02x05 - Beagle Appreciation Day

Post by bunniefuu »

[Schroeder] "You Busted My Bust."

All you've gotta do now is kick the ball
through the goalpost for the win.

How do I know you're not going to pull
the football away, like you always do?

What ever happened to teamwork,
Charlie Brown?

Go! Fight! Win!

You're right, Lucy.

Whoa! [groans]

Too bad we're not on the same team.

[groans]

Hi, Charlie Brown,
I just wanna remind you that in three days

it's the birthday of Beethoven,
the world's greatest composer.

Thanks for the tip.

The answer, Miss Othmar, is two,

which is also how many days there are
until Beethoven's birthday.

Hear ye, hear ye.
Beethoven's birthday is tomorrow.

Where does the time go?

[piano music playing]

Happy birthday, Beethoven.
Today's your big day.

- [shouting]
- [laughing]

- [grumbling]
- [squeaks]

Huh?

Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo.

[cheering]

Snoopy.

Did you know today
is Beethoven's birthday?

[gasps]

Stop that racket!

Although, I do like the idea of
throwing him a birthday party.

Finally, everyone can celebrate you
for the genius you are.

No!

Beethoven is a very important composer.

The party has to be serious and dignified.

Better.

Now, you get the word out about the party,

and I'll take care of decorations
and catering.

Uh-huh.

I won't let you down.

[shouting]

A party for Beethoven?

I'm not sure I'm free then.

At Schroeder's house?

Well, why didn't you say so?

Is there gonna be cake?

How about dancing?

Or sitting quietly in the corner?

Will the real Beethoven be there?

Sally, Beethoven was born in the 1770s.

Ugh, old people parties are the worst.

Did I hear there's going to be a party
at Schroeder's house?

[sighs]

Hey, Snoopy.
Did you tell everyone about the party?

Great.

Can you put up the rest of the decorations
while I prepare the Wiener schnitzel?

Huh?

Hmm.

And don't even think
about touching the sheet music.

Hmm.

Maybe the best way to appreciate it
is to put it in the closet.

Hmm.

[whistling]

[groans]

[groans, yells]

[gasps]

[squeals]

[Schroeder] Everything all right in there?

Huh?

[gasps]

[whimpers]

[squeals]

[screams]

- Hmm.
- [door opens]

We're here.

- Cake, cake, cake.
- Let's party!

[Peppermint Patty]
Which way to the dance floor?

The key to delicious Wiener schnitzel
is pre-toasting the bread crumbs.

Snoopy, are the guests here yet?

Remember, it's important
that this birthday party be serious

and full of dignity.

- [dance music playing]
- Ugh! What's that terrible sound?

Outrageous!
The master would never approve.

Great party, Schroeder.
Check out what Snoopy made me.

Yay!

Those aren't party hats.

Well, they make excellent party dresses.

Ugh!

Enough!

[music stops]

Dancing? Fun?

Party hats? Cake?

I brought it from home.

Beethoven deserves respect.

This is no way to honor
a musical genius on his birthday.

Looks to me like the musical genius
likes it a lot.

[groans]

[gasps]

[screams]

[sighs]

Beethoven's birthday is ruined.

I should have known that no one

would appreciate Beethoven
the way I do. [sighs]

[whistling]

[chirping "Für Elise"]

What do you think, Schroeder?

Well, the pitch is off.

Would Beethoven appreciate it?

I'm not sure, but I certainly do.

[scatting]

[squeaks]

[Schroeder] "Hide and Go Snoopy."

[counting]

[chuckles]

[shouts]

Hmm.

[groans]

[chattering]

[chattering]

[counting]

[shouts]

[sniffing]

Ta-da!

[groans]

- Ta-da!
- [groans]

- Ta-da!
- [groans]

- Ta-da!
- [groans]

- Hello, little bird. How are you today?
- Shh.

- Who are you talking to?
- [screams]

Ew, what did I tell you?
We don't talk to wild animals!

[chattering]

Now, come along.

Mom said you have to help
clean up the house.

Rerun's toys are everywhere.

Have a lovely day, little bird.

[groans]

[screams]

- [train whistle blows]
- [Woodstock] Whoa.

[squealing]

[imitates train]

[grunts]

[gasps]

[laughs]

[squeals]

[Lucy] Linus, cut out that racket!

[Linus] It's not me!

Then who's playing the drums?

I must be hearing things.

Whoo-hoo!

Hmm.

[sniffing]

[gasps]

- [chuckles]
- [doorbell rings]

I'm coming.

What do you want?

Hmm.

[counting]

Ta-da!

No, I don't wanna play charades.

I do. Let's see.

Airplane?

Accordion!

Goodbye!

[groans]

[chuckles]

[twittering]

Um, mountain goat?

Billy goat?

Linus!

Stop playing games with that silly dog.
Your bed is not going to make itself.

[sighs]

[cheering through TV]

[classical music playing]

[rock music playing]

[sighs]

[TV continues]

[Lucy] Linus! Why aren't you cleaning?

[Linus] I am cleaning.

[whimpering]

Then who's watching TV?

Ooh, nature documentaries are my favorite.

- [doorbell rings]
- Now what? Better not be that beagle!

[groans]

That's not even how you play charades.

No pictures. That's cheating!

[whimpers]

[sniffles]

[laughing]

- [sighs]
- [chattering]

[Snoopy chortles]

[birds laughing]

[Snoopy chortles]

[sighs]

[chattering]

[shouts]

What's with all the hullabaloo?

[yelps] Wild animal!

Call the fire brigade! Alert the media!

Lock down the house! [screaming]

Here you go, little bird.

[chattering]

What an amazing creature.

[groans] Wild animal germs. Scram!

- [music box playing]
- Huh?

[sniffing]

[squeaks]

- Ta-da!
- [squeals]

[squeaks]

[both sigh]

[chortles]

[Lucy] Linus, stop changing the channel!

[Linus] It's not me!

[both laughing]

[Lucy groans] Where's the remote?

[music box playing]

[laughing]

[scatting]

[squeaks]

[Charlie Brown] "King Snoopy."

Linus, did you know that today
is National Beagle Appreciation Day?

That's today?
It sneaks up on me every year.

I wonder if Snoopy knows.

I have a feeling he does.

[groans]

Happy Beagle Appreciation Day, old pal.

I gave you a little extra in your bowl
in honor of the occasion.

I hope you like it.

[sniffing]

You're right.
You deserve a meal fit for a king.

This may take a while.

[all grunt]

[hums]

[gasps]
Is it Beagle Appreciation Day already?

May I say you look very majestic
in your crown.

Please accept my shovel
as your royal scepter.

All hail King Snoopy.

That is one regal beagle.

[laughs]

What's this?

It's a royal decree from King Snoopy.

He requests the use of your blanket
to fashion himself a royal robe.

That's ridiculous.
I'm not giving him my blanket.

[groans]

Your king thanks you.

[groans] This is the problem
with monarchies and centralized power.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! What's going on here?

This is a royal procession.

We're touring the countryside
with King Snoopy.

What you're doing is making
a racket and disturbing my business.

I assume you have a parade permit?

I, uh, wasn't aware that we needed one.

You do.

And what's with the shovel?

Stop that! You're no king!

Where's your throne, huh?

If you were king, you'd have a throne.

Royal procession?

More like royal pain.

Whoa!

I will not take this lying down.

[straining]

[panting]

[grumbling]

Ta-da!

[all gasp]

[all sigh]

- [grumbling]
- [sighs]

To his greatness, King Snoopy.

May I present your dinner.

Huh?

[Charlie Brown]
I added a little parsley for flare.

[groaning]

Charlie Brown,
your dog is totally out of control.

Just look at him.

- [birds grunting]
- [shouts]

[chattering]

[shouting]

I know he is acting a bit over the top,
but it is his special day.

Lucy's right, Charlie Brown.

I think the whole thing
has gone to Snoopy's head.

[birds grunting]

[shouting]

[sighs] I'll have a word with him
after this next pitch.

[screams]

[chatters]

[grunts]

Ta-da!

[groaning]

Long live King Snoopy!

[chortles]

[birds grumbling, shouting]

[grumbling]

What do you suppose is going on out there?

[grumbling continues]

[squeaks]

If I were to hazard a guess, sir,
it looks like a revolution in left field.

Snoopy, I think you got a little carried
away with Beagle Appreciation Day.

[whimpers]

[sighs]

[gasps] I've been promoted!

[all groan]

Hmm?

[cheering]

[chattering]

Phew.

[cheering]

All hail his Royal Highness, King Rerun.

Mom says you need to come home,
Your Highness. It's dinner time.

I'll take that.

A wise king knows when to stand his ground
and when to go home for supper.

Coming, Mom!

[jazz playing]
