Amy Jellicoe is a 40-year-old woman who returns home to Riverside, California, after a two-month stay at a holistic treatment facility, a result of having a mental breakdown at work after finding herself demoted, which was triggered by her self-destructive ways which in turn was triggered by a miscarriage and a rather bitter divorce.

(VARIOUS VOICES IN DREAM)

(VOICES STOP)

(PHONE RINGING)

Yo. What's up?

Hey. Hey.

I thought if anybody
would be up...

What are you doing?

Just taking it easy.

What's going on?

Oh, man, I had the worst dream.

Aw, that's too bad.
You had a nightmare?

Yeah.

You were in it.

LEVI: (WHISPERING) Amy...

(WOMAN LAUGHING)

AMY: I was looking for you.

SANDY: Relax, senorita, relax.

LEVI: I'm very, very lucky.

AMY: There was a party
going on in the house.

DAMON: Sleeping with you was a
big mistake, but you know what, Amy...

(LAUGHING)

HELEN: You can't
have fun all your life...

JUDY: There's a lot of
other people here like you...

TYLER: It's not so bad...

DOUGIE: Soft, buttery skin...

TYLER: Maybe they're
sleeping together...

AMY: I just kept
looking for you.

SANDY: There you
go, let it go. Open...

AMY: You were running from me.

LEVI: I'm not sick, Amy...

Now you got all the answers...

AMY: I really had to find you.

DOUGIE: Get to work...

I'm lost.

AMY: Then I woke up.

Now I can't sleep.
I'm wide awake.

So what? You wanna
come over or something?

LEVI: Come on,
just come on over.

AMY: Why is your place so empty?

Where's all the stuff
from the old house?

I thought you
took it all. Right?

I took some stuff, but remember
when I stayed at treatment,

they locked all
my sh*t in storage?

What about you?
Where's your stuff?

I don't know.

LEVI: Some of
it's here. Isn't it?

Okay, I got something,
that I didn't lose in the flood.

So, you don't see
anything in here, huh?

No.

Nothing?

Nothing at all?

What am I supposed to see?

What? What am I supposed to see?

(SIGHS LOUDLY)

Oh, the bed.

Right?

The bed. Okay.

Come on.

You gotta remember
this bed, right?

Yeah, I remember this bed.

LEVI: Just stay here.

No bad dreams here.

Come on, Amy, just,

let's just cuddle for a minute.

Amy.

Levi.

Mmm.

(LEVI SNORING)

(GASPS)

HELEN: Amy?

Oh, what happened?

Nothing.

I couldn't find you!

Well...

Mom, I'm here, okay?
And I'm running really late.

Where were you?

I visited a friend, okay?

What friend?

Okay, Mom, I went
to see Levi. Okay?

DOUGIE: I want all of our right hands
to know what our left hand is doing.

(DOOR BEEPS)

Pretty simple, pretty
self-explanatory.

Oh.

What's up?

Come on everybody, let's give
Amy a nice welcome to the meeting.

Come on, join us, why don't ya?

(CLAPPING FASTER)

Way to be almost
on time. Love it.

As you may have noticed, we got some
new desks, and some new equipment.

We're clearing
out all the old crap,

so things are gonna look a
little more legit around here.

Oh, whoa. DOUGIE: Why?
Because what we're doing here,

is gonna kick a*s. (WHISPERING)
I had a total nightmare last night,

and you were in it! What
we're doing here is important...

It's like, so...

Hey, guys! Hey, what the...

I'm sure.

Amy, in my office. Right now.

Close the door.

Okay, I, I didn't know
there was a meeting, okay?

I'm sorry. Like, who
scheduled that, or when, or...

It wasn't. I was making an
announcement. They gave me a promotion.

Oh, cool! Dougie,
that's so cool.

It means our department is
really gonna be on the radar now.

I gotta meet with top brass
about bureaucratic whatnot.

Okay? Okay.

It's bad enough that, that
you show up late every day,

but I also know
you ain't doing jack!

Everybody here is
lapping you, okay?

How we gonna make the company
more productive, if we're not?

You know?

On your desk,

is employee logs from
all our warehouses.

If those stacks aren't logged today,
I'm gonna put you in my status report.

Things have changed.

I'm a VP now.

You may go.

Oh.

AMY: (WHISPERING) Jesus Christ.

Are you kidding me?

I'll never get
through this today!

Ugh!

There's no way I'm gonna
get through that stack.

I mean, why me? What's
that guy's problem?

Well, you are always late.

And you don't really work.

Very hard.

That's not it. He
has it out for me.

I need to get on his
good side, you know?

Well, he's pretty horny.

Maybe if you got him laid...

That's disgusting, Tyler.

No.

Ugh. I'd feel like a pimp.

I bet if you set him up, he'd let
you start your women's group,

or your community
outreach deal, or whatever.

I mean, how would
I do that, anyway?

You should set him up with that
girl who came to your yoga thing.

What girl?

She's tall and blonde, she
came to your yoga thing.

Uh-huh. He's talking
about her a lot.

He is? I think
he's really into her.

Yeah, he talks a big game,
but I think he's pretty lonely.

You know, everybody
wants a girlfriend.

Hey!

(LAUGHS)

Hi!

You caught me stuffing
my face, by the way.

No, you're a mom,
you have to do that.

(KNOCKING)

Um, hey, listen. Um,
what's the name of

that girl you brought
to yoga the other day?

Harper?

Yeah, the tall one,
right? Blonde girl?

Mmm-hmm.

Is she, is she single?

Yeah, she's single. Why?

Well, I was thinking of maybe
setting her up with a guy in Cogentiva.

If you can just e-mail
me her extension...

Sure.

Okay!

You know, Amy... Yeah?

You know who we should set up?

You.

What? Why?

(LAUGHS)

Why not? No.

I am really taking a break
from all that right now.

Yeah, but you have taken a break,
Amy. You can't take a break forever.

Don't you want
some love in your life?

Don't I have love in my life?

I don't know. Do you?

AMY: Is there any
love for me anymore?

Where would I find it?

Men can be such monkeys.

Most of them are so ridiculous.

The dumb monuments
to their egos.

Pissing matches
and their titles.

What happens when the thing that
used to attract you now repels you?

Where do I go from here?

Hey, Dougie!

What's up?

How's your stack?

Um, making progress. Yeah, so...

Um, listen, I hope
this isn't inappropriate,

but, um, I was just wondering if you
were in a relationship now, or anything?

Really?

No, no, I don't, I
don't mean for me.

I heard that... Hey, Big Dog.

Holding down the fort? Oh, sure.

(LAUGHS) That you
had an eye on Harper.

I could talk to her, 'cause,
since I know her, right?

And like, talk you up, or see if, you
know, she's interested or whatever?

Yeah? You'd do that?

We gotta support each other!

Yeah! Do you
think she'd like me?

Well, you're a
popular dude, right?

So, I mean, she'll feel that way
too, right? I love this chick stuff.

Amy, come here.

Look, some of us
are getting together

at this club called Bank,
to celebrate my promotion.

Yeah?

And, you know, maybe
you could bring this Harper.

Oh, okay, well,
I'll call her and see.

Yeah! But tell her
about my promotion.

Okay. Oh, yeah! Good.

Right? Okay.

Yeah, because she's like...

She's hot. She's
like, really attractive.

Cool.

She's got like, a sick body.

She seems nice. She's flexible.

Okay!

Great, I'm gonna,
I'm gonna call her!

Right? Let's do this!

Do it! Let's do this.

Okay, cool.

Um, you know what?
Actually, um, one thing.

I've been really excited about getting this
women's group together at Abaddonn, WAA,

and have a group focused,

you know, on like... Don't really
have time for that right now, Amy.

I mean, we got a lot on our plates, so we
kinda have to keep focused on the work.

Okay, cool!

Well, that's cool. Okay, great.

Okay. I'm gonna go call her.

All right.

Oh, you know what? One other little
thing, which is, that stack is... whoa!

I'm working it, but I don't know

that I can get through the
whole thing today, exactly.

Okay. I'll give you
the weekend, all right?

But this is the
last time, all right?

Okay.

Hey, I may be a VP now,
but I'm still a big ol' softie.

Right.

Saturday night?
I don't think I can.

AMY: Oh, are you sure? There's,
um, a guy in my department,

he, um, saw you at yoga the other day,
and I think he has a little crush, so...

Which guy?

Uh, Dougie.

I don't know if you remember,

he's got shoulder-length
brown hair,

and he wears like, really
nice shirts sometimes and stuff.

I mean, I don't know what your
type of guy is, but maybe that's it!

He's not that pervy guy, is he?

Pervy guy?

Yeah, there was a guy there
who kept trying to stretch me out.

Well, this guy is the
head of our department.

Oh!

He's a VP, so...

Okay. I guess I could.

Well, great! It's at
that club, Bank, at 9:00.

HARPER: Okay. Bye.

Bye!

(WHISPERING) Oh, my God,

I'm not like, whoring
her out, am I?

I think it's gonna work.

Evening.

Tyler, you're so
nice to help me.

It's no big deal.

It is a big deal. It is.

You're a nice guy.

I'm so lucky I got
placed next to you.

Of all the people down here...

I feel the same way.

You do?

Mmm.

Um,

something is wrong.

Tyler, something's really...

off here. What?

Ugh.

Look, it says 23, 23, 27, right?

Mmm-hmm.

And then in my book, 23, 23,
27, but it's off, the numbers are off!

They're off one.

Oh, my God!

Oh, my God, do I have
to do it all over again?

(CHUCKLING) No.

You just change the
column number here,

and it re-adjusts all the
data that comes after.

It's no big deal.

Relax. (LAUGHING)
How did you do that?

Oh, my God! Oh, thank God.

Oh, that feels so good.

Oh, thank you so much.

(SIGHS)

AMY: Mmm.

Thank you.

(EXHALES)

(WHISPERING) Oh,
that feels so good.

Aw.

Oh, what? Hey, whoa. Oh!

Oh, okay. Sorry.

Oh.

I... I didn't mean
to... It's no big deal.

Tyler, I...

I just didn't expect that!

(STUTTERING)
Okay, don't. I don't...

You know, it's no big deal.

You know, I'll see ya tomorrow.

Hey, Tyler, I don't...

I'm just curious, like,

why you never dated
anybody after Dad died.

I don't mind being alone.

Conversation's better.

(LOUD DANCE MUSIC PLAYING)

DOUGIE: Whoo!

Amy! Hey!

What?

I love your hair!

I thought it'd be fun,
you know, just go...

Like Frankenstein!

Kamikaze!

Kamikaze shot!

Oh! Your hair's really nice.

Thanks, you came! Hey, Harper!

Dougie!

Um, so this is
Harper, from yoga.

I know Harper, I remember you.

How could I forget Harper?

So, maybe we should get a table.

Yeah.

And we'll just hang out.

Yeah! I'll get us drinks!

Awesome.

Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots!

Amy, get up, sit over there.
Harper, come over here, sit by me.

Go sit over there.

There's a glory hole in
the john. I totally used it.

'Cause I need to
get off, too! What?

(DOUGIE LAUGHING)

What's a glory hole?

Oh, you're so
innocent, I love you!

DOUGIE: You're like a
nun, or Little Mermaid!

Ariel! You look
like f*cking Ariel!

So, you're a VP?

What department
are you in, anyway?

Um, let me think.

Um, Abaddonn hired me from a company that
developed the software to help ascertain

productivity levels, and...

I'm too drunk to
explain this to you, b*tch!

(MUSIC DISTORTS TO
A DIFFERENT TRACK)

Oh.

Oh, sh*t, this is my jam!

Oh, wow. Oh, Harper,
I'm, I'm really sorry.

Well, he's pretty drunk,
but, I think he's really cute!

Harper! Really?

Hey!

Amy!

Gangsta!

Gangsta!

Oh, boy.

Okay.

Oh, no, no...

Whoa, whoa, hey...

Whoa, whoa, hey, whoa!

What?

What happened?

If you date him,
you're a f*cking idiot!

HARPER: What? Why?

What did she say?

HARPER: She said I'm a
f*cking idiot if I date you!

She don't know me!

Tyler!

This place is hell.

(ENGINE STARTING)

Hey.

Can I talk to you?

(ENGINE STOPS)

(WHISPERING) Hey.

Hi.

I'm sorry,

you know, about last night,
and I just, I responded so...

I just didn't see that coming,

you know?

I'm still dealing with, um...

I don't know, feelings about
my ex that I thought were done.

But maybe they're not, you know?

AMY: (CHUCKLING) You want somebody
in your life, but what's the price, right?

Like, what's the risk?

Are you looking for
something that's missing?

Why does something
have to always be missing?

You know?

(SNIFFS)

(WHISPERING) Sorry.

(SIGHS)

I'm just... ugh.

(CHUCKLES)

I'm just tired of being alone.

So...

Well, we're all alone.

You know, in a way.

Some of us are more alone.

(KNOCKING)

(CHUCKLING)

Hey!

Whoa.

Can I come in?

Yeah, sure, come on in.

k*ller outfit!

Hey, thanks.

You workin' the strip tonight?

What's happening?

Heh. (CLEARS THROAT)

I was at an office party.

All the vampires were out.

Yeah? So what brings
you over here at this hour?

I just didn't feel
like going home yet.

Hey...

The other night,
when I slept over,

it felt nice.

What about you?

Yeah.

Yeah, you know, if felt good.

It was nice.

I guess you left me, remember?

Yeah, but,

something never left.

I mean,

in my dreams, I'm still
with you, you know?

Well, you know, you're always
welcome over here, anytime.

And I mean that. And I
wouldn't say it if I didn't.

But the thing is, that
doorbell's about to ring.

Okay?

What?

I got a young lady coming by.

I had an urge.

So, you know, I can get
rid of her if, if you want.

No, Levi.

You gonna be okay?

I'm gonna be okay.

Good.

Yeah.

And I'll check in
on you tomorrow?

Yeah. Great.

Oh. Oh!

Oh.

Um, I think I'm at
the wrong place.

No. Uh,

he's inside.

I'm just the ex-wife, I came by 'cause I
needed something. You guys have fun!

Okay.

That was awkward.

f*cking Grand Central Station
around here. Jesus Christ.

AMY: Life can be like a
bad dream sometimes.

We all want comfort.

A little love to get us
through the long nights.

Nobody wants to sleep alone.

Everyone's afraid of the dark.

But I will not be afraid.

The light is always there.

It is all around me.

Nothing is missing.

I am not waiting for the sun.

(SOFT ROCK MUSIC PLAYING)
