good morning Janet it's great to be here

how old were you when you first started

playing the sachs well I was 13 years

old about your age right you're 12 right

so and I had already played the piano

and the drums and I was of course

horrible at both of them and it wasn't

until I picked up the saxophone that I

found an instrument that really felt

natural for me can you show us how to

play a saxophone sure this is uh an alto

what you have to do basically is learn

how to finger and you press the buttons

down and that's what changes the note

plus also there's a mouthpiece on there

this is the mouthpiece and this black

thing right here is a what we call a

read and the read vibrates against the

mouthpiece and that sends a sound if you

just take this

alone sounds like a duck call or

something like that alone but when you

put it on the

saxophone

and put your mouth on it and you blow

into it it makes this sound

wow are there different kinds of

saxophones

oh boy it's hard on the back this is

called a baritone and uh this is about

as big as you are right now I think very

big what would you like me to play um

pretty low huh now the next one up from

the baritone is the tenor

sacks that's the tenor and then if you

take the mouthpiece off of this
