It wasn't my time

That's the biggest

My whole life story revolves
around that one sentence.

Success isn't how you learn.

I've been navigating what
it's like to handle rejection,

and part of who I am is I
love working out, bodybuilding.

Like, I love going to the gym.

And this second opportunity,

it's almost like, yes,
building your body,

but also building the
artist I want to become.

I get to rebuild
who I want to be.

So, with him saying those words,

it was almost like solidifying,
like, you're on the right track.

And that meant
a whole lot to me.

This song, it's all about,
like, energy and dynamics.

But I think this is what's
so nice about this version

is it gives you the opportunity

to show a different side of
your voice. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And it felt like the right
thing for both of you.

This is the perfect

because these two
have two huge voices,

so much character,
so much individuality.

She was being herself in a song

that's not necessarily
in her wheelhouse,

but requires a powerful singer.

Nini's got so much grit
and gravel to her voice.

and she's going to do so
well in this competition, I think.

I feel like, since I
have a pretty big voice,

learning how to put

going through line by line

and seeing where you're
going to finish your breath

and use it in the right spots.

I think you're doing a pretty
good job of it as it is now.

One thing I will say is I
think if you were to read it,

like, it's a
heart-wrencher. Yeah.

So make sure you're
telling that story

in your individual verses.

woman that gets in a relationship,

and it turns out that
it's not as wonderful

as, like, she thought
it was going to be.

I've definitely been
into, like, friendships

that you think that you
can trust this person,

and then it's like
they hurt you.

I'm from Tbilisi, Georgia,

but when I was 16,
I came to America.

The person that I
was going to stay with,

they were supposed to
meet me at the airport,

and she was a no-show.

I mean, I tried to find places,

but nobody would give me a home

because, like, I
didn't have my papers.

I started working really hard.

Like, I was making
burritos. I drove a rideshare.

You name it, I done it.

I feel like that experience
brought me here,

and it just made me want to
fight even harder for my dreams.

This could easily turn
into a karaoke song

if we allow it to. That's true.

Make sure when you're
singing in harmony together

that it doesn't get too

I would even contain some

My only issue with

was you were a little
unsure about how to build it

from the beginning to the end

and make all of it
feel super-compelling.

But once you revved
it up into full gear,

it was like, "Okay,
this girl can sing."

And then, Chechi,
you're exceptionally gifted.

Your range is ridiculous.

The beginning, it
sounded so rich and full,

and the fact that
you can do that

and still hit those
super-high notes

in the stratosphere
is pretty amazing.

You really gave a
really great performance.

I mean, the low to the high.

You two singing together
complemented each other

because, Calla, when
you sang those low notes,

it was like a whisper.

But, man, I heard

Reba: I was thrilled to
death to get him on my team.

He said his grandmother
loved watching my TV show.

I paired Mac with

I paired them together because
they are in the R&B space.

Rachele's very soft,

and then, Mac can
also get very soft,

especially when he's
going up into falsetto.

And I thought they could
play off each other better.

This is probably
one of the most iconic

and beautifully written
songs of all time.

People need to feel that love.

I enjoy being able
to create a space

where people can feel
that through my music

Being a professional busker,
out performing on the street,

some days you might
make a load of money,

and then some days
you may make change.

But it shaped my artistry

because having all of
those distractions around

while I was in the
midst of performing

made me, like, really
focus on my craft.

But there's so much
more that I'll learn

from working with Reba.

I'm forever grateful for that.

Reba: Very good. Very good.

Now, Mac, I didn't think
you were hearing the beat.

You kind of went a
different direction on it.

I guess when we were
practicing, we just wanted to,

like, pay homage
to the Bee Gees,

but also, like, give the
people just a little bit

of what we do or
what we like, so...

Well, the reason we
pick the songs we do

is because of
familiarity. Got you.

When I'm out on a concert tour,

those people out there who
paid that hard-earned money

to come listen to me sing,

they want something they
can sing along to. Right.

So, when you're singing a
song that is so well known

as "How Deep Is Your Love,"

you need to stay with
the melody I remember

so I can sing with,
be a part of the show.

Rachele: Because I am
a minor on Reba's team,

I feel that there are people

that may look at
me as a little kid

or kind of have that sympathy
for me just because I'm a minor.

But I want to bring it my all
and just prove to them, as well,

that I am here for a reason.

There's still so much to learn,

and I feel very
honored to be here.

I am excited for
the battle round,

and I hope that I do get
further in the competition.

Rachele, you know, you really
get into the body movement,

and your eyes are
closed, and it's beautiful,

but when you open your
eyes, hone in on somebody.

Rachele: One of my
habits is that I really like

to close my eyes when I sing.

So, when you see me
singing, I'm literally, like,

sleepwalking and
singing at the same time.

I just need some duct
tape on my eyes, though,

and I'll be fine.

I am still working on it,

but, like, by battle round,
my eyes will be open.

When you get on that stage
during the battle rounds,

you're selling your
song, your idea.

You're selling yourself
to the audience,

and it's all in emotions. Okay.

Barry Manilow told
me one time, he said,

"Were you smiling?" He
was in the control room.

I said, "No."

He said, "In the
lyric, if you smile,

it comes out and you
get more of that emotion."

So, when it merits it, smile.

Got you. Okay, cool.

I definitely made the
right choice of Reba,

without question.

Just hearing, you know,
all of these tips and tricks

from somebody that's
been in the industry that long,

like, it gave me a
little more confidence.

So, I'm just going to go

and deliver the best
performance that I possibly can.

I turned for both of you

because there was something
very special in your voices.

You both have a great look.

You're individuals.

And then, when
you sang together,

I couldn't believe how
well your voices blend.

to go in and out like you were,

completely different octave,

to take that first note,

higher note before that.
