hi welcome to zoom today is the

beginning of a new season of Zoom shows

filled with activities and ideas sent in

by kids like you we also have some new

cast members Caroline and I are joined

by five new Zoomers but don't worry

you'll be able to see the zoomas from

the past when you visit the zoom website

we know it'll be a little strange at

first not to see all the old familiar

faces but we know you like watching the

new Zoomers so come on let's Zoom

up here's a game called Follow the

Leader relay emailed to us by Caitlyn K

to follow my command and run to the cone

and back at the same time so if I say

hop on one foot then you have to hop on

one foot and and if I say crab crawl

then you have to crab crawl and if I say

cartwheel then youd have to cartwheel

but when I say freeze you have to stop

in your tracks and wait for next command

here's a great way to make a scary

insect into a tasty treat this recipe

for edible spiders is sent in by Kristen

Kai of Salt Lake City Utah here's what

you

do make two crafers and spread some

peanut butter on

okay then take pretzel sticks and put

four on each side on one of the crackers

for the legs so one two three

down all right using peanut butter dab

top of the peanut butter specks for the

did you know that you can balance ba*ls

in a stream of moving air well Kayla s

of Iowa City Iowa told us how to do it

all you need is a hair dryer and a small

lightweight ball like a ping pong ball

just turn your hair dryer on be sure to

turn it on cool and face it towards the

ceiling put a small ball in the ceiling

moving air and walk watch it's just

close there you can even try moving your

hair dryer from left to right and the

ball still stays in the Stream of moving

air you're probably wondering why the

air doesn't should flow the ball away

you know that the air from the hair

dryer is rolling on the ball and pushing

it up but did you know that gravity from

the earth is also pulling the ball down

that's why the ball doesn't just float

up into

space so do you know what's keeping the

ball from falling off from side to side

it's got to be the fast air coming from

the blow dryer I'll show you

why if I try to balance this ruler on my

fingers my hand will be holding it up

and gravity will be pulling down on it

but there's nothing to keep the ruler

from falling from side to side so it

just Falls

but the ball doesn't fall because the

air from the blow dryer is moving very

fast around the edges of the ball the

air pushes on the sides of the ball and

keeps the ball from falling the reason I

know that there's air on the sides of

the ball is because I can feel

it that's so cool yeah okay you want to

try to Sure too

long ready y now second oh wow oh you

see a CH that's awesome yeah look they

changing the position W one fell cool oh

do you want in here yeah want to try

with um a different sure thing okay

let's try it with this ball

B wao you want me to catch it and put it

back on that look F oh no want to throw

it to me then I'll sh**t it in the air

okay W I got it that is so cool

yeah it looks like there's nothing even

hitting it or anything just closed up

it's like there's a box there on the

ball the air the air like comes up and

goes around the ball then forms again at

the top like separates and that's so

cool want to try it with the purple ball

wow wonderful fire get it but uh

this might be easier to understand if

you tried it at home so experiment with

it then send your ideas to

interaction today's member of the Zoom

team volunteers at a wildlife center

almost every day caring for injured and

orphaned animals let's meet Tracy a of

Seattle Washington and take a look at

some of the critters she takes care of

[Music]

my name is Tracy and I volunteer at s

Wildlife where we rehab injured and

orphaned animals staring Wildlife is a

place where we we accept all animals

there's no animals that we turn away

they're either orphaned or they're

injured this is the busiest time of the

year spring the baby birds will start

coming in I feeding Darlings which come

in quite a bit and you just kind of want

to go back and forth with all these guys

they can get um very dirty in their cage

cuz they are in with many other birds so

usually we brush them off and clean them

with um with the toothbrush we don't use

any soap or anything this is a prairie

fcon and we only feed them um quail and

we we use tunks because um we don't want

them used to the human hands

it's quite a big job to um feed all

these animals because they need to be

fed every day for with fresh food and we

have to provide it this fond the mom um

it was k*lled she she might have been

hit by a car if he makes it um which it

looks like he he will um he will be

released next

spring I do enjoy doing this but it's

more it's not just one person that saves

them everybody who works here help helps

a lot it's not just one person it's

everybody

these are our skunks these guys don't

spray yet you have to pick up these guys

a certain way because um you have to

tuck their tail in between their legs

cuz they will not spray

themselves these are um baby opossums

how we get like these big batches is the

mother gets hit by a car and somebody

stops and finds them in her

pouch this is a beaver and I got to go

put him in the TB so he can take a off

well this beber he um he has to get um

he has to get a bath before and after he

has um done the eating because they

don't go to the bathroom in their cage

they will only go in the water he he's

probably one of my favorite guys and he

is a wild animal and he will have to go

back into the wild but we have to make

sure that there's no live trapping or

any trapping where we release

them well believe it or not it's feeding

time again I got to go bye

yourself cupcakes these are Carly

cupcakes cuz they look like me Carly we

make cupcakes and frosted them we

decorate the cupc cakes to look just

like me red hair blue eyes and a big

smile the bow is just a small piece of

fruit leather pinched in the middle for

boys you could use a bow as a bow tie

let's see how you do making your face

into a cupcake it's fun that's really

cool I know it's so cute I like to see

our face like if you make your own you

can see your face and everything be kind

of weird like making your face

this Mary Elizabeth G of tallahi Alabama

calls this cool phon dancing raisins all

you need to make it is a tall clear

glass some club soda and a raisin cut in

half pour some club soda into a

glass oh right it's really fizy it's

cool then drop in a half a

raisin wait for about 20 to 30 seconds

and watch what happens to the raisin

this works best when there's a lot of

bubbles in the club soda but it won't

work if the club soda is

flat oh there it goes look at that one

oh cool it went right up to the top and

then came goes up and down it's a Dan

thing oh wow this one looks like it has

more bubbles that's probably one the

reason why the raisin float to the top

is because the bble stuck to the side of

the raisin and make the raisin more

buoyant buoyant means that something

floats more easily the bobles make the

raisin float the way a light jacket

makes a person float we're going to see

if we can get something heavier than a

half of a raisin to

float we've got lots of things grapes

popcorn kernels and whole raisins do you

think these three things will

float I think that um only

I think that a whole raisin might work

because um it had like it has kind of

like a ro texture and there are places

where the um club soda can fit into the

little cracks yeah but uh a popcorn

kernel is pretty smooth and I don't

think it will work because there's no

places for that with the grape it's me I

agree with you because I don't think it

make to me I don't think it makes a

difference if it's in half mhm I think

still it has those little things where

the BBS can stick to it I think the

weight might um have something to do

with it yeah so I'm not sure though we

can start with the grapes all right so

take

one okay here we go I don't think it'll

work wow so oh my gosh it work it works

it's like a kind of like a buoy you know

that's so weird it was boring awesome

that it was so fast it was just we

justra is like and that it's faster than

the Ravin going it's big and it doesn't

have any creases oh that's so

cool take that want to try you can do a

popcorn Kel I don't think this will work

maybe it will I didn't think the grape

would work I thought the grape was way

too big and smooth that's really cool I

can't believe the grap right yeah I

don't think this going to work yeah Nei

do I just staying at the bottom oh wo

it's so cool go I these the grapes

everything's working work a lot better

than the raisin all of them worked yeah

I know that's awesome I know okay they

work a lot better than the raisin gra

okay here we go I don't think this

works that we said it on both of them I

know I think I think it might

work do you think no it's not

working no it can

think I think it dance like goes slow

yeah that's what it's supposed to all

them work yeah let's try them all

together

okay this is awesome and they're totally

different sizes and different textures

I'm surprised they all work I like I

like the grape best yeah me too cuz it's

really big and it flies up there go and

it's always the first one to go

up look so big oh there's the popor if

you look over here looks huge yeah I

know that's fantastic it works really

well try this at home think of a

question you'd like to answer like can

something heavier than a grape float

using

bubbles will a walnut or a super ball

float make a prediction then test it out

and send your results to zoom got a

Phenom to present a wicked sweet

experiment an idea that'll F or open up
