the sun sure is shining brightly today

isn't it Lily it sure is Papy thanks for

the drink you're welcome speaking of sun

hey Sunny don't you know what time it is

i sure do Elmer it's time to go on that

camping trip I promised you last week

are you packed and ready you bet i'm

ready to pack all right say hi to

everyone else and I'll be finished by

the time you're done ah let's see here's

my backpack and my boots and my robe ah

okay elmer and how are you today Binky

i'm excited about what that you're

taking me on the camping trip with you

and Elmer oh I am am I uh I'm just

fooling you sure you can come along

yippee how about the rest of you anyone

else want to come no thanks Papy i think

I'll just stay here and catch some rays

no thanks Grand i'll just hang around

the cabin and keep an eye on things and

how about you boys and girls i see Jane

and Gabriel and you Chris and Kenya and

Vinnie and Jake i see you're all packed

and ready to go uh even before Elmer

hold it right there Sunny i'm ready

don't you worry one little bit about

your messages Py i'll keep track of all

your important calls thanks Belle we're

here we're ready too Py yeah we're ready

for a honey of a trip okay then what are

we waiting for let's go the path is

right out this front

door hey what's going on down there

think I'll fly down and find

la look up in the sky it's a bird

it's Mailbird hi everybody where are you

going we're going on a creative camping

trip mailbird creative camping trip

what's that Py well it's when everybody

pays extra attention to everything

around them as we walk to the campsite

we're going to look around us explore

and then report on all the pepperfic

things we've seen when we get to the

campsite sounds like fun enjoy

yourselves i've got mail to deliver so

got to fly up into the big blue sky so

long Mailbird come on fellas

okay everybody it's time to explore i

want everyone to split up all right

let's go that sounds like fun Bobby oh

boy

oo what a lovely creature let's see you

fly

woo wow what an awesome rainbow

wake up Elmer you're missing all the

sights hold it g*ng do you hear that it

sounds like there's some serious

doodling going on doodlebug yep it's me

Papy and you know before you go any

further you better use your creative

noodle if you want to finish my doodle

he's ready for you doodlebug that's

right you big bug papy can outdoodle

just about anybody yeah show him

there thanks a lot g*ng for all your

support let's see here undoable you say

huh yep undoable what do you see here

boys and girls i think I see something

okay I'm going to start right here all

righty i see something uh let's put the

number two right there and we'll connect

that and we'll do

that and we'll just make a little

something for you here you think you

stumped me did you

there we go

this is supposed to be adorable i think

if I put a couple dots there and this is

the water

uhoh there you go doodlebug oh let me

see hey you made a frog out of my doodle

and frogs eat bugs like a doodle did me

in dish time Papy but I'll be back with

a totally undoable doodle

way to go Py thumbs up a puppy cool come

on fellas uh we're not quite there yet

follow me i know a shortcut Chucky come

on

see Chucky I told you this was a good

shortcut yeah we got here really fast

Lou hi guys that sure was a shortcut

come on everybody the campsite's right

up ahead all right let's go great boy

okay g*ng here's our campsite now let's

check to see if we have everything we

need flashlight check check nope

sleeping bag check check nope toothbrush

check check nope buddy it seems that you

forgot a few things what did you bring

with you well I uh I brought my honey

buddy I think you need to learn about

planning ahead maybe a drawing will help

you understand what I'm talking about

sure well I'm drawing with the boys and

girls why don't you fellas set up camp

okay sounds good to me hey fellas I'll

go get some wood could you help me with

my backpack sure okay boys and girls get

your paper and your pencils ready

because we're going to draw a picture of

a caveman

okay I'm going to start by drawing the

caveman's

nose and I'm starting right here and

bringing that line around and stop right

there good now I'm going to put two dots

those are those will be his

eyes one

two now let's put some eyebrows like

that

good now I'm going to put some hairs on

his head and you can put long hair short

hair curly hair wavy hair you can just

scribble if you want to make the

caveman's hair but I'm going to put some

curved lines

one

two

three four and I'll continue

and another one

and another one and another

one

good there are all kinds of ways you can

draw a caveman this is a funny caveman

one of the things I really love about

art and drawing is that it's a great way

to experiment or test out lots of

different

ideas let's continue

i'm going to draw the caveman's

ear and put a little bitty line right

there for the inside of his

ear all right now I'm going to draw his

mustache he has a very long

beard so I'm putting

some long hairs on his upper lip

and right below that let's put a

smile just like

that

good now I'll draw his beard right below

his smile we'll put some more long

hairs like

so very

good he has a very long beard

okay now let's draw the body on our

little

caveman and we'll start by drawing a

curve line

there and

just some small little curve lines below

it's kind of ragged at the bottom of his

he's wearing some kind of fur so it's

kind of raggedy down near the bottom

there like

that all right this will be the side of

the caveman's head right there good now

let's draw his shoulder

and I'll do that by drawing some more

curved lines like

so

good

now let's draw one arm we'll draw this

arm over here he's going to be holding a

club so I'm going to start off by

drawing the caveman's fingers

one two

three looping lines and a small little

oval right there that'll be his

thumb now right here is the end of the

club so I'll draw a curved line like

that and

stop and the club continues behind the

caveman's head so we'll start right here

and we'll

draw the club that he's holding over his

shoulder and bring that line around and

stop and we'll show a small curved

line and another one right there to kind

of show it's

bumpy okay let's draw his other

arm just like that

and those are his fingers all

righty if you need to now's a good time

to take a moment to catch up because

this is a cartoon you can make him as

funnyl looking as you'd like big nose

little nose curly hair straight hair

whatever you

like and now let's draw our

caveman's foot and his leg bring that

line around and bring it over and let's

make some silly little toes one two

three four toes it's okay he's a cartoon

he can have four toes

all right let's draw the other

foot and bring that

around and down and stop right there

starting right here let's bring another

line down and let's do some more

toes all

righty good now let's draw the bottom of

his arm over here just to finish that

like so

good now let's indicate something down

here a line or couple lines it look like

he's walking on the ground so I'll do

that

now and just indicate

some small wavy lines like

that good now I'd like to put a cloud

above his head so let's do that and you

can make your cloud any shape you'd like

i'm going to

do a very

puffy

cloud like

so good well I'm finished with the

caveman drawing papy what does a caveman

have to do with planning

let's see buddy picture do your stuff

What did the caveman show you about

planning ahead that he was prepared for

anything that's right come rain or shine

he was ready speaking of ready Papy I'm

ready for a song good idea Chucky how

about it boys and girls while you're

finishing up your drawings let's sing a

song oh sing a song i'm right here Papy

setting up our campsite for a night so

rare we'll be relaxing in the moonlight

cuz we plan to prepare we got goodies in

our

backpacks everything is there now we

don't have to backtrack since we plan to

prepare

did you bring your flashlight yes I

brought my flashlight did you bring your

sleeping bag yes I brought my sleeping

ready for rain showers ready for open

air it'll be dark in a couple hours but

we plan to prepare we've got goodies in

our

backpacks everything is there now we

don't have to backtrack cuz we plan to

prepare

brought my toothbrush did you bring a

book to read yes I brought a book to

read did you bring your flashlight yes I

brought my flashlight did you bring your

sleeping bag yes I brought my sleeping

thanks singer song now we're all set up

just in time too it's starting to get

dark so long Papy happy camping

wow isn't it nice out tonight oh yeah

yeah the fire is beautiful let's talk

about what we saw today at Turtleoo what

special thing did you observe well Py I

couldn't believe it it was just the most

beautiful creature I have ever seen it

had a magnificent wings with lots of

color and it was so gentle i'm inspired

to paint it someday wow that was a

butterfly turtle though and they are

very beautiful how about you Chucky what

did you see i got lots of ideas from

nature i saw a flower and it had an

extra special smell and color and what

color was that Chucky it It was a deep

rich purple color that I think I can

draw perfectly using my chalk set wow

happy horrific Chucky see how paying

special attention to things helps you be

more

creative and how about you Buddy Bear oh

oh I saw the most beautiful

honeycomb i mean pine cone Tappy and

when I'm done eating my honey I'm going

to think about drawing the pine cone h

elmer what kind of a special sight did

you see

elmer elmer elmer he's asleep still

hey who turned out the lights

elmer it's night time we're camping i'm

trying to find out what you saw that was

special or different today you know Pap

it was amazing there were sheep

everywhere and have you ever noticed how

the word sheep rhymes with

sleep oh

Elmer well you know everyone maybe Elmer

has the right idea it's time to turn in

it's been a long day let's get some

shutye

oh good night everybody turtle Chucky

puppy don't you know what time it is oh

my it's morning and I forgot to color

the picture we drew come on boys and

girls it's time to get back to the cabin

quick

whoa that was fun i didn't hear you come

in we didn't expect you back so early

well we all had so much fun camping

yesterday Lily uh I forgot to count with

the picture we

drew so I came back to the cabin to

finish it this morning well kids let's

get started if you don't have your

crayons or your markers ready get them

now or just watch and color with your

imagination all

righty let's begin by coloring in his

clothing and take your time and have fun

with it just enjoy

yourself like

so i think that brown is a nice

color feel free to use any color again I

like to say that because the fun part

about coloring and drawing with Papy is

you can use any color you

choose there we go

very

nice

there and I'm going over it to make it a

little darker so I like to keep going

over the same spots like that until I

get it dark

enough here we

go

there wasn't that neat how the caveman's

club turned into an umbrella that's what

I call being prepared sometimes before I

draw a color I make a list of everything

I need it's another way of planning

ahead that way I'm always ready to draw

with you girls and

boys

okay oh here's a nice color for the club

kind of a

golden golden yellow

color it's one of my favorite

colors i wonder what your favorite color

is

oh did somebody say red that's a nice

color and we'll just fill that right

in now I'm going

to

stop and leave a white

spot right near the end of the club look

at

that look at that then I clean it off a

little bit all righty now I'm going to

color

him and I'm going to do the same thing

to his

nose i'm going to leave a white spot

like

that this will make his nose look a

little

shiny you see that very

nice there we go

whoops just continue coloring when I

break a crayon I just continue

coloring and right in here like

so remember color your caveman any way

you like creating what you like is what

makes your artwork unique

that's why any color that you chose is

fine you don't have to choose the same

colors that I

do there we

go fill that right

in and now I'm going to do

his

leg like so

just I like using the side of my

crayon there we go i left another white

spot right here can you see that very

good now I'll just

color the other leg

go while you're coloring try and stay

loose enjoy what you're doing and

drawing and coloring is a good way to

relax and it's the same for painting

Papy take it from a paintbrush i do my

best work when I just relax and open my

mind for ideas to come in before I know

it my brush is whirling with colors

that's great

Pinky all right let's

continue let's see this is a cloud so I

think

I'll I'm going to shade

in the bottom portion of the cloud like

so that means I won't color all of it in

there we go like

that see

that when I when I shade one part of

this

cloud and that means the light is coming

from this

direction because it's darker on this

side yes

okay we'll

try some golden yellow for his

beard look at that and these colors go

very nice

together okay I think I'll throw

some brown underneath his feet like

so just to show

the ground like

that and maybe just some

lines quick lines like that very good

i'm finished

see now let me see yours oo very nice

indeed did you hear that camping's fun

but there's hardly anything I enjoy more

than visiting the Hall of Fames let's go

boys and

girls look everyone all of these

drawings are very special every one of

them shows that they were done with

extra care and inspiration
