zoomo Amy M from elot City Maryland

emailed us the idea to make funny

pictures of your friends and family by

gluing photos of their heads onto silly

bodies you cut out from magazine

Amy Says there loads of laughs and make

great

keepsakes what you'll need is thin

cardboard like the kind that you find in

the back of a paper pad photos of your

friends or family and old

magazines I'm going to use a photo of

Lisa the head's already cut

out okay then skim through your

magazines and try to find a body that

you think would look kind of funny

I found this

one I like this one because I think it

looks kind of active and I think it

looks kind of cool I already cut that

out

too I'm doing it kind of big so that

when I glue it on to here I can just cut

the cardboard out

easier so then you glue the head of your

friend onto the

body so first I'll glue Elisa's

head

she looks so cute this is a good one for

Alisa cuz the girl in the photo has

funky hair like

her okay now I glue the

back too

sticky okay and let lay it on the

[Music]

cardboard such a

cutie wait for your glue to

dry I got the glue stick so it should be

dry

already then you cut the picture out

with the

cardboard I'm going to cut it a little

closer

too uh it's going to be kind of hard but

okay now I have Alisa's funny

photo Laura and Jack W of wsy

Massachusetts sent us a cool idea on how

to make fridge magnets we thought that

it'd be really cool if we turned our

photo into a

magnet and it's really easy to

do just glue a magnet onto the back of

the cardboard you can find the magnets

at your local office supply store I'm

going to use the

peel kind of

[Music]

magnet okay so you stick that

off all right I'm going to use another

one cuz that doesn't cover enough

[Music]

okay and now you have your

magnet now you smack it onto your

refrigerator here are some other magnets

that I made here's Caroline and I like

that photo to it's cute and here's

Claudia got like a little

body you can find the directions for

funny family fridge magnets at the zoomd

section at the zoom website and if you

don't have a computer there's probably

one in the community center in your

neighborhood my name is Alexandra liby

and I'm almost 10 and I live in New York

City I have diabetes but stop I feel low

okay when you have diabetes your body

doesn't produce a hormone called

insulin the body needs insulin to grow

this meter read the glucose or sugar in

my

blood sometimes I can feel when my blood

sugar is

low I get a little

shaky when I am low I need sugar to get

my blood sugar

up nobody knows why a person gets

diabetes it isn't contagious I didn't

catch it from someone and my friends

can't catch it from me it just happens

to some people look at

them this is how my day begins morning

Alex time to test every morning I test

to sandwich insulin I

need a normal blood sugar is about

100 my blood sugar can be anywhere

between 30 and

5:30 if I didn't take any in my blood

sugar would go very high it would become

dangerous for

me in the morning and in the night my

mom draws up my

shots there are different kinds of

insulin that act over different time

periods my mom mixes insulin to imitate

what my body would

do I get insulin through shots I need

four shots every

day

during the day I drop my own

shots sometimes my food has to be

measured out to match the amount of

insulin I've

taken since my blood sugar is high I

have to wait till the insulin brings my

blood sugar down before I eat I have

plenty of time to feed frisky my friend

told me that animals can have diabetes

also but frisky is okay she can eat

whatever she

wants isn't she

cute I have to eat a certain amount of

these foods to keep my body in

balance if I eat more my blood sugar

will go high if I eat less my blood

sugar would go low isn't my sister

Erica's imitation of frisky funny do you

think that looks anything like

frisky when I I go out I have to take my

diabetes supplies with me I have to take

my testing gear I need some juice or

candy and some chips or crackers it's a

lot of work to keep diabetes

regulated even when I do the normal

things like kids do I still have to

think about what I

eat to my friends it's just another

thing I

have

dream remember when Alisa and I tried to

see how many drops of water we could get

to stay on a penny and a

quarter

4 5 well the kids from the park school

in Brooklyn Massachusetts tried this out

they got an average of 43 drops on a

penny after they tested the penny they

estimated how many drops they could get

on a quarter they thought that the

quarter was a little less than twice the

size of the pennies so they estimated

that they could get about 61 drops on

the

quarters when they tested the quarters

they got an average of 60 drops that's

really

close the kids thought that the drops of

water piled up on the pennies and

quarters because the water sticks

together they said this is called

surface

tension experiment with this at home see

if all the pennies can hold the same

amount of water or try it with diam

Winnipeg for a science project for

school I did behavior modification I

experimented on my fish what I did was I

put a pinch of food on the top of the

water in the tank and Shone a light on

them at the same time they came up for

the food I did this for a few weeks

eventually they just came up for the

light oh wow that's cool that's awesome

how you can train animals to do that I

wonder what else you can do because they

get so used to like the light and KN

food's up there when the lights's there

that they just go up whenever you shine

made a cool Discovery take two pieces of

white paper and draw a spooky ghost with

black marker on

one stare at the ghost for about 30

seconds and then quickly look at a blank

piece of white paper Zoom along with us

stare at The Ghost and then stare at the

white piece of paper see what happens

okay let's start do you think you're

going to see probably maybe white yeah

because ghosts are usually white and

maybe his eyes will be black oh cool

paper I saw it Oh I saw it too there it

is I saw it it's like glowing on the

sides and it is white that was cool oh

okay when you stare at these pictures

for a long time the pictures that you

see after you look at something white is

called an after image when the colors of

the after image and the colors of the

original pictures are mixed together it

makes a doll gray color so if you mix

the green color from the flag with the

color of its after image red you get

gray try doing this at home and send

your discoveries to
