monilia Virginia sent us directions to

make homemade granola bars to make them

you'll need quick

oats whole wheat

flour

raisins

salt baking

powder

cinnamon melted

butter

honey vanilla and two eggs lightly

beaten first mix all the wet ingredients

together 4 tbsp of melted

butter half a cup of

honey m m- I love how

ripples one teaspoon of

vanilla and two

eggs just mix them around a little it

feels all thick cuz of the

[Music]

honey then in another Bowl mix the dry

ingredients

four cups of quick oats that's a lot of

Oats half a cup of whole wheat

flour 1/4 a teaspoon of

salt half a teaspoon of baking

powder and 2 tasps of

cinnamon I love that

smell and then mix them all around

then gradually add the dry ingredients

to the wet

ones mix it

mixing and then the last

part just mix it together

fun I like mixing them and then add in

half a cup of

raisins then spread the mixture whoops

onto a greased 9 by 13 in

pan stump it all

in spread it around

going make sure to cover up the

holes put the granola in the oven

350° for 15

minutes and then here's one that's

already been

cooked put it to

co and then when they're cooked and

cool can cut them into bars like

old there are lots of things I like to

do like playing socle with my

friends best of all is playing the

guitar I live in a little town called

paracho high up in the mountains of

Mexico people say paracho is local or

crazy about

guaras we've been making them for

hundreds of

years here you either make guaras and

play

them for me the best part of living here

is Fiesta time yes

every August we celebrate the guaros or

guitar

makers and we also have competitions for

the best guitar

player tonight I'm competing in the kids

competition this is my teacher we call

him Prophet he's helping me

[Music]

practice learning to play all the notes

is hard but then you have to turn the

notes into beautiful music that's what

the judges are looking

[Music]

for I like to imagine that the music is

telling a

[Music]

story Dr says it's important to have

dreams and to work hard to make those

dreams

happen my dream is to be a great guar

player

someday so I better do a good job at the

[Music]

competition oh I've got butterflies in

my stomach

make it's the guitar you would need an

empty paper towel roll some rubber bands

and an empty tissue box try it out

Minnesota here's how you make

it cut a hole in the side of a box like

this then take an empty paper tow roll

and put it in the hole this just makes

it look like a guitar tape it down tap

tap tap tape it

wait I'll just cut it up in strips

oh then the other

side okay okay then take some of her

bands and put it around the Box

bring it up

I think it makes a sound because the

rubber bands vibrate yeah and the

humming of the rubber bands makes a

sound mhm see you can see it vibrating

too awesome and then if you pull the

rubber bands tight I'll just pull one

right

to figure figure out what would happen

if we made a guitar using boxes that

have different shapes here's what we

made earlier with the cereal

earlier using an oatmeal

box she try on this end I think you can

do both ends

yeah you play this one see see if we can

compare that's much

higher yeah I think it's I think it's

higher because it's stretched right here

stret more cuz on this

side this is like taller than that so

the rubber bands have to go an extra

distance to get over and this one is

like really short right there yep and I

also think that it's like

the the two rubber bands on the ends are

the

lowest because it's a circle and at the

top of the circle it's higher this is it

has to get yeah it has to get stretched

out at the top more than on the sides

cuz it's like it reaches to the top and

it's really high right there and then it

like decreases going down and so these

two are lowest and these two are

highest try to make a guitar out of a

shoe box and then test it out and send

your result to

some funny clouds huh and this person is

saying yeah they spell out the word Zoom

wow wow they're good drawers I know and

the house is really good I like their

little sixy figures maybe they're going

to be a cartoonist when they grow up

that'd be cool well I've got a

letter dear Zoom have you ever been in a

school spelling beef if not you're lucky

my school name is Greenwood fourth and

fifth graders are chosen to participate

in a spelling be I'm in fifth grade this

is the second time I'm in it last year

wasn't that bad but this year Greenwood

has many more kids watching 560 pairs of

eyes on me it's so freaky spell word

wrong loads of laughter after you feel

so down I hate bees like this Kelly ask

only Maryland I've been in spell these a

lot at my school I won five years

straight but then I lost because they

got harder as you keep going

up first grade the first the first word

I had to get was

like cat or something and I was like

okay C but um then they got harder and

harder and harder do you know what word

you last die um I think it

was

Superior yeah sing these can I've never

been one but I can just imagine if you

if you messed up on a word and you're

like oh je you felt so I've never been

in the spelling be but I think even if

schools are going to have spelling bees

they shouldn't make it so that it's you

know competition yeah and that if like

if somebody spells a word wrong that

kids are even allowed to laugh because

if I was sitting up on a stage and I had

like a bunch of people looking at me and

I spelled the word like they was

Superior wrong I wouldn't want 560 kids

sitting at the out there like like Ah

that's like really mean I was in a

spelling be that got chewed to the big

one and um I lost in the word restaurant

but now I know how to spell restaurant I

never forget it anymore it's weird

s hi I'm 13 and I'm a member of the

children's ballet theater CBT has been

really great for me in many ways it has

allowed me to get more experience in

ballet I have gotten better at many

skills since I started I get to train

with a really great instructor and I've

made many new friends the reason I love

ballet so much is because when you dance

it's a way of expressing yourself I love

move moving to the music I love being

graceful and it's also very good

exercise I us to take ballet I was in

isora Duncan anybody ever hear that no

no well it's not ballet where you have

to go to the bar and learn all these

like yeah um play and things like that

it's like a graceful kind of thing like

no B is graceful but like you dance

around and stuff it was really fun I

went to The Nutcracker and they had like

little kids played the mice and even

they were like really really good

um what would you call what's the word

Bas and then they had like the older

people come out and I was like sitting

there

like I don't think people can really

move their body in that way that's like

and this is the machine that I created

this device is made up of a bunch of

simple

machines first you turn the wheel and

axle letting this ball bearing fall down

in clined plane into the

funnel then it falls onto the lever

causing it to fall down letting the

other lever fall down and hit those two

marbles these two

marbles roll around around there and hit

that mouse

trap mouse trap pulls this string

through these two

pulley lifting this piece of

clay which releases these three

marbles they roll

around this

screw through the spring and hit this

car car rolls down

and hits the mouse trap mouse trap pulls

this string and the roar band off of the

floor which Cho this ball into that

hoop all right we're going to do it one

more time
