: How are you
thinking about layout?
We weren't able to
get a win for the loft,
but kitchens are some of
our favorites to work on.
We got a lot of ideas
for this space.
April: With the kitchen layout
I want to add a banquette
for seating.
Then I want to continue the
moody feel for the cabin
with black countertops,
backsplash and black cabinetry.
Finally, I'm moving the sink
to the island.
And then have
our pantry at the end.
Arnold: So we got a banquette,
we got an island,
we got a pantry.
And how much time
do you think this will take?
April: You could do anything!
Arnold: Alright.

Jena: It's kitchen day!
Sean: Love it!
Scott: The kitchen's a big deal.
Jena: That is gorgeous!
Bryan: In a vacation rental,
that's where people gather,
that's where they entertain,
it's where they make memories.
Rotem/Troy: Alright!
Bryan: The competition could be
won or lost in the kitchen.
Rotem: Wow! Look at this!
Troy: This is a
risk you've taken.
We've never done this
color of a kitchen.
Rotem: You know,
what I always say?
Trust the process.
Scott: If you get it right,
you get a lot of points.

Troy: Another custom arch.
Rotem: A custom range hood.

jammed over here, though.

Because we're doing
a built-in banquette seating.

Rotem: We do have
seating in the island.
We're gonna have a lot
of people staying here.

Bryan: This is
a smaller kitchen.
You're planning on having
big groups of people here.

pans, cups, bowls.
Are you concerned at all
that you don't have
enough storage space?
Troy: Well, we're doing shelves
in front of the window.

Rotem: We have another
unit here, a tower here.
Troy: We also have...

Scott: But on the lower,
you're gonna have
a blind corner at the bottom.

And then you're going
to build a bench
which, you lose
all of this space,
which could have been
cabinets as well.

Bryan: Every challenge so far,
I've seen the confidence.
This is the first time
I've seen you guys
questioning your decisions.
This is a big room
to have to step back...
...and rethink.
Rotem: You're right.
Scott: Alright.
Their brand being the
Mediterranean theme,
is now starting to
become a challenge.
This is where
creativity and functionality
start to bump heads.
So even if it looks bad,
it still has to function.
Bryan: Well, and, you know, it's
pointless if it looks good,
but is useless.
Scott: What?

April: Alright. So I wanted
to discuss paint colors.
I have my Sico
from Rona paint deck.
Arnold: Okay.
April: I want to do something
a little bit lighter
to kind of give some
contrast with all the black.
Arnold: Okay.
April: So--
I went between
these two choices,
but I'm leaning more
towards this one.
This one is putty clay.
What do you think?
Arnold: Yeah, I
like the lighter one.
We got a lot of
dark colors in here.
Be nice to brighten it up
a little bit.
April: Do you think
it's going to be a bad thing
to have it be a light color
in the kitchen?
Arnold: I don't, as long as
you get a nice durable paint.
April: Perfect. Well,

step for this kitchen
is getting that window in.

to take the window out

traffic, and the traffic is just
leading you to the kitchen to
get what you're looking for.
Scott: So this is an awning
window you've purchased?
Sean: Absolutely.
Jena: Yes.
It's a better use of space
without having the foot traffic
hit the kitchen
where it's already busy.
Bryan: Have you thought
about when this is open
and you're up here, your
house is full of mosquitoes.
Jena: Um, so there are
many aftermarket products
that we could look into
and add on to this component.
So we can still have
a retractable screen here.
Bryan: Is that something
that you had considered,
prior to 30 seconds ago?
Jena: It is now.
It absolutely is now! (laughs)
Sean: It is now!
Bryan: There's a lot of
bugs in cabin country...

Scott: (laughs)
Bryan: So... that's
definitely something
they've got to think about.
Scott: Flies are attracted to--?

biggest investment yet
in this competition.

it is a custom build,
so this has to be done

the competitors
are working on their kitchen.
The kitchen is one of
the biggest investments
in a property, and
it's also potentially
the turning point
for some of these teams.
Bryan: I'm really looking
forward to see
how they each spread their
themes throughout the kitchen.
Also, I want to see that they've
thought about functionality.
Scott: Sometimes,
that unexpected twist
is exactly what people
are looking for.
Sean: Jena!
I don't know who measured this,
but it doesn't fit.
Jena: What?!
Sean: Someone gave me
the wrong measurements.
Jena: But I measured it twice,
how does it not fit?
Sean: So you're
an inch and a half off.
Jena: Look, I'm human,
I make mistakes,
but I'm solution-based
rather than problem-based.
So now we're in solution mode.
Can it be fixed?
Sean: I gotta cut an inch
and a half off these logs.
Jena: Okay.
And this is why I love Sean.
A problem is not really
a problem.
It's just, how is he going to
attack it and fix it?

a kitchen like this?
Kyle: I have not!
Even after seeing
these cabinets,
I'm still not convinced
that this is the way to go.
But we're going to go for it
and hope for the best.
Savannah: I'm so excited!

Scott: Whoa!

Savannah: I did!
Scott: What color
is this called?
Savannah: It's a grown-up pink.
Our whole vision behind this
is that we want stuff
to be memorable.
Scott: Oh, I'll remember this.
Bryan: Yes!
I can't say I've ever seen
an entire kitchen
done in this color.
It's unique.
Scott: I think you need to
sell me on it a little more.
Savannah: Okay!
Scott: At this point
in the competition,
everything needs
to coordinate together.
And how does this tie
into the final product?
Savannah: I really want
this cabin to feel like a
rustic, romantic vacation home.
And this adds to the romance.
Scott: The challenge with
going with such a bold color,
it looks maybe gimmicky
if it's not done well.
Kyle: Mhm!
Scott: But it might be the
best decision you ever made.
Kyle: We'll see.
Scott: You've never
seen a kitchen like this?
Bryan: No, I've never
seen a kitchen like this.
Scott: Neither have I!
Is this a bold decision
that is going to
draw the right attention
to this property?
Or is it going
to put people off?
Because it can be polarizing.

Troy: Let's cut

Rotem: The archway
over the stove is
to create some kind of a
welcoming cooking nook.
Oh, wow!
Troy: That's it.
Rotem: I love it.
Troy: We've done a lot of
archways in this cabin.
They're very complex,
but they need to be done,
to achieve our
Mediterranean vibe.
Oh, yeah! Let's continue on!
Rotem: Right?
Are you going to cook me a
meal here after this is done?
Troy: Absolutely am!
Rotem: Not only is Troy
an amazing builder,
he's also an amazing chef.
Troy: I want to go in there
right now and whip--
Rotem: Oh, can you?
Troy:--delicious...
I wish the appliances were here.
Troy: ...get out of
the doghouse pasta.
Rotem: Oh, yeah!
Troy: I've been known to um,
make my wife angry sometimes
for no apparent reason.
Rotem: (laughs)
Just a little angry.
Troy: But I've learned
now that the best way
to get in her good books
again is through her stomach.
So I have a pasta
that I've created,
'Dog house pasta'.
Troy: Olive oil, garlic,
hot chilies, parsley,
sun dried tomatoes, parmigiano
cheese and a lot of love.
Rotem: And it gets him
out of trouble every time.
Troy: It does. Every time.

April: So we have
this butcher block,
and I'm thinking
a great way to use it,
would be to do a range hood.
(saw buzzing)
Arnold: And that
was the easy one!
April has a grandiose,
free-flowing approach to design.
April: Why don't we just put
the beveled edge at the bottom?
Why don't we put the
sides behind the shelves?
And there's no way to
like, cut it in half?
Arnold: She comes up
with these ideas
and I try to figure out
a simple way to make it happen.
It can be challenging.
My thought was to see
what it looked like cut.
But it doesn't really look nice.
April: Right.
I assume everything
that I want can be done.
Arnold: She just dictates.
April: Oh, you'll just put
that one piece on here.
So this looks like the edging.
I think that's a great idea.
Arnold: Now, I gotta
cut this thing down.
April: The work
speaks for itself.
Arnold: Definitely worth it.
April: (laughs)

Jena: Where are we at
on this guy?
One integral
part of this kitchen
is the island table.
So this has to come...
5 inches forward.
When designing any space,
I always come back to
how I was raised.
Growing up, we were
never very formal.
Come as you are.
Sit. Have a meal.
After a meal, play cards,
enjoy a nice glass of wine.
All of a sudden it's 4 am.
You know, this kitchen
is built for that.
So, this island is big
and it's built for parties.
Big charcuterie.
Nice bottle of champagne.
Sean: I'm with you on that one.

Troy: So we have an issue.
Rotem: Yes?
The sink... is too high.
Troy: We have to cut some of the
cabinet to drop the sink down.
Countertops are coming in
and we have an apron sink,
and the apron sink has to sit
below the countertops
or the countertop heights
will not be the same.
So we're gonna have to
cut this on the fly.
Rotem: We only get
one shot of this.
Troy: So don't miss.
Rotem: Don't miss.

Scott: This is a huge turning
point in the entire
renovation in the competition.
We're past the halfway point.
The main floors are
about to be completed.
The majority of the
budgets have been spent.
Bryan: You can tell
there's some hesitation.

Jena: It's like a little off.
Sean: We gotta take this out!
Bryan: There's some
second guessing.
Kyle: My first time building
a hood, I'll be honest.
Savannah: I thought,
you have done this before?
Bryan: This is causing
a little bit of stress.
Rotem: I don't
think I can watch.
Troy: The apron sink has to
sit below the countertops.
We have to cut the
cabinetry on the fly.
It's not easy to do
under normal circumstances,
but this is like
a pressure cooker.
Rotem: I am so nervous!
Troy: I think we stack up
pretty well in the competition,
only because we are
the most seasoned, I believe.

we're the best but,
it means we've been
doing this for so long that
we've made the mistakes already.

Hopefully Rotem and I, when
we get thrown a curve ball,

April: We wanted to create a
nice open viewing area
for our living room.
Scott: So where did you
move your sink then?
April: Sink is here?

Bryan: Typically when
people are cooking,
everybody's in the
kitchen, munching away.
When you're doing dishes after
and you're alone in
the corner washing,
now you can be here and
you're still part of the party.
Arnold: That's right.
Scott: Nobody puts
Bryan in a corner.

You've drawn from your own
personal experiences
in order to design this?
April: Absolutely.
I have little kids myself,
so I want to be able to see them
when I'm, you know, cooking
and, you know, entertaining.
So when people are coming here
with their families,
we don't want people
in the kitchen to feel excluded.
Scott: Every single
detail matters.
It's going to come down to
the quality of your work here.
It's not easy to execute
the luxury brand.
April: Go big or go home.
Scott: Absolutely!
Bryan: You know, April and
Arnold's cabin is very sexy.
It's very lush and luxurious
with the rooms
that they've completed.
They've already set
the tone for their cabin.
The kitchen really
solidifies that tone.
And there is no
going back after this.

Jena: We decided
to incorporate steel
on our appliance garage
for the inserts, for the doors,
as well as above our island,
acting as a canopy
for the space.
Sean and I both have
an affinity with steel.
It's a way to take
a polished thing
and just add some
ruggedness to it.
We like that
playful contradiction.
So, thought?
Sean: Yes?
Jena: What do you think about
using this leftover piece
from the appliance
garage for the hood fan.
Sean: Well, it looks like
I'll be welding today.
Jena: Well, it looks like
I've got the right partner.
I love the fact
that Sean is a welder,
because he's able to do it.
I get to think
in the metal world,
which is very hard to find
when it comes to a contractor.
Sean: I love working with metal.
It's one of my old favorites.
The first trade
I started was welding.
I love fire and burning stuff.
If it wasn't going
to be welding,
was going to be pyrotechnics.

Scott: How do you feel about
building some chairs, Bryan?
Bryan and I
are continuing our work
on the rest of the resort.
We have a lot of pieces here.
Today, Bryan and I are
going to put some
chairs together for the beach.

When it comes to interior
design, I'm self-taught.
The whole reason
why I started doing
my interior
design business was,
I was looking to earn
an extra $250 a month to
put my kids in dance.
And so I started
flipping furniture.
Then little by little,
we started doing projects
and I started
sharing them online.
And then it turned into a blog
and we start working
with companies.
So that's kind of how
this whole journey started.

an 18-inch bench.
Rotem: I got nervous
when Scott and Bryan
talked about the
lack of storage.
Troy: We're gonna have
two storage drawers.
Rotem: So we were going
to use the banquette area
to our favor
and add some storage.
Troy: I was against it at first
because we were doing
so many custom elements,
but we need to push ourselves.
And if we don't,
there's no chance!
We gotta hurry up and finish!

Arnold: Your painting
is really improving.
April: right?
Maybe it's the paint!
Arnold:
And that's only one coat.
April: I'm so happy
with the color.
Arnold: It looks great.

Arnold: I really enjoy
the finishing of a project,
but pressure's on
for me to deliver,
so April's vision is realized.
I gotta make sure that my
lighting wires are run correctly
in order to make sure that
backsplash looks impeccable.
The pressure on delivery
is always there for me.

Kyle: Get this thing painted.
It's tricky to have to do
the custom elements.
See how this color looks.
We've done beautiful
things in the past,
but it's never been with
this kind of time restraint.
I really hope the grain on
that plywood settles down.
This competition certainly
is pushing my comfort zone.
Savannah: Kyle, are
you done with paint?
Kyle: I hate that I can see
the wood grain in the plywood.
It just sucks. I sanded
this thing until I was sick.
This is a moment of frustration.
Give me a minute.

Scott: It's the last day
of the kitchen challenge.
Our teams still have to get
their appliances installed,
and complete any
finishing touches.
Sean: Ready for the reveal?
Jena: I'm so excited!
One area that we are hoping hits
the right mark with the judges
is our hood fan.
It's not traditional.
On the inside,
we have to go black.
But it's worth the risk for us.
Rotem: Get it to a
level where you need it.
It is crunch time.
The kitchen is
super important to me.
So getting everything into
place, really stressful.
Troy: I'm trying to be
as precise as possible.
Rotem: Okay, so
maybe take off a bit.
Arnold: Push on it, push on it,
because I'm gonna pull.
There's still a
ton left to do.
Still have to add
cabinet pulls.
You got your custom
banquette wall.
I still haven't
tested my lights.

Savannah: We're really
scrambling to finish things up
before we run out of time.
It's these little tiny
details that will either
make us, or break us.

so good about this kitchen.
Kyle: I don't know that
I've felt this confident
in any of the challenges
that we've completed
up to this point.
April: I am so stoked
about the kitchen.
I feel like it's one of
our best spaces thus far.
Jena: Right now, my emotions
are here, they're here.
We put our hearts
and souls into this.
Rotem: This kitchen is one
of my favorite kitchens
that I've ever designed,
and I hope that
Scott and Bryan will love it.
Bryan: Great job teams,
on completing
this week's challenge.

Scott: A massive project.

Christine: I'm so
excited to be here.
Scott: You are a pro when
it comes to the kitchen.
So what are you going
to be looking for?
Christine: I spend most
of my time in the kitchen,
so I'm looking for
a nice open feel,
but also the
efficiency of the space.
And then just the
general gut feeling
of wanting to be
in there and cooking.
Scott: Beautiful.
We're going to be looking
at the quality of the work,
the creativity of the design,
and of course, the
functionality of the space.
Alright, we're gonna see
what's cooking in your kitchens.
Bryan: We'll be back.

Scott: So far, Rotem and Troy
have successfully blended
their Mediterranean theme throughout.
Let's see how it translates
in the kitchen.
Christine: Oh, my goodness!
Scott: Wow!
♪
Christine:
So we have some color!
Bryan: I would never,
ever, ever, ever
choose this color,
but now I might!
Christine: I like that they
put the stove over here,
because at least you don't
have your back to people
while you're cooking.
And I do really like all
the little built-ins,
like this, and the spice rack.
The shelf in front of
the window is interesting.
Bryan:
That's great use of space.
The only little detail
that I would criticize them on
is that on the back
side of these shelves,
I would have put a little bit
of a ledge because this stuff--
Christine: Oh, it's gonna fall!
Scott: Oh, it's gonna push.
Christine: Look, they've hidden
the range hood under here!
Scott/Bryan: Yeah.
Christine: It gives it
an old school feel.
Logistically, I like this
extra seating over here.
Bryan: And they've
got great storage
underneath that
banquette as well.
Christine: And it's
a cushy banquette.
Scott: Oh, that's
super comfortable!
This is a legit dining area.
Bryan: And look at this!
Christine: What?!
Scott: These are
the floor joists,
but they've cladded
them in wood.
Bryan: So they've
created a fake skylight.
Scott: It feels like you're
in a European villa,
where it would be open air.
Bryan: And it ties in
the faux beams
on the ceiling
in the living room.
The fit and finish
in here, is perfect.
Christine: Aesthetically, this
is very pleasing to the eye.
Scott: Very pleasing.
In the marketing material,
it's going to grab
people's attention.
Design wise, I think
they nailed it!
Rotem and Troy spent over
$30,000 on this kitchen.
Almost a third of their
overall budget.
Let's see if it pays off.
Jenna and Sean have done
a lot of custom builds,
and I'm curious what custom
surprises we'll see this time.
Christine: Completely different!
Scott: Oh, yeah.
Bryan: Very minimalist.
I'm a little surprised
at how minimalist this is.
Scott: Yeah.
This is a huge island!
Bryan: Yeah.
Scott: Are there seats
on the other side too?
Bryan: There are.
Christine: Aaaah!
Scott: Isn't that different?
Bryan: This is your
dining room table.
Scott: I've never seen
just a dedicated island
with seating on both sides.
Christine: You have your sink,
you have your dishwasher,
you have your stove,
so everything's really
close together, which is great
because it does give us
a lot of work space.
I feel like they could have used
a little something here.
Scott: There's
one floating shelf
and then it feels like
there's one missing over there.
This range hood,
it's all welded together.
Christine: And I do like this.
Scott: And it matches--
What is that?
An appliance garage over there?
Bryan: Let's see if
the garage is open.
Scott: Uh-oh!
Bryan: This is a major issue!

Scott: Christine, Bryan and I
are judging the
kitchen challenge.
And we found a problem with
Jena and Sean's install.
Bryan: We do have
a quality issue here.
Scott: Uh-oh!
Bryan: This is gonna tear off,
'cause when it opens up,
it hits the hardware there.
Scott: Aaah!

Bryan: Overall install is good,
but this is a major issue.
Christine: There's some
really nice things
that I like about this space.
It's nice and open and airy.
Scott: This is an awning window?
Christine: Oh,
it opens right up!
Bryan: That is nice!
Now, you brought the outside in
and you can pass the inside out.
Christine: And we have so much
storage space under here,
which I love.
Is this a dinner bell?
♪ (bell chime) ♪
I love it!
Scott: Bonus points
for this idea.
Bryan: The only issue
with that window,
it does need a screen.
Christine: Oh, yeah!
Bryan: You get the mosquitoes.
Scott: Yeah.
Overall, I admire the fact
that there's a tremendous
amount of prep area
and think it's plain and simple,
but it feels incomplete.
Bryan: Yeah, this is one
we have to think about.
Scott: Jena and Sean budgeted
carefully in previous challenges
so they could invest heavily
in their kitchen.
The $39,000 they spent is
the most on any room so far.
But will it be enough to win?
Let's keep going.
Christine: Okay.
Scott: April and Arnold
have done a great job
executing their luxurious
theme so far,
but it will be tough to carry
through the kitchen.
Christine: Oh my!
Scott: Wow!
Bryan: It makes a statement.
♪
This is a sexy kitchen!
The theme they were going
for here was luxury.
Christine: Luxury?
Bryan: This is the Luxe lodge.
Christine: It does
scream luxury.
Scott: The island
really is a feature.
It's a quartz countertop with
a waterfall on either side.
Gold accents, even the
chairs are a feature.
Christine: This is lovely.
This wood works.
Scott: Yeah, I think
they custom made
the range hood cover.
Christine: I think
it's good with the black,
because it brings some warmth.
The backsplash,
it's very geometric.
I do think we're going
for that luxury appeal.
Bryan: Fit and finish of this
quality work wise, is great.
Apart from... the shiny
silicone around these shelves,
if they'd been installed
inside the tile,
I think that could
have been avoided.
Scott: Yeah.
The integrated lighting
goes well with their theme.
Bryan: It's about luxury and
it's about technology as well.
Christine: Oh!
Scott: There goes the blinds.
Bryan: When you don't want the
neighbors to see what's cooking.
All: (laughing)
Scott: They also chose
to put their dining area
tucked in the middle
of the cabin.
There's tons of seating
with that corner bench.
Bryan: Yeah. And storage.
Scott: In terms of the layout,
I really like
what they did here.
Christine:
In chef school, they teach you,
for time efficiency,
you need to have
the minimal amount of steps
between each major appliance.
So going to the fridge, right?
It's good to here, to here.
They've utilized the space
really well.
Bryan: One of the complaints
I've heard at home, is--
Scott: You've heard
a complaint at home?
Bryan: It's usually
after you visit.
Scott: Why can't you
be more like Scott?
Bryan: No, why did you
give him the gate code?
He's so wonderful!
(laughs)
Bryan: One of the
complaints I've heard
is when people are finished
eating, they disappear.
So, I actually really like what
they've done with the sink here,
because it continues to keep you
as part of the group.
And eating and entertaining
is a huge,
huge part of vacation parties.
Christine: Yeah.
Scott: For me, the challenge
with this space is
the design choices themselves.
I find that it's very dark.
Christine: I think they could
have warmed it up a little bit.
Bryan: I gotta disagree
with you a little bit.
I really like this.
This feels high end hotel,
and I think this is
maybe a market
that really has been overlooked.
Scott: Spending almost $30,000
on their kitchen is a lot.
But April and Arnold's luxe look
could land them the win.
Right from the time
that we came through,
we knew this kitchen was going
to be dramatic and it delivered.
Bryan: Yeah.
Scott: Savannah and Kyle
have made
unique choices in every room,
and the kitchen is their
biggest gamble yet.
Bryan: Wow!!
Scott: This kitchen is pink!!
Bryan: We got a sneak peek of
this, but it's still shocking.
Scott: It is shocking!

Christine: It's
stunningly beautiful!
Bryan: I feel like half
the kitchen is missing, though.
This has the least amount of
countertop and prep space
out of all of the kitchens.
Christine: I know. Yes.
Where's the island?
Scott: The island
is these two tables.
Christine: It's these things.
Who are they having out here
with them on vacation?
Bryan: Apparently--
Scott: 12 guests.
Bryan: The entire family!
If you're going to prepare
a meal for a dozen people--
Christine:
This is not gonna work.
There's no cooking, really,
for your guests here.
Scott: For me, vacation is about
family, it's about friends.
And this layout
accommodates the most guests.
Bryan: Fit and finish, I do like
how the countertop flows up.
They've put some of these,
you know, almost
Elizabethan elements in here.
I like these faux bricks
that have been plastered over.
Scott: The range hood,
that they custom built,
looks great, and that trim
detail ties in nicely.
Bryan: The trim detail,
though, is the one thing.
It's just not lined up perfectly.
And I'm surprised because
Kyle's install work
has been bang on.
This to me looks
like he was rushed.
Scott: This is tough.
There's some things that are
absolutely amazing
about this kitchen.
Doing something whimsical,
really leaning into their theme.
Remember, this is for vacation.
Christine: Yeah.
Scott: You want things to be
a little out of the ordinary.
Savannah is very active
on social media.
She's playing to the fact that
anyone taking a vacation here,
is probably going to post
something about this kitchen,
which is going to generate
a lot of comments
and self-promotion.
Christine: 100%!
Scott: This could be one of the
most popular and profitable
of all the vacation properties.
Christine: This one is the
hardest for me out of them all.
Because it's nice and
airy and roomy,
But I just don't know if
I'd want to be cooking
for 12 people in this kitchen.
Scott: Savannah and Kyle
spent big on previous challenges
and wisely spent just $26,000
on their kitchen.
Leaving them wiggle room
with their budget.
Is it enough to get them
a second win? We'll see.
We have four very
different kitchens.
Christine: Yeah.

Bryan: Well, either way,
you know, hard or easy,
we have to make a decision.
Scott: Okay, let's do it.
Christine: Alright.
♪
Bryan: Alright, we are back.
And I have to be honest,
we could not have seen
four more different kitchens.
Scott: Everybody put a lot
of energy into these
kitchen spaces and it shows!
You guys made it really tough.
But these are
vacation properties.
This isn't a residential home.
You need to stand out.
Bryan: Rotem and Troy.
Troy: Okay.
Bryan: Can I just say...
Minty!
(laughter)
Scott: I love the fact that
you guys went out on a limb.
You tried a color
that is vibrant.
What a twist
with the open joists!
It really sold me on
the authenticity of your brand.
Bryan: The craftsmanship of the
install in this was amazing.
Great storage
under your banquette
that you built as well.
Christine: And the
attention to detail,
like the little nooks
for storing things
and making where the
stove goes a little nook.
Rotem: Thank you.
Bryan: The only criticism
I can give you
is that everything
on those kitchen shelves
in front of your window
is going to fall off the back.
Troy: Why didn't you think that?
Rotem: I did think of that.
All: (laugh)
Scott: Ooooooh--
Rotem: I did think
of that, and I just--
Scott: Jena and Sean.
You two have been very frugal.
But in the kitchen,
you spent some money.
It's a big decision...
and it's a big payoff.
I liked the
pass-through window
and the island put your
chairs on both sides.
Great for entertaining
large groups.
Christine:
I love a clean kitchen.
And you definitely made it
clean and minimal.
Bryan: I like the light kitchen,
I like the layout,
and I do love the
appliance garage.
I would love it
more if I could open it
without the steel falling out.
So it's all down to the details.
Jena: Yeah!
Scott: Savannah and Kyle,
you guys have a pink kitchen!
Teams: (laughter)
April: Wow!
Scott: I've never seen
a full-on pink kitchen!
And I was pleasantly surprised.
Christine:
You opened up the space
and it's stunning to look at.
But putting in that
big, long dining room,
you're losing a lot
of that countertop space.
You sacrificed
a lot of functionality.
Bryan: Big plus for me
was that backsplash.
I love that brick
with the grout over top of it.
What I didn't like,
on that range hood,
trim details
didn't line up perfectly.
I could tell you were in a rush.
Scott: April and Arnold,
you really leaned into
your theme on this one.
Bryan: It is dark and inviting.
It feels to me like
I'm at a high-end hotel.
It screams luxury.
It screams technology. Wow!
And you're the only team
that flipped their kitchen.
Christine: You utilized
the space very well.
The appliances were
in the right places.
You had lots of space
to move around,
and lots of storage space.
Scott: It's definitely
a Luxe Lodge
with a Luxe Lodge kitchen.
However, with all
the dark colors,
it did feel a little cold.
The range hood was nice,
but I was hoping to see
maybe more of that wood,
but everything dropped back
into the really dark.
April: Moody is something
that not everyone
is gonna resonate with,
and we decided
to just do something
a little bit more
bold and different.
Scott: It's a commitment
that you made
and I can appreciate that.
Will it all pay off?
Bryan: Everybody did
a fantastic job.
You should all be proud
of the work you've done.
All the kitchens
look incredible.
Scott: And this was one of
the hardest decisions
we've had to make yet. In fact,
it was not a unanimous decision.
But that's why we
have guest judges,
is because Bryan and I
don't always agree.
In fact, we almost never agree.
Bryan: It's true.
Scott: However, there
can only be one winner.
Christine: And the winner
of the kitchen challenge
is...

Rotem and Troy!
Teams: (clapping and cheering)

Troy: We won!
Rotem: Yeaaaaah! We took it!
Troy: We won.
Rotem: The kitchen is ours!
Scott: How're you guys feelling?
Troy: We feel, we feel great!
Rotem: We feel amazing!
Troy: She's gonna cry!
Rotem: (laughs)
I'm really excited that
we finally won a challenge.
I mean, wow, fourth challenge!
I feel happy.
I just, it was really hard to
design it and build it and--
it's happy tears.
(giggles)
Troy: We've caught
up to the pack,
maybe even edged
ahead a little bit.
Scott: We are deep
into this competition.
We are past the halfway mark.
The main floors are complete!
But we still have a
lot of work to do.
And based on the results,
the $100,000 is
still anyone's to win.
