today here in papy's Cabin hello

is well lookie there I see lots of you

have your crayons and pencils and

markers and your paper's all ready to go

you have time to run and get yours if

you aren't quite ready yet hello Marcus

here today thanks again for sending me

your pictures we'll be looking at some

of them in the Hall of Frames later on

tracks to the Hamlet right away what for

Belle is someone taking a train to see

tracks papy I'm talking about your foot

tracks you need to hurry to the Hamlet I

heard from a reliable source that Turtle

loo and Buddy bear are not getting along

but turtle and Buddy bear they're great

friends I don't know what the problem is

but when you find out will you kindly

let me know someone has to keep on top

of everything here in papy land that's

to before we go to the Hamlet we need to

figure out how we're going to get

marching bu bear we must take the path

on the left but I want to take the path

on the right left right left right left

right left right it sounds like you've

been marching too hi fellas want to join

can't papy why not because we can't

agree on where we should go Turtle l

wants to go to the left and the bud

wants to go to the

right so I guess we're going nowhere

it's a tragedy papy and it's pretty sad

too sometimes it's helpful to see

something from another point of view to

change the way you look at something

have you ever had an argument with your

brother or your sister wow lots of you

have and when you tell your mom or your

dad what happened are your stories the

same they're pretty different right

that's because each person has his own

way of saying things that's called the

person's point of

view how do you know who has the right

point of view papy uh points of view

aren't always right or wrong buddy at

lots of times they're just different

different is Ben M you're right tur a

little different is good and it's best

to try to appreciate how others see

things that means you try to understand

how they feel and maybe I could draw you

a picture to show you what I mean what a

perfectly magnificent idea pap and it's

a good idea too drawing with you is

better than eating a Jar full of honey

papy that's a real good compliment buddy

now let's get

Lets get started

started whenever I draw I think about

the point of view if I'm drawing I have

to think about whether I'm seeing

something from above uh below or across

or maybe even from inside

all right let's get

started I'm going to draw a

dinosaur and I'm going to start by

drawing his

eyes and that's two circles together

okay one Circle two circles all right

starting right here let's put one Circle

right there and right next to it another

Circle and right here let's put another

small circle Circle and another little

circle good those are the dinosaur's

eyes all right let's put a curve line

there and a looping line there and this

is the front of our dinosaur's face now

let's start right here and draw a curve

line and bring it up and stop right

there good now let's draw the other side

of his face and put a small curve line

here and I'm going to bring a looping

line around like that or a kind of a

half

circle and let's draw the bottom of his

jaw that's just a curve

line and bring it over and

stop oh let's put his nose right here

that's one of his one of his little

nostril here so we'll put a kind of a

black dot like that and outline

it

good now let's draw another Circle for

his

cheek

there good now let's draw the back of

our dinosaur we'll bring a line there a

curve Line stop and another one but

don't stop let's do a

tail just like

that good stop right there now let's

draw the front of the dinosaur there's

part of his neck let's bring a curved

line around and another curved line and

and bring this line around and that's

his

belly okay now let's draw one

arm and we'll just a little Loop another

little Loop and bring it

up and we'll indicate the front of this

other arm just like that let's put some

little nails and we can do that by just

putting two small curved lines one there

and another one right there

there good it's good to put yourself

into your friend shoes uh maybe none of

your friends wear size 24 like buddy

bear I just mean it's good to be

sensitive to how your friends look at

things all right let's

draw the dinosaur's

leg and bring that line around good and

another line right

there and and we'll bring a another

curved

line we're drawing uh a whole bunch of

curved lines on our

dinosaur it's good practice though isn't

it boys and girls okay let's bring that

line down you can see the dinosaur's

legs all right he needs toes so let's

start right here and bring a curved line

around and stop and bring this line

around and over and another loop line

right there good and let's do the same

we'll on the other leg like that and

we'll bring these two curved lines

around for his other toes good and we'll

do the same thing we did on on his arms

we'll put a curve line there to show one

toenail and another curve line to show

another one and we'll do the same with

that

one

good do you know what kind of dinosaur

this is

is I bet you I bet you can guess if you

really try some of you might even have a

story book about dinosaurs this is

called the Tyrannosaurus Rex that's

right all right I think I'm going to

draw a tree next to the dinosaur so

let's start right here and bring this

line up and bring it over and loop it

around and bring it back down try not to

let the lines touch but if you do don't

worry we'll bring another line up and

another it's an old tree there aren't

too many branches on it and we'll bring

another Branch out and two little small

loops and we'll bring the branch back

down just like that

good now let's draw the bottom of the

trunk we'll show The Roots and we'll

just put a curv line like that just a

curved line and bring another curve line

line up and back

down

good all righty now starting right over

here let's show that the ground that the

dinosaur and the tree are on the ground

just like that good and starting right

here we'll continue the ground behind

the

dinosaur I making kind of a curve line a

wiggly curve line like that good

now right here let's draw a

rock okay a big old rock right here and

we'll bring a line around and curve it

up and bring it

back down just like

that I'm going to just show a little

bumpy ground by drawing two curved lines

it kind of shows the rock is laying on

the ground like that and you can put a

few dots like that and that kind of

shows dirt see it makes it look like

dirt or sand or

gravel all

right let's just uh I know let's put a

fly how funny that is let's put a fly on

that rock he looks so small and because

he's so small all we need to do is just

put a dot can you see that right here a

DOT now let's draw a little tiny Wings

on our fly those just little looping

lines little tiny wings like that all

righty One

dinosaur a tree and a

fly they look great to me now let's

watch how the point of view

changes picture

wowe the tree look so big when the fly

Its not magic

was down on the ground but when he flew

up to visit the dinosaur the tree got

really

little how did that happen is it magic

it's not magic buddy the fly chest took

the time to see the tree from the

dinosaur's point of view would you like

to take the time to sing a little and

and dance a little too it might help you

understand a little better ah music It's

Magic for the soul and it makes you feel

special inside too oh sing a song I'm

being sensitive I certainly do and it's

called pretend you're

my brown eyes and I'll look with your

blue seeing the world with a new point

of view is a better thing to

do when you say mine and someone else

says please when you can't laugh at

someone else's teas when you disagree

what can you do kick and holler scream

the path on the right from my point of

magnifico what a view I could not see

the pictures Countryside from down where

I stood on the ground I see now why you

wanted us to take our walk on that path

would you care to see the path you chose

from my point of view well that's a very

I mean a very good

idea jump in honeybees who put all the

fertilizer on the grass it grew very

tall very fast the grass didn't grow

buddy it just looks taller from down

where turt Lou is and who put those

giant Boulders on the path the rocks on

the path look big when you're up close

but they're really not and what happened

to the view the view is still there

buddy it's just that it's hard to see

the view from where you and turtle L are

well I can see why you wouldn't want to

take a walk down the path on the right

why from down there the path is very

bumpy and the grass is awfully high and

you can't even see the view I guess my

point of view isn't very good but it is

I never noticed before how how yellow

the buttercups are and how soft the Moss

feels and how bubbly the brook sounds

and how fuzzy the caterpillars are I

love your point of view Turtle L Grande

but what shall we do about our walk I

know know I can share my point of view

with you up you

go let's take the path on the right when

we go on our walk and we'll take the

path on the left on the way back can you

come with us papy I love to buddy but

the children and I have to get back to

papy's cabin I hope you two have fun bye

Coloring

bye-bye time to come back to the cabin

for some coloring ready the py scope is

a different way of looking at py land

right papy it sure is

papy H how does he do that or should I

say how do I do that what's that oh

that's right there's no limitation to

our

imagination up scope

are you ready to use your imagination

and color with me now great get your

crayons markers and pencils together

because we're about ready to get

started let's see I think I'm going to

color the dinosaur

green kind of a bluish green

very

nice he's such a big dinosaur look how

how he Towers over that tree he's so

tall notice I'm leaving this circle open

because we're going to use another

color to color in his little cheek

there and

just fill in your

Dinosaur turtle L and Buddy bear had

different points of view just like the

dinosaur and the Fly they both wanted to

go on different paths for their walk so

they made a plan to start on One path

and finish on another they really worked

it

out I wonder what color you chose for

your

dinosaur I'll bet some of you chose

purple or

green or even red or

yellow doesn't matter that's what I like

when I draw with you boys and girls I

like it when you choose any color that

you'd like

nice let's just fill

in this other leg

here like

so now the

tail that looks

good boys and girls do you ever like to

make up stories about your pictures if

you do I've got an idea for you you

could write two stories about the

dinosaur and the fly one story could be

about how the dinosaur would feel seeing

the world from the fly's point of view

the other could be about how the fly

would feel seeing the world from the

dinosaur's point of view that would be

fun all righty let's just finish this

other foot here

nice now I think I'm going to color the

inside of his eyes H

yellow I like the way that looks and his

toenails make those

yellow very very

nice and I'm going to make his

fingernails

yellow now I'll color in the tree I

think I'll

use this color which is a

brown color for the

tree and fill that right in

in very

nice take your time you don't have to

color as fast as papy

does just have fun and

relax now I think I'll color in the

Rock I'm going to use gray for The Rock

and I'm

coloring this

rock

gray

there now I'm going to choose my green

crayon for the ground I think that would

be a nice color to

use and again you can use any color

combination that you like

feel free to do anything you like when

you

color I want you to enjoy

yourselves because I love it when you

use your own

ideas and that looks very nice now I'm

going to

indicate some blue in the back just to

show the sky like

so you don't have to color it all in

just show some blue in the background

or use any color that you'd like just

have fun that's

right there we go and I'll just do that

there and now I'm going to color in

his

cheek

just like so and I'm G to leave a white

dot right in the

middle show py your pictures kids
