one is so different and special in its

own way just like all of us golly the

brush lines would be a boring place if

all the brushes were the same color it's

what time it is whoa roses are red

violets are blue I love different things

for coming I've been standing here for

hours trying to draw a picture of me you

see I want to send it to my pen pal

salen she wrote to ask me if I could

draw a picture of myself and send it to

her that's great buddy but why can't you

draw a picture of yourself in your good

artist oh it's not that Pappy I'm just

afraid failing won't like the way I look

you know I different being different

doesn't mean people won't like you buddy

think about truckie he's different than

you and yet you love him I mean the way

he lives the food he eats the way he

looks everything about him is different

than you and you're still like him right

oh yes yes I do gosh Maddie I never

thought of it that way see think of all

the beautiful flowers in pappyland each

a different color all of them special in

their own way growing and living

together wow what a beautiful thought I

really am special Pappy I'm gonna draw a

wonderful picture of myself that's the

spirit buddy hey girls and boys I have

an idea why don't we do a drawing that

would help buddy understand more so

while he's working on his picture let's

work on ours oh boy is pehlan gonna like

this

okay does everybody have their paper and

their crayons pencils or markers ready

if not you can use your imagination to

draw in colors that's a lot of fun too

today we're going to draw three flowers

in a garden alrighty I'm going to begin

by drawing the first flower right here

and I'm going to start by drawing a

circle just like soul all right now

let's draw the flower petals and this is

a series of doping lines all the way

around continue and bring them around

another loop in line another looking

line and another looking line this

flower kinda reminds me of lily and

continue looping lines all the way

around there we go one more good now

let's draw the flowers face and we'll

put the letter all or a circle here and

another circle next to it and let's just

put a little circle in the middle like

that or not really in the middle but

it's off to the side just like that kind

of makes the flower look like it's

looking this way now it's put a curve

line here for one cheek and the other

cheek and starting right here we'll put

a very gentle curve line like that and

now let's put her lips there's the upper

lip and the lower lip do it now I'm

going to put a stem and we'll do that

just like so good now we'll put one leaf

here in another leaf there

and bring it up and you can put short or

long legs whatever whatever way you do

it is fine with Pappy I love it when you

use your own ideas okay there's one

flower let's go to the next flower and

now we'll put one hi there and another I

right there and let's put little circles

within the other circles like so good

and again we'll draw the cheeks which

looks like the letter U and another

gentle curve line like that and just a

small little curve line show that this

flower is smiling now let's do her

petals right there one two three four

five six seven eight Laur petals now

let's do the stem will bring that line

down and stop now let's draw this

flowers leaves we have 12 so let's start

on this side and bring it around and

stop right there and let's draw the next

one just like so bring it down

ah good now let's draw the next flower

now this flower space is a little

different each one of these flowers is

different like I said here we go a curve

line like that and we'll bring another

curve line I hope this way and back

around and back up and a little loop and

stop do you see that good and let's

bring this line over and bring this line

down and connect it there we go now

let's draw the flowers face and just

bring this line up and draw some little

looping lines like so just like that and

bring it down and we'll do the other

side

okay does anybody know what the name of

this flower is oh did somebody say a

daffodil you're right daffodil there we

go now let's put two eyes on this flower

one two and we'll put little circles

like that inside there now let's do

those cheeks one then another one right

there and a small curve line right here

just like that these are the happy

flowers in the garden with the sun

shining on their faces and another small

line just like so good now let's draw

the flowers stem starting right here

let's bring this line down and stop now

let's draw the some leaves on this

flower we have one leaf right hand bring

it up and bring it down take your time

we're in no hurry good bring this line

upward spinning around and stop right

there very good okay now let's draw or

indicate the amount of dirt that the

flowers are planted in and we'll do that

by starting right here and bringing a

long curve line like this a long curve

line like so here we go and take your

time up the hill up the hill and we're

leveling off look we're going back down

the hill there we go well I'm finished

beat you hold your picture up buddy Wow

what looks great Valon low

love it I'll bet you're wondering what

my picture has to do with being

different well now that you mention it

yes okay let's find out picture do your

stuff what if we were all alike in this

garden right I'm glad we're not all the

same our differences make our garden

interesting and each of us very special

wow that was neat Pappy those little

flowers were cute each one was different

and and that's what makes every garden

special right on buddy hey Pappy how

riffic you can keep working on your

drawings boys and girls or maybe finish

later while you're doing that let's hear

there are many colors to draw with and

all are different there are many people

together

for rent I looked at the metal to see

what i could see so many flowers looking

up at me there are many cars to draw

with that all are different there are

many people together and all are

different each of us is special everyone

can share we all have a gift unique to

us and rare I learned this from a flower

she taught me something true if you were

to be happy to be there are many colors

to draw with and each one has a name

each one is special because they aren't

the same there are many colors to draw

with

special do you know the difference

between a dog and a flea I know Elmer

what's the difference between a dog and

a flea a dog can have fleas but a flea

can't have dogs that's a good one Elmer

now it's time to color with the children

so get your crayon your mark is ready so

we can begin all righty o three flowers

in the turning and I think I'm going to

start by coloring in their their leaves

I'm gonna color my flower red what car

are you gonna use I'll bet some of the

children will color their flowers hello

I wouldn't be surprised Lily no it was a

lovely color and so are all the colors

in the rainbow all right i'll continue

to color the red flower

just go there's so many beautiful colors

for flowers and he color you choose we

just wonderful I think I'll make the

inside of this flower pink

it goes very nicely before

I like to mix and match my colors

ok let's continue on whoo I think

sunshine yellow would be wonderful for

this flower so I chose yellow and I know

that some of you picked another color

most likely your favorite color oops

that'd be breaks another crane but he

continues I love using the side of my

queen I actually have better control

with a smaller piece

that way I can press down harder on the

paper and get a deeper richer color like

that get that

now I'm going to switch to the other

side hmm how about a blue or the other

flower yes

the flower petals blue like so there's

so many of them just like that and keep

calling

they look so different don't they these

flowers

each other special in their own way look

later on you might want to test out

other ideas like tasting colored paper

or fabric to your picture have fun and

try new things that's what arts all

about alrighty ooh red for the flowers

lips and I am going to leave a little

highlight thereby not coloring all that

in I'll leave a little white spot and it

looks kind of shiny now i think i'm

going to choose this color

for the inside of this flower space

notice I'm leaving a white spot here

again it makes her cheeks look shiny

sparkling and I do that Mary by leaving

a white space in that area that you want

to be shiny

I'm going to just indicate some grass

like that

now going to leave the pedals on this

flower white but you can color yours any

colored like I just think White's kind

of a nice color well that's just about

finish is it colorific would you hold up

your drawing so I can see them wow you

did a great job look at all the

different colors you used your neck so

it's time to go to the Hall of frames

who knows you may even see your picture

hanging there i'm so happy i will look

at all these drawings each one is

special and each one is different be

sure to send your pictures to the

address at the end of the program you

never know you might see your drawing
