it was a lovely sunny day so Connie and
her friend patch went for a walk in the
countryside after a while Connie saw a
fox coming the other way hello Mr Fox
nice day

today why do people always have to say
hello Connie didn't think the fox was
very
nice she didn't think it was right to
growl at somebody who was saying hello
to you the fox walked on with a grumpy
expression good morning it's not a good
morning at all it's too hot now buzz off
the butterflies flew away Connie and
Patch thought the fox might need help so
they followed him in
secret I've been looking for food all
day and I still haven't found any are
you
hungry why don't you come over to my
house and have dinner with us

I can't stand it when people invite me
to dinner I can find food all on my
own the fox searched until he found a
toad stool hey you don't eat that toad
stool it might be bad for you said the
flower Connie and Patch were very
worried I don't need advice I'm sure
it's perfectly
harmless

after he'd gobbled up the toad stool the
grumpy fox went on his way feeling very
pleased with himself Connie and Patch
thought the toad stool might be bad for
him so they followed him it wasn't long
before the fox's tummy started to eat my
poor tummy I don't feel
well Connie and Patch could see that the
fox was poorly and they felt very sorry
for him you should have listened to the
flower's advice I know you're
right it
hurts forly we knew what to do to help
you just at that moment Along Came some
friendly little
ants hello there ants this fox has eaten
a toad sto a poisonous one and now he
feels very poorly can you help him of
course we can we'll make him better in
no time at all but we need lots of water
we'll go and F some water won't we patch

go first of all Connie found a bucket to
carry the
[Music]
water Connie and Patch were very happy
now they had the water that the ants had
asked them to
bring but the water came leaking out of
a hole in the bucket oh no patch the
bucket's empty are you sure maybe
there's a wee bit left but unfortunately
Connie was right there wasn't any water
in the bucket not a single drop Connie
and Patch didn't know what to do what
should we do have you got any ideas Pat
we could go and get some more but you
see we just Le out of the hole in the
bucket
again then a friendly Little Crab
appeared hello my friends I've been
listening in and I think I can help you
what we need to do is get ourselves a
big block of ice oh but it's not ice we
need we need water but you see ice is
frozen
water oh
strange there's nothing strange about it
follow me and you'll
[Music]
see
ah look he can run very fast for such a
tiny
crab back at the river the crab
explained that in the springtime the
snow in the mountains begins to melt and
pieces of ice fall into the
river
hooray here we are
the crab hurried off with the ice and
Connie and Patch followed happily along
behind
him my poor tummy why don't they hurry
with the water don't worry here we
are you'll soon be feeling a lot better
you'll see yes we've brought a lovely
big lump of ice from the river but I is
no good you were supposed to bring me
some
water
just your wait it's a hot day the ice
will melt and turn into water and while
the ice was melting one of the ants
brought some special
herbs I'll mix these in the water
they'll make your tummy feel
better when the medicine was ready the
fox drank it all
up
[Music]
a I feel much better thank you for your
help Connie and her friends were very
happy because the fox was well again you
know that was very kind would you like
to be my friends we'd love to be your
friends even though you're
grumpy me grumpy oh I don't know what
you're talking about
[Music]
that night Connie thought that sometimes
the grumpy animals are the ones that
need our help most if we're kind to them
they can become our best friends just
like the grumpy
