Here with a man
who's probably taken

a few rib shots over the years.

From the UFC world,
Kenny Florian.

Chris, first of all,
don't hurt your hand by the way.

My ribs are fine, it's
the head I'm most worried about.

Don't worry pal,
you're doing just fine.

However, I gotta warn you.

It's a whole new
fight card format.

Huge fights every night.

Mind-blowing battles.

Maybe even get
your headgear ready.

We've got 10 more bots kicking
off their season tonight.

All looking to build
a body of work strong enough

to earn an invitation
to our post-season tournament,

where we will crown the 2018
BattleBots world champion.[/i]

All right, let's get to it.

We've got another world-class
fight card for you tonight.

Including,
a jaw-dropping main event

with two of the most feared
bots in the entire game.

Witch Doctor,
facing an avalanche of fury,

the 2016 surprise
semifinalist, Yeti.

KENNY:
Why is this
a special match-up?

Because, both bots feature
devastating vertical spinners

capable of delivering
spectacular knockouts.

And both of these weapons
are extremely reliable.

They've proven that they can

take their opponents apart
again and again.

And tonight, they turn their
aggression on each other.

CHRIS:
We've got
an international affair

with Captain Shrederator
from the U.S.

versus End Game
from New Zealand.

KENNY:
Jack Barker of End Game,

already has nine international
titles to his name.

He makes his BattleBots [/i]
debut here tonight.

CHRIS:
We have a punishing
vertical spinner

versus a weaponized saw,
in Brutus v. Red Devil.

And Dutch newcomer, Petunia,

is bringing a crusher
with 10 tons of force

to take on the deadly
double blades of Rotator.

KENNY:
First up,
let's get to it.

You got the bot with an internal
combustion engine, Icewave.

It sounds like a fleet
of Black Hawk helicopters

when it's revved up.

And my ears are still ringing
from standing next to it.

That blade is 43 pounds,
and it spins at 12,000 RPM

when it's at full speed.

Imagine you're
the young man facing it,

Jack Tweedy, who is
stepping into the battle box

for the first time right now.

His bot, Vanquish, has
a solid steel lifting wedge

that weighs over 60 pounds.

He'll be trying
to absorb that blade,

get under Icewave
and tip him over.

Let's see what Icewave
had to say about that.

Here's Faruq
with the introductions.

Marc DeVidts
the builder of Icewave,

he dropped out of college
and is now co-founder

of his own robotics company.

He's hoping to school
Vanquish here tonight.

In the blue square,
from the U.K.,

if he was a serial k*ller
he'd be Jack the Flipper.

And he's about bust you
in your Sherlock dome.

Make some noise for Vanquish.

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
The youngest captain
in the entire field.


of Vanquish.

Jack admitted
he's a little nervous.

Let's see if he can
handle the jitters.

[CROWD CHEERING]

My strategy against Icewave
is constant aggression.

I need to be on them
from the start of the fight

and not let them get up to speed

'cause that's when
they're the most stable

that they can be.

Do not let them spin up
and hopefully tip them over.

The biggest problem
against Vanquish

is that he's got
a big plow on the front

that's really thick steal.

So if we glance off of it,
it's gonna be a problem.

we're gonna flip over.

We gotta go around the back
and hit 'em from there.

Icewave is not invertible,
so we have to be

extremely careful
not to get ourselves flipped.

We installed
a shorter blade because

that one is better balanced,

and it will keep us
more stable for this fight.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
For those of you
that need a refresher,

each battle consists of
a single three-minute bout.

The goal is pretty simple,

to completely destroy
or disable your opponent.

If you can't do that,
a panel of judges

will declare a victor.

And it's not just their opponent
they'll have to worry about.

The box itself
is alive with hazards.

Screws, hammers controlled
by the other team,

and k*ll saws that become active

in the final minute
of the fight.

ROBOT:
Red team, ready?

[CROWD CHEERING]

Blue team, ready?

[CROWD CHEERING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:

[TIMER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

Vanquish quick
out of the blocks.

Oh, serious shot from Icewave.

Vanquish looking for more.

KENNY:
Chris, that weight is holding up
pretty well so far.

CHRIS:
Oh, Icewave
got him on the side.

Vanquish is hurt.

And now Icewave has some space
to get that blade cranking.

KENNY:
Look out,
Mark's throttling it up,

he's gonna try
to finish him right here.

CHRIS:
Vanquish, you are in trouble.

Oh!
Oh, my God.

KENNY:
That's gonna hurt.

CHRIS:
Grab the milk, Kenny.

He split him like an Oreo.

KENNY:
Is Icewave
gonna hit him again?

Oh, stop, stop, stop.

CHRIS:
Wow.

Holy smokes, did I
just see a magic act

where they cut the lady in half?

[KENNY LAUGHING]

Two, one, knockout.

[TIMER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
All Jack Tweedy
can do is laugh.

He's going back
to the to the Isle of Sheppey

in a body bag.

Actually, make it two.

KENNY:
When Icewave's blade
is spinning at full power,

it's as devastating
as any weapon

that we have here
in BattleBots.

Icewave, just with another
dominate performance.

Taking out Vanquish.
It didn't take long.

I mean, this hit,
you can't recover

from something like that.

Completely separating
the wedge top armor

and two wheels
from the main bot.

CHRIS:
We call this, going halfsies.

KENNY:
Ah, man, that's hard to watch.

CHRIS:
Vanquish, welcome
to the United States.

Have you met Icewave yet?

What a brutal
introduction to BattleBots.

But that's just the way
it goes sometimes.

You know, and Icewave
couldn't have started

his season any better.

Going against an unknown bot,

you expect Icewave to win,
but to split Vanquish apart

in under a minute,
that's the kind of statement win

that will rocket you
up the rankings

and get one step closer
to the top 16.

CHRIS:
So, Icewave moves to 1-0.

Proving, they'll be
a force to be reckoned with.

Coming up later,
a showdown between

two of our fan favorites.

at tonight's main event.

CHRIS: Whoa.
KENNY: Whoa.

KENNY:
It's getting eaten alive
by Yeti right now.

GREGORY:
Last time I showed up
as the last minute alternate

thrown-together bucket of scraps
and made it to the semifinals.

And I took out
a lot of big names.

[♪♪♪]

This time people know the name,

and I think there's
a target on us now.

CHRIS:
Yeti, with
the knockout of Lucky.

Outside of BattleBots, [/i]
what I'm really mostly into

is just outdoor anything.

Hunting, free-diving,
spear fishing.

I like to go swim with sharks

and punch 'em in the face
when they get too close.

The main reason I got back
into BattleBots,

now living in Alaska,
is the winter's boring.

All my good sports
are in the summer,

so I gotta do something
indoors in the winter.

So, BattleBots.

What really brings me
into BattleBots

is just building
and breaking stuff.

And you get to be creative.

And you get to use
some engineering.

Did I mention
you get to break stuff?

CHRIS:
Wow, no, Witch Doctor
is in serious trouble here.

ANDREA:
This year, we're definitely
out to win it

for redemption
after two very crushing losses

the first two seasons.

This time,
everything is different.

Everything is bigger
and better and stronger.

CHRIS:
Red Devil trying
to cut into the top of

Witch Doctor here.

ANDREA:
We learned that our armor
was just not sufficient.

So, we've made a lot
of design changes.

The ribs look really cool,

but they are very
effective armor as well.

The vertical spinner
weighs 47 pounds

and it spins at 4000 RPM.

It should be able to throw
a 250-pound robot

at least five
or six feet in the air.

So, I don't think it's gonna
be a three-minute match,

that's for sure.

I think people really need
to be looking out for Yeti.

We've got a dialed machine now.

We're a well-oiled pit crew.

Even Tombstone
couldn't knock Yeti out.

If you wanna knock Yeti out,

come over and punch me
in the face while I'm driving.

That's the only way
Yeti's gonna stop.

CHRIS:
That will be coming up later

on BattleBots: Fight Night.

Now inside the box,
two bots getting ready

to destroy each other.

Rotator against the bot
with the scariest name

in the entire field, Petunia.

Built by Mischa de Graaf.

And he admitted to us
in our meeting,

he said, "Listen, I'm nervous.

I've never been here
for this big an event."

You can understand
the trepidation.

KENNY:
For sure, Chris.

Petunia is basically
a giant wedge

with a hydraulic clamp
for a weapon.

Now, ideally it's goal
is to push you around,

grab a hold of you
with that clamp

and crush the insides
of your robot.

But in this case,
he's gonna have to get past

those spinning blades
on Rotator.

KENNY:
Yeah, Victor Soto's bot

is what we call
a double spinner.

It's a very unique design,

in that it functions
the exact same way

right-side up or upside down.

That allows him to always
have a blade pointed

at its opponent.

And potentially score
a ton of damage points.

Should be an interesting
clash of styles.

Let's go find out
inside the box.

Faruq, take it away.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Ladies and gentlemen,
are you ready?

It's robot fighting time.

In the red square,

your destruction
is gonna go viral

when this bot catches you
in its death spiral.

It's Rotator.

CHRIS:
Victor Soto designs state of
the art surgical robots.

He'll be looking to put Petunia
on the operating table tonight.

In the blue square,

this bot is all about
flower power.

It puts the maimin'
in the stamen,

the metal in the petal.

Watch out, it's going in
for the chloro-k*ll.

It's Petunia.

CHRIS:
Ah, the team
from the Netherlands.

They flew 5000 miles
to be here tonight.

Representing the Dutch flag
with those jackets.

[♪♪♪]

Our robot is the type of robot
that always has to take

the first hit
before it can be aggressive.

So, I have to be defensive
first before I can be offensive.

And with robots like that,
with those heavy spinners

it's always a risk.

I've heard rumors that they,
I think,

apply about 10 metric tons
of crushing force.

No armor we have is really
gonna withstand that,

so we're gonna go with
our offensive mode

and try to disable them early.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
All right, two bots
looking to set the tone

for the rest of their seasons.

Only one is gonna
come out with the W.

[♪♪♪]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[TIMER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

And here comes Petunia charging.

He's got that beak up looking
to feed Rotator the wedge.

Rotator, two massive
spinning blades,

already up to full speed
taking a chunk out of Petunia.

Right under its beak.

KENNY:
Chris, he ripped open
a panel of armor

off Petunia with that shot.

That was big time.

CHRIS & KENNY:
Oh.

CHRIS:
Kenny, is that wedge

on Petunia feeding Rotator
into its own neck?

KENNY:
Oh!

CHRIS:
There it is again.

KENNY:
Rotator off
to a great start here.

He's already out to a big lead
after scoring those shots.

CHRIS:
Petunia getting pulverized.

Kenny, Rotator
doesn't look right.

KENNY:
You can see a little smoke there
leaking out of Rotator.

If those blades are down,

this could be a huge
opportunity for Petunia.

CHRIS:
Rotator getting
slammed into the screws.

Kenny, Petunia really working
to try to get a hold here.

KENNY:
He's trying to get it up
against the screws first,

like he's trying to do now,
then he's gonna crush him.

CHRIS:
Oh, uh-oh.
He's got a nice hold.

KENNY:
He's got a great hold.

Yeah.

CHRIS:
Can Petunia do some damage here?

Right now,
he's just got the metal.

KENNY:
He'd rather have
something chewy,

like a tire, Chris.

CHRIS:
Okay, he can only
grab hold of it for 10 seconds

then he's gotta release Rotator,
which he does.

Uh-oh, oh.

And Rotator ending up
in the screws

but not a ton of damage.

KENNY:
Oh, a crafty little
spin move by Rotator.

CHRIS:
And now Petunia pushing him
back into the screws.

KENNY:
That's right,
let's see if Petunia

can get some crushing power
down on one of those wheels.

Looks like he's hit metal again.

[SPEAKING IN DUTCH]

CHRIS:
Petunia trying to drag
Rotator around here.

That crushing beak hasn't
been able to do much damage,

but he's staying right
on top of it, Kenny.

KENNY:
It looks like both bots' weapons

might be none factors
at this point.

But honestly,
Petunia is better set up

to win a control fight.

CHRIS:
Oh, Rotator spinning like
a tornado here in the box.

Trying to prevent Petunia
from having anything easy

to grab a hold of.

KENNY:
Very smart strategy by Rotator.

I still have the head
on the scorecard

maybe he's thinking
if he can dance his way

to the end of this fight,
he can get the win here.

CHRIS:
Oh, look out. Petunia hovering
above that tire of Rotator.

Can he get a hold here, maybe
win back some damage points.

Under 50 seconds
to go in the match.

KENNY:
He's getting a hold
of that disk now.

[SPEAKING IN DUTCH]

CHRIS:
That 10 tons of crushing force

hasn't materialized
for Petunia,

but he's been aggressive,

he's winning
the control category.

Can he find a way to win earn

any of those important
damage points?

KENNY & CHRIS:
Oh.

CHRIS:
Petunia gets drilled
by one of the k*ll saws.

That's a harsh reminder
that the box weapons are active.

KENNY:
Petunia with the solid hold
on Rotator here.

CHRIS:
Oh, we got a little smoke
coming out of Rotator.

KENNY:
Chris, I think Petunia
is eyeing those k*ll saws.

Watch out.

Oh-h*, those tires are gone!

CHRIS:
Oh, my goodness.

Petunia taking Rotator
back to shop class

as the clock ticks down.

[TIMER BUZZES]
This one is going to the judges.

Wow, what a fight.

KENNY:
Is that early
onslaught by Rotator

going to be the story
here, Chris?

Or did that finishing move
put Mischa de Graaf of Petunia,

over the top.

CHRIS:
Now the decision
in the hands of the judges.

Derek Young the former

Naomi Kyle, the E-Sports maven,

the legendary roboticist

talking it over.

Rotator owned
the beginning of this fight.

Got some big shots in.

But those horizontal
spinners went down early.

And from there,
it was Petunia's fight to win.

KENNY:
Mischa de Graaf showed us
some incredible control,

definitely winning
that category.

And how about that clamp
towards the end?

Delivering Rotator
right onto the k*ll saws.

One of the best use
the box hazards we've ever seen.

CHRIS:

Uh, they're completely

I was nervous for the fight

and now I'm full
of adrenaline and amazing.

So what was it like
being in BattleBots,

KENNY:
Yeah this bot wants
to box you into the corner,

drop that saw and cut into
the juicy parts of your robot.

And if it can do that,
it's more than capable

of sweeping the damage category.

CHRIS:

big-time sparks in this one.

bringing the satanic panic,

it's the gleamin' demon.

Say your prayers
call in the preacher,

the last words you'll hear

Red Devil
created by Jerome Miles,

who unfortunately,
couldn't make it this season.

So he's handed the bot over
to Canadian all-star team,

lead here by Ravi Baboolal.

In the blue square,
if this was Broadway,

its name would be
Alexander Slam-ilton.

And just like its country
it's young scrappy and hungry

and you're not throwin' away
this bot.

It's Brutus.

CHRIS:
There's MIT graduate Adam Bercu.

He's founded two separate
robotics companies

and has been a member
of multiple BattleBots teams.[/i]

Now looking for a shot
at the title with Brutus.

[CROWD CHEERING]

For my fight against Red Devil,

I've added an extra layer
of top armor

of full titanium skin on top,

which I'll doubt
they'll get through.

Their robot, I think,
is pretty stout from the front.

But really vulnerable
on three other sides.

Those tread pods, while
providing a lot of traction,

are rather delicate.

So I think I can easily hit one
and take the robot out.

So the first battle's pivotal,
it sets the mood.

Ultimately,
what would be great,

is if we could just go in there
with Brutus cut it open,

tear some batteries out
and light the thing on fire.

Then everyone else
is scared, right?

They're all running.

And you get in their heads
a little bit.

You get in their mind space,

and you can freak them out
a little bit.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
There's Red Devil, going with
a big front plow attachment,

replacing the claws
we've seen in the past.

KENNY:
That thing is made
of AR-500 steel.

That's mainly used in
heavy-duty mining operations.

Ravi wants to keep
that plow squared up

and keep Brutus in front of him
at all times.

Clearly wary of that weapon.

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[TIMER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

And here comes Brutus
on the attack.

A glancing blow
to start things off.

Kenny, Brutus told us
that they wouldn't be

firing up their weapon
at full speed. But oh, look.

There's a little smoke
coming out of Brutus.

What's going on?
KENNY: Yes, there is.

Seems like that motor's smoking,
there's a fire in there.

CHRIS:
There's definitely flame
in there as well.

We see some mini sparks.

There's something
going on with Brutus,

who's definitely been
the aggressor so far,

as Ravi Baboolal, trying
to find his driving skills.

Operating Red Devil
for the first time ever.

They're near the screws.

Uh, Red Devil goes
right over Brutus.

KENNY:
Brutus was
able to get underneath.

Now it's Red Devil trying
to get underneath Brutus.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, Kenny, it looks like

the vertical disk spinner
on Brutus

is not functional at this point.
Uh-oh, Red Devil pushing him.

Oh, and look at that saw.

Red Devil just trying
to cut right through Brutus.

Look at that, I feel like
I'm in the dentist chair.

Take your next
appointment please.

KENNY:
Oh, Red Devil, really just
chewing up Brutus right now.

Looks like he's got him
cornered between

those horns on his plow.

Brutus with nowhere
to run here, Chris.

CHRIS:
Oh, Red Devil
just chewing away.

KENNY:
Obviously, that smoke
we saw earlier

means Brutus has some
major motor problems.

We can see only one
wheel working there.

CHRIS:
Oh, Red Devil has no sympathy,
just keeping Brutus close.

I've heard of relationships
having sparks,

but this is ridiculous, Kenny.

KENNY [CHUCKLES]:
Well, it's a great
tactic, Chris,

because whatever power
Brutus has left,

it's quickly diminishing.

In fact, it looks like
that motor is gone, Chris.

It's all burnt out.

REF:
I need to see movement
or I'm gonna count you down.

CHRIS:
But Red Devil's not done.

He didn't even
get to second base.

Ten, nine, eight...

CHRIS:
He wants more of Brutus.

Oh, the humanity,
kicking Brutus while he's down.

Red Devil you evil, evil bot.

One, knockout.
[TIMER BUZZES]

That's it we're done.
Whoo!

CHRIS:
That is it.

Red Devil, take your
celebratory run

as you just cut through
the competition

with a KO of Brutus.

Good, you did good,
you did great.

CHRIS:
Adam came out of the box

clearly trying to be
the aggressor.

But Brutus was just
at Red Devils mercy.

KENNY:
Yeah, clearly Adam doesn't have

that vertical spinner
dialed in yet.

Looks like he blew out
his weapon motors early,

and from there,
it was game time for Red Devil.

CHRIS:
You can see
the relentless sawing,

just chew after chew,
give me more. Yum-yum.

KENNY:
Yeah, I was impressed
with the saw

and with the armor of Brutus.

But in the end,
Red Devil, just too much.

CHRIS:
First time for Ravi Baboolal

in control of Red Devil,
not bad.

Not bad at for a first drive
in the battle box, at all.

That is a big upset.

I think a lot of people
had high hopes for Brutus.

Wasn't the case,
Red Devil all over.

CHRIS:
All right, coming up next.

We got a big bout
coming your way,

a little international flavor.

Representing the U.S. of A.,
it's Captain Shrederator

versus the boys
of New Zealand and End Game.

End Game features
a 50-pound vertical spinner.

Capable of reaching a top speed
of 250 miles per hour.

That's among the biggest
and fastest weapon

in this year's field.

Captain Shrederator is what
we call a full body spinner.

KENNY:
That means the entire bot
is one giant weapon.

This thing is basically
a 120-pound shell

spinning at 152 miles per hour.

There is nothing
to attack on this bot

that can't hurt you.

CHRIS:
End Game is piloted
by 22-year-old Jack Barker,

one of the youngest builders
in the competition.

KENNY:
And this kid is for real.

He already has nine
international titles

to his name.

This may be his first time
at BattleBots,

but believe me,
he's not intimidated.

He's gonna take on
Captain Shrederator.

Who is 100 percent American.

Now, if you have watched
previous years of BattleBots,

you know that Brian Nave
is the guy in charge.

He is not here, so he's
handing over the controls

literally to his son Nicholas.

KENNY:
He's handing over the controls,

and he's handing over the
pressure on Nicholas as well.

I mean, he grow up in a family
where his younger brother,

his first words were,
"battle bots."

this bot's builder is one of
the youngest in the bunch.

He's so young,
he backs a brown bag lunch.

He's new school, that is true,

but he knows his bot
will k*ll you, End Game.

Yeah, we wanna send the message
that we're out there

to k*ll and to k*ll fast.

Hopefully, people will be scared
of us after this first one.

Our strategy for this match
is to just kinda

rush them to the side
of the game

before they can get up to speed.

We know we can spin up
a lot faster than they can.

So hopefully we can hit them
and get them upside down

as soon as this game starts.

You've met my dad, right?

His whole persona is mind games
and intimidation.

So, it's gonna be the same
thing with me, you know.

I think they're relatively new,

not trying to detract from them,

but I think we have
a little bit more experience

when it comes
to fighting robots.

So, not too much to worry about.

Okay, all right, let's go.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
All right, Kenny,
two 20-somethings

from opposite ends of the globe,

about to square off
in the battle box.

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[TIMER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

End Game, Kenny, looks like
he's slow out of the gate.

KENNY:
That wasn't
part of his plan, Chris.

Captain Shrederator is gonna
get up to full speed now.

CHRIS:
Here comes End Game.

CHRIS & KENNY:
Oh.

CHRIS:
Shrederator goes flying, Kenny.

KENNY:
End Game just delivered
a vicious hit,

now Shrederator is a sitting
duck in the corner.

CHRIS:
Wow, the pulverizer
dropped on Shrederator.

End Game staying back a bit.

Can you show me
some sort of movement?

KENNY:
This is a big issue
with full body spinners, Chris.

Clearly, that hit
knocked something loose.

CHRIS:
Oh, yeah, it's got Shrederator
in the corner.

Put baby in the corner.

KENNY:
End Game is just toying

with Captain Shrederator
right now.

CHRIS:
End Game hasn't let Shrederator
fire up to full speed.

He's been all over it
since the first hit.

This Kiwi ain't so cuddly,
Kenny.

You gotta love
his aggressiveness.

Put him out of his misery, Jack.

Oh!

Oh! Let 'em--

KENNY:
I think that's gonna be it.

CHRIS:
Shrederator's not gonna have
any way to flip itself over.

There's the count, Kenny.

End Game has brought his A-game
and I'm a fan.

I don't mind saying
that KO was reminiscent

of a Tombstone hit.

One, knockout.

CHRIS:
Welcome to the big show,
young man.

Jack Barker came,
he saw, he kicked its bot.

KENNY:
It's exactly what
I was saying earlier, Chris,

that's why they
call him "End Game."

He's out there
to finish his opponents

as quickly as possible.

Well, here's that big hit
from End Game.

And again, Shrederator was able
to spin up like he wanted to.

But End Game still got the best
of him when they collided,

and he just wasn't able
to recover.

of really pinning it
up against the box.

Captain Shrederator

to get in this match.

CHRIS:
And then of course,
flipped him over.

And once Captain Shrederator
is on its head,

there's nothing it can do.

So, what was your
strategy going in?

Just to not let Captain
Shrederator speed up enough?

Yeah that was the idea.

We just wanted to get in
there real fast

and try getting them
before they spin up.

We tried to box rush them,

but I think we got high centered
into something on the ground

and we were having
trouble driving.

Then after that,
once we got going, we were fine.

And we hit them a few times.
So you're so young,

are you ever intimidated
by older competitors?

I like the challenge.

You know, I wanna take down
the big people

like Captain Shrederator.

So, yeah, we're happy to be able
to do that in our first fight.

Who else do you
wanna take down?

We'll take Tombstone.
Yeah, you think so, huh?

Crowd, how do you feel
about that?

[CROWD CHEERING]

You sure that's what you want?

I think that Tombstone
should be more worried than us.

Whoa, those are
fighting words.

Kenny, they called
Jack Barker of End Game,

Well, it's loud and clear,

he is a force
to be reckoned with.

Yeah, absolutely an assassin.

I think that's exactly
why everyone

was so excited about Jack

and what kind of bot he was
bringing into the battle box.

A quick knock out,
I mean, unbelievable.

CHRIS:
While we've had a chance
to hear from our winners...

You know, I just had to come in

and remind everybody
who the champ was.

CHRIS:
We'd like to
take you back in the pits

for a glance of what it's like
to have your prize robot

dissected inside the battle box.

Lock-jaw spinning that disk
spinner up to high speed.

And oh, taking a shot
at Bombshell,

which is one its head already.

MAN:
I think that's gonna be it.

Knockout.

CHRIS: That is it.
[TIMER BUZZES]

MIKE:
I was pretty disappointed
with our performance.

I really wanted to go out there
and put on a better fight.

Lock-jaw was able to get us
flipped over a couple times.

And really able
to keep on top of us,

once we were upside down.

And the issue we're having
is our motor,

now that we put in a new one,

has so much torque it's
actually slipping on the pulley.

And then,
near the end of the fight

he managed to slam us
into the wall.

And I'm not sure
exactly what's failed,

but either our drive motor
or our drive motor controller

died right at the end
of the fight.

I trust my team
to get the work done.

It think we'll be
in a great spot

when we get it back together.

And we will be at 100 percent
for the next fight.

CHRIS:
Oh, Minotaur gets shot
three feet in the air.

Whoo!

One, knockout.

[TIMER BUZZING]

MARCO:
I think we put on a good show.

I think we wanted
this fight to happen.

We knew it would be
a very expensive match.

But, you know, it's
the biggest bang for the buck.

You know, he got
a lot of hits there.

And I think the audience
was the one who won.

What happen is that,
after the first hit,

our chassis, the bolts sheered.

So then the weapon was
not speeding so fast.

Then we couldn't be aggressive
with the weapon spinning.

We have to be aggressive
with the weapon,

just as a rammer.

And we ended up breaking
both sides of the chassis.

The robot was still moving,

except that a chunk
of the arena floor

that was removed by Tombstone
in one of our encounters,

actually got
our wheels high centered.

We have spares,
that's what's important.

We have time to rebuild.

So, we'll be working here
all day all night.

CHRIS:
Here comes Jerry Clarkin
and SubZero

going right on the attack.

Oh.

KENNY:
Oh. Just hit by that
vertical spinner again.

CHRIS:
Huge, coming up big time
against SubZero.

[TIMER BUZZES]

JERRY:
We lost, heh,
and we got really messed up.

I had no idea how
to really fight him at first.

And, we didn't know
what to expect.

We broke our rear pivot assembly
off our weapon flipper arm.

There's several frame components
that are damaged inside.

Replacing frame components
is very in depth, you know,

and deep inside the robot.

So, that's a lot of work.

We'll be here till we close

and then we'll be back in
the morning and we'll finish.

And we'll be back.

CHRIS:
Oh.

Vanquish, you are in trouble.

That's gonna hurt.

JACK:
So it didn't exactly go to plan.

I went to plan
for about a minute...

[CHUCKLES]
...and then it
kind of fell to pieces,

literally and figuratively.

The welds that we had
in the chassis cracked

on a big hit
and kind of came apart.

It's about the worst case
scenario really,

but I don't think there's
anywhere to go down from here.

So it's just fight on then hope
that we get something good.

It still hasn't really sunk in
that this happened

but it's definitely
something that I'm gonna

keep a hold of for a long time.

CHRIS:
Good luck to these builders
for repairing their bots.

These are two heavyweights
in every sense of the word.

You're talking about two teams
whose track records

in BattleBots have shown us[/i]

they deserve to be
considered contenders.

These are elite robots.

Reliable, aggressive,
devastating

and now we get to see them
head to head.

KENNY:
Taking a look
at the tale of the tape,

it's obvious that these
are both massive weapons.

But what really sticks out to me

is the difference
in armor weight.

Andrea Suarez has clearly
put a premium on defense.

She's gotten rid
of their mini bot Shaman

and that's where the extra


adding that new ribcage

to protect the insides
of Witch Doctor.

And Yeti is, well, he's Yeti.

What we love about Greg Gibson
is that he's never

once thought about defense.

He only has six pounds of armor,

so his strategy is to smash
Witch Doctor to bits

or die trying.

That 50-pound drum spinner
is 10 inches in diameter

and over a foot wide,
and we've rarely ever

seen it stop working.

Let's take it inside the box.

Ladies and gentlemen,

time for tonight's main event.

CHRIS:
Here comes the newly redesigned
Witch Doctor.

Yeah, the costumes are back

and they've even got
a Yeti voodoo doll.

KENNY:
I love it.
This team always brings it.

From the design of their bot,
the outfits,

this is what BattleBots [/i]
is all about.

CHRIS:
They're rough,
they're tumble

they're from Alaska,
they're Yeti.

KENNY:
Yeah, absolutely.

I was so impressed
with them in 2016.

But I tell you what, Chris,

they are bringing
an even stronger bot,

a more powerful bot.

They learned a lot
from their experience,

and they're looking to do
some damage here tonight.

[CROWD CHEERING]

In the red square,

glippity, glappity,
glippity glee.

The voodoo princess is back
for number three.

It sacrificed it's young
and now she's down to one.

It's Witch Doctor.

CHRIS:
Andrea Suarez,
captain of Witch Doctor,

a biomedical engineer
who combines robotics

with the human anatomy.

Maybe that's where
she got the idea

for these armor ribs.

In the blue square,
from Alaska,

its favorite dessert
is Eskimo die.

Give it up for the bot
from Wasilla,

the vanilla killa, Yeti.

CHRIS:
Greg Gibson is
a hydrographic surveyor.

He uses robots
to map the ocean floor.

He'll be looking to mop the
floor with Witch Doctor tonight.

[CROWD CHEERING]

I think even though we're
usually very aggressive.

We're gonna try to hang back
a little bit

and see what he does first.

We're gonna let him
be the aggressor

and kinda dance around
a little bit

and place our shot
a little bit better.

You know, the nice thing is
I am never going to have

any strategy other than
full forward, full offense,

and every one here knows it.
They know it's gonna be coming.

Coming out of the gate,
this first fight is important.

I feel like I really need
to win this one

and prove that last time
wasn't a fluke.

That Yeti is legit,
it's here to stay.

So it's Yeti
versus Witch Doctor

in the battle box.

CHRIS:
Andrea Suarez and her boyfriend
Mike ready for battle.

ROBOT:
Blue team, ready?

CHRIS:
Greg Gibson,
Alaska, representin'.

[♪♪♪]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[TIMER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin.

Yeti, a little slow
off the mark there.

Witch Doctor trying
to take advantage,

but he's on the back foot.

Uh-oh, Yeti's got him
in the claws

and now into the screws.

KENNY:
That was a beautiful maneuver
from Yeti.

CHRIS:
There's a tire
already missing.

Whoa, look at the sparks
and that drum spinner.

KENNY:
Some massive shots
back and forth already.

Yeti's got a little damage
to its lifter

but Witch Doctor seems
to be taking the worst of it.

CHRIS:
Yeti just pushing
Witch Doctor back

and taking off
the right side of the ribs.

KENNY:
Oh.

CHRIS:
Yeti using that drum spinner,

but Witch Doctor's
on the counter attack.

Oh, no, we've got smoke
coming from Witch Doctor.

KENNY:
Wow, that rib is gone.

Yeti is hungry
tonight, Chris, wow.

CHRIS:
Whoa, Witch Doctor's in trouble.

KENNY:
That 50-pound drum spinner
is doing some serious damage.

CHRIS:
Oh, the pulverizer
now nailing Witch Doctor.

With its innards exposed.

Shot after shot, after shot.

Can Witch Doctor even move now?

REF:
Show me you've got

I don't have movement.

CHRIS:
Witch Doctor is incapacitated.

It can't move.

The countdown has started.

Greg Gibson, the Alaskan
assassin has sent a message

to the rest of the field.

He is here, he is hungry,

he's a force to
be reckoned with.

CHRIS:
Amazing performance
by Greg Gibson and Yeti.

It took less than 90 seconds
to dispose of Witch Doctor.

So much for Greg Gibson
being patient.

KENNY:
Well, not only is Greg Gibson
a phenomenal bot builder,

he's an excellent driver
as well.

He's ability to get around
the side on Witch Doctor

was so impressive.

That drum spinner, man,
did a lot of damage.

Witch Doctor was already smoking
from all the abuse.

And here's that final hit.

CHRIS:
All right, let's take a look

Guys, excellent showing.

Really quick match.

Yeah, I was thinking it was
gonna be a long, just, brawl,

but that was still
just really really fun.

Were you worried at all,

or were you pretty
confident going in?

I was insanely worried,
it's Witch Doctor.

I thought that was just gonna be
three more minutes of that.

You look like you had taken
a ton of damage,

but it ended up being
mostly just decorative.

You were able to keep going.

Well, I don't know
about decorative,

it was the lifter,
which I thought

was gonna be my key to victory.

So as soon as that
lifter went I said,

well, okay, caution to the wind
no more strategy

old school-- Smash.
Yeah.

Did you know that
the Witch Doctor had hexed you?

Have you checked out
the Yeti doll?

I've heard, I've been feeling
these weird pains

all over my body,
I'm not sure what's going on.

All right, well, what a relief.

they're one of the most
devastating bots out there,

but Yeti came out and got
their first win with authority.

Meanwhile, Witch Doctor,

Young kid phenomenal driver.
