Previously on expedition big foot...

We've come to Washington.

Look at that thing.

The epicenter of sightings.

Look at how these things are woven.

The nest that that scout showed me,

it was right here, right
in the heart of the fork.

It seems to be like a natural choke point.

I believe big foot is coming
through this choke point

in large numbers, right here at this fork.

But why?

And mireya, I found a local who I
think would make a perfect partner.

Guys, this is biko. He's
going to be joining mireya.

I believe that there's

something out there
and I'm going after it.

To me, your knowledge of the
woods comes from experience.

And biko has a lot of that.

It's our largest target zone
yet, and we're ready for it.

Tracking how many animals
move together is going to be vital.

This trip wire is gonna let us know.

The tech we're using is revolutionary.

Sensors should be coming online now.

I can clearly detect both of you.

The stakes are high out here.

I mean one misstep,

you're falling hundreds
of feet to your death.

I've run across a couple
of rogues in my time.

Back up, back up, back up.

You can just see the anger. He's just like.

I don't know. But let's go find out.

There's two culverts here.

What's at the other end of this culvert?

Like I say, fear the Rouge.

Look at down the side here.

See how this stuff is still wet?

That means something coming
through here moved pretty fast.

Watch. See this wall over here?

If I hit it.

Whatever that was, it
went right through here,

and I don't know where it's leading us.

After finding the remains of a
recently k*lled deer in the woods,

survivalist Russell a cord

has been following the
trail through the night,

of what he believes to be
an unidentified predator.

And by following the
sounds of a loud banging,

he was led inside of a massive culvert.

That's a dangerous game.

That's a six or eight foot drop straight
into some really, really deep water.

This is an old culvert.

Timber companies
generally put these culverts in

to relieve an area
that's subject to flooding.

These culverts are much larger
than what you normally see,

which makes it the perfect passage

to go from one side
of the area to the other.

I think it'll jump right into the water.

All that moss right here

is untouched.

Whatever came through
here it jumped in that water,

hit the shoreline
somewhere and left tracks.

I think that thing was signaling.

The smashing of
something on the side of it

was the exact same sound
that I had heard earlier.

Back up, back up, back up.

There's something
right here in front of us.

Jeez!

Come here, come here, come here.

It was done with intent.

So I know that what I'm pursuing

is letting others know that we're there.

I want to scour this area.

Whatever came out here
and jumped in that water,

hit the shoreline
somewhere and left tracks.

I want to know what came through here.

If it's what I think it is,
we're on the right track.

We're on the heels of something
that doesn't want us to see it.

Whatever it was who made that sound,

has to be close.

Let's scour this area.

If there's gonna be tracks,
there's gonna be something.

At the command center,

Bryce continues to monitor the seismic trip
wire that was established two days ago.

It's amazing how fast this thing is able

to, decipher that data from those sensors

and turn it into real-time information.

As Russell continues to investigate

the area surrounding the culverts,

primatologist Dr. Mireya mayor
and biko Wright hike all night

to make it back to their base camp.

That's odd.

That tent collapsed a bit.

So did that one.

That's really, really strange.

That is very strange.

Was it just the rain that
knocked it down like that?

Definitely looks like it took a beating.

Biko, does it look like yours?

These polls were pulled out like this?

'Cause this looks like it was
completely pulled out of this tent.

This tent has got a limb out as well.

At first I thought rain and wind,

but what's not making any sense

is how these really long tent
Poles were pulled out, this much.

That requires some manipulation.

- That's really bizarre.
- Yeah, I mean...

Something you need thumbs for.

I've had small animals, and even wind,

tear the material in my tents before

but pulling the Poles out completely

without tearing any of the material,

I've never seen that before.

Makes you wonder if something did this.

There is something great
about when you set up a campsite

that animals feel comfortable
enough to go through there.

It's also an indicator that there is animal
activity here, which is what we want.

And in this case, because
what we are looking for

could be a highly
intelligent, curious animal.

This is a great sign.

I mean, let's go check
out those trail cams

because if anything or
anyone did come through here,

we should be able to catch it.

At least one of them should
have picked up something.

Let's check this side first.

When we set up base camp,

we set a perimeter of trail
cams around our camp.

When you're trying to prove
the existence of an animal,

you can't leave anything to chance.

Nothing out of the ordinary on this one.

Are you seeing anything?

No.

It all appeared to be set off
by wind blowing branches.

You'd expect to see at least some deer.

- That's a really good game trail.
- I know.

All right, let's check the other ones.

Look at that light flashing there.

Do you see that? It's subtle,

but it looks like some kind of light

shifting on the tree trunks in the back.

It's, like, reflecting.

What would be giving off light?

To reflect like that.

I don't know.

I can make myself pretty
close to invisible when I want to.

And I can move stealthy
through the woods.

But the fact that whatever
came in, evaded all our trail cams,

kind of, left it a mystery to me.

Let's just go ahead and
send this one to Bryce,

and he can take a closer look at it.

As mireya and biko continue
to check the perimeter

for more signs of what came into camp,

they immediately send Bryce the
footage their trail camera captured.

I'm going to take a look.

Just see what the heck is going on.

Let's play this thing.

Whoa, what the hell is that?

Right away there's some
movement over here by this tree.

That's a bat.

Yeah. Yeah, I'm seeing wings right here.

I even see a flap.

But it keeps recording, which means,

I think something else might
have triggered this camera.

And I do see something

in the back. It's not much, but...

If I just take a simple
screen grab of this,

where I see those
flickering lights back there,

then I can pull that screen grab up,

and just start to mess with
some of these lights and shadows.

Look at that. There we go.

Starting to see something now.

Wait a minute.

My...

What the is that?

My gosh.

I'm seeing, like, a head
and shoulders and a body.

This thing looks huge.

You know, but it's
also almost translucent.

I wonder if this thing was maybe moving

through the camp in a
strange way or really fast

and ir camera had a
hard time picking this up.

I mean, you'd have to
be super-fast to do that.

I don't get that at all.

I'm gonna let 'em know that something
is definitely coming through their camp.

- Hey, Bryce.
- Hey.

So I got that file, and,

I was able to, sort of, mess
with the contrast and exposure,

and when I did that, mireya,

I saw what looked like a huge, hulking
figure, sort of, lurking in the back.

Are you serious?

I mean, I pulled this thing out.

I see a head and shoulders,

but here's the strange part.

It's coming off almost transparent,

and I'm wondering if
this thing was moving in a,

so fast that it, kind of,
messed with the ir camera.

I mean, if an animal is
well adapted to the area,

you'd be surprised how well
it can move around and hunt.

I've been 10 feet next
to a silver back gorilla,

and they're massive,

and I didn't know it was there.

So you're saying a large
animal could potentially

move through a space and stay invisible?

Maybe not quite invisible.

But, close.

In fact, some large predators, like cats,

have complex strategies that allow
them to stalk prey and remain unseen.

It's called motion camouflage.

Motion camouflage. That's incredible.

Perhaps that could
explain why we're not getting

a clear image on these trail cameras.

Look, I'm gonna dig around,
see if I can find any local witnesses

who've seen these things
move around in strange ways.

Perfect.

We're gonna start searching
the area outside our camp.

Sounds good.

Last night we were here.

Something came into that culvert

and came out this backside,

and down into this wash.

Ten miles from mireya and biko,

Russell returns to the
culvert where last night,

he heard something banging rocks

against the inside of the metal cylinder.

I think that signal with the rocks,

it was to let anything know

that was within earshot,
that we were here.

It was a warning system.

We're going to scour this
area and see what we can find.

I'm gonna find out what
came through that culvert.

There's gotta be tracks.

There's got to be hair.

There's got to be
some kind of a trail to find.

I'm here to find it.

Look at that.

Holy crap.

That's toe prints.

Look at that.

Holy crap.

That's toe prints.

That is four, five separated toes.

But look at this.

There's a second one.

That's about the same size as my foot.

You see the pad, the heel. The pad, heel.

Look at the size difference.

Here is the tip of the toe, the back
of the heel and the tip of the toe.

Takes a little bit longer than this.

Look at this one.

That's about three inches shorter.

We have two separate
types of tracks here.

One big one, one set of small ones.

This is definitely what
we were hearing last night.

The footprints aren't bear prints.

They're not deer prints.

These are, by every
definition, a big foot track.

Two separate sizes.

Two different prints.

Two different creatures.

It's getting out of this
canyon is what it's doing.

They're going up.

We need to go up.

I'm on the right path.

I think these creatures were
here just a matter of hours ago.

I have to keep moving.

If I cast these prints,

it's a two hour wait.

And I'm burning valuable time.

I cannot stay here.

With time being of the essence,

Russell takes multiple photographs

of each print from different angles,

which will allow the team
to make a composite image,

showing greater detail later.

There's nothing that's going
to put me off this trail now.

They both went straight up.

Let's go.

This is a really, really nice area.

Got some older trees in here.

Lots of cover.

Nine miles from Russell's position,

mireya and biko are walking one of
the main game trails from base camp,

in search of whatever came
through their camp last night.

- Yeah, a good playground for animals.
- -Yeah.

Because we didn't see
anything on the trail cams,

biko and I wanted to
walk the surrounding areas

to see if we can find
any sort of evidence.

Any impressions left on the ground

of whatever it is that
came through our camp.

Given the amount of
damage to the tents,

this had to have been
done by something large.

There's some salmonberries
here that haven't been eaten,

and there's one that has.

I do.

And bears. So something's grazing here.

So I think we're on the right track.

There's that creek.

You see anything in
the mud down there?

Well, actually, yeah.

Wow!

That's a nice looking,
incomplete footprint.

Yeah.

You have a perfect shape of a heel,

and then the curvature of the foot.

Yeah.

We're missing that part
of it because of the water,

but nice sized print.

It's bigger than my prints,
and I've got size 13 boots, so.

It's about 15 inches.

But look, the water is
really starting to seep in,

yeah.

Seeing water starting to seep
into it right before our eyes,

made me realize that
this was a very recent print.

Had we gotten there just a minute later,

we would have never seen that print.

What about right there?

Kind of looks like
something stepped on that.

- It sure does.
- Right here.

- Yeah.
- Maybe that was the first stride there,

and then it stepped here.

And you can see the moss is
crushed here and, kind of, sliding in.

Between that print

and this disturbance, you're
looking at about four and a half feet.

That's bigger than any of my strides.

Not something that even a
really tall human could possibly do.

- Would it have gone up and over this log?
- -What about... look.

What about right here?

Yeah, that looks like

looks like something stepped in there.

Something disturbed
that, and you can see

the rotting wood here
is, kind of, ripped up.

Yeah.

Something definitely crossed
through this creek and

- I agree.
- Continued on in this direction.

Let's just keep following this.

Hey, check this out.

Right here, it looks like
something clambered over the log

and took off some moss in the process.

Looks like the devil's club
has cleared up for a minute.

Shh! Listen, listen.

Did you hear that?

There is something
definitely moving up there.

Let's keep going.

You know, we've done
expeditions here Washington before,

which has allowed me to develop
a network of trusted sources

who get to hear about local
encounters here in the area.

So after mireya mentioned the
possibility of camouflage movement,

I reached out to that network

to see if they had heard any stories
about big foot moving in strange ways.

And lo and behold,

they gave me the number
to a man named Alan...

Who had a very strange encounter.

Thank you for inviting us into your
home, Alan, I really appreciate it.

No problem.

Listen, I understand...

You had something
happen not too far from here.

About a hundred and fifty feet.

Okay, that's really close.

- Yeah, it's still raw.
- Yeah.

And this happened a few years ago?

Yeah, August of 22.

Can you tell me what you saw?

So this night,

I look north,

and I see...

Hundred and fifty feet up the
road or so on the other side,

a large man walking away from me

just down the side of the road.

It's about eleven o'clock,

it's not too unusual. It's
a pretty safe place here,

so a lot of people walk around,

so I didn't think too much
of it, except for the size.

It was big.

How big are we talking?

At least eight feet.

Okay.

And it was crossing the road.

It just took three, maybe three steps

across two lanes of traffic.

And... What I... What I saw next was,

it was crawling across the road,

like a spider.

And it wasn't a man, it was a sasquatch,

and it was stretched out across the road

with one hand on the yellow line, here,

and one foot on the yellow line

on the other side of two lanes of traffic.

And when it crossed, it pivoted on a foot.

It didn't just, like, gradually turn.

It just went, wham!

And it was looking the other way,

instantaneously.

So agile, stealthy, speedy.

- No sound.
- Powerful.

Didn't look at me.

So how do you feel about,
sort of, living in this area,

knowing what you saw,
now, so close to your home?

It's just really freaking me out.

I mean, I just went out there today,

and I looked up that
road and I can see it.

And I can see it just
picking up that whole road.

Right.

I wish I hadn't seen it.

Yeah.

You know, Alan, looking
back on this event,

I can tell it has had a
profound effect on you.

Why do you think it has
affected you in this way?

I just think I saw something
that we aren't supposed to see.

You've got a creature
that's, what, eight feet tall,

six... 800 pounds, that can run.

- God knows how fast.
- How far?

That can move through the bushes
without you hearing it standing up.

Now it can crawl like
a spider right by you.

And you never know it's there.

And then I think it
was only 150 feet away,

and I'm looking at the woods
next to where we're sitting right now.

Could there be one just
crawling through there right now?

We don't know. And that's the scary part.

This is ground zero.

There's no doubt in my mind.

This is where it's going to be found.

Hey, guys. Guys, you
gotta come down here.

Biko thinks he saw something.

Yeah, no. We gotta get cameras.

And dude, like, he looks freaked out.

We were just kind of taking
a breather from the hike,

and he swears he saw something
moving, walking, and it looked human.

And he's pretty freaked out.



while the camera crew was
on a break changing batteries,

biko was startled by the
movement of something

just 50 yards away.

Have you heard anything else?

Tell these guys what you just saw.

- Do you see that leaning branch?
- -Yeah.

I saw that thing go,
like kind of bend and...

Spring, and that's why
I was like, "there's...

Gotta be someone there."

Why don't you take me
up to where you saw it,

- and maybe we can find some prints or...
- Sure.

Something it left behind.

I thought it was a person

because it wasn't something
that was on all fours.

And then it stopped behind this
big old mass of old-growth stump.

And I just had, like, a
weird... a weird vibe, you know.

Kind of like

the feeling you get when
someone's watching you.

Definitely weirded me out.

- So it was just here?
- Yeah.

And then there was nothing.

I didn't see any movement
in the ferns or nothing.

Look at this.

That looks like a foot,

and a big one.

Well, that looks like a step to me.

You can see a pretty
clear definition of a step,

and even the markings, the
shape of toes on the edge.

You've got the back arch, and
you've got the indentations here.

And it's heading back in that direction.

Like it crept back over the hill, maybe.

I think that there's nothing quite on par

with what a sasquatch
can do in the wilderness.

They're masters of their environment.

They're large, they're
strong, they're stealthy.

Do you see another one?

I was wondering if that might
have been an impression, too.

That looks like a footprint to me. Right?

Yeah. Yeah it does.

It's all pressed down.
The dirt's kicked away.

Whatever it is that you saw

- has to be really close to us right now...
- Right.

And heading in that direction,

- so that's where we need to go.
- Yeah.

This thing was just here.

There's a chance that
we could catch up to it.

We marked the tracks so that
we could come back tomorrow.

All right, let's keep heading that way.

As far as I'm concerned, it's hot pursuit.

We're going up that hill,

we're getting after this thing,

and we're gonna try
and get a glimpse of it.

I know there's something
out here ahead of us...

And we've been right on its tail.



Russell has continued to track
the creatures who left those prints

outside the culvert last night.

If I stay on this trail,

it's gonna lead me to
whatever made those footprints.

What is that?

Do you see that?

Does that seem out of place to you?

Looking at the forest,

if you look, all the trees are upright.

But when you see
something that crosses

or something that seems out of place...

You pay attention to those things.

Holy crap.

This is weird.

When I walk up on this thing,

it had a cross in the middle of
it and another one on top of it.

It is something that stood
out alone in the forest.

It just felt weird to me.

Do you see this?

What the hell is that?

This has been here forever,

but it is just... This is
what caught my eye.

It just felt really weird.

But that isn't right.

That's not natural right there.

It took opposing thumbs
to make these rings.

We're out in the middle of the forest.

What would settle into this spot

and make this... This display?

I've never seen that
in the forest. Not ever.

I've heard of big foot stories where they

displace patterns on the ground

- and leave a pattern...
- A different pattern behind.

Could it have been campers?

Not where we're at.

Very unlikely.

It defies everything I know
about being in the forest

because it's... not natural.

Could this be big foot-related?

Right now, we are rigging this vehicle

for a nighttime investigation.

And the reason being is, you
know, after hearing Alan's story

about how that creature
crossed the road,

here's the thing.

Our target area is surrounded by roads.

And if these creatures are forking
off and migrating in different paths,

at some point they are gonna
have to cross many roads to do so.

So with this car, the plan
is to catch 'em doing it.

You know, we did this before
while we were here in Washington,

and I could not believe what I captured.

What the is that?

I see legs.

I feel like I see a bipedal
creature crossing the road.

So this is definitely something
that's worth trying again.

Only this time, we're
gonna go a little bit bigger.

So I've actually doubled
the audio and visual package

that we're gonna be putting on this car.

We have four ir cameras
with four ir floodlights,

giving us a maximum range of
about 50-100 yards on those IRS.

We are gonna have four thermal
cameras, front, side, back to back,

giving us a 360-degree
audio-visual surround.

So as I patrol the area in my car,

if anything is on the side of the road

or crossing the road, front, back,

we're gonna catch it.

It's pretty late right now,

about 03:00 in the morning,

and I've just been driving these roads...

Literally all night.

Deep in the back country
of southern Washington,

Bryce is patrolling the nearly 75-mile
perimeter surrounding the target zone,

where the team believes big
foot may be migrating through.

Armed with multiple
infrared and thermal cameras,

Bryce hopes this surveillance will capture

and locate the area where big
foot may be crossing the roadways.

So if we're right about
those migration routes,

then these creatures are
constantly crossing these roads.

And, you know, after
speaking with, Alan...

And hearing about that
crazy encounter he had,

we know they're
moving through this area,

and I believe this is a choke
point on their migration route.

But the challenge is locating 'em,

especially if they have
the ability to move in ways,

to avoid our detection.

That was pretty strange.

Yeah, I feel like... yeah, I think it did.

the track of something.

Looks like it's gonna get
pretty steep here soon.

Yeah, that looks like it goes straight up.

Yeah.

High ground makes sense.

After biko witnessed a potential big foot

watching him and mireya at base camp,

the duo continued to track
the creature's movement

in the direction they
discovered the footprint

just seven hours ago.

It's definitely some tough terrain.

I think these things
are hard to keep up with,

and then they can move a lot swifter.

They know this terrain.

But I do too,

and I'm going after it.

If I find some more tracks,

it's gonna be totally worth it.

Holy.

There's a lot of trees
here that are stripped.

I was just noticing that, too.

Look how high this one is stripped.

Yeah, both of these.
They go up about what.

I'm 6'2", so...

Yeah, that looks like
it's about 13 feet high.

Cedar bark.

I know that it's very useful in survival.

I mean, cedar...

Can be made into cordage.

It can be made to take
a spark for fire starters.

It's pretty useful stuff.

- I mean...
- Obviously, there's a lot we don't know

about these creatures, and
they may have a use for it.

Very interesting.

All right, let's keep pushing,

since we're hot on the trail of something.

That's really an odd space, isn't it?

I've never seen anything like that.

Something with thumbs,
I know, made that.

Russell uses his parabolic
mic and thermal camera

to monitor the area where
he found strange branch rings,

in hope that whatever may have
made those rings might return.

I want to keep this
thing in the line of sight.

Whatever made those
might be coming back...

And I don't want to miss that.

I want to see if we see anything

with the thermal imaging,

but I also want to listen to the night.

Oftentimes, you'll
listen to what sounds like

a completely quiet forest,

but if you have a parabolic mic...

There's so much going
on that we can't hear.

Holy crap.

Did you hear that?

If he's hearing it...

It's much closer than you think.

That gave me goosebumps.

It almost sounded like a howl.

Nothing.

We all know that for hundreds of years,

these stories have been talked about.

This mythical creature.

And for generations,

these new researchers
have been inspired

by somebody long before them.

And my inspiration was Bob gimlin.

- Long time no see, Bob.

That iconic footage that Roger
Patterson and Bob gimlin got in 1967

was something that
pushed us all forward.

To have you checking out things

that you don't really understand,

I'm proud of you.

We have so much new technology,

so much the old experience
that you can draw from.

We're gonna have that evidence
that puts everybody on their heels.

You mean the world to me,

and you've been such an
inspiration for my research.

And I hope that I can continue
the research and make you proud.

That means a powerful lot to me.

What the hell was that?

That was the most weird sound.

It was almost like... Almost a tree
knock, but almost a woodpecker.

But it was different tones.

It was just strange.

Last night, when I
approached the culvert,

I heard a sound of a rock
being thrown into the water.

I believe that to be a signal
to anything else in the area

that there was danger nearby

or warning others that we
were approaching that area.

Tonight, I'm hearing a sound that
I've never heard in the forest before.

If they use a rock as a form of signaling,

then it's not a leap to think
that they're not using this...

Clicking or chatter also
as a form of signaling.

And I can't decide whether

I think it's warning the
others that were close by...

Or if it's directed at me to
maybe tell me to get away.

Let's just cover this hillside,

work our way back and forth
until we find some answers.

because we've got kind of a...

After following the trail
of the potential big foot

all day and into the night,

mireya and biko have circled
back close to their base camp.

in case anything comes
from... from that side.

- Sounds great.

- And I'll use the thermal in my backpack.

Since this morning, we've
been following the trail

of whatever it is that's bold enough

to come through our
camp and disturb our tents.

The interesting thing is, is
that by following that trail,

it's brought us right
back to our base camp.

Whatever this thing is,
it's clearly interested in us.

I like right here.

I think this is a good
spot for me to set up.

I've got a little bit of high ground
here where I can see both tents.

I've got some good cover...

So I can remain hidden.

If something was watching
us from behind a tree stump,

then I want to use that same tactic.

It's already come into
our camp once before,

so I think there's a good chance

that if we're patient, it'll
come back here again.

Are you seeing anything on
your night vision binoculars?

Nothing to report over here.

Just the woods seem
really quiet, you know,

which, often happens when
there's a big predator around.

Yeah. Sorry, something caught my eye.

That's weird.

What is that?

There's a heat signature
here, and it's not moving.

I'm aiming my thermal
camera into the dense forest,

but I've adjusted the temperatures

so that anything like leaves
and branches will be cooler,

but a mammal with a hot body
temperature will show up white hot.

That way, I'll clearly see anything
moving between these trees.

I mean, there's times that
you get an animal on these...

And they're completely still.

They could be just sleeping,

and then suddenly they
get up and walk away, but

I can't...

Really see a definitive shape to this.

It's hard to say...

What that might be.

It's definitely lighting up
the screen, though, isn't it?

I mean, there's just no sound right now,

and the woods are just quiet.
