amazing creature it has a 6ft wingspan

morning Mark morning and who's your

little friend here this is Mimbo are

there many kinds of eagles yeah there

are several kinds of eagles we've got

the two eagles in this country the

golden eagle and the bald eagle and

Mimbo is a Marshall eagle and she comes

from Africa are they all endangered no

they're not there are various levels of

of threatened and endangered birds the

thing with them is though because she's

a bird of prey she's protected how did

you come to own her well it's kind of

funny we were filming a movie in Africa

a long long time ago and we had a

rhinoceros that we had broughten from

the United States to Africa and we were

working in a game park we didn't want to

bring the rhinoceros back and so we

traded the rhinoceros for herbo

fortunately many years have gone by and

now you can't bring birds you can't

import them anymore how did you tame her

well it's a ancient art of falconry and

you use it from the smallest sparrow

hawk all the way up to the eagles and

it's falconry and it's a thing of

manning her holding her on her glove

teaching her that you are the food

sending her calling her back she looks

really big does she weigh a lot actually

she doesn't weigh as much as you'd think

now a turkey her size would weigh about

35 lbs mimboa weighs 15 lbs how many

baby eagles are born at a time they

usually have one at a time and they're

called eiglets how long do they live

they live a long time we've had Mimbo

she was an adult when we got her and

we've had her for almost 15 years so

most birds like her can live to be about

45 50 years old where do they live

naturally in in Africa from south of the

Sahara Desert all the way down into

South Africa in the in the savas but not

in the forest her beak looks really

strong but is she dangerous well she's

dangerous she's a predator a bird of

prey and all she thinks about is eating

and k*lling food but it's not her beak

that's dangerous it's her feet they're

called talons and these are so strong I

can't even describe to you how strong

her talons are but her tendons are like

steel and she can pinch and pull with

those talons and that's where she's very

dangerous that's how she kills her prey

would she hurt you with them she's hurt

me several times with them but not on

purpose she's not a mean bird but she's

just so

instinctually predatorial that she

accidentally hurts me and there's been

times where these talents have gone all

the way through this which is five

layers of leather wow can you show us

her wingspan sure

wow how's that she's a big bird isn't

she she's a very big bird will she fly

for us in the studio we'll see
