[Eli] I'm Eli Roth.

I've spent my life

telling horror stories.

But imagine if those stories

were real and suddenly,

you found yourself stalked

and tormented

by an evil spirit

and no one believed you.

I wasn't going insane.

[man] Made me feel helpless.

It was terrifying.

terror as told by you, the victim,

who came face to face with

their demons and survived.

Cameras are rolling in.

You're in a fight for your body,

your life, your soul, whatever.

You don't know

what's at the end of this.

Does the devil himself come?

[Brandi]

After I'd finished college,

the first thing I need to do is

get a job and a nice place to live.

I moved in with my best

friend at the time.

I was excited and it was nice

to be with someone that I knew

and, you know,

not living with a stranger.

Alex, she was wonderful.

Hello?

[Sabrina] Hey.

Brandi, this is Sabrina,

our other room-mate.

Hi.

- She's lived here for

almost eight years now.

Oh, what a great neighborhood.

Should have seen it before

I moved in.

Oh.

Hey, Randy,

this is our home now.

Behave while I put

our stuff, okay?

Yours is down there on the left.

[Brandi] I grew up in Catholic

schools my whole life.

As I got older,

I became a little bit rebellious.

I didn't want any part

of organized religion at all.

But I didn't make

the right decision.

since freshman college.

I'm 2000 miles away

from all my family

and I finally feel like I have

an opportunity to live in a home.

I feel safe and, you know,

it's comfortable.

My room-mates helped with the

cats, so it was really nice.

[knocking on wall]

Everything okay?

I thought I heard something.

It's probably just old pipes

in the walls or something.

Hmm.

Come on, it's been a long day.

Just go back to bed.

[Brandi] That made me

pretty uneasy

because Alex says

she didn't hear anything.

The house was covered with Ivy.

Normally, I love how it looks

on the side of houses

and trellises and all that,

but there was too much of it.

[knocking on wall]

Hello?

[knocking on wall]

[knocking on wall]

Hey, Brandi.

Have you ever heard

any weird sounds in the house?

What sounds?

Like a knocking from the walls.

What do you think?

I think that just

because someone's knocking

doesn't mean

that you should answer.

[Brandi] There's so many

questions that I have,

and Sabrina was not any help.

So that was kind of the

beginning of something's weird,

like, something's off here.

[knocking on wall]

[knocking continues]

Enough.

[Brandi] I hear

that knocking again.

It's like, one, two, three.

One, two, three.

So I knocked back.

And it stopped.

I did not expect

to have more experiences,

but this is just the beginning.

[cat meowing]

[Brandi] It feels like I'm in

the presence of something evil.

I'm in a horror movie

at this point.

[alarm rings]

Morning, B.

I slept through my alarm and I

have an interview in half an hour.

Did you borrow

my red blouse again?

No.

Are you sure?

Brandi, I gave it back to you

before the move.

It'll turn up.

Besides, you look more professional

in the blue one anyways.

[car beeps]

[engine starts]

[Brandi] I had started looking

for a new job.

The plan was to work in local

government and public service.

[Brandi sighs]

[knocking on wall]

[growling]

Alex?

Sabrina?

Sabrina?

What's up, Brandi?

Is Alex home?

No, just me. Are you okay?

Oh.

Guess I'm just getting used

to the sounds of an old home.

[Brandi] You kind of feel like

you're in the middle

of a forest

and something's watching you.

I get goosebumps.

My hair is on edge.

I'm seeing things out of the

corner of my eye that aren't there.

It's it's a constant

feeling of paranoia.

There's something

uninvited here.

Well, there were some things

that kind of jumped out at me.

I said, "Oh, that's weird.

You know, that's odd."

My first thought was, it's Alex.

There had been some issues

with things coming up missing

or things that were used that

permission didn't get asked.

There was a little bit

of tension that was just

starting to build up and

you could feel it.

Stupid old house.

[door closes]

What do you want from me?

[growling]

[Brandi]

There was so much Ivy,

then I start wondering,

how are they connected?

Why why did it use Ivy

to manifest?

It was very strange.

[growling]

Brandi, how the interview go?

It went well.

And I found my blouse.

Told you it'll turn up.

You could have

at least washed it

before you put it back

in my closet.

What?

- It was disgusting.

Uh, I didn't take your shirt.

And if I did, I wouldn't lie

to you about it.

Just apologize

and we can forget it.

Now I'm mad and, um, concerned.

I do not argue or fight

with people ever.

But that uneasiness,

that heaviness in the air,

it was there.

It was there.

I thought it was conflicts,

just individual conflicts.

But I felt that maybe

there was an outside influence

of why there suddenly conflict

that there wasn't before.

[screaming]

[Brandi] As I'm taking

the shower,

then I see something's

in the room with me.

I just felt uneasy,

and it felt like I was being oppressed.

[knocking on wall]

What do you want?

[Alex] Sorry.

I just wanted to see

if you were going to be long.

Uh, sorry, Alex.

I'll be out in ten.

It's all yours.

I'm sorry I yelled at you.

That's okay.

Is everything all right?

You just don't really

seem like yourself.

I've just been on edge

since the move.

Well, we're starting

a new chapter of our lives.

It's gonna feel weird at first.

[screams]

[Brandi] My best friend

is now experiencing things.

It wasn't just me.

There was something there.

I tried to tell her that and it didn't

really seem like she was receptive.

She was like, "Stop.

Just stop. Leave me alone."

[growling]

Did you see that thing?

Are you okay?

[Brandi] I was trying

to kind of see if Sabrina

could tell me something,

but she didn't say anything else about it.

I don't know what it was

that growled at me.

Nothing is there.

I I went back and forth with

myself questioning my sanity.

I know I did not go

back to sleep.

It was stressful

to be going through that

and trying to find work

at the same time.

It was a lot.

Well, you certainly are

qualified for the position.

I think you'll be

a great fit with us.

I have a really

good feeling about this place.

I'll follow up

[Brandi] My main thing

I wanted to do was to be

able to talk to someone,

but things just started to go downhill.

[screaming]

I'm in a horror movie

at this point.

I'm in my own horror movie and I'm losing

control of the direction of the movie.

I'm not getting enough sleep.

There's no light

at the end of the tunnel.

I felt like everything that could

go wrong in my life was going wrong.

Whatever is playing

these games with me was evil.

I felt like I was in a fight

for my soul.

You keep going

deeper, deeper down

the rabbit hole

and you're starting to see

is there a specific demon

or entity after me?

You know, you really do want to

say, "Okay, what's your name?

"Who are you?

"What are your weaknesses?

You know mine."

I got to find answers to this.

I got to figure out

what this is about,

because this is going

to just keep happening.

[Brandi] The house

was in a negative environment.

In the neighborhood,

had some negative things going on.

I felt that it created like

a breeding ground

or it attracted something that needed

to feed off of that negative energy.

Any time things

comes in succession of threes,

it's a mocking of the Trinity.

God, Jesus Christ,

the Holy Spirit.

Three knocks is never good.

When it knocked and I knocked

back, I invited it in.

I went from wanting to give up

and wanting to just say,

forget all of this,

forget the house, forget work,

forget everything,

and finally decided, you know what?

No, that's not

where you come from

and that's not how you're built.

I need to get this

out the house.

I've found my Bible from grade

school, took the Bible out of the box,

and the Bible went on

my night stand after that.

[wood cracking]

[indistinct]

[screaming]

Stop screaming, Brandi. Stop.

There was something else.

There's nobody else here.

But I But

Just just stop, okay?

We're sick of your imagination

running wild.

Alex, just listen.

You let it in, didn't you?

You knocked back.

You knew what's been

happening this whole time

and you didn't say anything

to back me up.

It it affected me.

It affected me really bad.

And so I thought that maybe

it was happening to me

because I had rejected

organized religion

and this was something that I did

to myself that I brought on myself.

You've invited this thing

in because you didn't stay

on the path that you, you know,

you were put in since kindergarten.

Sabrina?

It's addressed to you.

She moved out

in the middle of the night.

[Brandi] The situation was frightening

because I didn't have control.

I didn't know

how to get out of it

and I didn't know

if I was gonna die.

The cost of living

is just ridiculous.

So I couldn't leave even though

I don't feel safe anymore.

[knocking on wall]

[monstrous voice] Brandi.

Brandi.

Get the hell away from me.

Get out.

[Brandi] I felt that

I was a puppet.

Brandi was gone,

like, just gone.

Alex was afraid that

it would happen again.

Once you, like,

have been violated like that, it's

you're wondering, is

is this gonna be every night?

Is something else coming?

Alex?

[knocking on wall]

[growling]

Randy, let's go.

Randy.

Randy?

Randy?

[growling]

[growling]

[screaming]

And now the terrifying finale

of A Ghost Ruined My Life.

[screaming]

[Brandi] I was gone

and I felt a weight

had kind of been lifted

off of me when I moved out.

I never found out

what is after me.

I don't know. And that's

that's what I'm still trying to find the

answers to, what is the point of this?

I've only kept in touch

with Alex a couple of times.

Everything was going great

for her.

She's got a good job.

She loves where she lives.

She didn't have anything

negative to report.

I'm a different person

than I was before.

I am always looking

over my shoulder.

I'm always checking

the room before I go to bed.

I'm always looking

for anything out of place,

any shadow

that shouldn't be there.

It was a gradual kind of bringing

church back into my life.

I'm drawing a line in the sand and

saying, this is where I stand.

Forget what's happened

the last nine or ten years.

If you take me back,

I'll come back.

You don't say, dummy, I'm here.

And so that was what happened.

I'm in control now

and nobody can hurt me.
