And with modern mining
technology it's there for the taking.

up, getting the pump in there.

The plan was to make
a ton of gold on the ice

and then start breaking
ground on the inland.

But 56, it was a total nightmare
and threw us way off schedule.

Keep finding all kinds of mine shafts,

and railroad tracks, picks and axes.

I'm excited.

Now we have enough
ounces to start digging.

We do well on this and I think
there could be 54,000 ounces

just in this area that we're working.

But there's a problem.

We got a lot of work to do yet.

The pit, it's filled full of water.

Almost 60 feet at the deepest part.

We gotta drain it.

'Cause with spring coming, in a
matter of days it's gonna start melting.

And if you don't beat it before it thaws

it turns everything into a soup

and you can't load it.

So we gotta do it now
while there's still time.

This is the suction line,
it goes out into the water.

The screen keeps the sticks
and all the debris out of the intake

so the pumps can pump clean.

This needs to happen
fast, a day or two tops.

And the boys, they gotta keep
that gold coming in on the ice.

'Cause with equipment and labor
it's gonna cost a small fortune.

If anything goes wrong during
this process it could ruin me.

ounces of gold for our summer season

to pay for the crawler to be ready.

We're nowhere near that
much and we're running

out of days, but help has finally arrived.

sluice box from a few years ago.

We tested it, and it looks
like it solved our problem.

That's actually really good for an hour.
