the blind auditions continued.

This season, there's just
so much talent out there.

It's mind-blowing.

And I believe
that I can even become better...

Daly: Here's where the teams stand.

Adam picked up four artists,
bringing his total to nine.

Blake landed two artists,
bringing his total to seven.

Cee Lo added three singers,
giving him seven.

And Christina scored two,
giving her a total of nine.

Tonight, our four superstar
coaches continue their search

for the most talented singers
in the world.

I am looking for the best talent,

and I will not compromise.

Daly: With the coaches' teams
almost half full,

they're becoming more selective

about who they push their buttons for.

You're not gonna push the button

unless you're gonna
really endorse what's happening.

Daly: As the pressure mounts,

the artists will put
everything on the line.

I'm 33 years old, and
I'm from the Bronx, New York.

I currently work as a receptionist.

I am a single mother...

I got pregnant at the age of 17.

And it was hard, but
I don't have any regrets.

Christina: What an ambitious song to go for.

I commend you to have
the courage and the bravery

You had some great moments.

You had some strong notes
that you held out.

Maybe it was nerves.
It just felt a little shaky.

The vibrato was going a little fast.

Sometimes you had a tone

that sounded just like Whitney, actually.

You had those moments. But it just...

were enough to make me
just hesitate on the button,

but you did a great job.

And that's a really hard song to sing.

You do have a strong voice,

was just probably the approach.

a little too strong.

Next up, a singer who's put
everything on the line

for this performance.

Collin: My name's Collin Mcloughlin.

I'm 24 years old,
and I'm from Bedford, New York.

- Are you all set?
- I hope so.

I enrolled in NYU's
music business master's program

to get a degree in music business

and ultimately to work at a label.

I was gonna be one
of the first people in my family

to have ever gone to grad school.

I'm excited.
While I was there,

I was still trying
to do my music on the side,

and finally it got to a point

where I felt like
I couldn't really do both.

So, I told my parents
that I was gonna drop out

and I needed to pursue my dream,

and my parents were very upset with me.

My mom was crying. My dad was upset.

They didn't believe that this
was the right thing to do.

So I moved home, left sort of
everything I had going on,

and lived in my childhood bedroom.

It was the last thing I wanted
to do, but I had to do it.

What were you thinking?

I was... I mean,
I... I was doing what I thought

I needed to do, which is pursue my dream.

What did you think, mom?
You hear that news.

I was very sad, and I admit it freely.

- Were you blindsided by it?
- I was blindsided,

and I just thought,
"one more year, and you're done."

"One more year, and you can do whatever."

And he was adamant.

Would it validate
this whole leaving school

if one of coaches turns around?

Absolutely.

[ Sighs deeply ] Man.

I'm auditioning for "The Voice"
to show my parents

that following my gut
was the right thing to do.

It would definitely help me
define who I am as an artist

and give me that chance
to have instruction from coaches

who are obviously established
and really successful.

I've sacrificed everything for music.

I've abandoned a professional
degree in grad school.

I've moved home.

If nobody turns for me,
maybe my parents were right.

Maybe my gut was not right in this case.

Music helped to heal our next artist,

a 17-year-old girl who's hoping

to move the coaches with her voice.

So, tell me about Joselyn
as a little girl.

Woman: Joselyn is a survivor.
She was born premature.

For the first years of her life,

it was just in and out of hospitals.

I was born with neurological deficiencies.

Around the age of 5, I was falling behind.

All the other kids were speaking,

and I didn't really speak at all.

We decided to take her to a specialist.

And the doctor said, "try music."

- He prescribed music.
- He prescribed music.

She just slowly started
coming out of this shell.

After the doctor prescribed music,

we went right to the store
to buy a Barbie karaoke.

It really helped me develop and grow.

I would lock myself in my room,
sing about four hours every day.

And I just blossomed after that.

This is it, kiddo. You look beautiful.

Be true to yourself.
You're going to do this.

I really want to be on "The Voice"

because I really believe
that through my music

as it saved me, it can really
be a therapy to others.

This is the performance of my lifetime.

Next up is Benji from Orlando, Florida,

an artist who's used to taking risks.

Benji: Ever since I was a kid,
I loved music

but I always wanted to go
as fast as I could.

Right after college,

I had the opportunity
to race formula cars.

So, I moved to California
to be a racecar driver.

How are you doing, Benji?

- What's up, man?
- What's happening?

So, Benji, one of your
first loves was racing.

Tell me about that dream.

I loved it, man. It was a huge
joy of mine. It still is.

How many people have had the opportunity

to look out of a helmet
coming down a straightaway

in a formula car?

I mean, that's an experience
I'll never forget,

but racing is something

where you do have to
kind of have a ton of money

[laughs] to kind of make it,
and I ran out of money.

- That's a problem sometimes.
- It is a problem sometimes.

So, you went all in on the music
thing right after the racing thing.

That's exactly it.

It was really this decision to say,

"hey, I want to do music
the rest of my life,"

that really got me over racing.

And "The Voice" really piqued my interest

because it wasn't just about
kind of being glitzy

and being glamorous.

It was really about having a great voice.

And that really spoke to me.

I was like, "I would love to do that."

If the coaches turned around
for me, it would be awesome,

but I'm a little frightened.
I'm like, "oh, man."

"I've never really been in front
of this many people before."

On the other hand, it's like
you're doing what you love,

and if music is in the future,
this is how it has to happen.

I'm gonna go out there,
and I'm gonna k*ll it.

Ever since the first time I saw the show,

I was dying to be on it.

I knew that it was my show.

and I went, "that's my show!"

This is what it would feel like
if a coach turned around for me.

That's... I have a feeling I'm

If I got to be on a team,
it would be something

of inspiration to my students.

This is something that
defines me. It always has.

thing I responded to negatively

was just, like, the...
it was the lack of control.

There was... there was a couple
of great moments

and there was a lot of good moments

and then a few okay moments. It
just was kind of inconsistent.

You know what I mean?

But... but never any terrible moments.

- No, it was always good.

It just didn't have...
it didn't have that spark.

My name is Mycle Wastman.

I'm from Seattle, Washington,
and I'm 40 years old.

I was raised by my grandparents.
My dad died of bone cancer.

And my mother died of
respiratory disorder.

It was a dark period
just trying to go through that,

but my grandfather was there for me.

He just passed away basically
a week and a half ago.

I know he's up in heaven
right now watching me, so...

I tried a lot of other things
before I really got into music.

I joined the military,
studied mechanical engineering.

Ended up doing construction.

Just really didn't find, you know,

the happiness
that I was really looking for.

The only thing that really
made me happy was music.

Whoo!

Seeing my parents die
as young as they did,

there's no guarantees in life,

so you just got to do what you love.

You know, music is what I love.
It's my passion.
