you can be great with them,
you can be tougher on 'em, and so you do that
and then you're giving them the core to learn, right?
And so if I could see a kid five years after
and they want to wave at me and say hi in a store,
I don't know if they learned anything from me,
but I do know that I was a positive impact
and, you know, the fact that they want to come say hi
to me is one of the most rewarding things.

you're the best coworkers I ever had."

because I treat my classroom like that.

in that environment.

What inspired you to become teachers?
LILY: You know, going back to
moving here to the United States at 13 years old,
it was so overwhelming.
I didn't speak English so I met a couple of teachers
that helped me, got me to whatever I needed to
in those crazy times and that inspired me to do that.
So I'm a bilingual ESL teacher and that's what I do.
When kids come from all over the world,
I make sure that they feel welcome,
that they learn our system and keep their traditions.

MANOLO: I had a career in the medical field
before I became a teacher.
Very early, I discovered that I had a skill
