hold them they're trained alligators and

camera the whole time he showed us how

to hold them safely so he could invite

alligators you may come across are not

trained so just get away from them as

fast as you can and say see you later

really that's okay lots of kids are

scared of reptiles and in some ways it's

good that they are it's good that I'm

scared

yes it's good to be scared about things

that are dangerous and alligators are

dangerous so I shouldn't feel stupid

about being so freaked out not at all

lots of kids are scared of lots of

things I'm still scared the dark so I

leave a light on in my closet that's

great janessa you found a way of dealing

with your fear well the only way I can

live with my fear of alligators is to

avoid that that's a very good solution

to and it also might help you to learn

more about them which the parks are

standing by know it and take it today

our own janet veyts is going to

interview a man who has chosen some very

difficult animals to work with his name

is Gerald Sylvester any Trine's

alligators for commercials TV and movies

he's brought one to the studio and boy

has that little alligator let everyone

know that she's here Jules thank you so

much for joining us here today

my pleasure well first of all how can

you tell an alligator from a crocodile

let me show you come on Daisy

daisy has an alligator she has a shorter

nose whereas a crocodile has a much

longer nose so how long is this one this

one's about two feet how long do they

get well this one being a female she'll

probably reach eight to nine feet now

the male's get anything up to 14 15

maybe even 16 feet Wow that's like three

times my size yeah dad ears yeah they do

that sting yeah sort of right in here

they don't understand us but they hear

us real well how do you get the big ones

to work on the moon um

it's not so much training as we actually

call them buy a lot of meat they like

meat and it has to be nice and warm they

like it's warm too

do you catch them no we breed our own

yeah they breed every year how many do

you have we have a dozen Wow you treat

them all nicely don't you

absolutely gentry an alligator nasty he

won't treat you very nicely we have a

big mud puddle pond like a swamp and

they will live in there so tell us what

do we do if we accidentally come across

a crocodile alligator where's the

crocodile is in front of you you run

that way very fast well thank you for

coming and teaching us so much fat Dave
