01x05 - Wolfboy Finds a Memory

Post by bunniefuu »

Poor Wolfy.

Do you think Luxcraft's gonna be really cross?

I'm trying to listen.

I mean, he was surrounded by disarrays.

Right, Floof?

Uh-huh.

In fact, it's a jolly good thing Wolfy was there to save the day.

He did what any hero would do.

And those disarrays didn't know what hit them.

He was all like, "Boom!" And they were all like, "Oh, no!"

-And then I was like-- -Sprout! Would you please just--

Did I do something wrong?

No. Look, I just--

I don't know why you like him so much.

There's something strange about him.

He said he was a human, but you saw what happened in Guardian Lab.

He's not like any human I've ever seen before.

I mean, do we really know who he is?

He's our friend.

Since when do we need other friends?

Never mind. Let's listen.

And then "boom"?

Boom.

It seems your definition of laying low is a little different than mine.

I'm sorry, sir.

I didn't mean to cause a scene.

I've really been trying to fit in here.

Please, just don't send me home.

Send you home? Certainly not. You definitely can't leave now.

Can't leave?

I mean, if you want to stay, you must stay, of course.

Of course.

Do you still have this thingamabob?

Thingamabob?

You mean Excaliboom! Yes.

Well, what's left of it.

And you say you made this?

Yeah, but it never really worked before.

When the disarrays were closing in,

I guess I kinda forgot it wasn't real.

Forgot?

Yeah. It just felt real. Just for a moment.

I don't know how to explain it, but I can't get it to work now.

I think it's broken.

Fascinating.

Can you fix it?

Hey!

It's not that piece of cardboard that has powers, boy. It's you.

Me?

You made it, didn't you?

Well, yeah.

Just like you made that flying sack that propelled you through that window?

It's more of a jet pack than a--

Wait. How did you know about that?

You are the one who is giving these creations their power.

It's almost spryte-like.

Spryte-like?

So, does that mean…

Am I a spryte?

I'm a spryte!

I knew I didn't fit in with the humans!

I was supposed to be here. I was a spryte all along!

You are not a spryte, my boy.

You're human.

But…

Are you sure? I'm just like everyone else?

You are certainly not like everyone else.

You're not like anyone else, little wolf.

Little wolf?

Little wolf.

I know who you are and who you will become.

Are you listening?

Yeah. Sorry, what?

Now, I don't want you to worry.

Just keep that mask on and keep your head down.

But wait. If I'm really a human, what happened in the Guardian Lab?

Do I really have powers?

All in good time. All in good time.

And what is the meaning of this?

We weren't listening! No, no.

We were just leaning.

Yes, that's it. Leaning.

You know, sometimes you just need a good lean.

I need you three to lay low. Much, much lower than before.

Nobody must discover who he is.

What? Why? Who am I?

No more questions.

The three of you must stay in your dorm until further notice.

But, sir--

No ifs, no buts, no coconuts.

Especially no coconuts.

So we're grounded now? That's just great.

You really have a talent for messing things up, Wolfboy.

If that even is your real name.

Maybe it would be better for everyone

if you went back to the surface where you belong.

But he belongs here.

No, I'm not a spryte.

Xandra's right. I don't belong here either.

Look, what say we go back to the dorm and have a nice tea party?

Wolfy, you can pick the biscuits.

I'm sorry, Sprout. I'm just not in the mood.

Not in the mood? For biscuits?

I wish Luxcraft would just tell me what was going on.

What do you mean, tell you what's going on?

I don't know.

I just get the feeling that he's not telling me everything.

And then there was his necklace…

His necklace?

Yeah. He was wearing this pendant.

The weird thing is, I'm sure I've seen it before.

I had a sort of flashback.

-Did you now? -I did.

It was like a very hazy memory.

And I heard this voice saying something about knowing who I really am?

And… If I could just remember more.

Too bad we have to stay in our dorm,

otherwise you could have gone to the Memory Maze.

-The what? -The Memory Maze.

It's where all the world's memories are stored.

That sounds perfect. Let's go there.

What? No! Well, I didn't mean we'd actually--

And if we can find my memory,

we might be able to find out what Luxcraft is hiding.

Okay. Hold on--

We'll finally get some answers.

Now, wait just one minute.

It's strictly forbidden to go into the Memory Maze without a guardian spryte.

Xandra's a guardian spryte… in training.

No, no, no!

Luxcraft explicitly said to stay in our dorm and have a nice tea party.

But it'll be such an adventure.

You go if you want.

Sprout and I are going to have a tea party of our own. Right, Sprout?

Please?

I need to find out what's going on.

Okay, Wolfy. I'll go.

What? No!

It's okay, Xandra. If you don't wanna come, we'll be okay.

Okay, I'll come.

-You will? -Thank you, Xandra.

I'm not doing it for you. I'm doing it for Sprout.

But if we must do something this stupid, we're doing it my way.

Deal.

Here's what we'll do…

What are you doing in the hall after lights-out?

Come on. Out with it.

Impudence! What is your name?

And how are you spelling that?

How dare you! Come back here. I am the law!

This place is huge.

How do we even know where to start looking?

You'll need a guideling.

Wow.

It'll guide you through the maze.

Aren't you a helpful little guideling?

What's it doing?

It's tuning itself to you.

Just relax and focus on that memory so we can get this over with.

Come on. We can't lose that guideling.

You do not want to get lost in this place.

Wait for me.

And to think we could be having biscuits right now. And tea.

All safe and cozy.

What does that sign mean?

It's nothing. Just watch out for the memory mites.

The what now?

Memory mites. They're a type of disarray.

They infest the maze and feed on the memories.

Luckily, brave guardian sprytes patrol the lab,

guarding the world's memories from the memory mites.

But the maze is so vast, theirs is a constant battle.

This is why all memories fade over time.

Xandra? These mites only eat memories, right?

They wouldn't eat tasty little sprouts?

Don't worry, Sprout. If anything happens--

You're right! We have Wolfboy with us now.

Those disarrays better watch out.

I don't know about that.

I do know.

You'd really give 'em what for, just like you did in the Guardian Lab.

You'd be all like, "Pow, boom, bah!"

-I would? -That's right, you would.

And the disarrays would be like, "Eeh!" And I'd be like, "Hooray!"

You're just saying that.

Hey, come on, slowpoke. The guideling's going this way.

Maybe you two should go ahead.

What about you?

-You don't need me anymore. -But you don't have a guideling.

What if you get lost?

I don't need the great Wolfboy to protect me.

I'll be fine on my own.

Xandra, we should all stick together.

Have fun with your new best friend.

Xandra, wait.

Xandra!

I don't think Xandra likes me much.

Don't worry. She just takes a little while to warm up.

Will she be all right?

-On her own? -Oh, yes.

She's the toughest, bravest, strongest spryte I know.

-Just like her parents were. -Her parents?

Yeah. They were brave guardian sprytes too.

But they died when she was very little.

That's so sad.

Then she came to live with me and my family.

That must have helped a lot, having a good friend like you.

I never really had many people around growing up.

It was just me and Mum.

Yeah, Xandra's kind of like that too.

She finds it hard to make friends. But she has me.

And now she's got you too.

Wow.

Hey, look. The guideling.

It's stopped.

"The Memories of William Wolfe, Age One."

These are all my memories?

It's like a Wolfboy storybook!

Hey, I remember Teddy. He was my best friend.

I think me and Teddy would have been great friends too.

Like I said, I've never had friends before.

But now you do.

No. No. No.

There! That's it.

The pendant.

Luxcraft, would you stop playing around?

What are we going to do?

I don't see what the problem is. She's gone.

For now. But she will return.

And when she does, she'll come for the boy.

Come now, Luxcraft. What would she want with a human child?

If this boy is who I think he is--

Even if he is, it would be madness to bring him to the Factory.

What if I am right, and she finds him?

It cannot be allowed to happen!

We should take him with us, to protect him. To prepare him.

I'm sorry, Luxcraft. It's too risky.

He must stay on the surface, where he belongs.

They don't yet realize who you are, but I do.

I know who you are and who you will become.

Stay safe, little wolf.

So, Professor Luxcraft knew you before you even came down here?

I guess.

I knew he was hiding something.

Who was he talking to?

I don't know.

And who does he think you are?

I don't know.

And who is he worried would come looking for you?

I don't know! But I need to find out.

Oh, dear.

Sprout?

Xandra!

Help!

Xandra!

Sprout? I'm coming!

Help!

Is that thing still behind us?

No. I think we lost it.

We didn't lose it!

Let go!

-Xandra! -Sprout!

Leave me alone!

He's got Wolfboy!

Hey!

Thanks, Xandra.

Keep formation. Advance with me.

Oh, crumbs.

If something happens to me, tell my twigs I love them.

And Norman. Poor Norman.

-What's it doing? -What?

Make it stop!

What?

It stopped.

What's that?

What?

Oh, no.

What? What's happening?

I think it was calling for backup.

Memory mites.

Run!

Oh, no!

We've got you, Sprout.

Now what?

We stand and we fight.

Stand back, you two. I'll handle this.

What are you doing?

I'm not letting you face this alone. I'm with you.

Why?

Because friends stick together.

That's so sweet.

But there's thousands of them!

We need a new plan, quick.

Okay. New plan.

Xandra!

Xandra!

We did it!

Don't you ever do that again.

Now, I have just one question.

How are we getting down?

Since they're coming up.

I have a plan.

Yes!

Nice job, human.

Run!

Memory guardians!

What are you sprytelings doing here?

We can deal with these memory mites.

Take this. And get your friends to safety.

There's been another breach.

In the Memory Maze. Hundreds of them!

Don't you see the disarrays are on the rise?

We can't ignore this any longer. The prophecy says--

Prophecy? This flimshaw again?

We don't have time for your nonsense, Luxcraft.

Flimshaw to your flimshaw!

It's not nonsense.

Let me bring the boy here.

We can train him.

Prepare him for what's to come and for the role he's destined to play.

We will need him. It's the only way.

Do you even know where the boy is?

No.

But we have to act.

The time has come. She is behind this.

I'm sorry, Luxcraft,

but we can't be sure this disarray attack has anything to do with her.

Disarrays attack all the time. That's just the way of things.

Then I'll find another way to prove it to you.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a journey ahead of me.

Luxcraft, don't be hasty.

Let the old fool go.

So, Luxcraft wanted to bring you here,

but the others said it was too dangerous?

Yeah, and that I didn't belong here.

Well, I'm glad you're here, human. I don't mind a bit of danger.

Same here!

Well, not the danger bit.

I just want to thank you two for helping me.

I mean, I--

Okay, don't get all weepy on us now.

But I'm sorry if I was a bit of a--

A grumpy bum?

Yeah. Something like that.

My queen.

The boy. He is here.
