02x08 - The Fireman's Inferno

Post by bunniefuu »

[eerie music playing]

[breathing heavily]

[heavy breathing continues]

[distant whisper]

[Chris gasps]

[woman screams]

I'm Eli Roth.

I've spent my life

telling horror stories.

But imagine if those stories

were real, and suddenly,

you found yourself stalked

and tormented by an evil spirit,

and no one believed you.

I wasn't going insane.

[man] It makes

you feel helpless.

It was terrifying.

These are the actual

tales of terror,

as told by you, the victim,

who came face-to-face

with their demons,

and survived.

[siren wailing]

Working as a fireman

has always been my dream.

The thrill of jumping

in a fire truck

and rescuing somebody

it was always a pull

to be a fireman for me.

I just enjoy helping people.

I've seen a lot of things

on the job,

but nothing's terrified me

as much as this.

[grunting]

Chris, it's almost 9:00.

[Chris grunts] I know.

I know.

Me and Ava

went to school together

and we kind of grew

a bond that way.

We didn't start

seeing each other

till years after school.

We kinda ran into each other

on social media.

And then from there,

we started talking.

And then, we eventually,

you know, we went out,

had conversations, um,

that's kind of, uh, catching up,

high school friends.

We liked the same music,

we liked the same things.

She's got a good personality,

she's funny, she's outgoing.

That's kind of what sparked it.

You know, we were big on,

you know,

big friend get-togethers,

bonfires,

that kind of thing,

and we just started hanging

out more and more

and that's how we developed

a relationship.

Hey! Have you

seen my belt?

[chuckles] What are you, 12?

[Chris sighs] Wow!

That's amazing!

It's hanging on the door

in our bedroom.

[Chris] Oh, thanks.

See you tonight. I'm cooking.

Every morning, I like to get up,

before shifts,

stop at the store,

grab a couple of energy drinks

to help me get through the day.

Oh!

- Hey, sorry.

No worries, man.

Hey, you're a fireman.

- Yeah.

- I always wanted to be a fireman.

- Oh, yeah?

I took the test and I failed.

They said they'd get back to me.

I had to really train for it.

It was hard.

I bet you knew somebody, right?

No. No, I didn't actually.

Listen, come down

to the station sometime,

I'll show you around.

Really? You mean that?

Of course.

[Robert] I'm Robert.

[Chris] Chris.

I figured

it was just kind of, like,

he just wanted to have a talk

about the fire department.

So, I was trying to think of what

I could have done to help him.

I never really thought

I'd be seeing him again.

I wonder what

I'm gonna do with these

two aces.

[chuckles]

[Chris] I was hoping

for a relaxing day

at the fire department.

Typical day, you know,

you get there,

you just clock in,

truck checks, that kinda thing.

Yeah, I'm a bad actor.

[all giggling]

Again.

I'm folding too.

[woman chuckles]

That's not funny.

You hustled me.

[Marty] You're right.

It's not funny. It's not funny.

It is hilarious.

[all laughing]

[alarm blaring]

[Chief Jenkins] Okay,

listen up, everybody.

We got a 71 E1 on Cedarbrook

Road, north bound.

E1.

Car crash?

You got it, rookie.

[Chris] At least it's close.

And if they don't make it,

you know the rule.

Rule?

A big rule when we're

dealing with fatalities

is to not make eye contact

with the deceased.

It can cause a lot

of nightmares,

night terrors for us,

that kind of thing.

[alarm blaring]

[sirens wailing]

[woman 1] What happened?

He came out of nowhere.

[woman 2] You just

focus on me, okay?

[woman 1] Is he all right?

Is it gonna be okay?

[woman 1] What happened?

[woman 2] You just

focus on me, okay?

We just called it.

It looks like he died on impact.

[Chris]

When I recognized

this is the guy I had a

conversation with this morning

[Robert] I'm Robert.

I was run with emotions.

My heart was racing really bad.

I've never dealt with

a fatality or an accident

of somebody I knew.

Help me!

Please, help me!

Please!

Promise me you'll help me.

I will, I promise. I promise!

I was very shooken up.

I thought he did survive.

But I had to come back

to the realization that

he was really dead.

[indistinct chatter on radio]

What is it?

Over there.

Where?

See you tomorrow.

[Chris] Good night.

[exhales deeply]

Are you okay?

[Chris] Yeah, I'm fine.

All right.

[electrical buzzing]

Marty?

Hello?

You there?

Marty?

Lights were flickering.

I saw what looked like

a dark outline of somebody.

I kept thinking,

"Am I seeing things?"

I had no idea that my life was

about to be turned upside down.

The end of my shift,

I grabbed my duffle bag

that I bring in every day.

Little backpack, duffle bag.

I put it in my car.

Started my car,

started driving home.

When I got home, I was still

really sad and depressed

and I was looking forward

to putting it all behind me,

kind of moving on with my day.

[shoes thudding]

Tough day?

You wanna talk about it?

I think I'm just

gonna go to bed.

Good night.

I was really on edge.

I didn't know where to turn.

[tires screeching]

- [car horn honks]

Please, help me!

[siren wailing]

[distant clacking]

[clacking continues]

[clacking continues]

[clacking]

[knocking on door]

[electrical buzzing]

[Chris]

I was freaked out.

Who was it? What was it?

When I started hearing

noises in my house,

I never assumed that I was

gonna get that bad.

[knocks on door]

[knocking continues]

[knocking]

Ava?

Are you spying?

[sighs in relief] Yeah.

Come on, let me show you

how it's coming along.

Here it is.

Wow!

It's beautiful.

It's for Rachel. Awards night.

If she likes this dress, then

I could get the contract job,

and then no more waitressing.

Mmm-hmm.

Chris, are you even listening?

Of course.

I thought I saw something.

Something?

You know, forget it.

It looks great.

She's gonna love it.

It really wanted me to know

that something was there.

And it needed attention.

[Ava] Hey.

- [Chris] Hey.

I'm having a work call.

Think you can keep an eye

on the roast?

Okay. Smells good.

[distant whisper]

[glass shattering]

[distant whisper]

[oven beeping]

I asked you to watch it!

[Chris] I did.

I just looked.

[grunts]

A lot of things

would happen in our home

that was unexplained,

and she would blame it on me.

We would fight and bicker,

being like,

"No, no, no. This is real

and this is why it's real,"

and then she'd basically be

like, "No, that's not possible."

She did witness some

things unexplained.

But she would shake it off

and say,

"It was just natural causes."

Of, like, you know,

the house settling,

or the shadow in the house

would be a car that drove by,

that kind of thing.

She would never openly admit,

being like,

"Hey, that is a spirit",

because she was

so skeptic about it.

It made me sad. It kinda

made me angry sometimes,

you know, 'cause I wanted

I wanted her to be on the same,

I guess, platform as I was.

I wanted her to understand,

you know, what was going on

and this is what

was actually going on.

So, it was almost like I had

to try to prove to her

it was real constantly, and no

matter what you showed her,

just, it doesn't exist.

It was hard to sleep at night.

Because I felt there's a spirit,

or some type of entity

in the home

causing all this stuff

to happen.

[wood creaking]

[soft thudding]

[soft thudding continues]

[man whispers softly] Chris.

[Chris gasps] Oh!

You don't know

why it's happening,

where it's coming from.

And it started getting worse.

[grunts]

[distant squeaking]

[squeaking continues]

[Chris] When I saw

the bathroom mirror,

it really freaked me out.

And it just started getting

more aggressive.

I've reviewed your return back,

and I'm missing some

documents, though.

I've highlighted the ones

that I need.

Chris? You okay?

[Chris] Yeah.

Didn't get much sleep

last night.

[Lucy] Mmm. [chuckles]

My brother used to have

trouble sleeping.

He would chew Valerian root.

It stinks something awful,

but he swore by it.

Maybe you could give that a try.

[Chris] Yeah, I might.

Can you ask him

where he gets it?

He passed away recently.

Sorry.

We've got a lot

to review here. Uh

So, as I'd mentioned

on the phone,

I do have some deductions

coming your way,

which is great.

I'm gonna

[voice fades]

- [eerie music playing]

Are you sure you're okay?

Yeah, I'm fine.

Okay.

Yeah, so I'm just going

to quickly go through these

while I have you here.

[Chris gasping]

[Lucy] Chris?

[Chris breathing heavily]

Sorry. I

I'm not feeling so good.

Okay. It's okay.

I should, uh

I should go.

[Lucy] Sure.

We can do this some other time.

You're watching

A Ghost Ruined My Life.

I felt like something

was stalking me,

but I didn't know why.

The squeezing,

feeling the finger

impressions, you know,

it's scary.

[glass shatters]

[door squeaking]

[suspenseful music playing]

[Chris screams]

What are you doing with that?

Chris!

[Chris] I just

What is wrong with you?

I just saw

Can you give me

that back, please?

I kept having flashbacks

where I felt like I kept

seeing stuff.

Broken glass.

The mirror.

The tattoo.

I realized that the spirit

haunting me

was the driver from

the accident, Robert.

Please, help me!

[Chris] I didn't know

why this was happening.

I've been on the scene

of other fatalities,

but nothing like this has

ever happened to me.

A ghost?

You saw a ghost?

[Chris] Yeah.

I did.

Your mind is playing

tricks on you.

I know what I saw.

She is very skeptical.

She doesn't believe

in the paranormal.

So, everything

that I was saying, um,

just was taboo.

You see a lot of terrible

things at your job.

That's gotta do

something to you.

I think you could use

someone to talk to.

This isn't stress.

[sighs]

[Chris] This was really starting

to affect my relationship.

There was a lot of tension.

And it was very stressful.

There is a spirit

in the home with us.

So, it felt like I was

stuck in a terror.

[passing vehicle honks]

[car horn honks]

[grunting]

Please!

Please!

[screaming]

[panting and gasping]

[gasps and screams]

Hey, what's going on?

Chris, what happened?

Things were getting worse.

I didn't know what to do.

Welcome back to

A Ghost Ruined My Life.

My state of mind deteriorated.

So I had to take

leave from work.

I didn't wanna relive

the incident more and more.

It was sad for me, because

I love being a fireman.

But I had to put

my mental health first.

Take care.

- Thanks, man.

[woman] You're out of here?

- Yeah.

All right.

Bye.

- Take care.

When I was going through this

whole incident and everything,

I wasn't out

in the field as much.

My chief is trying to find

ways for me to

do different things,

but keep working, um,

instead of taking a break.

But I didn't really

wanna go anywhere.

I was always tired all the time.

I was calling out

of work constantly.

Um, it was just

I couldn't focus.

I love my job, but there are times

that I didn't wanna go to work.

I told my chief

I couldn't do this anymore.

And he kind of understood

and he said, you know,

"The job's always here

if you wanna come back."

But for now, um,

I need to step down.

[indistinct whispering

and voices]

[breathing shakily]

[man whispers softly] Chris.

[Chris gasps]

[panting]

[Ava screams]

How could you?

I didn't do this.

[Ava] Then who did?

It was

You need help.

Real help.

I would never do

something like this to you.

I'm sorry, Chris,

but I can't live like this.

I'm done.

I got very depressed

and closed the world

out away from me.

I was very upset.

Trying to help her understand

what I was feeling

and what I was seeing.

But just not being able

to communicate with her

or have her understand

what I was going through,

it was very traumatizing

and upsetting.

I didn't feel like it was

gonna go away on its own.

I wanted him to move on and

allow me to live my life

and not feel like I am stuck

in a haunted house.

I needed to find out

what he wanted.

When I first saw the picture

of her and Robert together,

I kind of put two

and two together.

[Lucy] My brother used

to have trouble sleeping.

He passed away recently.

I thought that maybe he

still had unfinished business.

[knocks on door]

Hi.

Chris, what are you doing here?

Your brother was Robert Hooter.

I was there with him,

the night of the crash.

[Lucy] Oh!

[Chris] I'm sorry.

There was nothing I could do.

I'm sure you did every

Sorry.

It's just a little much

to process right now.

I'm not sure how to tell

you this, but I keep

seeing your brother.

He's haunting me.

And I don't know why.

I know that this probably

sounds crazy, but

No.

It doesn't.

I was telling her

what was going on

with me and she wanted

to kind of

try to communicate with him.

So, me and Lucy planned

on doing a seance

to communicate with Robert.

I love my brother.

But Robert had his demons.

He was so angry and resentful

about how his life

had turned out.

But why was he so mad at me?

It's what we need to find out.

Put your hands like this

on the board.

[Chris] Okay.

Robert, are you here?

Robert, if you're here,

please, just let us know.

Robert?

Is that you?

What is it that you want?

Why are you so angry?

"H

I

M."

"Him."

You.

Chris.

Robert, what happened

isn't Chris's fault.

Chris, can you hear me?

Chris!

[Robert] Chris.

[Robert speaking indistinctly]

Chris.

[speaking indistinctly]

Chris.

Ah!

- [grunting]

You were in an accident.

You were already dead.

Please, help me!

There was nothing I could do.

You have to let go.

Let go.

[panting]

[exhales deeply]

After we did the seance,

I believe Robert

was able to move on.

It's very possible for you

to just meet somebody random

and have an attachment.

I don't believe that he knew

that he was dead.

It was such a aggressive accident

that had happened so quick.

Maybe the haunting

was so aggressive,

but it was the only way that

Robert could communicate.

I'm constantly worried

that another ghost will attach

itself to me again.

So I've learned to be more

cautious and careful.

I've recovered

from the haunting,

but I don't believe I'll ever

recover from the incident.
