I just love those old time Tunes don't

you Elmer I miss those old songs I love

them I

do oh hi boys and girls hi

py hi everyone uh what are you all

chatting about great Grand Pappy is

telling us stories about when he was

young yes we'd love to hear more of

grandpappy's stories that's a great idea

Lily you know in the old days grandpappy

was the papy in papy

land that was a long time

ago I know that's what makes it so

exciting how about you boys and girls

you probably have grandparents or older

aunts and uncles or Neighbors who could

tell you lots of neat stories about the

way things used to be you're right py

it's lots of fun to hear about how

things were different in the old days

hey grandpappy you knew my grandpa Elmer

didn't you sure did Elmer he used to sit

in a chair right in my cabin too and my

good friend fur bear lived right next

door and there was a different tree

named Woody in the front yard I've heard

stories about how you used to draw

alphab B man grandpy ah yes I remember

it well wouldn't it be grand to go back

and visit the old days it's sure would

say grandpappy uh the wishing wheel

could take us back in time what do you

say yeah that's a great idea oh please

grandpappy we want to learn more about

the old days why

not great as I recall the cabin looked

much different back then here goes

grandpappy every morning I greet my

friends morning fur

bear good morning

papy morning

Woody hello

peppy I know just the place for

this how about right

here

no oh right here no no no oh right here

seems like a real good spot there we go

morning Grand peppy morning son oh it's

a beautiful day

today it's a beautiful day in pepul land

with all sorts of colors but no birds

are singing what no birds are singing

not one hey little fella wake

up you don't want to get up do

up correction the birds are singing

Sunny don't you know what time it

is wow Grand peppy you weren't kidding

the cabin sure looked different but your

grandpa Elmer still said don't you know

what time it is right Elmer yes he did

but I see he smoked a pipe smoking is

something I'd never do well things were

different then now we know how unhealthy

smoking is for the smoker and for

everyone around them too okay grandpappy

continue with your story well every day

we draw something new just like today

but the wishing wheel was different then

as you'll

see if you haven't gotten them already

go get your crayons and paper because

everything starts right here at the

drawing table with a blank sheet that's

right we start with absolutely nothing

except for an

idea okay does anybody have an idea out

there huh PE up I can't hear

you did you say wishing

wheel that's a wonderful

idea why didn't I think of that well

we'll give her a spin and this will help

us start our day off

Alphabet

Man excellent

okay oh boy well boys and girls do you

have your crayons and your paper

ready okay we're going to draw Alphabet

Man and the first thing we're going to

do is we're going to use the letter O

for his face which is basically a circle

now before you put your cray your marker

down kind of get your wrist going in a

circle like this see that you we're

practicing to make a circle see which is

basically an O and when you're ready and

I'm getting ready here let it go here we

go it's an O see okay good now our

alphabet man needs a nose doesn't he and

a nose looks like the letter O again

doesn't it okay so let's draw a nose

using the letter O good now he has two

eyes doesn't he so we'll use the letter

O for his eyes Okay and y'all know how

many eyes we have don't

you two eyes Okay one more o here and

one more o there okay now we'll put the

pupils in there because he has to look

at it doesn't he okay here we go one

more little o here here and one more

little o there and let's color them in

okay good now our little alphabet man

needs eyebrows doesn't he CU we all have

them don't we okay let's put some

eyebrows on I'm using the letter c but

we'll draw them upside down okay now

follow me one C upside down and another

C upside down okay H I think he needs a

mouth now so what letter of the alphabet

could be his mouth well it could be

probably a few things but I think a u

would be a good mouth for alphabet man

so we use the letter U for his

mouth and we'll start right below his

nose there's the letter U and he's

smiling at us isn't

he okay Alpha that man needs ears now

doesn't he so he can hear us okay well

we'll use the letter c for his ears one

C

here and another backward

C over here there we

go now let's let's put shoulders on our

Alphabet Man okay we need shoulders now

we'll use the letter i for his shoulders

okay now follow what I do follow right

along here we go one letter I and

another letter i and we kind of slanted

them down a little bit okay and we'll

put another letter I here and another

letter I right over there now there's

there's his shoulders but we'd like to

put a collar on them okay because we're

going to put a tie on our Alphabet Man

okay he's all dressed

up okay we'll use the letter W for his

collar okay and we'll start right here

at this point here's the letter de

all the way up to his chin and back over

to the other side there's the letter W

right there now we'll use the letter V

for the knot on its tie okay here we go

there's a v right there and we'll put an

upside down V for the tie okay there's

an upside down V right

there now we need another v a real big

one to put the tie so it looks like his

tie is tucked in his suit okay so we'll

put a big V right here just like this

there we go now here's the fun part you

can put polka dots on its tie or or

stripes or just color it in solid

whatever you feel like doing okay but

I'm going to put stripes on my alphabet

man you want to count along with me one

stripe two

stripes three stripes four

Stripes five six seven

Stripes oh boy this is fun let's see now

what's missing on Alphabet Man does

anybody see anything in

particular I know he needs hair doesn't

he I bet you guessed that one already

didn't you let's put some hair on his

head using the letter I again okay we'll

put three strands of the hair on his

head he's going bald isn't

he one eye two eyes and three eyes well

looks like alphabet man's pretty well

done here I don't see anything else we

have to do to him but how does yours

look does it look like mine well maybe

just a little

bit okay well whenever you want to draw

a picture using letters on the alphabet

you'll know how to do it isn't that

right alphabet man that's right

peppy my goodness did you see that see

what happens when you start with just

one little idea alphabet man turned into

an old tree just like Woody hey let's go

see what wow grandpy that Alphabet Man

drawing was awesome

thanks and I hear you are a pretty

good dancer too grandpappy is that true

see for yourself Sunny one of my

favorite songs and dances was the one I

did with

Woody we ought to sing a big old tree a

big old tree like me I see okay come on

boys and girls Let's Go sing with Woody

Woody what do you say we show the kids

the words so they can sing

along okay take one of my fruits and

toss it to

them did you ever want to be a big old

tree like me well now you can if you

take a stand do everything you see put

your hands down to your side now raise

them way up high and spread them wide

and you will be a big old tree like me

your legs they are your tree trunk your

feet they are your roots your arms they

are your branches and your fingers are

your fruits now the clothes you wear are

the bark on your tree and your hair is a

bunch of funny looking

leaves and you become a big old tree a

big old tree like me

now B call the big wind

blowing and Shake everything you

got then stand up talk you're a tree

you'll Bend but break you not so whether

you're a wallnut an aspen or a pine an

apple Jerry or buckleberry any tree you

choose is fine just pick the tree you

want to be and grow up strong and tall

and you will be a big old tree a king

tree hey I hear grandpappy's telling

about the days when he used to draw in

the cabin yes so we just stopped by to

hear all about it great fellas come on

in a grandpappy's got more to tell us

I'm sure would you tell us more

here's another one of my my favorite

drawings won't this be fun this is easy

as 1 two

three hey we'll start out with one two

and three and see where it goes

okay we'll start out with the number

one number

two and number

three okay the number one can anybody

see what that might be okay well I see

something already why don't you follow

along

okay H let me see here number one oh I

see something here we go we'll put one

little stroke right here on that side

and we'll put another one there and the

same thing right on top of each other

and another one and another one and you

know what that is it's a tree that's

right okay let's see okay here's the

number two let's make something out of

the number two too I see something

already we'll put a little curve right

there and we'll put two dots one here

and one

there two eyes aren't they and what's

below the eyes and nose that's right

let's put some let's put some hair

underneath his nose that's a mustache

isn't it okay we'll put some some

Strokes here one two three four five

Strokes count them okay now let's see

here we have the number three oh okay

try this make a backwards three okay

watch this this is a backwards

three and you connect them and it looks

like well it doesn't look like much now

but to me it looks like a flower pot

let's put a flower inside the pot

okay this is the stem like that just

draw a little curved line like that and

we'll draw draw a circle you're good at

circles now aren't

you one Circle right there there we go

and we'll put little little curved lines

all the way around it because the flower

has petals doesn't it here we go one two

I like counting three four five six

little curved lines for the petals isn't

that fun all right wow that was awesome

grandpappy and I think I have a special

treat for everybody now that it's time

to color H let's see what's underneath

the pad here who look at that Alphabet

Man in one two three excellent papy

those are grandpappy's drawings that's

right let's color them right

now thanks Grand Sunny those drawings

have been waiting a long time to be

colored well they still look as fresh

and new as the day you drew them grandpy

that's right grandpy they're beautiful

they are truly magnificent Grand Papa

papy gee thanks everyone come on kids

let's color alphabet man now and then

you can color your drawing of one two

three after the

show all right what do you think of this

color Turtle oh it's beautiful P I'll

start with that color all righty

grandpappy draw Alphabet Man was a lot

of fun wasn't it boys and

that's

a

very happy

color that I'm

using and I like it when you choose your

own

colors I think I heard somebody say they

use Brown that's a great

color somebody else used pink

and even

red that's the way to do it just choose

your own colors and have

fun all right now I think I'm going to

choose a different color for alphabet

man's nose let's try

this sometimes you don't know what a

color is going to look like until you

try

it so have fun and experience

try using different combinations of

colors there look at that that worked

out very

nice all

righty now for his his suit I'm going to

use this blue color

here that's a very nice choice

and you can try drawing a different

cartoon from the letter

O and just practice and put different

faces on the letter O and you'll be

surprised how many

different ideas you'll come up with for

different cartoony

alphabet man is looking very very

nice now I think I'll color in his tie

and let's see

here I think I'll use this color oo that

looks pretty

good and you can have fun coloring the

different stripes on his tie

each one can be a different

color all righty what looks good with

orange I'll try yellow

oh very

nice that looks pretty good

now I think I'll take my blue cran and

just put some blue right around alphabet

Man's eyes like this

that of course you can make his eyes

green or brown any color you'd

like I just chose blue for my alphabet

Man's

eyes yeah that looks pretty good now I'm

going to take my brown

crayon add some more hairs on his head

just like that now is a good time to add

some new and different ideas to your

drawing look at that how about a hat

let's put a hat on them look at

that yes and look it matches his suit

coat whoops don't worry if you break a

cray just use the side of it like that

and we'll just color in the top part

like that you see that it's fun to add

new ideas

there now our Alphabet Man Has a hat on

his head I'm finished let's see your

drawings boys and girls they're

beautiful yes they are Louie excellent

as always oh do you hear that that means

it's time to visit one of my favorite

places the Hall of Frames where all the

drawings you send in are on display

let's go see some now

H uh actually Doodlebug since today

grandpappy has been doing all the

drawing I think he should do this doodle

oh well it's okay with me peppy drew it

let's see where this goes

okay okay I'll just make that a little

longer mhm and we'll okay I'm starting

to see something

here and we'll do this same thing right

below it okay I don't know what it is

yet but we'll keep we'll find out soon

enough won't we okay let's just oh I'm

starting to see

something starting to look like

something now isn't it boys and

girls oh there we go it's an eyeball I

bet you already know what that was

huh okay H and he's smiling okay and

we'll put a chin on him like this oo

it's starting to look like a dinosaur

that's right it's a dinosaur let's

finish him up okay he needs a neck there

we go and we'll we'll start drawing his

body here and that's his back and he has

two little arms like this they're little

small and he you really can't grab or

reach because he has little arms like

this okay so that's that's the that's

what we call a Tyrannosaurus Rex okay

he's a he's a mean dinosaur okay that's

why he has all those sharp teeth okay

and here are his little arms like this

there we go and he has a big tummy cuz

he just ate

something and he has long legs with very

long

toes just like

this and he has two legs just like we do

so we'll draw the other leg right

here oh boy drawing with py is so much

fun I love drawing here we go there's

his legs now torosaurus Rex oh that big

dinosaur most of them have tails don't

they okay we'll put a tail on our

dinosaur and we'll kind of curve it up a

little bit there we

go oh you know what else we forgot he

has scales doesn't he you know scales

like an alligator let's put some on

there one two three little scales who

put some on his

head oh boy wasn't that fun we'll put

them on the ground like this and way off

in the background we'll draw a palm tree

okay just like

this there we

go and there's our dinosur wasn't that

fun boys and girls that was fun

grandpy here Doodlebug I can't believe

it a dotal

dinosaur I'm out of here hey Sunny oops

got to

go don't you know what time it

is oh my it's quarter to Orange time for

me to leave hasn't this been an exciting

day listening to Grand Peppy's stories
