This song, the emotion

about my future wife.

This is gonna be a challenge for me,

because it's very difficult for me
to be vulnerable on stage.

Growing up, being at church,
my dad would always tell me,

"The people that you're singing to
have so much emotion.

So, why aren't you, like, actually
having emotion yourself?"

And I think a lot of it had to do with
because I was picked on a lot.

You're too short, or you're too fat,
or you're this or you're that.

I just kind of held it inside,

and it's hard for me to have emotion
and vulnerability when I hit the stage.

a lot because I was very feminine.

I was still, back then, in the closet.

the way I want to, like, present.

That's such an important thing.

Not only does this song allow me to be
able to present my heritage and my roots,

but also this song just holds
a lot of memories for me.

It has been with me throughout the process
of my self-identity journey.

I like being different.
That's what makes me special.

I'm also able to show that
we q*eer Mexican-Latino boys can make it,

as anyone else can.

[Keith] Well, Frank's a good example
of someone who's got star power.

If there was ten people on that stage,
you'd be looking at Frank.

Frank, can you tell us a little bit
about what the song is about?

The song talks a lot about how grief
is able to help you, like, rejuvenate.

So, with the theme, I sense that there's
a triumphant victory in it as well.

And I wasn't quite sure.

I agree with Keith.
I feel like that triumph...

You almost went there a couple times,
but you didn't quite go all the way there.

And do it unapologetically.

Yeah, and I think
when you're directing the band,

think of a Freddie Mercury kind of moment.

Where you turn around
and you point when the drums hit.

That kind of confidence really plays well
with the message of the song.

Music is a universal language.

Let that emotion shine.

And, man, I think it's gonna be
a really great performance.

From my understanding,

this song was written sort of
the first time Elton had come to LA

in, like, the early '70s.

The song's about embodying
that new sense of excitement.

I'm sort of at that same point in my life.

It's inspiring to me.

I feel like this is the most authentic
I've ever felt in my artist journey.

And I really just wanna prove
to Dan + Shay

that they stole me for a reason.

I want to win this knockout so bad.

[Dan] Melodically, I feel like this song
is really cool for her voice,

and I think this song
will be a bit of a stretch for her,

a bit of a challenge,
but I think that's great.

It allows her the opportunity
to really step up.

I think Olivia is going
to crush it on "Tiny Dancer."

versus just replicate

Nathan, you've just always loved the song?

My grandpa and I saw a movie,

and this song was playing in the
soundtrack of that movie before he passed.

-So every time I hear it, I think of him.

There's a lot of reasons why
this is the song I chose.

The two main reasons is
to pay homage to my grandpa,

but also show love to my girlfriend.

It's taken 27 years until I've met

I travel, working on cruises.

of meeting people

and dating just around the world.

So the lyrics mean something
to me legitimately.

And I'm on ships, singing all the time
with my girlfriend, loving my life.

But it's preparation

Dani's voice so unique

that I felt like
I was listening to someone

who'd been through three divorces.

It was unbelievable.

-Lot of drama in this 16-year-old's life.

If I had to choose one,
I would probably say Serenity,

So it's a similar kind of thing.

It's the first time I've ever
played live without a guitar.

Why did you choose to do that?

It's definitely a risk I'm taking
to not play it.

You have to take risks,

and I really wanna focus
on just my vocals.

This song is special to me,
'cause it reminds me of my Grandma Mary.

She passed away about three years ago.

When I was first getting
into songwriting and recording,

she was able to get me a new guitar.

And anytime we'd have
a family dinner night,

I'd go over to the house
and I'd play some songs for her.

She cried for the first time,
that I had seen,

when I played her this song.

I mean, she probably cried
for the other grandchildren

a couple times, but not me.

I'm just super excited
to sing this song for her.

He's got really cool texture
when he really belts and goes for it.

This is a great opportunity for Kyle.
