to these different courts

for the last 10 months and, uh

then the CFS have got involved.

And now it's all gone too far.

The kind of songs he's always made,

women play in their music.

It's a little more grown up,

less in your face, less raw version

of the same sort of thinking.

We've grown up listening to Honey's music.

His songs sound nice

because he's creating something.

this immense source of star power,

when that gives it validation that,

"Hey, Honey Singh is singing this song."

"Look at where he's reached

singing songs like this."

That is what I had an issue with.

I just wanted to work.

I made this decision when I was sh**ting

the "Dope Shope" music video.

So I used to see girls in Delhi

who were smoking weed.

I saw them dancing to this song

called "Tonight I'm f*cking you"

by Enrique Iglesias.

So, I was like,

"If this guy is writing such bold lyrics,

and he's taking two girls on a yacht

and kissing them both in the music video,

he's doing all this and the girls

are loving it and they're smoking up,

so should I try this too?"

So, I also shot on a video on a yacht.

If you watch the "Dope Shope" video,

you'll see girls wearing skimpy clothes,

there's dancing going on and all that.

I did it. People accepted it.

People really liked it.

So, I tried it, and it worked out.

So, then I kept on doing it.

They all say,

"This is what the audience wants,"

which is the worst cop out. Ever.

[Mozez] Why? But it is what they want.

Yes, and so then are you an artist

or are you a supplier?

Are you a vendor?

No human being's motive

is ever to hurt anyone.

It's just to entertain people.

And getting so much hate

-An accusation is an accusation.

-for no reason.

Well, any normal person

will get mentally affected by all of this.

I still remember

that two of his projects

were going on together.

and then there was the Temptation Tour.

It took us seven hours

to get here from Mumbai.

We could get to England in so much time.

Although we lived in Noida,

after a show, he wouldn't come home.

He would just keep himself busy.

After that, out of 365 days,

we wouldn't see him for 300 days.

That's how busy he was.

Maybe they'll file a case against me.

I didn't really understand

what was happening with me.

Why was I feeling like this?

It was 4:00

It was 3:00 a.m. here in India

and he was in the US,

and he was supposed

to go for his sound check.

He messaged me, "I'm not feeling okay."

And this was the first time

he said something.

I was in my room. He messaged again,

"Something's not right with me.

See what I'm doing."

I said,

He said, "Can you come on Skype?"

I said, "Yes."

And then he said that

-"Please bring me back."

-[Sneha] "Please just save me."

He said,

And then

he disconnected.

And I-- I was trying

to reach out to Shalini.

She said, "He has to do this sh**t.

You convince him to do this show."

And I said, "I can't."

"Because, see,

this is what he's sending me."

"He just said that he's not feeling okay.

Something bad is happening."

His body wasn't allowing it,

nor was his mind.

And, for three hours,

we had no contact with them.

Then, three hours later,

I got news that he's in the hospital.

He's got stitches.

Shah Rukh Khan slapped Honey Singh

during the SLAM Tour promotion.

[reporter 2]

unprofessional behavior that provoked

[reporter 3]

asked him to leave the show.

[Honey] Someone spread the rumor

that Shah Rukh Khan slapped Honey Singh.

That man loves me so much,

he'd never do that.

Now, I'll tell you

what happened nine years ago.

No one knows what I'm about to say

in front of this camera today.

No one knows about it.

When they took me along

for the Chicago show,

I said, "I don't wanna do this show."

I felt like I'd die during that show.

I wasn't ready for the show.

They said, "Get him ready. Come on."

My management team turned up.

They said, "Get ready.

Why aren't you getting ready?"

The people with me said, "Get ready."

I said, "I'm not going,

I already told you."

I said, "I'm not going."

I went to the washroom, took a trimmer,

and I shaved my hair off.

I said, "How can I perform now?"

They said, "Wear a cap and perform."

I said, "You're not even listening to me."

I said, "I don't want to go!

I don't want to go!"

I kept sitting in the chair like this.

"I'm not performing today!"

There was a coffee mug lying there.

I picked it up and smashed it on my head.

That day, I think I was very assertive

and I said, "Bring him back."

He's everything, you know.

If anything happens to him,

there's no point.

So, we took the decision

that work needs to stop.

"You come home."

"We'll figure out

what needs to be done after that."

[Honey] It's bipolar disorder.

Along with that,

I had some psychotic symptoms too.

It's like your mind is in overdrive,

and you spiral out of control.

You're thinking all sorts of things,

all sorts of things

that are completely unfounded.

You know how you have dreams?

But these dreams

are playing out in real life.

Even when the house help came home,

I'd get scared, thinking,

"She's looking at me and laughing, see."

She'd be mopping the floor,

and I'd think there's blood fallen there,

she's cleaning up the blood.

This is what was going on in my head.

I had this strange feeling

that I'd probably

never see my parents again,

that I might get trapped somewhere.

People say, "I've been through hell,

I've been through hell." I saw hell.

I saw death. I wished for death every day.

[reporter] Honey sir, are you okay now?

Sir, we heard you were depressed, sir.

Is this true? Honey sir?

[Honey] I let my hair grow out,

let my beard grow out.

I wouldn't meet anyone.

I'd sleep all the time, cry all the time.

[unsettling music playing]

I'd stare at the moon all night,

look at how it's changing.

I'd stare at it

for a really long time, really long.

I'd feel like it's been

like six or seven hours,

and only 15 minutes would've passed.

My day just wouldn't get over.

I just couldn't understand what to do.

Locked up in a room, I wouldn't come out.

I kept feeling like

someone's going to die now.

There's prayers being held at home.

Now, someone's gonna die.

Someone's gonna die now.

I'd wait and see, "Who's gonna die?

I'd keep watching, "Who's dead?"

I'd go and look in all the rooms,

"Who's dead?"

Then I'd see nobody's dead.

Then I'd think,

"Maybe it's me who's gonna die,

that's why they're all praying."

"Maybe I'm gonna die today."

I know it gets really boring

that I keep talking about this

over and over again.

I just want to tell you, "f*ck,

you have no idea what it's like."

It's a m*therf*cker of a disease.

If your liver or kidney fails,

one of your brothers

can give you his kidney.

If he's not ready,

you can get a kidney from the market.

If your mind is f*cked,

who will give you theirs?

Where will you get one?

How can it be fixed?

I used to think,

"Will I ever be okay again?"

At that time,

I would constantly keep thinking,

"He's low. Make him happy."

"Do something. Do something silly."

"Talk memories, childhood."

"Get something that he really likes."

Now, when I'm telling you all of this,

I actually feel very stupid

because I'm more educated

about the illness now, you know?

We met really good doctors,

and they really helped us

and they really educated us.

[Honey] Everyone at home

is aware of this now.

They know about mental health problems

because they've seen it now.

They've seen me.

I was reduced to nothing in front of them.

Now, they understand

what this illness is about.

They used to walk around

with stacks of files for me,

my mother, my sister, my wife,

from this doctor

to that doctor to this doctor.

He came and told us himself,

"I need your help. Get a doctor." He--

He said, "I don't understand

what is happening--"

"I don't understand

what is happening to me."

"I really need-- I want a doctor."

The day he accepted that,

"These are my symptoms,

these are my thoughts,

I have to work on them,"

that day was actually, you know,

when we saw improvement in his health.

So, that took us a long time

to reach there, to that point.

More than a year?

Yeah. More than a year.



[Sneha] I still remember, when in 2016,

Bhaiya's

and the first award ceremony he attended,

he was sitting

right next to Shah Rukh Khan sir

so that the media should know

that nothing happened.

And he was really nice to

2016, '17, by the time it was 2018,

Bhaiya

And then he started talking about work.

He was still on his medication.

He knew he had gained weight.

And still, he would carry that weight

with a lot of grace.

Around that time, because of "Makhna,"

there was pressure on him to go to Cuba.

My wife is there.

We got a lot of criticism for his looks.

His long hair. His face looks bloated.

His thought process was like,

"Now I'm going to compose music

and give songs to--"

I was like, "No! They want to see you!"

Even our family's

spiritual Guru, Acharyaji,

he motivated

Things changed.

The weight started coming down.

We saw him getting better.

We saw that confidence back,

that smile on his face.

So, that's where we are now.

He's fit. He's healthy.

Doctors have given him a routine.

But for him to follow his routine

is-- is very important.

And his sleep.

His sleep shouldn't be disturbed,

and he shouldn't miss his dose.

If we are going to perform somewhere,

we arrive in that city a day in advance.

We make sure we sleep properly.

We rest properly.

We wake up the next day at our own pace.

We do the shows. We sleep again.

The next day, we wake up

and catch the night flight

to another city.

[Bhupinder] It doesn't matter

if he gets free by 2:00 or 3:00 a.m.,

I make sure I talk to him.

When has he woken up? Has he eaten or not?

Is he relaxed or not?

So when he works too much,

I remind him that he needs

to take a break in the middle.

Those two years

when I didn't have any work,

it was a horrible time for me.

I mean, a young man is sitting at home

and just sleeping

till 12:30 in the afternoon,

and his father's going to work,

and I'm just watching.

I mean, whenever our eyes would meet,

I would feel ashamed of myself

that I'm not earning

and my father is still working at his age.

My parents have really done a lot for me.

And I haven't really been able

to do anything for them.

Now they do nothing but wait for me.

"When will he come? When will he come?"

And I can't even sit with them.

And when I was at home, I was like

a f*cking dead body, a f*cking corpse.

They've seen me at my worst.

I've been to hell and back.

So, now, I'm mindful of the fact

that no matter how busy I get,

I still look after them.

All I want to say is that

whoever's watching this documentary,

just take care of your parents,

So, I don't wanna play with that,

with drugs, alcohol, too much work,

or not enough sleep, too much exertion.

I don't wanna risk it again.

Because I don't want that thing

back again in my life.
