hi everybody can you read the words I

just wrote with Pepe special pencil

sound it out with me i can do it what

can I do Pappy you can read along with

me big I can't do it kid i read with you

to Pappy sure Lily I can't do it very

good and happy I can do it you can do it

grand Pappy Pappy hmm how did he do that

hey Sonny don't you know what time it is

hello there girls and boys it's time

again for pappyland I see Stephen and

Erinn and Emily and Jennifer and miss

Kathleen and Hillary too I'm really

happy to see you're all ready to draw in

color and sing and dance with me today

what's all this I can do it stuff I can

do it there's something you can say to

yourself to help you build up your

confidence what's confidence confidence

is believing that you can do something

if you really try there's something I've

always wanted to do don't know if I can

sure you can if you put your mind to it

what is it you want to do I want to be

the one to teach the kids how to color

and draw I want to call this place Elmer

land Elmer land just kidding Pappy I

wouldn't try to show up on sweet guy

like you but I know what you can do

what's that Elmer you can get

to it and do it drew it how do we get

inspired today there's a happy scope the

Pappy Pat express the wishing wheel or a

much more door hmm which one will it be

looks less will take the Pappy Pat

express but I wonder where it'll take us

hello there happy I'm trying to figure

out a way to get rid of these seeds

would you take them away and hide them

somewhere and whatever you do don't tell

me where they're hidden ah your favorite

clover I know how much you love clover

why in pappyland would you want to hide

these seeds because I've never planted

clover seats before and if I plant them

they probably won't grow and they don't

feel very sad why do you think they

won't grow because I've never planted

clover before Pappy the only thing I've

ever planted in a garden is my foot when

I first step in but you already know

something about planning don't you

Chucky I remember seeing you looking at

a book about gardening I know and I also

talked to turtle Lou who has a green

thumb you know and he showed me how to

plant a seed how much water to give it

and how to care for it so I guess I know

what to do well that's a very good

start Chuckie but before you can plan

any clover that grows there's one other

very important thing that needs to go

first oh no not another seed to plant I

can't do it what needs to grow is your

self-confidence you need to tell

yourself I can do it I can't do that

let's try something think back there's

something you really wanted to do that

you were finally able to accomplish well

once I wanted to dig a tunnel from my

log to the pond but at first I didn't

think I could do it I had never dug a

tunnel before what happened I kept

thinking about how great it would be to

have a tunnel and how my friends would

come over and clean it and so I kept

telling myself I could do it before long

I started digging and digging and

digging so now you have a tunnel from

your log to the pond well actually I

have a tunnel from my log too well he

goes all the way to your cabin Pepe I

guess my god but it's got a little

carried away that's okay Chucky maybe

you can tell them over to the cabin and

visit me sometime how about a picture

Chucky a picture that will help you

learn more about confidence I say that

sounds Pepe riffic Pappy do you have

your paper and markers pencils and

crayons ready you don't go and get them

now I think you're really like today's

picture it's going to be a mommy spider

and a baby spider on a tree branch I'm

going to start off by drawing a small

circle and a large circle are you ready

here we go right about here kind of get

your risk going in a circular motion but

don't do anything until you feel that

you're ready and I'm ready and there

goes my first circle that's the small

circle and I'm going to draw the large

circle right behind it here we go

starting right there bring your marker

crayon or pencil around and there's the

other circle let's do the same thing for

the mommy spider okay we'll start out

with a small circle and then a large one

right behind it here we go starting

right about over here will draw the

small circle

and a large circle Wow good so far we've

used for circles well we're not done yet

we're going to put two little circles

for the baby spiders eyes one there and

in other circles there okay and let's do

the same thing for the Miami spider okay

two small circles for mommy spider's

eyes one is now let's draw let's put the

noses on our spiders okay we'll start

with the baby spiders nose and that's

just another circle about that big right

there and let's put another one for the

mommy spider right there this is looking

very good and I know yours is to trying

something new or different can be hard

because you may not be sure it'll work

out the important thing is to give it a

try just like Chucky did okay I know

let's put a mouth on the baby spider by

just drawing a little line like that and

I'm gonna make the mommy spite or smile

so I'm gonna draw a curve line pointing

upward okay and another curve line right

there hmm something's missing in the

eyes isn't it boys and girls okay let's

put dots inside those little circles one

dot there and a small dot another dot

there for the mommy spider's eyes and

another one right there good okay I

think we need to draw the spiders legs

now and there's eight legs on a spider

so i'm going to count them as I draw

them one leg two three four five

six seven eight okay let's do the same

for them for the mommy spider starting

right here bring that line down one two

and three and another line there and

another line right there curve line stop

and starting right here another leg

there another one there and one more

right there good oh let's put some hands

on the loop the little baby spider a

little loop in a loop there a little

looping line another looping line right

there let's do the same and the mommy

spider I'm glad you don't give up when

you draw with me girls and boys and that

you try to come up with some of your own

ideas too let's put the antenna on top

of our our baby spider and mommy spider

starting right here one two and starting

right here one two antenna good hmm well

we could put some hair it spicy little

hairs on our spiders I think I'll put

one two one two little hairs and two

hairs there and another two hairs right

there and two or more little hairs right

there kind of makes them fuzzy all right

now they're on top of a tree branch okay

this is going to be the branch of the

tree starting right here I'm bringing

this line over and right through there

and stop and I'm going to pick it up

right about here right next to this leg

right here I'm gonna draw another line

and stop and then right in between mommy

spiders hands we're going to bring the

line out like that and stop starting

right here I made a little line like

that and I'm going to draw a long very

long line like that and bring it over

and stop right there good now there's

another branch coming up this way just

like this we're starting at this point

right here let's draw another another

long line and over here this is the

other side of the branch very good now

let's show some detail on the trio k and

what i mean by detail is we'll just draw

some very small little curve lines three

of them just like that one two three and

one two three little lines right there

and I like to draw a few more lines like

that very good well I think that just

about completes our drawing of a mommy

spider and a little voice biter I like

those spiders you drew if they could

talk I wonder what they would say let's

find out hey picture do your stuff

time to make you rap yes you can you

just have to try here goes they're very

good that little spider sure was good at

weaving his web even though at first he

wasn't sure he could and his confidence

helped him do it I bet my confidence

will help me plant those closer seeds

and do a good job of growing Mike over

but first how can i help my confidence

your girl a little more Pappy hmm here's

something you can do imagine yourself

planting the seeds Chucky and the clover

beginning to grow around you I'm doing

it I'm doing it it's working it's

working now imagine yourself smelling

the clover isn't it fragrant now think

about how the clover will feel when you

lie down and roll in it ah Chucky are

you sleeping oh oh oh sorry pappi a

cleaver felt so soft and comfortable do

you remember how sweet the clover

smelled yes papy that does it I'm ready

to start planting that's the spirit

Chucky I have an idea let's sing a song

while you get ready to plant your seeds

Oh sing a song coño pappi do you have a

song about confidence for us I'm

confident that I do good go for it

new things can seem a little scary lock

the feeling you get on your first day of

school that's why confidence is so

necessary that means you need it so that

you do your best as you keep your cool

you've got to remember to say

I did it before I'll do it

I see myself

I might just have a green pot after all

before long I'll be able to AH take a

nap in my new clover and you'll have

your favorite bedtime snack too well now

it's time for me to get back to the

cabin so I can call it with the girls

two one mr. jumping crayfish I better

have my eyes checked but I like your

eyes green Elmer they look funny checked

very funny drew it don't forget I'm in

charge of the jokes around here you sure

are confident about that well I let you

do the colouring don't I thanks Elmer

speaking of colouring let's call her our

spiders now if you have your crayons or

colored pencils or markers that's great

remember even though i'm picking out

certain colors to use for my spider you

can pick other colors if you want to

it's up to you if you want you can even

color each of the spiders legs a

different color do you know how many

colors that would be that's right you'd

have eight different colored legs on

both fighters that's because spiders

have eight legs hmm that reminds me oh

well anything can happen when you use

your imagination sock it to me Pam very

funny Elmer I'm gonna start off by

calling the little baby spider using my

purple crayon I like purple you can

choose any color you'd like and Pappy

pick purple for his spider

and I'm sure some of you pick different

colors and that makes it a lot of fun

because you have a choice to use any

color that you would like now what Pepe

is doing here he's not calling it all

the way he's leaving it very light i'm

calling it dark and then as i get

towards the center I leave it very light

and that makes it look like a shine

doesn't it let's do the same for the

mama spider all righty power that in and

we'll around the top back down again and

as you go towards the center Pappy's

coloring very lightly he's not pressing

down on his cran he's going very soft

very gentle and I get darker when I get

on the outside of area here and when I

move in towards the center I'm not

pressing down good okay I'm going to

color in the spider's eyes I'm going to

use a very bright color and some of you

have already guessed what that color is

did somebody say yellow e that's correct

yellow now I'm going to color in the

spiders face and i think i'm going to

use hmm a light blue but you can use any

color that you'd like and there we go

do the same for them I'm a spider yes

like so I didn't call her in the nose

yet and on the baby spider or the mama

spider because i'm going to choose a

different color for the color of their

noses and what would be a good color hmm

did somebody say red that's exactly what

I was thinking I like it when you use

your imagination you guess what color

I'm going to use and I'll color in the

little baby spiders nose and the mama

spiders nose ok hmm now i'm going to

color in the spiders legs okay and

they're kind of fuzzy so watch what

Pappy does here I'm going to take my

purple crayon and I'm gonna make some

squiggly wiggly lines just like that can

you see that and that's the fuzz on the

spiders legs and I have to do that how

many times that's right eight times

because there's a legs on a spider and

we'll do that again that's six all

together one two three four five six

seven eight okay let's finish these last

two here just like so and we'll do the

same for the mommy spider fuzzy legs one

fuzzy leg whoops don't worry if you

break a cran you can continue to color

using the side of the krann like Pappy's

doing three legs or

five and these are my swig Lee Wiggly

lines i call them just like so and we're

gonna do the same good okay now i'm

going to color in the tree and i think a

good color for the tree would be brown

or gray or even black i think i'll use

brown and I'm gonna start by calling

this part of the branch right here but

I'm not going to fill it in all the way

I'm gonna just color like so don't worry

about filling all this in we're going to

make believe there's a light hitting

this branch right there and I'm gonna

just color in the bottom of this branch

like this yes like so and we'll just go

back don't color it in all the way but

if you do that's okay you can use any

color that you like just have fun while

you're doing it very good alrighty very

nice

they're my drawing is finished now when

you finish yours you can send it to me

if you like watch for the address at the

end of the program you're drawing might

even be featured in the Hall of frames

okay we see more of that children's

drawings Pappy that music answered your

question binky it means it's time to

visit the Hall of frames well we can go

and see some of the drawings the kids

have sent in yippee all right let's go

outstanding look at all these pictures

that girls and boys have sent in aren't

they terrific each one has something

different about it and that's what I

love to see that you add your own

imagination to whatever we draw together
