My name is Raquel Trinidad,

I'm 23 years old, and
I'm from Tampa, Florida,

but I'm currently
living in Miami.

I love living here.

It's really, really
energetic and lively,

and that's kind of how I
am, so it feels like home.

I'm definitely a free spirit.

I consider myself
kind of a hippie.

I'm also an artist, and
my specialty is glass art.

[ Glass shatters ]

The breaking of
the glass definitely

relieves a lot of my tension.

It keeps me tranquil when
I'm usually constantly energetic.

But singing is my
main focus, for sure.

Ever since I was little,

my whole family
has been musical.

My dad actually
plays the congas.

He's always the head
of the drum circles,

and I like to sing
along with him.

I'm really proud of you.
You're my baby girl. I love you.

When I was 11 years old,

I got the opportunity to do
some singing voiceover work

on "Dora the Explorer."

It was actually a special, and
Shakira was a feature on it.

Ever since then,
I've never stopped.

About a month after I turned


to try to pursue
my music career.

I spent about two years
gigging around Miami

trying to play my
original songs.

You kind of just feel like
you're singing in the background

sometimes and trying
to get their attention

while they're doing
their own thing.

So, I'm currently a driver
for a rideshare company.

[ Horn honking ]

Hey. Hi!

Usually, I'll play
some of my own music

to try to promote
it. We jam out.

I see them dancing
in the backseat,

and I love that.

I feel like I'm helping
the community,

and I also have
a lot of free time,

and I write when
there's nothing to do.

I have so much fun
at work every day,

but, of course, this has
always been my dream

and my passion.

For my blind audition,

I'll be singing "I Wish"
by Stevie Wonder.

So, that's definitely
channeling my soulful aura.

After so many years of working
to be an independent artist,

"The Voice" is by far
the biggest opportunity

I've ever had in my life.

started playing together

in church about 22 years ago.



and the force of his voice
and guitar playing met us...

It was just this
magic that happened.

The name "The Joy
Reunion" comes from the idea

that we were
reunited with the joy

of making music.

Throughout our
collective history

of playing in other
bands, in our own bands,

we strived to be rock stars,

and we got jaded by all
the rejection and the nos.

I really felt
rejuvenated musically

when the three of us
started singing together.

Even though we're not a part

of the country
scene in Nashville,

being local in
Southern California,

we pride ourselves in calling
ourself California country,

because California country
is a little more poppy.

And so, we are
all about harmony.

When the three of us
are singing together,

there's so much
passion and energy.

We're here to prove that
three voices are better than one.

I like to say that we
are a chosen family,

and these guys are
extended uncles to my kids.

I always say they're
like the Uncle Jesse

and Uncle Joey.

My kids are supportive
because they feel

like they're on this
journey with us.

from Clifton, New Jersey,

and I'm 13 years old.

I've been waiting
till I turned 13

to be on this show,

and I'm so, so honored
to be here. Wow!

Welcome to "The Voice."

Ever since I could
speak, I've been singing.

I'm in choir and vocal lessons.

I did talent shows
for my school.

So, music has been there
for me throughout my life.

It's really helped
me as an escape.

I was born with an eye condition
called double elevator palsy.

That basically means the
brain starts to register that eye

as a non-working eye.

And slowly, the vision just
kind of starts going away.

The doctor suggested
surgery, and it was very scary

to have her go
under the knife at 7,

but she healed beautifully.

The surgery, it went
super successful.

I regained most
of my vision back.

I'm so proud.

You've made it this far,

and that's a huge
accomplishment.

If you haven't
heard of "The Voice,"

then you're probably
living under a rock.

It's just super cool,
especially now that I'm on it

after I've been
waiting for so long.

Seeing Carter Rubin win
was super inspirational for me,

especially because
he was so young.

This is so unbelievably amazing.

I literally thought I
was turning around

for like a 24-year-old,
so I was like,

"Why are we not turning around?
What's happening?" Me, too.

I have won the show
with a 14-year-old before,

and to be this young

and have that kind
of gift, job well done.

I started playing the fiddle

when I was 3 1/2 years old.

It was a one-eighth-size
fiddle, so it was like this big,

and I was about that big.

Around seven or eight,

I played "The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno."

I remember my legs
were just shaking.

I was scared to death,
but it opened some doors.

A few years later, I
opened up for Ricky Skaggs.

After the show, he just asked me

if I ever played the Opry,
and I was like, "No, I haven't."

And he said, "Well,
we gotta change that."

The next Saturday,
we were at the Opry.

It's just hard to explain
how special that stage is.

To watch my son,

special memory for me.

We talk about the
fiddle all the time,

My parents, they were
working in the church,

but recently they've
just dropped everything

to be my full-time managers.

I feel really blessed I
was born into a family

that is so big about

My mom came here from the
Philippines when she was 7.

and my grandparents

ground up when they came here.

big for not just me,

but for my whole family.

was troubling for me

because I didn't
understand that I was,

and so at age 15, when I came
out to my dad that I was g*y,

words like that, despite our culture

and the ideals that
were instilled to him,

it really showed me
that he does care for me

made me confident

in other parts of my life.

I started taking voice lessons,
going out and playing open mics,

as an artist and just flourish.

For a long time, I
didn't really think

that I was capable of
becoming a popular singing artist.

I didn't really believe in myself
as much then as I do now.

Absolutely.

I come from a
very musical family.

Singing and music is
definitely, like, in the genes.

But when I was young,
we weren't allowed to listen

to any music outside
of Christian music.

When I went to college,

all of these doors and
windows opened up.

It was like a flooding of
all kinds of music for me.

It changed my entire world.

I started to perform
at live music clubs,

and I was offered a chance

to perform with a
jazz trio in Russia.

It was an incredible
culture shock.

You know, New York City,
we got the "whoop-whoops"

and we got the cheers,

and everybody is
incredibly involved.

Russia was very
different from that.

It was kind of
just like pan face,

just like serious and, like,
soft clap after each song.

I've had the incredible
opportunity of performing

really all around the world.

But this is the biggest
opportunity I've had.

Turning a chair would
change everything.

My name is Lucas O'Reilly.

I'm 20 years old, and I'm
from Newport, Rhode Island.

At a young age, my
parents got me a kid's guitar.

And right around 6, I started
a Suzuki method of guitar.

Nylon string, not using
a pick, and very formal.

When I was younger, I didn't
really want to be a singer.

And I think my identity
as a guitar player

was a really big
part of my life.

When I really started
to call myself a singer,

I was playing in a garage band

and we wanted to do some
performances that summer

and we needed a singer.

So they were like,
"Sing us a song,"

and I sang them a song
that I'd been singing in my car.

And they were like,
"That sounded great.

Like, you should totally sing."

My first real public
performance was when I was 18,

and we performed
to a good little crowd

of our close friends.

I was more nervous than I
have ever been in my life.

I was shaking.

I realized that night that
I wanted to be on a stage

and perform for
the rest of my life.

For the past couple of years,

I've performed outside
of the diner that I work at.

Last year, I had the
opportunity to perform

in front of James Taylor.

I've listened to James Taylor
since I was a very young child,

and for my blind audition, I'm
singing "Carolina in My Mind"

by James Taylor,
which is very fitting.

I really am new to singing,
and it's only been two years

since I decided to
pursue it full time.

And if I do get a
chance to be on a team,

it would be a confirmation
that I made the right decision.

I live with my partner,
Seth, and our two kids...

Seth and I... we actually
met through a music ad

for, like, playing
music together,

and we fell in love
writing songs together.

I've always been one
of those nerdy guys

that wrote my
poems and my songs,

but I'm not much of a singer.

She filled that
puzzle piece for me.

How could you not fall in love
with her voice? It's incredible.

My day job is being a caregiver

for patients that have autism

and other developmental
and intellectual disabilities.

This park really is beautiful.

I sing with my patients.

I love helping others

because people have always
been there for me when I needed it.

Around 11, I started
having seizures.

The doctors put me on medication

that made my hair
really brittle and patchy.

For a kid, it's not
easy being bald.

At that time, I would always
just listen to music on repeat

in my room, singing,

and it just kind of
boosted my confidence.

Over the last five years,

I've become a background
singer for other bands,

just been singing with
anyone that'll have me.
