some huge shots

inside the octagon,
UFC star Kenny Florian.

drawing to a close,

iconic robots ever built

Warhead's spinning head
cracked in half like a walnut.

tonight it's facing Whiplash,

who got its butt whipped
in its last fight.

There's gonna be
a lot of frustration

getting worked out in that one.

We'll see which one
of these bots on the bubble

put together a win in our first
make-or-break fight

of the night.

CHRIS: There's Simon Scott
and Ian Lewis of Warhead,

giving that dino head
a rub for good luck.

KENNY: Yeah, they were forced
to use that dino head

after their spinner
broke in half.

Against a fast bot
with a lifting arm here,

they might've
wanted that spinner.

Warhead can't self-right
in this configuration.

In the blue square, this bot
fights at the speed of sound

and loves to go out and flay.

It will rip, rip,
and send you on a trip

straight to the trash,

it's Whiplash!

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS: Here's Whiplash
and the Vasquez family.

They're 2 and 1, led by
the driver of Matty Vasquez.

Kenny, it's been amazing
to see this kid's rise

over the course of the year.

KENNY: He's been incredible,
putting on a showcase

even taking it to Tombstone
in their last fight.

If you're not rooting
for this kid by now,

you haven't been
paying attention.

We're gonna just take it to 'em.

We're gonna go around
and hit him from behind

and push him into the arena
let the arena wreck him.

Hopefully, we'll win in
a spectacular fashion,

which will give
us that much more strength

to get into the sweet 16.

If you pull this off, does that
secure you a top 16 spot?

I'm not sure.
I think it could be close,

'cause we haven't
had a knockout yet.

So we could be in the running.

We could just
sneak in on a spot.

We got the dinosaur
head back on,

dental work done
for this one, Kenny.

KENNY: Yeah, they've added
rubber tire pieces

into the mouth to protect
their flamethrower

from Whiplash's spinner.

They're hoping to catch
Whiplash with that dino head,

and burn them up.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Red team, ready.

[CROWD CHEERS]

Blue team, ready.

Go get him.

CHRIS:
So here we go.

The winner thinks
it has a great shot

at punching its ticket
to be in the top 16.

Let the battle
for a playoff birth begin,

and the fiery dragon
is out chasing Whiplash,

now Whiplash engages,

and Warhead introduces him
to that flamethrower.

KENNY: Whiplash wants nothing
to do with those flames,

now trying to get around
the back side of Warhead.

CHRIS: Matt Vasquez,
is a driving prodigy.

And there he uses leverage
to put Warhead

into the pulverizer.

KENNY: My goodness.

CHRIS:
Whiplash just so fast, Kenny.

Warhead back in pursuit,
looking to find a way

to clamp down on Whiplash.

KENNY: But look at the power
there from Whiplash.

CHRIS: Matt Vasquez
pushing that big dinosaur

around the box with ease.

Now, something to keep
your eye on

is that vertical
disc spinner of Whiplash.

So potent if it can get
close enough to Warhead.

Once again,
the floor prevents Whiplash.

Uh-oh. Oh!

KENNY: He's completely
underneath Warhead.

Let's see if he can flip 'em.

CHRIS: And this is right
in front of the driver's box.

KENNY: Warhead has to be careful
to not get flipped.

It cannot self-right
if it gets flipped.

CHRIS: Uh-oh, and now
it's Warhead on the attack.

He can chomp down on Whiplash.

Matt Vasquez gives him a jab,

and tiptoes his way
out of there.

KENNY: Whiplash is such
a vertical bot, Chris.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, ooh, once again--

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: And takes Warhead

into the screws,

over on its side.

Oh, and Warhead gets back up.

KENNY: Warhead just so big
and bulky, Chris,

it's making it hard
for Whiplash to put him away.

Look at this.
CHRIS: Oh, no!

Warhead is on its head.
Can it self-right?

Does the British team
have it in it?

KENNY: Warhead does not have
a self-righting mechanism.

Whiplash just needs
to back up now.

CHRIS: But it looks like
Matt Vasquez wants more.

Oh, look at that
vertical spinner

getting inside the grill
of the T-Rex.

KENNY: But look at this.
CHRIS: Uh-oh.

Whiplash is smoking.

Matt Vasquez,
what are you doing?

Warhead is getting counted out.

Oh, is he gonna get back over?

We've seen Warhead do some

spectacular things
in this very box.

Will we see one more, Kenny?

Knockout!

CHRIS: That is it!
Yeah!

CHRIS: A third knockout
this season by Whiplash.

And take that spin perhaps
all the way into the top 16.

JESSICA:
Matt, come on over.

You guys, excellent job.

this season, Matt.

Yeah, yeah,
it was a good one.

It was a really fun fight.

They almost grabbed us a few
times, which was kind of scary.

It was sort of similar
to the Hypothermia fight,

our first one.

But, I mean, once we got
to the side a few times

and got 'em in the screws
and got 'em on the wall,

I got comfortable
and started going at it.

What was your guys' strategy
going into this match?

Go around the back and side,
the jaws.

You just never know
what they can do.

And the fire-- I mean,
our arms are plastic.

We have, you know,
Kevlar belts in there.

A lot of electronics
to burn up.

If he grabbed us and started
going with the flame,

we could get cooked, literally.

So we had a plan,
he ex*cuted it perfectly,

and we came out on top,
that was awesome.

We needed to mop,
literally mop the arena

with Warhead,
and we did.

Well, it's been a family affair.
A terrific story.

They have a good record.

They might be able
to squeeze in there, but again,

there's a lot of other bots
that are three and one as well.

So we just beat Warhead,

and it was stressful,

because rebuilding Whiplash
was a complete thrash.

KENNY:

Bot parts flying everywhere,

MAN:
We fought Tombstone.

He literally tore off
the front corner of our robot.

CHRIS:
It's over, because Whiplash
is in two different parts.

But thank God
for Lincoln welding.

They are the unheralded heroes
of this thing.

While we were doing
one thing in here,

they were out there welding
parts of the chassis together.

It was a lifesaver.

There's lot of fights.

There's a lot of awesome robots
out here.

Incredibly powerful and deadly.

So we need to conserve
our robot.

We blow up,
have to replace everything,

every fight, we'll do it.

CHRIS:

Mohawk looks to get that
flaming clamper into Reality

and their powerhouse
drum spinner.

And here's Team Mohawk,

showing off some of those moves

from their amateur
synchronized swimming team.

Coming into this fight
with an 0 and 2 record,

they're hoping to avoid
a season sweep here tonight.

FARUQ:
In the blue square,

this bot won't be
on the Smash-elor

or America's Next Top Bottle,

it's fast and loud,

and will make you
naked and afraid.

It just might be
the deadliest catch.

Throw away the scripts,

it's time for... Reality!

CHRIS:
There's Tim Bouwens and Reality

at 1 and 2 on the year,
representing the Netherlands

which is home
to over 1100 windmills.

They're hoping
to blow away Mohawk

with their drum spinner tonight.

Gonna try to spin up
as fast as possible.

Just try to hit his sides,
flip him over,

take out his wheels,
just make it quick.

I'm really hoping to warp them
up a little bit, warp Reality.

My goal is to really
just out-drive them.

Their sides are kind of
my main target at the moment.

I can then use the arena,

just like throw 'em
into the wall,

throw 'em through the saws,
the hammers.

It's our last match.
We've lost our prior two.

And, you know,
we really got to win this one.

Really got to send out Mohawk
with a blaze of glory.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

CHRIS:
Kenny, Mohawk is 0 and 2.

Are they just fighting
for pride at this point?

KENNY: Listen, they won't make
the tournament,

but BattleBots is the greatest

robot-fighting competition
in the world,

you can get a win here,

it's a badge of honor.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

Quick out of the gate
was Mohawk.

Oh! And taking a shot
courtesy of Reality.

KENNY:
Chris, that shot ripped up
the front of Mohawk's wedge.

That spells big trouble
for Mohawk.

They're gonna have a tough time
getting underneath Reality now.

CHRIS: Reality backs off.
Mohawk in pursuit.

And another shot.
Look at that.

KENNY:
That thing is tearing apart
that front wedge of Mohawk.

Not smart of Mohawk
to go straight at that weapon.

CHRIS:
And another shot.

Just keeps getting
popped in the nose.

KENNY: If you notice,
Reality has to reset.

A lot of times
they'll kind of run away

from Mohawk a little bit

and try to get get
that primary weapon going again.

CHRIS: Mohawk, searching
for a plan B here.

KENNY: Mohawk, chasing down,
attacked from behind.

He got underneath there.
And Reality can take him.

Ooh, another head-on collision.

CHRIS: I mean, Mohawk cannot
win a fight this way, Kenny.

KENNY: No, he's going
basically kamikaze-style.

He needs to attack the side.

I mean, the flaming hair
is awesome,

but man, what about
the rest of the face?

The nose is bent.

The ears might be
coming off too.

It's like Mr. Potato Head
in the battle box.

KENNY:
Yeah, no, he took a risk

going head-on into
that front spinner there.

[INDISTINCT CHATTERING]

CHRIS: So the Dutch team
clearly ahead on points here.

They need to just figure out
a way to finish the job.

But Mohawk not giving up
without a fight.

KENNY:
Mohawk now, oh, almost able

to get to the side there, Chris.

CHRIS: Here comes Reality again.
Oh, and he whiffed.

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: But not that time.

Almost got Mohawk over.

More than halfway
through this round,

somehow, Mohawk holding on.

Its beak looks destroyed.

Its wedged like a car wreck.

KENNY: Couple of little jabs,

courtesy of Reality
there to the side.

Mohawk just can't get
underneath,

and it was gonna be
difficult before,

but now with that wedge
all torn up like that,

peeled back, it's gonna be
that much more difficult.

CHRIS:
Oh, yeah, Reality's going

all the way
for the peel back in front.

KENNY: Reality can afford
to go head-on with Mohawk.

Mohawk cannot.

CHRIS: Under a minute to go.

Mohawk's gotta start
doing something

in the eyes of the judges,

or this is gonna be
an ugly decision.

Reality just has to stay clear
of the k*ll saws in the floor.

Got to be more-- Oh!

He flipped Mohawk!

I don't think
Mohawk's gonna have

that self-righting mechanism
going at all.

Roll over, roll over.

CHRIS: We heard Reality
say it wants a knockout.

It may have just gotten it.

Ten...
CHRIS: Here comes the countdown.

Mohawk is upside down,
frozen to the floor.

And reality is setting in
for Max Bales.

...two, one.

That's a knockout.
[BUZZER]

CHRIS: And the reality is,
Mohawk is dead.

Kenny, Reality, from the onset,

had a game plan,
and it was just to go head-on,

and it did some serious damage.

KENNY: Yeah, it was that shot
right there.

Once that wedge was compromised,

it was all Reality,
all the time.

They're essentially able
to pick their shots from there.

Attacking the side,
attacking the back.

And they finally got
the knockout blow right here,

getting Mohawk on their head
and ending the fight.

CHRIS: So Reality finishes
at 2 and 2.

Kenny, where do they stand now?

KENNY: Well,
they're in a tough position.

You don't know
how the selection committee

is going to view
that 2 and 2 record.

All they can do now is wait.

So Kenny,
let's start with Andrea Suarez.

She came into the competition

with the same top hat
from years past,

but it was a completely
redesigned Witch Doctor

from what we saw in 2016.

KENNY:
That's right, and as a result,

I think team Witch Doctor
may have experienced

some growing pains.

They lost their first fight
of the year versus Yeti,

but have since had
two bounce-back wins,

one epic escape from the screws,

and now, they're on the verge
of the top 16.

CHRIS:
Standing in their way tonight

is Charles Guan, and Overhaul,

who in 1 and 2 isn't likely
to make the top 16,

but that doesn't mean Charles
won't be gunning for a win here.

KENNY:
Absolutely, Chris, Charles Guan

is a guy who really believes
in his bot, his team.

He thinks Overhaul
is the real deal,

and every fight,
no matter his record,

is just another chance
to prove that.

Will Overhaul

Charles Guan and Overhaul,

their year hasn't gone
exactly as planned.

But, hey, they've got spirit,
how about you?

FARUQ:
In the blue square,

break out your cauldron

for a special potion,

an eye of bot,

a pinch of steel,

rubber from a burned-up wheel.

It's Witch Doctor!

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS:
Andrea Suarez and Witch Doctor.

Kenny, they're 2 and 1,
but are they real?

KENNY:
Well, we're about to find out.

This is a team that's considered

to be a among
the BattleBots elite,[/i]

but if they don't handle
business here,

they'll be watching
the tournament from home.

So we're at 2 and 1
right now.

Our one loss was against Yeti,
our very first fight.

It looks like we have
all those bugs worked out,

but this is definitely
a really pivotal fight for us.

Charles's a great driver,
he's really fast,

but we're coming after him.

From my past matches,
I've actually increased

the speed of the actuator.

So my goal now
isn't getting pinch damage

so much as just being able
to close it quickly on someone.

I'm at one win and two losses
right now.

I think I'm definitely at the
"live free or die hard" point,

so I'm gonna try and stay
on Witch Doctor just nonstop.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS:
All right, Kenny, Charles Guan

is not going down
without a fight.

KENNY:
That's right, he's gonna need

to use that lifter
and get under Witch Doctor.

But in order to do that,
he's gonna have to take

a few shots from
Witch Doctor's spinner.

We'll see how he holds up.

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

Both bots touching gloves
in the middle,

Overhaul with an early chance
for a lift.

Little pushing and shoving
in the first 10 seconds.

KENNY:
Witch Doctor trying

to get around
to the side of Overhaul.

There goes Overhaul!

CHRIS: And starting to take out
pieces of Overhaul

all the way up into the
lighting grid of the battle box.

KENNY: Once that drum spinner
gets going, Chris,

it is brutally effective.

CHRIS: And that was a full flip
by Overhaul.

KENNY: Took off that side armor
of Overhaul immediately.

CHRIS: It's a great start
from Witch Doctor.

Now Charles on the attack.

Let's see if Witch Doctor
can take out

the left side of the armor.

KENNY: Overhaul already having
drive issues here,

I think that right side
got pretty messed up.

CHRIS:
And Kenny, really,

driving is the only way

that Overhaul can win this.

He's got to be a down and dirty
fight with a lot of grappling.

KENNY:
Well, down and dirty's right.
Just look at Witch Doctor here.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, here comes Witch Doctor

taking Overhaul on a nice ride.

Oh, no, can Overhaul even move?

KENNY: I think Overhaul
has lost power here.

CHRIS:
The referee asking for some

sort of movement
from Charles Guan and Overhaul.

Show me you got
something.

It's moving a few nanometers.
Does that count?

Ten...
CHRIS: It's not happening.

So he's getting counted out.

Witch Doctor with an impressive
display of power, of force,

and of course, voodoo, magic.

...one, knockout!

CHRIS:
Andrea Suarez and Witch Doctor

with a second
consecutive knockout.

Is that enough to boost them
into the top 16?

This was all Witch Doctor
all the time, Kenny.

KENNY:
Listen, Witch Doctor

had so much more speed,
that primary weapon,

is way more dangerous
than anything

that Overhaul
was playing with.

They were able to get
underneath Overhaul,

and from there
it was all Witch Doctor.

They needed a win,

but they needed
to do it impressively.

They got just that.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS:
Kenny, you heard Andrea Suarez,

Witch Doctor,
say it wasn't good enough

for us to jut get a win,
we had to dominate and impress.

Did they do enough?

In my opinion,
they did,

and it was just what
the Witch Doctor ordered.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS & KENNY:
Oh!

CHRIS: While the winners have
had their chance to celebrate...

We know what it takes
to win this thing.

...we're gonna take you
into the pits

to see what it's like
to have your beloved robot

smashed into smithereens.

This is another edition
of the Botopsy Report.

KENNY:
Evident there on the tread--

Oh, look at that!
That's not good.

CHRIS:
Whoa, that tread is on its own.

KENNY: One tread going one way,
Red Devil going another.

It's possessed.
CHRIS: Unbelievable.

I don't think
we've ever seen this.

[BUZZER]

So we're coming out
of our fight with Valkyrie.

Valkyrie ended up ripping
one of our treat pods off,

but we kept running.

The robot's actually,

technically three robots
bolted together.

Each tread pod
and the main body,

each have its own little brain,

so we're able
to control them independently.

Red Devil never dies.
We always goes to full three.

It looks really bad,

but we can come back from it.

I'm really happy we
didn't lose our saw arm.

That's our only saw.
We have two spares.

We already blew through one,
so this is the last one.

Just hold the tread pod.

I just want
to hold the body.

Right now, we're gonna get it
back together.

We might have
to Frankenstein some stuff.

We've got a spare body,
we've got spare treads,

so a couple hours
we got a pro pit crew,

we'll get it back
into fighting shape,

and who knows what
Red Devil is gonna look like

in the next matchup.

It might be something
out of your nightmare.

CHRIS: Yes!
KENNY: Oh!

CHRIS: Yeah, that's right,
it's limping right now.

Oh, Minotaur taking
full advantage.

KENNY:
Oh!

CHRIS:
Is there another one coming?

Yes, there is. And another.

[BUZZER]

MAN: Well, we just lost
our match with Minotaur.

We've had to do
a lot of repairs.

It's been rough on us, we're
all pretty wrecked physically.

We're on our second
frame already,

and first frame took
so much damage from our fights,

we had to transfer
all the components

over to the second frame.

Well, we've got chunks taken out

of both wheels on this side.

We're gonna have to tear it down

and see if we could even
get it repaired.

We really haven't been able
to assess all the damages.

Something's up
with this one.

Well, we took a hit
over here.

This wheel's gone.

MAN: Gearbox is probably okay,
Black Max is gone.

Something going on here.
Can't tell.

We've replaced several speed
controllers that we blew up,

and Alan has rebuilt
the fire system three,

four times already.

And I think we'll get away

with not having to rebuild
the whole thing again,

but we're not sure yet.

That's fixable.

MAN: Not bad for three minutes
with Minotaur.

No, I'll take it.

We just have a little bit more
to do with our machine,

and we'll get there.

Get your tray out.
All right.

We'll get the batteries out.

We're gonna keep going
until we can't.

Physically or parts-wise.

CHRIS & KENNY:
Oh!

CHRIS: Bombshell already
took a header.

KENNY:
Oh! What a hit.

CHRIS: Bombshell,
he's got nowhere to hide.

Bite Force
with a little foreplay.

Oh, delivered another shot
to Bombshell.

KENNY:
Oh!

CHRIS:
Flipping out of the arena!

MAN: We just lost our fourth
fight here with Bombshell.

Bite Force was able
to really stay on top of us,

and eventually got
that real clean shot

that sent us over the wall.

At this point,
we probably fit the spare back.

We got to get some of those
sheared bolt heads

out of the center rail so we
can get the top armor back on.

Obviously new,
replace the ledge again.

Probably put the old one
back on.

It's still in good shape.

Yeah, so unless we've lost
some of the more

vital electronic
components in there,

we got spares
for everything at this point.

We got two motors worth of
magnets, so we can make it work.

Yeah, looks like
this hit up here

might've knocked
some of the frame rail.

Yeah, that was a piece
behind the motor.

So it got
knocked up inside.

Some wiring came loose.

The damage
isn't really that bad.

It's stuff we can fix
pretty quickly.

All right, well,
we know what we need to do.

Let's pop the batteries out,
get those on charge

so they're topped up,
and start wrenching.

So we'll basically have
a brand-new bot.

It's got battle scars,
we're gonna throw on the wedge

we've been using earlier
in the tournament.

But it's in great shape.

We've gotta replace, probably,
part of our weapon motor,

but we've got the parts
to do that just fine.

So she'll be about as good
as it could be.

CHRIS:
Oh! Witch Doctor smells blood!

KENNY: Oh, that tire's
about to get chewed up.

CHRIS: Whoa, there it goes.
Oh, look at that.

Break me off a piece
of that KitKat bar.

Witch Doctor
just split Ultimo apart.

Oh!

It's falling apart!
[BUZZER]

MAN: Ultimo just got
whacked in half

against Witch Doctor.

Like literally whacked in half.

So the frame
is no longer welded.

We have cross tubes
that hold all the weapons on,

and they are no longer attached.

There's a giant chunk

out of this entire side
over here that's really bad.

So we got to get that
to the welder.

But it's a matter of assessing
how much damage we have.

The primary thing is getting
all the electrical out,

getting the weapon off
so we can get it to the welder

as fast as possible.

You know what
I'm most upset about?

The rocket.

We did crack a rocket mount,
so I don't know.

Maybe some superglue
or something,

but we're gonna have
to try and figure that one out.

If the rockets
would have launched,

it would have all
been fine.

We'll get better.
We'll be back strong.

Get as close to 100 percent.

The welder just has to fix it.

CHRIS: It is time now
for our main event.

Minotaur checking
in at 2 and 1

in a must-win situation.

It hasn't been easy
for this squad.

KENNY:
Well, their only loss

was against none other
than Tombstone,

so no shame in that,
but they need a win here

to lock up one of the top seeds
in the tournament.

CHRIS:
And tonight, it's no easy task,

going against
Jerry Clark and Subzero.

They're 1 and 2 on the year,

but they've had
some really tough fights.

KENNY: They have,
but Subzero is built

to take a lot of hits,

which it'll have to do
against Minotaur

with those armored sides
and covered wheels,

Subzero will want
to outlast Minotaur's weapon,

get underneath and try to toss
Minotaur out of the box.

This is gonna be a good one.
Let's take you inside the box.

[CROWD CHEERS]

Ladies and gentlemen,
are you ready?

[CROWD CHEERS]

It's time for tonight's
main event.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS: Kenny, Subzero
was telling us earlier,

they've had eight heavyweight
fights at BattleBots

with this bot,

and they've never
been knocked out.

KENNY:
Well, that's what we were
talking about earlier Chris.

That armor is just so strong.

And after every fight,
this team has gone back

into the pits,
and rebuilt Subzero

to be bigger
and stronger than before.

They know they're facing
one of the top dogs,

and I'm sure they're ready.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS: Here he comes,
the bot from Brazil, Minotaur.

A 2016 semifinalist.

It hasn't gone as smoothly
this time around,

but still, their ultimate goal
is within reach.

KENNY: Very passionate
and excited Brazilian team,

Daniel Freitas, one of the
best drivers we've ever seen.

[CROWD CHEERS]

FARUQ:
In the red square,

this bot is like Tupperware,

because he's about
to turn you into leftovers.

Who left the fridge open?

It's Subzero!

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS:
There we see Subzero.

How have they prepared
for this fight?

KENNY: Well, they've
strengthened their lifter,

adding a titanium plate
to the front there.

They believe this is gonna
come down to driving.

The problem is,
they're facing Daniel Freitas.

In the blue square,
he's a bot-casting legend.

They should call
it Oprah Spin-frey.

You get a k*ll,
you get a k*ll, you get a k*ll!

Everybody gets a k*ll!

It's Minotaur!

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS: Here's Minotaur,
all the way from Brazil.

Kenny, that is one beat-up bot.

KENNY: Well, Marco told us
that he prefers

to use parts from Minotaur
that are battle-tested

over brand-new pieces.

It may not look pretty,

but he is the expert
in breaking metal, after all.

We reinforced the weapon,
some better bearings.

We're gonna be speeding up
faster today.

And hopefully
going for the knockout.

The rebuilds we've been doing
is actually improving the robot.

It's actually in the best
condition it's ever been.

So I really think
we could do well

and get in the 16 if we do win.

[CROWD CHEERS]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS: A ton on the line tonight
for Minotaur.

And you heard Marco, Kenny.
They're going for the knockout.

KENNY:
Yeah, they've been turning down

the speed of their drum
for more control,

but they have turned it
all the way up here tonight

for maximum damage.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Red team, ready.

[CROWD CHEERS]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Blue team, ready.

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

Subzero moves into the center
of the box,

approaching Minotaur cautiously.

And now, the drone Spitfire
looking to party.

KENNY: Minotaur whips around
to the back.

Oh!
CHRIS: On the side!

Uh-oh.

Oh, that's a pin of Subzero.

He's up against the screws.

And Daniel Freitas and Minotaur
just chewing away at that armor.

KENNY: Minotaur clearly
on a mission here, Chris.

This could get ugly.
Buckle up.

CHRIS:
Subzero trying to right himself.

Can it flip itself back over?

KENNY: Oh! Huge hit there
by Minotaur.

Attack the flipper.

CHRIS: He's gotta get out
of there, Kenny. Whoa!

KENNY: Subzero trying
to self-right, and he's there.

CHRIS: It does, with an assist
from the Brazilians.

KENNY:
Subzero needs to shake it off

and catch a breath.

Oh, he just missed Minotaur
with that flip.

CHRIS:
Flipped himself in the air.

Oh!

He popped Subzero's top
like a beer can!

The mountains are blue, Kenny!

[KENNY LAUGHS]

Parts all over the battle box.

Oh!

Hold on, the flipper
has just been bent back.

That beak ain't gonna work.

KENNY: Yeah, that flipper
on Subzero is mangled, Chris.

Any chance they had of getting
under Minotaur is now gone.

CHRIS: Subzero's been
incredibly durable this year,

but it has never
faced a test like this.

KENNY:
Oh! Huge hit.

CHRIS: Subzero in dire straits
right now,

because it does not have
its primary weapon,

which is that flipper.

But what's going on, though,
with Minotaur, Kenny?

I can't hear that jet engine,

as an eerie silence
falls over the box.

Whoa!

As Minotaur makes impact
yet again.

KENNY: Yeah, and that
drum spinner has been shut down,

I don't know if it's been
shut down

or no longer functional
for Minotaur.

CHRIS:
No, it's spinning back up.

KENNY: He's speeding it up.
There it goes.

CHRIS: It was just taking
a breather, that's all, Kenny.

It was a union break.
KENNY: How about Spitfire

trying to come up the top
of Minotaur and burn him up.

CHRIS:
Oh, here we go.

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: Oh, no!

Another huge shot.

Look at that mashed-up,
rocky-looking face of Subzero.

It's a face only a mother
could love.

Oh!

KENNY:
Oh, my goodness!

CHRIS:
Oh, right in front of us.

Oh!
Whoa!

He's trying to hit us.

Minotaur's trying to hit us.

CHRIS: Come on,
bring it on, bring it on!

I got a tough guy right here.

[KENNY LAUGHS]

Look at this.

KENNY: Subzero really is
as tough as they say, Chris.

I can't believe
this bot's still moving.

CHRIS:
Approaching 30 seconds to go.

Minotaur going in for the k*ll.

Can Subzero even move
at this point?

Oh, it's trying.
KENNY: Oh!

CHRIS: It can move

KENNY: Yes.

CHRIS:
Now it's gonna be in trouble.

Might we be seeing the
first-ever knockout of Subzero

in the heavyweight division
in BattleBots?

It's being counted out.

Here it goes.

[BUZZER]

CHRIS: Minotaur
popping a wheelie, and why not?

As it will likely ride
into the top 16.

Yeah!

CHRIS: Minotaur just putting
a beating on Subzero

from the first few seconds,
yeah, Kenny.

KENNY: Yeah, absolutely
brilliant driving yet again

from Daniel Freitas,

Once they were able
to flip Subzero,

you could just see,
they were gonna take

full advantage of that,
and hit as often as possible.

CHRIS: And cranking up the
energy on that drum spinner.

Obviously,
a great strategic move.

KENNY: Yeah, absolutely,
and they needed it, you know.

Subzero is very well built,
very durable.

But once they chewed up
that lifter, Chris,

it was all Minotaur.

CHRIS: And remember,
prior to this fight,

Subzero had never
been knocked out.

Minotaur just pulled it off.

[CROWD CHEERS]

That's the Minotaur
we know and love.

KENNY: Absolutely.
They knew they had to come out

and impress
to lock up a top seed.

And I definitely
think they did that.

Also, Whiplash,
taking down Warhead,

I'd imagine, we'll see them
in the tournament.

CHRIS:
And for the rest of the bots,

we'll just have to wait and see

what the selection committee
decides.
