01x03 - Our Evil Will Bloom, Someday

Post by bunniefuu »

[Uneasy music]

[Sakurama] What was that?

It's unlike any of the usual

Divine Artifacts we've seen.

[Red Keeper] Listen, fighters.

Your bosses are no longer alive.

- [shocked grunt]

- [Red Keeper] You have two choices.

- [grunts]

- [Red Keeper] Either we continue fighting

until one of us falls,

or we make a deal and you join us.

As humans and monsters,

why don't we work hand-in-hand

to co-exist?

[angry grunt]

Huh?

Please, wait for me!

Do you know that monster?

I'm sorry for your loss.

Just what are you saying…

You monsters have no chance of winning.

Please stop any evildoings

you may be planning.

What?

[Theme music]

Go! Go! Loser Ranger!

Episode 3

Our Evil Will Bloom, Someday

You… How did you find out

Just now, I was hiding and overheard

your conversation with Suzukiri.

Please give up.

[Tense music]

Even if we continue to fight,

justice will always prevail.

[in angry voice]

Justice, you say?

For the past 12 years, we've been forced

to play along with your charade!

I'm sick of that!

I'll put an end

to that messed-up organization!

Because I'm a monster!

[soft gasp]

[soft exhale]

You pass!

What?

You passed the recruitment exam!

[Sakurama chuckles]

From today onwards,

you'll join us as a fellow Ranger!

"Fellow Ranger"?

What are you saying at a time like this…

This world is imperfect.

It's normal to be dissatisfied with it!

In that case, we can change it

from within, fair and square!

Let's work together

to create a society

where humans and monsters can co-exist!

[Sakurama] Please!

I hate you.

[shocked grunt]

[Fighter D] You and I are enemies.

- Never talk to me again.

- [grunts]

You aren't fit to be a Ranger.

[Suzukiri] I believed in you.

[Suzukiri] I knew you'd come to me.

[Fighter D] Don't get the wrong idea.

I'm just here to learn

how to defeat the Rangers.

Once I'm done with you,

I'm cutting you off.

Sorry that I'm a monster.

How cheeky.

[knife slashes]

[Cheeky music]

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!

I see… So that's how you use mimicry

to turn into a human.

Are you stupid? What are you thinking?

I'm sure

people are going to be so surprised

if they know that a monster

is walking around in the streets.

[annoyed grunt]

You understand your situation now?

Tsk.

[Suzukiri] So…

you want to know

how to defeat the Rangers, right?

The key lies in the Divine Artifacts.

[soft grunt]

[Suzukiri]

There are five different Divine Artifacts.

They're transformation items

for the Dragon Keepers,

created to fight monsters.

They're also cheat items

that grant the user divine powers.

Divine Artifacts are capable of k*lling

the immortal monsters.

In other words…

[Fighter D] You plan to do something

to those Divine Artifacts?

Bingo.

[Suzukiri] The Ranger Force may appear

to be very powerful, but in truth,

it's an incomplete organization that

relies heavily on the top five members.

If we just poke

at where they're imbalanced,

it might crumble easier than we expect.

Still… if it's that important,

they'd never take their eyes away from it,

would they?

You plan to strike

while they're asleep or something?

- [snoring]

- [Fighter D snickering]

- [gasps]

- [Fighter D yelps]

That's one way,

but there's a specific moment

when they'd have to leave

their Divine Artifacts.

[gasps]

And that's the Sunday Showdown.

[Suzukiri] They can't bring the real ones

to a fake battle, after all.

[commentator]

This is the time you've been waiting for,

Ranger fans all across the nation!

It's finally time

for the usual Sunday Showdown!

[exciting music]

[Suzukiri] Wow, you're looking

more like Red by the minute.

If fighters are capable

of things like these,

we can't afford to underestimate you guys.

[Fighter D] Shut up.

Could you not talk to me?

I need more focus for unfamiliar faces.

[Suzukiri] Hey. If you guys are good

at mimicking humans,

why didn't you use it to your advantage?

You could blend in

and do spy activities or something.

[Fighter D] There are things

we're good at mimicking and bad at.

[Suzukiri] I see…

You're taking too long.

[Suzukiri] I'm getting tired,

so transform into a chair for now.

You're seriously annoying me!

I just happen to be good

at mimicking surface-dwellers.

Is that so?

But this special skill of yours

could change the tide of the battle.

- [Fighter D] I'm in.

- [Suzukiri] Okay.

The signal's good.

All right, Fighter-kun,

go steal the Divine Artifact.

And don't blow your cover!

[Fighter D] This girl…

She talks as if it's none of her business…

[Suzukiri]

There should be a staircase at the end,

at the far right

of the passageway you're facing.

It's so dark, I can't see anything.

[clicks tongue]

How do you know that?

[Suzukiri giggles] I guess

you could call it a woman's intuition.

[Fighter D] She always avoids answering

important questions…

Suzukiri… you're with the Rangers, right?

Why are you helping a monster?

[Suzukiri]

You ever watched teenage dramas?

What?

[Suzukiri] The trope is to get a dull girl

and the hottest guy in school together.

Other girls or guys may appear as rivals

as the story progresses,

but the original couple

will always end up together.

What are you talking about?

[Suzukiri giggles]

I feel bad for the rivals.

The main characters always win in the end,

so I just can't bring myself

to cheer for them.

That's why

I want to help you, Fighter-kun.

[nervous grunt]

[Light suspenseful music]

[Fighter D] They can't tell

I'm an imposter. I can do this!

[Suzukiri] Are you listening?

[creature] Stare…

[Fighter D] I see stairs.

[Suzukiri] That's it.

Go down and you'll find

where they keep the Divine Artifact.

[gasps]

You're back already, Red?

[Tense music]

Yeah.

[Fighter D] I can't chicken out now.

I'm done running away!

I need to use the Divine Artifact

to transform again.

I'm going in.

Sure, go ahead.

[grunts]

[Tokita] Still, Red…

I'm impressed that you're willing to deal

with those trash mobs every week.

- [Fighter D grunts]

- [Suzukiri] Calm down.

Don't forget your objective.

[deep exhale]

They may be weak, but they're monsters.

[Fighter D] We can't underestimate them.

[Tokita]

Must be tough being the Red Keeper.

Whatever. I don't care so long as I have

a justified reason to k*ll monsters.

- [Fighter D] Right.

- [lock clicks]

I hope you guys keep up that attitude.

[door opens, closes]

Huh…

- [Suzukiri] You endured well. Good job.

- [scoffs]

All right. Let's see

where he hid the Divine Artifact…

[gasps]

[Fighter D] No way…

He just left it out in the open?

This ain't some home decor.

Isn't this too careless?

Is this a trap?

Probably not.

This must be what Suzukiri meant

when she said

that the Rangers are incomplete.

That guy doesn't even think of us

as threats.

How dare you look down on us.

You'll be sorry!

I got it!

I finally got my hands on the very thing

- that's been tormenting us for years…

- [g*nsh*t]

Oh, come on! I thought

you smelled different from usual.

So you're an impostor!

Smell?

What if it was the real Red?

He would've died!

Are you stupid?

The real Red would never fall

for a surprise attack like that!

Fine. Since my cover's blown,

I have no choice.

But just try to attack me. If you do

Huh? Come again?

I said

Stop

What'll happen to me if I sh**t you?

I said Wait

[Tokita] You guys creep me out

with how you keep regenerating.

Don't act so c*ck

just because you don't die!

You guys probably think

you'll win one day.

- That's why you'll always be weak!

- [g*nshots]

We humans die one day,

so the fear of death makes us grow!

[scoffs]

[snickers]

[Tense music]

[Tokita breathing heavily]

[laughing]

I did a good deed yet again today!

This is why I can't stop k*lling monsters!

[Tokita] Let's end this now, shall we?

[grunting]

D-Damn you…

I've always wanted to try using this.

- [Fighter D] Y-You can use it?

- What?

Anyone other than the Dragon Keepers

can use it?

[Tokita]

Well, it'll be my first time trying.

I'll test it on you.

Let's see if it really can k*ll

an immortal monster.

[Fighter D] W-Wait!

I don't want to die!

Why's a monster like you having regrets

like a normal human?

Is that all for your final words?

No, I've got more!

[clicks tongue]

Ugh… What else?

[surprised grunt]

What? Come on… Isn't that a dynamite?

[nervous chuckle]

That's right!

Damn you! You should've said that first!

Shut up!

That's what I've been trying to say!

Listen! Just try attacking me,

and the entire place is going to blow up!

W-Wait, let's not be too hasty, okay?

Why don't we have a heart-to-heart talk?

No need to play dirty…

Come on,

you could remember once in a while.

- [gasps]

- We monsters came here

to achieve world domination.

Here you go. It's the fear of death

that you like so much.

[Tokita breathes shakily]

D-Don't do it!

- [Fighter D grunts]

- [clanks]

[Tokita groans]

[Tokita] You… little…

Unlike you guys,

I can't afford to act cool!

- Don't blame me!

- [Tokita screams]

[Suzukiri] Not bad.

You're stronger than I expected.

You did really well.

I'm glad I came to you for the job.

I'm sure you'll…

S-Stop praising me, will you?

[Fighter D] Damn.

I managed to win for once,

but I feel so irritated for some reason.

All right.

I reached the rooftop as planned.

[Suzukiri] Nice one!

Maybe I should reward you.

- What? I don't need a reward…

- [footsteps approaching]

[Suzukiri] Fighter-kun?

Oh, my bad. Can we talk later?

- [Tense music]

- [Fighter D] I'm kind of busy right now.

Why are you here?

Don't you need to deal with the monsters?

No problem. There's one in front of me.

[Red Keeper] All right, monster.

Return the Divine Artifact

to me right now and disappear.

You're the one that's going to disappear,

Red Keeper!

[Fighter D grunting]

[grunting continues]

Stop trying to show off!

[Fighter D grunts]

[gasps, grunts]

- [Fighter D screams]

- [Red Keeper grunts]

Ugh… I'm not done yet!

Oh my… Where did your arm go?

Don't worry, I'm going to put it back on,

together with what it's on!

- [Fighter D grunting]

- [intense music]

[grunting continues]

[Red Keeper]

The power of regeneration, huh?

[grunting]

Reminds me of the time

I was in the baseball club.

[Red Keeper] That's a meatball!

Homerun!

He did that with just a pipe?

[grunts]

[gasps]

No! My arm! And the Divine Artifact!

[Fighter D grunts]

- [scoffs]

- [Fighter D] Hey.

You made me drop my left arm!

Oh? Is my Divine Artifact

more important than your own arm?

[Red Keeper] Good job.

I'm touched by your efforts.

- But you look unsightly.

- What?

I'd say you're not up for the task.

This isn't even enough

to make a stage for you villains.

You're nothing but a loser.

Huh? I'd say I'm doing pretty well

for a weak fighter!

This is my full power!

So don't you hold back too!

[chuckles]

- [grunts]

- [laughing]

Don't be conceited. Why would I defeat

a mere fighter when there's no audience?

Just think about your role in all of this.

- [helicopter whirring]

- [surprised grunt]

[Dramatic music]

[commentator] Red Keeper is right here!

He chased down a fighter

that escaped from the arena!

A fight's going down outside of the arena!

- And now's the time I go all out. Get it?

- [annoyed grunt]

[Red Keeper] Tens of thousands of people

in front of the TV

are excited to see you lose.

They're waiting to see you

die pathetically as your limbs scatter.

You've been living in disgrace

this whole time.

You can at least do the world a favor

when you die.

[angry grunt]

Just when will you stop ridiculing us?

Watch me shock the crowd

when they see a weak fighter

defeat the leader of the Rangers!

[breathing heavily]

Uh?

[Red Keeper grunts]

Oh, no! The injury I got

from the tiger monster last week…

[Fighter D] What's up with him suddenly?

But if he isn't acting…

Small fry.

You think you can fight me one-on-one?

[Red Keeper] Oh, I almost forgot.

What? Blue

[Green Keeper] What are you doing, Red?

Well… I was acting.

Cameras!

Don't be mistaken, monster!

We're just protecting!

Together with my comrades,

we're protecting everyone on this planet!

Well said!

This is going to be a legendary battle!

If you don't like that,

then don't invade us!

The heck?

What the hell are you talking about?

Die, Ranger Force!

One more left, huh? I can finally go home.

[Green Keeper]

You did pretty well for a lone effort.

Isn't that fighter

the same one from last week?

Last week?

They all look the same,

so I don't remember him.

Now's a good time. Blue!

We'll k*ll this traitor

with a Divine Artifact.

[grunts]

[Red Keeper]

End him with your Divine Artifact.

Make it look flashy.

[Fighter D] Hey, Red!

I want a fight with you!

Red used his Divine Artifact

on some rogue monster the other day.

Getting stuck into a routine is

what we should be worried about the most.

Actually, we've been ending our battles

with random fighters.

Aren't we getting stuck

into a routine here?

Still, we have to get things done.

[Green Keeper] In that case,

I have a suggestion.

Red. Why don't we change

the plot of the show like this…

[worried grunt]

It's for the sake of the greater good,

I guess.

Very well. Listen up, monster!

[Green Keeper]

We're impressed by your courage!

It'll be a waste to let someone like you

rot in the Monster Army!

Why don't you surrender

and allow yourself to be captured?

[commentator] What a surprise!

What a shocking turn of events

in the history of all 13 years

of Sunday Showdown!

Thank your lucky stars.

Don't worry, we'll ensure your safety

What? I don't want that.

Okay, k*ll him.

Divine Artifact, Manifest!

[grunting]

[Fighter D]

This won't end with just my death.

I'm sure someone else will…

[pensive music]

It doesn't matter

even if I know we're going to lose.

[Fighter F] I'll do my best

to play the perfect monster.

You'll remember me!

[Red Keeper] Like I said,

I won't be able to remember you.

And it's over!

The Dragon Keepers continue

their victory streak

in this week's Sunday Showdown!

Humanity's peace has been protected!

[Green Keeper]

Yellow! Your hand was covering my face!

[Yellow Keeper]

You could just learn to adjust, you know.

[Pink Keeper] Come on,

who cares about that?

No need to fight over it!

No, it's important.

[Red Keeper] We must always appear cool.

Otherwise… we'd look like losers.

Oh, my Divine Artifact is over there.

[Red Keeper] Still, Pink is right.

We need to reflect on the fact

that we've been ending our fights

with just fighters.

A trash mob is 100 years too early

to be causing trouble for us.

What?

[Red Keeper] Don't tell me…

That wasn't my Divine Artifact.

- It was his left arm!

- [cheeky music]

Where did my Divine Artifact go?

[Suzukiri] Aww, he died.

You have my thanks, Fighter-kun.

I won't let your sacrifice be in vain.

[Suzukiri] Now, there's four left.

THE DIVINE DRAGON RANGERS:

THE DRAGON KEEPERS

[closing theme music]

[ranger 1] Confirming the situation

based on a reported monster sighting.

- [ranger 2] Blue Squadron 036! Report in!

- [ranger 1] Blue Squadron 017, respond!

- [ranger 2] Blue Squadron 017 and 036!

- [ranger 1] How's the situation, 017?

[ranger 2] What's wrong? 017! 036!

[Blue Squadron 036 yelps, panting]

[Tense music]

What's wrong, Sakurama?

Suzukiri! Should I eat

yakiniku or omurice?

- This is such a dilemma!

- For goodness sake! You'll have omurice!

Oh! I guess omurice it is, then.

[chuckles]

You just accept whatever

people tell you, huh? Well, let's do this!

[both] "The Soldier With Love, Hibiki!"

- [laughter]

- [Sakurama] I'm getting excited!
