they've been around bear.

But Autumn says that they
have never reacted this way.

Something's upsetting
the horses.

what I wanna do is

go back where the river is

and see if we can find
any physical evidence

of what could've been
approaching our camp.

Lots of tracks. Look at that.

So we got... deer, coyote...

that looks like bobcat.

I mean, we're definitely
seeing more and more tracks

the further out we go.

[Autumn] Stay to this
side of the rock.

It gets kinda
deep right there.

[Mireya] Wait, wait, wait,
wait, wait.

What's that up there? Hold on.

That looks like a big track.

-[Autumn] Yeah.
-You see it? That's huge.

[Mireya] You know, why don't
we hop off and take a look?

All day, Autumn and I
had been seeing tracks.

But, they were tracks that
you would expect
to find out here.

Dear, fox, mountain lion.

So, when this track
captured my attention,

it was because of how
massive it was.

This looked like
a really large track.

And not only that,
it looked somewhat similar

to the footprint Russell found
in Washington state last year.

[Russell] Look at this...

that is a footprint.

[Autumn] You've got
this arch here

-and a really deep heel.
-Yeah. Mm-hmm.

[Autumn] And this bend here,

-like a giant foot.
-Yeah.

[Mireya] I mean, I can't
rule out that it wasn't a bear

and this is a double-step.

now that I'm standing here,

see that track over there?

That definitely
looks like bear.

more like a bear.

[Mireya] That right there,
is definitely bear.

From on top of the horse

this looked like a really
large and promising track.

So, it's possible...

that, that is a double step.

As I got closer though,

I noticed that what
we had there was
a double-step from a bear.

Where the backfoot falls
just slightly in front
of the front foot,

leaving an impression
of just one giant track.

All right. Well, this is
the sort of thing

that definitely
we wanna look out for.

-Just something that looks...

either out of place or
really large in scale.

-Yeah.
-This is why it's so important

when you find a track, to look
for a second or a third.

back up on the horses

The information and the detail
that you might get

from those other tracks

will corroborate what
you think you're looking at

in the first place.

if you can see it but,
that hillside, way over there,

that's where I was just at.

There was something moving.

I don't know. It doesn't look
like it's been laying here.

It's not like it's a bed
or anything. It's just...

This piece on the hillside
is tore up.

If you come into this place,

you're trying
to piece it together

First off, you're thinking,

are there any footprints I can
see exactly what it was?

I can't see anything

that looks like a bear print
or a boot print.

Looks like there's a scratch
in that rock.

What's got my attention?

There's a large rock.

It looks like
a big piece of slate.

And it's exposed
and it's got these

strike-marks on it.

Like, something
was hitting it.

See how it's been hit
and struck here.

That's been scuffed up by...
that's not a stick.

That's maybe, using another
rock to do it.

A hoof mark won't make
a mark like that.

Neither will claws of a bear.
This was stone on stone.

A bear can't grab one rock
and hit another rock with it.

It's impossible.

Look at the bottom
of this rock.

See how that's beaten away?

Something had to have
had a hold at this...

in order to strike
that stone with it.

I'm gonna take that rock.

If something grabbed hold
of that rock,

there should be DNA on it.

But, why would it do this?

Look how it has been
broken off.

Something had to have been
holding onto this.

This is what separates

me thinking it's a bear

and thinking
it's something else.

a little dry to be
digging for grubs.

it doing here?

What if he's using this stone

to make a noise
to signal others?

I think this thing
was signaling.

It was communicating

other type beings
in that area,

either to warn it,
to let it know

its location or to stay away
or to come in.

That's the only theory
I can come up with.

is the movement.

The way that the head
looks around

before it walks off,

there's a head to floor
vertical position

-that is not like a bear's.

any other animal out here

that would move like that.

actually found something here.

on the map that this is, Russ?

this thing fast.

of this thing.

was up on this hillside.

And it was coming
straight down
through this way.

we all leave traces and tracks

and even shed DNA.

suddenly hot on the trail

of whatever it is
that Russ saw on camera.

So, we have an
opportunity here.

I wanna find the answers
to the unanswered.

the owls, nothing is moving.

That's recent.

out of the ordinary

and out of place.

a "Do Not Disturb,"
doesn't it?

This feels like
something put it here.

got an animal,

gonna get its legs caught up.

One thing I noticed right away

is that the forest
surrounding this area

is so dense

that it's practically
impenetrable.

where the path closes off too.

This reminds me of
that logger in Washington

who stumbled upon
what he thought was

a Bigfoot nesting site.

He told me it was under this
perimeter wall

of thicket and hard brush.

And there is lot of...
lot of thorns, lots of bramble

and that sort of stuff.

They're, like, so thick that
you had to crawl
under some of it.

[Bryce] And that's
exactly the terrain
that we're seeing here.

What you got on the other

And then it opens up,

this chain-link fence.

And it dawns on me

that this is what
Chris Duncan was describing

during his
remote viewing session.

a this thing...

To me, what this usually is,
is some type of fence.

Like, a chain-link fence.

over and over again.

What is this?

This is one of those
specific landmarks that Ronny

was told we would run into

before we got
to what we're looking for.

You can't really ignore
that kind of evidence.

This is starting
to all come together.

I mean, this thing's
smack-dab in the trail here.

This fence, he was

And when I saw that,
it slammed my mind like...

that's what we're looking for.

He said, there's physical

weren't hairs that belong

to bear or deer
or any other animal

that I could easily recognize
from out here.

So, if this was fur,
you'd see guard hair

and then, you'd like,
see the underfur.

-Because, primates...

...for example, only have
one type of hair.

And this is one type of hair.

Oh...

-It looks like human hair.
Doesn't it?

One of the pieces of gear
that I carry with me

is a very, very small
portable microscope.

This is actually
connects to my cellphone

and it allows me
to look at hair.

And it magnifies it so large

that I can tell
if it has a medulla.

[narrator] Two years ago,

anthropologist and Bigfoot
researcher, Dr. Jeffry Meldrum

provided key information
about what type of hair

to look for.

[Jeff] With alleged
sasquatch's hair,

one of the most
telling features is

the lack of cellular medulla.

[narrator] The medulla is

the innermost structure
of the hair.

In species such as Bigfoot,

it should be largely absent.

[Mireya] Right now...

I can say that there's no...

medulla present.

If there was a medulla...

inside that hair,

you would see a band

going through
the middle of that hair

and there's no medulla
in there.

So, that's promising.

in the evidence.

Mireya and I are trekking up
this steep ravine.

It's soaking wet,

when out of nowhere,
my foot basically

stumbles upon

these twigs and branches

that are interwoven
with each other.

What do you think this is?

I mean, frankly,

the fact that we're
close to the water

and you've got
this secluded area.

I mean, you know how difficult
it was for us to get in here.

[sighs in exasperation]

This reminds me of

a gorilla nest.

Like, this is, sort of,
what they make these,

sort of cushiony, leafy

type areas that they
bed down in at night.

-Yeah.
-And then,
you've got the river

right there. So, this is...

This is a really good find.

This is something that was
so easy to overlook

because of the fact
that it blends in
to the environment so well.

But when we started
taking a closer look,

we realized that

there were parts of it
that had been constructed,

woven, intentionally placed

and that's precisely

the sort of structures
that we looked for.

See this pine? It's not
the same pine as this.

This is redwood pine.

[Bryce] Yeah. That is strange.

[Mireya] And there's
none of this around us.

So, it's not a natural fall.

This was brought in
and placed here

for a reason.

How old do you think this is?

I mean, to me,
this looks really recent.

Very recent.

We should really, maybe
bring the guys back here.

I'd love to look at this
during the day.

It's kinda
difficult right now.

I'd pretty much
walked right through it.

In the middle of the night,
under these conditions,

it's clear that,
had Bryce not stumbled

into this nest,
we would've never seen it.

So, what we need to do
is come back in the morning

when we can actually see,

to make sure that
we don't damage

any of the evidence here.

what looks like
a potential bedding site.

we're looking for.

From where we were,

exploring this area
in the dark.

So, we're gonna put up
some trail cams

to cover this nest,

in case whatever built it

comes back
to this are tonight.

to the site where we found

this possible nesting site.

Last night, it was almost
impossible to really

take a good look at it

and collect the evidence
that we need.

-You can still smell it.
-[Ronny] I can smell it
just walking up to it.

Not as strongly as last night,

-but you can still smell it.

Yeah, It's deliberately, like,
the pine is being used
to cover up the smell.

[Bryce] So yeah, this is where
I came through last night

and then, as you can see,
that big impression,

that's exactly where
I stepped into it.

[Russell] I can see
what it was before

that center got collapsed.

But you can tell
it's circular.

[Mireya] If you look
over there too,

see how that's all woven,

and basically this is just
one giant piece.

Wow.

[Mireya] And that I know of,
there's no animal here that
would make a nest like this.

No. Not that I know of either.

Whatever built this nest

was quite a ways ahead of me.

This thing can traverse
this area much faster
than I can.

And if it knew
we were getting close,

it was able to leave.

But one thing
it left behind...

was that smell.

You know what, it smells
like a dog that got
sprayed by a skunk...

-...and came home wet.

-...It's got all that.
-[Mireya] That's it. Yeah.

Well, the interesting
thing too,

you get this huge stump
back here that's blocking

-anything this way.
-Yeah.

So, this thing
is perfectly placed

where you wouldn't be
able to see it

or get to it from
a bunch of different angles.

What's been reported
when people have discovered

these nests, they're in areas

that are almost impossible

for us to get through.

And this nest has that
unbelievable vantage point.

This is where a Bigfoot
would position their nest.

[Mireya] If we're able to find
more of them...

When I saw this nest...

I felt like I was floating.

I could not believe that
we actually had discovered

another nest.

Look at that.

All interwoven.

human DNA on this.

the freaking nest.

Looks like it's all woven too.

-It's intertwined through.

You know, what's amazing is
that, this is a smaller size

than the one that we just
saw back over there.

So, if this is a family group,

this could be
one of the smaller ones,
the juvenile.

[Russell] What's weird
is I can see

where the other nest is
from here.

You got a line of sight?

Holy [bleep] dude.

One thing that
we noticed right away

was this direct line of sight

from the smaller nest

to the larger one.

Maybe we're looking
at a juvenile's nest

and mama's nest
is within close sight,

so she can keep an eye
on her young.

We're standing over a nest
right now.

And what's even weirder is

you guys are in
our line of sight.

Are you serious?

Ronny and Russell were able
to locate another nest

and given the proximity
of this nest,

my feeling is,

is that these animals
were nesting together.

If in fact, Bigfoot is
a territorial animal,

there's no way that
another individual

would be nesting there without
the other's permission.

But Russ noticed
this line of sight

from this nest
to the other one.

-[Mireya] Good find, you guys.

get that scent here.

-This looks like a smaller
nest than that one.
-[Ronny] Yeah.

Like a little juvenile
or baby and...

Which could explain
why it doesn't smell.

'Cause generally
the silverback in a group is

who gives off that scent.

It's not the females,
it's not the juveniles.

-It's the silverback.

-This is insane.
-It's so thick.

It goes about this deep.

-Watch how deep
this thing is. Mireya, watch.

-That's a lot of cushion.
-That is very classic
gorilla nest.

[Bryce] Let's look for hairs
and get some more eDNA, huh?

The fact that we have more
than one nest site now

is really exciting.

Because, it's gonna give us
so much more information

and possibly give us insight

into relationship information

between the two individuals

that may have
created these nests.

All I want is the dirt.
That's perfect.

I feel like we may
get the answers
that we're looking for.

-We have two nests.

That's incredible.

Look, even in describing
a new species,

you have one sample

and that's not even
gonna be accepted
in the scientific community.

You have to have
as many samples

-of anything, as possible.

to see these things

in groupings
and find multiples,

then you start to say, "Okay,

we've got something here."

[Bryce] Yeah,
this feels exciting.

What a find.

Russ, that creature
that you were tracking,

it looks like it's
headed right towards

that federally
protected reserve.

We're less than
an eighth of a mile away.

[Bryce] These nests are right
at the end of our target zone.

And it seems to me
that these creatures

might be escaping into
federally protected lands

where we can't pursue them

without risking prosecution
or other legal jeopardy.

Yeah. I mean, we can't
go in there,

we can't do anything about it.

But, maybe, it will
come back out.

This is the perfect place
that I would be coming back.

I mean, if an animal has

-a territory, so they might
abandon a nest like this...

...move somewhere else,
but at some point,

they know this place is here

and that it's
a good place to sleep.

-And you know, we're not done.

thing knows that

we cannot cross that boundary.

And if it gets beyond
that threshold,

that's where this thing
will feel safe.

But, we know it was here.

And when it comes back...

we're gonna get it.

trail cams we've got

One thing we know is that,
animals will

very often go
into protected areas

to be away from humans.

So, we're gonna place
camera traps in the area

and then I think,
a good tactic right now

is to pull back
and observe from a distance.

It's quite possible that
whatever built these
will return.

[Russell] This will work good.

of catching sight

of the animal
that made the nests,

the team has set up
trail cameras

in strategic locations around
the possible bedding sites.

themselves in areas

where they can observe
the territory from afar.

the ground" guy.

But now,
we have to shift gears.

We have video, we have nests

that these things inhabited.

Be on the lookout.

out in front of me.

we could be standing
face to face
in front of this thing.

and nothing.

We'll check them again

staking out the area
for the last two days.

But so far, it's really not

producing much as far as
evidence goes.

It's been a long night.

frustrating at this point.

I feel like nothing's
happening here, I just...

like, we're wasting time
sticking around.

[Mireya] Normally, I would
wanna stay on the move,

but, I think
in this situation,

it makes sense to stay longer.

Because, truly, that patience
does pay off.

Sitting and waiting
is really frustrating.

But, at the same time,

I feel really great about
all of the evidence
that we've gathered.

We have so much
new information

that still needs to be
processed an analyzed.

So, even if we don't catch
a glimpse of whatever
built these nests,

we're gonna have a lot more
answers than we did

when we started.

And that's what an
expedition is about.

We've been observing the area
around those nests

for over two weeks.

And whatever made them
has not returned

as far as we could tell.

The rest of the team
has returned home.

But I came back to check
the cameras one last time.

Now, I just wanna make sure
I grab all of these

and check 'em for evidence.

Hopefully, we got something.

There's just one
trail camera to go.

And it was set up on one
of these trees right there

to cover where we found
those two nests.

It's been knocked over.

That's crazy.

Something knocked
this tree over.

It's like jammed in there.

I don't wanna spend

But, I'm really curious
as to what is on this
trail camera.

This is the one.

I have no idea what that is.

Whatever it is,

I feel like something didn't
want this trail camera...

pointing in that direction.

I'm gonna have to take this
back to the command center,

blow it up, get a better
look at it.

But, for now,

I feel like,
I'm not welcome here.

Wow.

I have no idea

what it is I'm looking at.

It looks like a figure,

but it also looks like

a shadow.

It's very similar to what
Ronny and Mireya

experienced down on that
riverbank in Washington.

-[Mireya] Wait.

a [bleep] shadow.

-And it disappeared.
- [Mireya] What was
that shadow?

What the [bleep] was that?

Here's the difference.

Whatever we captured
on this trail camera

is much larger than
what Ronny and Mireya saw.

I mean, that's a redwood stump

right behind it.

And that's gotta be
13, 14 feet in diameter.

If you assume that this
creature's legs are hidden
by some foliage,

then that puts it at about
seven, eight feet tall.

Man! So, what?

Did we capture Bigfoot?

Did we capture
a shadow entity?

Or just a tall hunter?

I'm not really sure.
But I do know...

that this mystery

seems to just
keep getting deeper.

And as this story expands,

so will our search.

And I can promise you this,
we're not gonna stop

until we get to the bottom

of just what in the hell
is going on out there.
