with some cool stories for today's story

time

kino is really bugged today can you

guess why

take a hike outside you pesky bug scram

scram i said

our first story is buzz about a bug on

the run

you were the wings freeze bus took off

and then a loyal dog is bugged by bugs

and tricked by a sly fox

just think you'll be flea free for the

first time

in your life i can hardly wait

and finally a book to tickle your

imagination

if toes were teeth

story time is made possible by a grant

okay skyscraper just wait still for

one more block ah let's see

man this is gonna be my tallest coolest

skyscraper

ever wow what a

tower kino yep it's a skyscraper

gee it's so quiet around here i guess it

must be that

bug that's going around hmm yup yup i'm

glad i didn't catch it

[Music]

oh someone's here i'll go get it okay

now for that last block but

hey speaking of bugs get out of here you

get out of here bug huh man

bugs really bugged me okay skyscraper

hold still hey

oh no hey take a hike outside you pesky

bug

scram scram i said

oh brother that's it bug

that's it

okay it's a really funny story

and it's called buzz uh-huh i

think it's in here well if you can find

it i'd love to read it

let's see oh here it is oh

yes go away you pesky buzzy

but you wrecked my skyscraper

oh brother oh gosh

sorry mr marcel i'm sorry lily hi

uh-oh oh

brother oh that

bug really seems to like you kino oh

sure what a pal well maybe you'll like

the bug in this story better keno

gosh i hope so come closer guys closer

closer you can see the pictures over

there it's called buzz

and it's by richard iguelski

one morning buzz a bug

was eaten along with a spoonful of

cornflakes

said buzz

molars mashed and flakes flew as

buzz tried to escape

[Music]

but he went the wrong

way

[Music]

around and around he world

until suddenly

a bright light flashed on

said the doctor you've caught a bug all

right

i am going to give you some pills

they'll get rid

of the bug

the pills went to work

in no time they tracked buzz down

hey you in the wings freeze buzz took

off

the pills searched high and low

see him said one no he got away

said the other

buzz hid for a long time then

very slowly he crept

[Music]

out

said buzz

cried the pills surrender

they commanded

the gurgle

buzz arrived home wet

and tired

said the bug doctor you've caught a jam

all right i'm going to have to give you

some pills they'll get rid of that

germ

[Music]

said buzz

the end

oh boy that was funny i love the way the

pills have little feet and flashlights

and chasing the book all around inside

the little boy's head

here's a question when someone says

you've caught a bug

does that mean you've got a real bug

inside your head

no no no no no no oh

no it just means that you have a cold or

the flu

it means you caught a germ and germs can

make you sick

yeah just like buzz did at the end of

the story

except you can't really see germs

they're much too tiny

mr lester taught me that in science

oh no you again stop

bugging me bug will i help you keno

yeah please do sh**t daddy

bye close out of here

i think he went away phew that's better

thanks everybody oh you know

i have another book here and it's about

a very

loyal dog and he has a lot in common

with you

kino me well i don't have a tail or a

fur

and i don't bark ah but you're

bugged by bugs and so is the dog in this

book

does he get rid of them how please tell

me

what do you think should we read it yes

oh sure

okay oh and there's a very tricky fox in

there too i think you'll like it

it's called a flea in the ear

and it was written by stephen wiley and

illustrated by ken brown

fleas oh no i think that's worse than

buzzy bugs i bet you're itching to hear

this one

you know oh no don't say that

okay okay here we go

one moonlit night as the spotted dog was

making sure

his hands were all tucked into bed

he heard a twig snap in the woods nearby

i know you're out there fox he barked

stay away from my

good hands said the wily fox

politely as he sauntered into the farm

yard

back off said the dog for our bites

i wouldn't dream of taking one of your

scrawny hands

like the fox i much prefer a nice

fat juicy duck

all right said the dog scratching his

fleas

just remember what i said

i will said the fox

[Music]

oh i see you have

some flea trouble no

don't talk about it said the dog

at this time of year it's it's agony

i never have any trouble myself

said the fox but then i know the secret

that keeps them

away yeah you

do ask the dog eagerly

please tell me

i couldn't possibly the fox replied

it's an old family secret handed down

from father to son

for generations oh please

tell me pleaded the dog

i'd give anything to get rid of my fleas

anything ask the fox

slyly i suppose

i could tell you in exchange for um

five or six of your stringy birds

[Music]

definitely not said the dog indignantly

i don't lose my job

oh well said the fox suit yourself

bye-bye and he left the unhappy dog

to scratch away for the rest of the

night

the following day the fox came back

good evening he said i've been thinking

things over and have decided to tell you

the secret for free i couldn't

allow a fellow creature to suffer so

much pain

hey that's wonderful

said the dog what's the secret

quite simple really you just trot

over the hill down the other side

through the gate

and along the lane until you come to a

pond

wade into the water and as it gets

deeper

the fleas will climb up your legs

soon only your head will be dry and all

the fleas

will be on it if you take a deep breath

and dunk your head under the water

all the fleas will drown

right cried the dog

i was surprised i never thought of it

myself

while you're gone said the fox i'll

watch the chickens

[Music]

just think you'll be flea free for the

first time

in your life i can hardly wait

yep the dog and he galloped off up the

hill

and down to the gate along the pond to

drown

his fleas

as he lowered himself into the water

he was amazed to hear a voice in his ear

i know you're about to drown us

said a flea but if you spare our lives

we'll all jump off and promise never to

bite you again

the dog paused for a moment

but you have to promise

he waded back to the edge of the pond

and

all the fleas leaped off the happy dog

went home

but when he got back he found that the

fox

had vanished he soon discovered that

all his hands were gone too

oh no

help the dog i'll lose my job i'll be

homeless he flopped down in despair

suddenly he noticed

a trail of feathers leading into the

woods

[Music]

he got up and followed the trail until

he came to the fox's den

he poured politely at the door

the fox opened it hello said the fox

acting surprised

what brings you here i

i just dropped by to tell you said the

dog pretending to scratch

i went for your flea cure but i couldn't

get into the pond

it was full to the brim with that

juicy ducks it was

ask the fox licking his lips overflowing

lied the dog i'll try again later when

they have gone

bye goodbye said the fox and closed the

door

the dog hid behind a tree

he didn't have to wait long before the

fox came out of his den

with an empty sack over his shoulder

after a quick look around he slipped off

toward the pond

[Music]

but when he got there he didn't see a

trace

of the fat juicy ducks the dog had

talked about

while the fox dead at the pond in

disbelief

all the fleas that had nearly drowned

hopped

joyfully onto his furry back

meanwhile the dog

had broken down the fox's door and there

sure enough he found a squawking bag

full

of his hands he gathered them up gently

and took them back to their coop

determined never to let them out of his

sight

again

[Laughter]

i don't think that'd be much help to you

keno but the pond sure helped the dog

didn't it

yes yes what did you think of the story

it was fun yeah did you have a favorite

part

yes what when the place jumped on the

wall when the fleets jumped in the box

that's right did you like that too

i liked it when the fleas jumped on the

fox and then he started

itching and running away he was a good

dog wasn't he

yeah he was he was a good guard dog yes

not again that bug's driving me

buggy and bonkers and bananas

don't you know it's your best time

yeah let's go oh brother

boy fuzzy this was the buckiest day of

my

life good night mom good night kino

sleep well honey don't let the bedbugs

bite

oh mom don't say bugs oops oh sorry

sweetie

good night kino sleep tight yeah

see you in the morning mom yuck

[Laughter]

uh

oh thanks for helping me lily gosh it

really

bugged me when that bug made me botch my

block tower

you know that that bug bugged me all

night he followed me home

he even buzzed me in the bathtub and he

bugged me in bed

well he's gone now and he won't bug you

anymore

boy oh boy bug free at last

oh no did you hear that keno

no nada i heard nothing i did not hear

the buzz of a bug

great idea let's pretend we don't hear

the buzzing of a bug getting closer

and closer no no it is not getting

closer

i am imagining that that bug is is a

banana on a tree

really far away

i'm going to imagine it's a

rock on the moon yeah good idea and

i'm going to imagine that bug is on a

bicycle

riding along a purple road made of

grapes

oh hi lucy hey we didn't hear you come

in

well how could we hear with all this

buzzing going on

well why don't we buzz into a

very exciting story

all right hey sounds good hey now

this book will give your imagination

some

practice it's called if and it's written

if frogs ate rainbows

yes they tickle they'd be like a tickly

sweater only worse

if lightning made rhinos

if ants could count

if the moon were square

it's like a sugar cube yeah you want to

eat it

yeah if kids had

tails

boy that'd feel funny wouldn't it yeah

if spiders could read braille

wow they'd be able to read fast huh

eight lakes

that's right yeah if

hummingbirds told secrets

if this is the end then dream up

some more so can you dream up some more

oh gosh

let me think how about if trees were

giant

lollipops oh yeah

yeah that's really a cool one yeah yummy

uh oh i know how about if

bugs would go away if you just said

please

that would be nice try to make friends

hmm that's a friend i don't need oh i

don't know

i i kind of like bugs but you know how

bugs can be

when you want them to go they stay and

when you want them to stay

they go oh oh oh check out

loves bugs and it's called

insects are my life well i think

kino would like that bug out of his life

i don't know i hope this works

it'll work i'm sure of it that bug will

never get past

that strainer i don't know this sticky

tape is kind of

uncomfortable huh uh oh

there he is again get out of here

maybe that wasn't such a good idea
