Hello, one and all, and welcome back

to another thrilling episode
of "Dimension 20: Neverafter."

I'm your humble dungeon
master Brennan Lee Mulligan.

With me as always are our Intrepid Heroes.

Say hi, Intrepid Heroes.

- [Intrepid Heroes] Hi, Intrepid Heroes.

- Last we left off, the
heroes of the Neverafter,

those fairy tales of
these times of shadow,

more monstrous than ever
before, ventured into the mines

beneath the village of Tuffeton

here in a new 'once upon a time'.

Having the veil peeled back to
all of the various instances

Having the veil peeled back to
all of the various instances

of these haunted tales,
our heroes venture forth

with the knowledge and
some of the artifacts

gained from their previous
lives into a more twisted,

haunted vision of these
lands of myth and fairy tale.

Descending into the shadows
to face an arachnid entity

Descending into the shadows
to face an arachnid entity

of unspecified characteristics
based on the communication

between another band of
adventurers that seek

to be gathering stories, contacted

through Mother Goose's book,
the fabled Scheherazade

reaching out with the knowledge
that certain instances

of magic across realms had been seen.

Indeed, a tapestry holding some
image of the Princess Elody

had been spied in these other stories.

Indeed, it seems that
gateways and portals abound.

Arcane princesses move between the realms

as fairies conspire to enact
their vision of things to come

and perhaps other forces still,

wolves and stepmothers

and perhaps even geese.

- [gasps] One of them was good.

[cast laughing]

- [Brennan] One of them was good.

- One of them was so soft and so good.

- Behind you are two geese.

One is good and one's evil.
- Yeah.

- [laughs] Move upon the
shape of stories themselves.

- [laughs] Move upon the
shape of stories themselves.

But we concern ourselves at this moment

not with matters cosmic or grand in scale.

No, something much more tangible
awaits you in this place.

No, something much more tangible
awaits you in this place.

Traversing web deep in the darkness.

[cast wailing creepily]

- [Siobhan] I don't like it here, guys.

- [Ally] Freaky.

- [Brennan] But thankfully-
- [Ally] Oh.

- Due to the horrors you have endured

and the lives you have shed,

passed through, and reemerged from,

spiders are not the only horrifying thing

crawling in this dark cave.

And in fact, you have the drop
on these crawling arachnids.

And in fact, you have the drop
on these crawling arachnids.

We go right into initiative,

and I'll also remind everyone here

about the surprised condition.

When creatures are surprised,
these creatures cannot move

or take an action on the
first turn of combat.

So this is actually going
to be a surprise round.

- Cool.
- We are going to begin

at the top of the initiative
order with Rosamund du Prix.

- [Siobhan] Okay, I'm looking around

and looking at utter darkness.

- [Brennan] Yeah, I will say that

darkvision is only this side of the table.

Everyone over here, you are taking

the most careful steps possible

kind of using the fluttering noise

of Pinocchi-Crow or I guess-
- Spinocchio.

- Spinocchio, the spider familiar

that is sort of giving you
the right bands to step on.

And every time you step forward,

you are taking a step into utter darkness

hoping that you touch the right strand

but honestly touch any strand at all

because the other option
is to fall into darkness.

- Great, so I'm gonna ask my friends

in front of me who can see things,

how far in front of you are these spiders?

- I would say about 40 feet,
and there's not a big one yet.

- Fantastic, okay well...
- [Zac] Pretty big to me.

[Brennan laughing]
- Okay...

- [Emily] I'm still waiting
on that big delivery.

- I, hm, well, I don't want to see 'em

but I also gotta see 'em.

So I'm gonna pull out my spindle

and use whatever fairy
magic is in the spindle

and cast Faerie Fire in this 40 feet

in front of the barrier
so it's a 20-foot cube.

I think I can get all
three of these spiders,

but I don't know if I would
be able to since it's dark.

- [Brennan] So this is
a 20-foot cube here.

- [Siobhan] Okay, great. So
let's just get those two.

And then if they fail their dex save,

any attack roll against an
affected creature or object

has advantage if the attacker can see it.

- So we're gonna roll these saves

for these two spiders here.

The DC for you is, I believe, a 14.

- It's a 14, yeah.
- Okay.

- [Lou] Really accents the...

- That one is [mimics expl*si*n] hit

by this beautiful,
scintillating Faerie Fire

and the objects, meaning the web,

so the web here glows with light.

So these spiders are
still in total darkness,

but this one is hit by
the spell and outlined.

And this one is still totally visible

because it's within the range
of the illuminated strands.

- Great, actually, I don't
even think I'm even gonna move

because I'm in the darkness
and I can't see anything.

- Yeah, and you're within range.

- And I am within range of everybody so-

- I will say, too, that
movement in this place

is always a risky proposition.
- [Siobhan] Right.

- Because of the nature of the strands.

And you happen to have
your boots squarely on,

like you have just enough of
your boot on a sticky strand

on either side to kind of like,
be like, okay, I'm standing.

- I'm not gonna move unless I have to.

- Cool, that is Rosamund's turn.

- [Lou] Great turn.
- [Ally] Great turn.

- Great turn. Pib, that is you.

- Is there enough room on my
friend who is also a spider

for a little, tiny kitty
cat to get up there as well?

- Sure, I think so.

- Okay, so I'm gonna crawl
over and like, excuse me.

- [Siobhan] Just a stack of animals.
- Gerard, scoot over.

- [Murph] Ah, all right.
[Zac meowing]

- [Emily] Everybody stand

on the girl child with broken bones.

- [meows] Pushing like when a cat

tries to sit in a chair with you.

[cast laughing]
- [Ally] Yeah.

- [Murph] Excuse you.

- [Emily] I think he's
jealous of your laptop.

- [Ally] Yeah. [laughs]

- And so I will make my way over to there.

And it's 60 feet on my daggers?
Is that 60 feet from there?

- So 60 feet is the longest possible
range. - [Zac] Is the long range

- 20 feet, which means

you get disadvantage.
- [Zac] Oh, okay.

- Oh yes, that would cancel out.

- Interesting.

- You want to just hold
a reaction until we move?

- Until you're within 20 feet of an enemy?

- [Zac] Yeah.
- Yeah, I think totally.

That's absolutely fine.

So you're gonna hop up on
Ylfa and hold an action.

- [Zac] Yeah.
- [Brennan] Cool.

- But I will hop up
there and I'll give Tim

a bonus action help right there.

I'm just gonna waste it otherwise.

- Incredible, thank you.

- 'Cause of my Master of
Tactics I can give you help.

- You jump up on Ylfa, and
you're readying an action

that when you're within

you're going to attack.

Ylfa, that's you.

- Okay, so Gerard, are we trying to,

since we don't have advantage,

should we just try and make
a beeline for this guy?

Or should we make a beeline for this guy?

- [Murph] Why don't we make a
beeline for the one in front.

- Okay, so I'm guessing I
have 40 feet of movement.

Does that get me here?
- [Brennan] Oh easy, no sweat.

- [Ally] Close it.

- [Emily] And that's close enough

for you to throw your daggers?

- Yeah, I think so.
- Okay.

- Actually, it's close enough
for you to throw your dagger

at the one that's illuminated
back here too if you want. -
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

So I guess I'm just gonna
use my 40 feet of movement,

and I'm just gonna f*cking
bite another spider.

[Brennan laughs]
- [Ally] Ooh.

- [Lou] Spider on spider action.

- [Emily] And that's
gonna be a eight to hit.

- An eight is not going
to hit, I'm afraid.

- Bardic? Would that pop you to a hit?

- [Emily] Oh wait, I
know my own armor class.

- [Murph] It might be different stats.

- [Emily] Yeah, I don't
think it would bring me.

- You rush up to this monstrous arachnid

that turns to you and goes,
[hisses] Sister, what gives?

[Ally laughing]

- Brother!
[cast laughing]

It's all a ruse.

The people on my back,

I've brought them here as food for Mother.

- Oh, are you biting
me to let me know that?

- I purposefully missed!

- Oh, sick.
[cast laughing]

You see, you... [laughs]

These guys are very surprised, right?

This is my rendering of
the surprise condition.

- Oh my God, it's so cute.

- Can I throw my dagger at the other one?

- [Brennan] Hell yeah.

Go ahead and give me an
attack roll with advantage.

- Natural 20.
[Nat 20 chime]

[cast cheering]
- [Brennan] Oh sh*t!

- [Siobhan] Yes!
- Okay,

so introducing the death blow mechanic.

Every single attack in
these realms of horror

has the potential to instantly
[snaps fingers] end a life.

For calculating the
DC, it's the same rules

as concentration checks for spells.

So it's 10 or half damage,
whichever is the higher number.

So you're gonna go ahead,
actually, and roll damage first.

- So I got sneak attack on this.

- [Brennan] Yes, you have
sneak attack on this.

- So I do 4d6 plus 2d4?

- Yeah, 4d6 plus 2d4.

- Come on. Hm, not great.
- I'm seeing a lot of twos and ones.

- [Zac] So that is two, four, six, seven-

- Hey, first one of the
day. First one of the day.

First crit of the day.

- Yeah, first crit of the day of many.

- [Brennan] First crit of the day, baby.

- Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to rage.

Can I say that I also bonus action raged?

- [Brennan] Bonus action rage.
- It doesn't affect the-

- [Brennan] Yes.
- f*cking miss.

[cast laughing]

- You looked so mad though, it was like...

- 13 plus four.
- 17 points of damage, okay.

So this creature actually has
to make two saving throws now

'cause it also has to
take the injury mechanic.

It's immediately taken more
than half its hit points

just on this attack.
- Okay, good to know.

- So, you want me to do death
blow first or injury first?

- Let's do death blow first.
- [Brennan] Death blow.

- [Ally] Death blow.
- Yeah, you know what?

'Cause if that goes bad...
- Go big or go home.

- So the DC's just gonna be 10.

On a four or lower, this
thing dies instantly.

- Okay.
- Okay, it could happen.

- Okay, it does not instantly die.

Dagger [grunts] thuds into it,

but it does take a level
of exhaustion as you

[mimics wind rushing] and
it goes [gurgles painfully]

as this dagger thuds deep into its, like,

it's that narrow connection
between its head and thorax.

- Yeah. [laughs]
- Sick as hell.

That is now going to be Mother Goose.

- What do we have to roll
to be able to move safely?

- [Brennan] It is an acrobatics check

to be able to move safely.
- Okay.

- Mother Goose, I could shuttle back

and get you if you ever need.

- [Zac] You have that help action.

- [Ally] Yeah, I was thinking
I could have advantage.

I would love to move.
- [Emily] Oh.

- [Brennan] Hell yeah.
- [Ally] I bonus action.

I'm gonna cast Expeditious
Retreat on myself.

- [Brennan] Sick, awesome.
- [Murph] That's smart.

- [Emily] Ooh, yeah.
- Okay, so this is to move.

Acrobatics, what do I have to hit?

- [Brennan] The DC here is 10.
- Okay.

Yes! Okay, cool, 16.

- Pib, as you give the help action,

you see this sort of
older man trying to like-

- Super ripped.

- Super ripped, trying to move
across the web. - Crazy back muscles.

- Pib, what does your
help action look like

as you take off? - [Emily] I cannot
keep up with this pushup economy

- It's more like a, like,
this path looks pretty good.

Eyes on me, right here.
- Yeah.

- Look at this.
[Ally laughs nervously]

Little step here, little step here.

- It still feels sticky
even on the non-sticky ones.

- [Murph] The cat just
kind of hitting the web.

- Yeah, yeah. [laughs]

- When a cat wants to like,
it wants you to feed them

and they're like, kinda like-
- Leading you.

- This way, this way.

I think Puss in Boots, you're back

in this new scrappier incarnation.

You're literally helping
a mortal man like,

[claps] this way, this way.

I'm helping you achieve
your destiny. Come with me.

You make it easy, and as you're doing so,

your book flies open.

The first time fully
understanding your book,

and what you learned from Scheherazade,

that she has the ability

to pull stories back out of the book.

You open and see the rhyme of your son,

Jack Be Nimble, Jack Be Quick.

And your son in golden
light, sort of rendered

with like glowing golden
ink smiles at you,

leaps out from the page and as you step

he has a moment of existing
in the same space as your body

as golden motes of light surround you.

And you feel an unbelievable
spryness and quickness

as a voice says, "You got it, Dad."

- Jack, okay, that was pretty heavy

to see my beautiful Jack.
[Brennan laughs]

Yeah, and then I move my 30 feet.

What does that look like
on this nightmarish web?

- Making the acrobatics
check kind of removes

the difficult terrain feature,
so you can go a full 30.

- [Ally] Okay, cool.

- And you have Expeditious
Retreat, right? So that's-

- I do. I think it was
a bonus action to cast.

And then going forward as
a bonus action I can dash.

- But I think as part of
the action of casting it

you do get to take the movement
with Expeditious Retreat.

- Amazing, then I'll dash.
Yeah, I'll dash forward.

- So as a bonus action
you're going to move 30 feet.

What direction do you want to move in?

- [Ally] Towards my friends.
- [Brennan] Your allies.

- [Ally] With the spider, I guess.

- [Brennan] Hell yeah. So like here?

- Yeah, yeah, that's great.

And the dash would mean I
could move another 30, right?

- [Emily] Yeah.
- Yeah, absolutely.

- [Ally] If I wanted to.
- Yeah.

- I'll do that, I'll move another 30 feet

straight over there.

- [Brennan] Here?
- [Ally] Yeah, if possible.

- [Brennan] Great. Hell yeah.

- And then I'll give the
bonus action to Gerard.

- All of you see that
Mother Goose tears off.

- Oh man.
- He's so athletic.

- [Brennan] So nimble, so-

- I was telling you guys about-

- Be careful-
- I just saw my son.

[cast laughing]

- [Brennan] And give the
help action to Gerard,

which is very fitting because Gerard,

it is gonna be your turn.
- [Siobhan] Nice.

- All right, thank you, Timothy.

- You're welcome.

- I pull out my little book of forms

and gonna kinda go into the animal brain

so that I'm not shaking.

I'm only freaking out in my mind.

All right, going to use
this. Let's go for...

- Why does everybody have a book?

[cast laughing]

- The swallow-
- I don't have a book.

- Okay.
- The swallow flies southward.

And I'm going to make an attack

stabbing down into this one right here.

Ooh, ooh, bad stuff,
guys. Bad stuff, everyone.

- Yeah, put down the book, Gerard!

- Well, I need it. That's a 10.

- A 10 does not hit on that attack.

- Okay, I got a different-
- So far me and Murph

have rolled one, three,
and a five this combat.

- [Ally] Incredible.
- Cool stuff, cool stuff.

I think that literally...

Oh God, should I action
surge and try again?

I'm just gonna miss.

- No, you got it, you got it.
- You might hit it.

- All right, I'll try again.

Why was I doing the
swallow flies southward?

I should be doing snake in the bouquet.

[cast laughing]
- [Emily] Ooh.

- And I stab down.
- This is it.

Now this is the money shot.
- Come on.

- Okay, that one's a 19 to hit.

- 19 hits. Go ahead and roll damage.

- [Murph] Okay, and-
- Thank f*cking God.

- Thank God.

- I'm going to do a
Distracting Strike as well

to give advantage to Ylfa.
- [Brennan] Hell yeah.

- [Murph] On the next attack.
- Cool!

- Okay, so 2d8s...
[dramatic string music]

Oh yeah.
- Ooh.

- 16 damage.
- Nice.

- [Brennan] 16 damage. Hell yes.

It's going to make a save
here which it also fails

so both of the spiders
in that illumination

are staggered and exhausted
from those injuries.

- [Emily] Yeah.
- Good Lord, it worked.

[cast laughing]

- Now the spiders are going to act.

- Well, I haven't gone yet.

- They come out of the
surprised condition.

And that's their whole turn.

Good job on surprising everybody.

- I thought that, oh, I see, I see.

- Yeah, they just do nothing.
- They just do nothing,

but they are no longer surprised.

The spiders have begun, as the two here

are badly stabbed and
hurt you hear one say,

Brothers, what gives?

And you see someone says,

Sister, I do think we're in trouble.

I think we gotta hustle.

- I brought them here to Mother!

- I'm not sure how much of a spider

this wolf girl question mark is.

- sh*t, did I forget to
hide my tail and ears?

- Yeah, this is just a wolf

with f*cked up legs who's a girl.

- Hey, be careful who you're talking to.

I'm a really nice pre-teen.
[cast laughing]

- That's right.

- Pinocchio, as you see the spiders

kind of like, move into battle mode,

that's all they're able
to do on this turn.

That is going to be you.
- Thank God.

I'm gonna look over at Rosamund.

Rosamund, we're just
gonna stay here, right?

- [Siobhan] Yeah.
- Like, we're not like,

trying to move or anything.
- [Siobhan] Oh, I'm not going anywhere.

Absolutely not.
- [Lou] Okay, f*ck yeah.

Spinocchio, assume form of Pinocchi-Crow.

[cast laughing]

I'm gonna have him change back,

and I'm gonna cast Faerie Fire on him.

- [Siobhan] Nice.
- And have him fail.

- Oh, sick.

- So we've now got a little lantern.

- Oh my God! [laughs]
- Cute.

- That can fly around.
- I've seen this at REI.

[Brennan and Siobhan laughing]

- I guess I'll have
Spinocchi-Crow fly away from us

into the air and cast it on him in the air

so that we're not illuminated.

And then he has 40 feet of fly.

And I'm gonna have him fly to this area

and be hovering 10 feet above this.
- [Ally] Oh. Great.

- [Siobhan] Perfect.
- [Brennan] Oh, sick.

So you're illuminating
these spiders over here.

- [Lou] Yes.
- Dope as hell.

- I mean, I'm assuming
he knows where the...

I'm gonna say, find the other ones!

And send him in the
direction of those spiders,

have him flying 10 feet above them.

- And what sort of color?

What is the vibe of the
spell that you cast?

- Oh, what are the three
choices? You've got violet.

- [Siobhan] Blue, green, or violet.

- Oh, we'll do blue for Spinocchi-Crow.

- Great, gender reveal crow.
- It's a boy crow, guys.

Pinocchi-Crow is a boy.
- Oh, wow, cool.

- Amazing.
[cast laughing]

So right now Mother Goose,
Rosamund, and Pinocchio

are still shrouded in darkness,

but a bunch of light happens here.

You cast Faerie Fire.

Any other actions from
you that turn, Pinocchio?

- No, that's it.

- I need to roll a saving throw,

and we're gonna roll
this in the Box of Doom.

- What a fun, that's fun.
- For what and for why?

- 'Cause saving what?
- For why?

- [Murph] Can I touch whatever
dice you're about to use?

- [Brennan] You wanna touch this?

- [Lou] Just let him rub his hand.

- Oh no, it's got Murph all over it.

- Yeah!
- You see stink lines on it.

[Emily and Siobhan laughing]
- Hey! [laughs]

- Your DC is 13, correct, Pinocchio?

- My DC is 13 and
Spinocchi-Crow also has my,

on anything he shares my DC.

- 12 or lower and it's a failure.

[tense music]

That's a seven which is a failure.

[cast clapping]
- Which is good for us.

- Okay...
- That's good? Oh, I thought-

- There it is. Hey, let's
clap it up for seven.

Clap it up.
- Clap it up, good seven.

- So Pinocchio, Pinocchi-Crow
[mimics cawing] flies off,

and as your crow sails off and is up high,

you throw this enchantment and you see

[mimics magic whooshing]
your strings appear again

as you're illuminated by magic.

And you've elected for
your familiar to fail,

but you hit an area up high.

[Ally and Lou whimper nervously
as skittering sounds play]

And something else becomes illuminated.

[cast screaming in shock and fear]
- I knew it, I knew it!

I called it, I called it, I called it!

- What the f*ck?

- [Murph] That actually f*cking got me.

- [Ally] No!
- [Siobhan] What the f*ck?

- Oh, it's time for scary fairy tales.

- Oh, it's time for scary fairy tales.

- Oh no.
[Lou claps]

- [Zac] No.
- Oh, that is disgusting.

- I turn to it as I say, mother!

- Can we just get a big
round for the Art Department

and for all the f*cking...
[cast clapping]

- Wow.
- Wow.

- Why'd you have to put
tiny spiders on it? Is not-

- [Ally] Why?
- [Siobhan] The tiny spiders

is what makes it much worse.
- One big spider's not enough?

- [Ally] Oh my God.
- Yeah, the little peach guys.

- [Emily] Are those
spiders, are they babies?

- [Siobhan] They're so pink.

- So Pinocchio, the edge of your spell

catches something up high.

[inhales raspily] Did you
want to come for dinner?

And your magic ripples
outlining something,

and it won't stop rippling outward.

Something truly massive
descends on a silken strand,

Something truly massive
descends on a silken strand,

but you have outlined it in your spell.

- Good job.
- I'm sorry!

I mean, maybe if I hadn't

- It's good, it's good.
- illuminated it, it wouldn't be real.

- It's good. We have
advantage on it, it's good.

- I don't want it!
- [Ally] Oh my God.

- The last bit of the spell illuminates

the very front of the spider,

and you see where its head would be,

the torso of what looks
to be a young girl.

- [Lou] Mm.
[Emily gasps]

- [Brennan] Holding a small
bowl with a spoon in it.

- Oh no.
- [Zac] No!

- Miss Muffet.
- [Brennan] Little Miss Muffet

sits at the center of a
web, not in a tuffet at all.

How you doing, Murph?

You okay?
- [Murph] No, I...

- [Emily] Who did you think it was?

- [Zac] You guessed the wrong thing.

- I was like, ooh, I'm very smart.

'Cause we saw the bear
last time I was like,

It's freaking...

- [Brennan] Goldilocks.
- Goldilocks.

Come on, her, she's got a bowl.

- Wait, has she been taken by the spider

or she is the spider?

- I think what happens
immediately, Mother Goose,

is you look at this, and
in your previous life

you had these kind of like inclinations

or feeling of wrongness, but
you always associated that

with like, yeah, times are bad.

There's like, there's w*r, there's horror,

there's things going
on that are f*cked up.

You guys have all come through
the veil between realities.

You look at this and don't just
have this generalized sense

of wrongness, you see a creature

that has been scrambled between stories.

You see something that is like,

in a monstrous form, corrupted.

In other words, if you were doing

like a paladin's Divine
Sense, you would be like,

this is a monstrosity or an aberration.

This is not a naturally-occurring
fairy tale, right?

- Wow.
- But she goes,

Ah, little babies, little darlings.

There's something that does not breathe

hiding in the dark, and it's rendered me

under the charm of a wicked spell.

Destroy it!

- Pinocchio immediately starts
doing his best impression

of what he thinks breathing is.

Hee, hee, hee!
[cast laughing]

Hee, hee.
- Ylfa holds her breath

to try and be like, it's
me, the spellcaster.

[Ally and Siobhan laughing]

- Hee!
- The spellcaster!

- [Zac] Pretty accurate, pretty accurate.

- Two brilliant actors.
- Yes.

- You guys are gonna get

It's dead, Pinocchi-Crow.

That's really-

- [laughs] We'll make that canon.

- Am I charmed or am I frightened?

I don't know, both of them?
- [Ally] Ladies.

- My stepmother's visage

appears on my face and says, Ladies.

- [Brennan] Ladies.

- Be reasonable.
- [Siobhan] Manners.

- We enter the top of the order again.

[cast groaning]
[Brennan mimics spider sounds]

- [Zac] [gasps] Don't do it.
- [Lou] Oh, that feels bad.

- I've got a cat on my back,
but I'm huge. I'm large.

- That's true, you're very big.

Would you think Red would want
to take the hits over Pib?

- Yes, that's what I'm here to do.

- [Brennan] Okay.
- I'm here for the hits.

- [Zac] This feels not great.
- [Lou] Are you still a spider?

- I'm a spider.

- With a girl's face
and a jaw that unhinges

and eats other spiders?
- Yeah, well I'm not actually.

I'm just in spider form.

It's a fighting stance in
which I break all my bones

and skitter about like a spider.

- [Ally] Incredible
fighting stance. [laughs]

[Emily laughing]

- [Lou] What happened, Brennan's mouth?

- Don't do this to us.

- This is the horror season
and it's supposed to be scary

and I just rolled two threes and a one.

- That's actually great
'cause I keep rolling threes.

[cast laughing]

- Just two spiders whiffing.
- This is just gonna happen both ways.

- You see that wheeling around,

this giant monster turns
and looks at you and goes,

[inhales roughly] and you
see a little girl's face

looking at your face.
[creepy music]

- Hi.
- Hi.

- Are you also a cusping pre-teen?

- Yes, but curds and whey
don't really cut it anymore!

And she swings at you with
this razor-sharp spoon

leaning down like. [grunts]

- I dodge it with Pib on
my back and then I'm like,

I gotta get you on the garnish train.

[cast laughing]

- So Muffet misses three times in a row

with three different attacks
and then immediately after that

is the lair action initiative
where she kicks the web again.

However, you're mounted on a
spider. Pib and Ylfa are okay.

You have submitted to this fate.

- In a way, in a way-
- Just laying on a trampoline.

- I'm safer than I've ever been, honey.

- So I'm gonna need strength saving throws

from Rosamund and Pinocchio.

- Oh boy.
- [Murph] Oh man.

- Oh, that's a 16.

- That's a nine.

- Okay, you do not fall
prone. Pinocchio, you do.

I'm gonna need that dex save from you.

- Okay.
[sinister music]

That's a, my...

A four.
[Emily laughing]

- And now the babies.
- [Lou] No.

- [Brennan] So we're gonna go
one baby here for Rosamund.

- [Lou] Boo!
- [Siobhan] Boo.

- If you just kinda lay
there, it works out.

But only if Gerard comes and fights-
- However, Pinocchio, by virtue

of having charmed the two in front of you,

you've actually tactically closed off

that means of approach so
only two get around to you,

but you do fall into the web

so they're gonna get attacks
on you with advantage.

- I look at the two who didn't
get charmed and go, ladies!

[Ally laughing]
Ladies!

- We'll resolve those ones first.

Each of these is gonna be with advantage

because you are restrained.

No nat 20 there, but that is a hit.

No nat 20 there, but that is a hit.

I'm gonna need two
constitution saving throws.

- [Lou] Why?
- 'Cause they're poison.

[Siobhan groans]

- Wait...

- [Zac] But you're a puppet.
- Oh, yeah.

- I'm a puppet.
- [Siobhan] He's a puppet.

He's a little puppet boy.

- I have advantage on saving
throws against being poisoned,

and I have resistance to poison damage.

- Oh sh*t, okay.
- [Emily] Oh!

- And I add plus three to this.

[dice tapping table]

That's an 18 and a 19
for the first one, 22.

[dice tapping table]
[sinister music]

And that's a 15 for the second one, 18.

- Wow, okay, their poison sinks into you,

but you're made of wood.

And you can see the spiders
don't like biting you.

- Yes.

- Wow, first attack is
seven piercing, one poison

which will halve to zero.

You don't take any poison
from that first one.

- [Lou] Okay, so that-
- [Ally] Ooh.

- So seven and the next one is six damage.

- Great.

- [Brennan] And that's gonna
be two concentration checks.

- You got it. Both are DC 10?

- Both are DC 10.

- First one is only a five.

- [Brennan] Okay, you lose Faerie Fire

which means that Muffet-
- [Siobhan] Damn.

- Now it's just sort of horrifying.

Only like a quarter of
her body is illuminated.

However, I don't think
you look that hurt, right?

- Yeah, I've only lost

- Okay, so biting into
you, you see these fangs

are kind of scratching the wood.

It's more that they're
pulling at the areas of rot

than they're like, piercing
into you that dramatically.

- Ah, stop, stop!
- [growls] As these spiders attack.

One's coming for Rosamund.

That is going to be a miss.
Pinocchi-Crow's armor class?

- Pinocchi-Crow's armor class is 13.

- Well, that's two misses.
[Murph and Emily cheer]

And then these babies
are going to leap off.

Seven attacks coming Ylfa's way.

- My AC is 17.

- None of 'em are coming for me?

- If you want them to come,

I can dip back.
- I don't.

- But I'm large and you're on top of me.
- I don't think any of them,

'cause you've been throwing
these ranged attacks

that are very, like, that
disappear in the darkness

and they are seeing Muffet
attack Red specifically

so I think they're all gonna go-

- Seven attacks, oh.

[tense music]
[dice rattling]

- [Brennan] Okay, no nat 20s.
- Oof.

- That's gonna be four hits.

Give me four constitution saving throws.

- Okay, so the first one

I have to use the Silvery Barbs, right?

- The chosen creature has advantage,

oh, on the next attack roll,
ability check, or saving throw.

- Okay, okay, so I have to...

That's gonna be a fail
anyways unless a 10 saves.

- 10 does not save. Actually,
go and just roll, the DC's 11.

- The DC's 11 so then-

- [Brennan] Let me know how many you fail.

- So it's four?
- [Brennan] Yeah.

- Missed that.
- [Murph] Jesus Christ.

- 12, I save on one of them.

And then is there a four? Yeah.

And I also miss. [laughs]
- [Murph] Jesus Christ.

- Okay, that's a lotta...
- [Emily] I... [laughs]

- That's a lotta extra poison damage.

- I should go back to
playing a spellcaster.

My dice do not like when
I am not a spellcaster.

- You want other people
to be rolling, yeah.

[cast laughing]

Okay, we'll resolve the
piercing damage first.

Okay, we'll resolve the
piercing damage first.

So four hits so the first attack

is going to deal seven
halved to three piercing

is going to deal seven
halved to three piercing

plus five poison so that's eight
damage on the first attack.

- Okay.

- Second attack is going to be

five halved to two
piercing plus seven poison

so that's nine damage on the next attack.

- Okay.

- Six halved to three
piercing plus five poison

so that third attack deals eight damage.

- Eight damage. So now
I am no longer a spider.

So does that carry over to my...

- Any extra damage carries
over to your next form.

- Okay, so how much was that total?

- [Brennan] That was eight total.

- Eight total, okay.

- [Brennan] So your spider form goes away

as these spiders all lunge and attack you.

Pib, give me a dexterity saving throw.

- Okay.

[die tapping table]
- [Murph] Eeeee

That's a 24.
- [Ally] Nice.

- Oh yeah, you're totally fine.

But you are now sort of on
the web surrounded by spiders.

- Okay.
[Brennan laughing]

- And then the last
attack coming for Ylfa,

the last set of damage is gonna be

three halved to one.
- [Emily] Okay.

- Plus seven poison so eight
damage from that last attack.

- Okay, it's still not half my hit points.

- All of you watch a mob
of spiders descend on Ylfa

as she is forced to transform back

into a more recognizable-
- Ylfa!

[Emily laughing]

- This wave of these little spiders goes.

And Ylfa, you're once again holding

this gleaming woodsman's
ax with a little bit

of this wolf blood that
flickers for a moment.

- Thank you, sisters and brothers.

You knew that I was held
back by using my bite

when I have such a sick ax.
[cast laughing]

- [Brennan] Rosamund, that's gonna be you.

- Oh boy, what's it gonna take
for me to get Pinocchio up?

- He's restrained so it would be an action

or you can attack the webbing
and try to destroy it.

- Leave me.

- I'm not gonna leave you.
- [Ally] Tiny little boy.

- I'm not gonna leave you, little boy.

- Leave me to the ladies.
[Emily laughing]

- Are we back to barrel service?

- You guys, kind of a
big spider over here.

- This Faerie Fire over there

isn't doing very much any more

so I'm gonna cast Zephyr Strike.

- Okay.
[wind howling]

- Which means that I don't
provoke opportunity attacks.

- [Brennan] Cool.

- I'm gonna use my
action to free Pinocchio,

and then I'm gonna move.

I like, pick up Pinocchio
'cause he's small as my like...

- Sick, okay, so you're gonna have

to basically make the check he would make

to escape the web for him.
- Sure, that's fine.

- So what I'm gonna need
from you is a strength check.

- Come on.
- Leave me to the ladies.

- That's a nine.

- Nine unfortunately doesn't do it.

- God damn it!

- You go and you are pulling
as hard you can. - [Emily] I
really like the hustle, though.

- But he is fully stuck to the web

as these spiders are around there.

You've bonus action cast Zephyr Strike.

What is it that you want
to do in this moment?

- In which case I'm gonna
say, I'm sorry little guy.

You're on your own.
- Leave me to the ladies.

- You're on your own. I'm sorry.

- No, I understand. Get out of here.

- I'm gonna move this way.

- [Brennan] Okay, so gonna move 30.

Go ahead and give me
your acrobatics check.

- There's the roll. Yeah, that's a 22.

- [Brennan] Okay, great.
Easily move as fast as you can.

- Just disappears into utter darkness.

- We're all on our own
in the dark, little boy.

- Whoa.
- [Murph] Holy sh*t.

- What the f*ck? What the f*ck? -
[Brennan] Rosamund's become metal as hell.

- That's a long walk from-
- An absolutely haunting thing.

- Wow, okay. It's just me
and a bunch of spiders, okay.

- [laughs] That is going to be Pib.

- Is there any like, advantage
I could gain from hopping

on the back of this big-a*s
spider in front of me?

- [sighs] You'd be able to hit it.

- Okay, I'm gonna try to make
some sort of acrobatics check

to like, get on top of this spider.

- We'll make opposed checks.

Her athletics versus your acrobatics.

- [Zac] Okay.
- Essentially you're trying

to do like a weird kind of grapple.

- Yeah.
- I will let you know

the number you need to beat.

You need to beat a 19.
- [Murph] Jesus.

- Sheesh.
- [Ally] You got it.

- [Siobhan] You got it,
you got it. No problem.

- I don't beat it.

- Okay, so you cannot get up on her back

from where you are right now,

but you don't lose your action doing that.

- And since I'm five
feet away from an ally,

I just try to attack.
- Cool, go for it.

[die tapping]
[tense music]

- f*ck, another miss.
- Dude, throw that dice out.

- This die is in jail.
- Get rid of it.

- I'm gonna do-
- [Lou] Go to jail, dice.

- Ylfa, I'll give you my bonus.

- Oh, thank you.
- 'Cause we're...

- Are you sure you want to give it to me?
- Absolutely f*cked.

- I'm like, really rolling poorly.

- Well, anything-

- You got it, you got it.
- [Emily] Okay, okay.

- [Brennan] Pib, you are
surrounded. You throw a knife.

It vanishes into the dark,

and you can feel the spiders
closing in around you.

Red, that's you.
- Okay.

I'm gonna take out my woodsman
ax, and I'm gonna look

at Miss Muffet and be
like, look, I get it.

Everyone raised you and told you

you were gonna be beautiful and charming

and good at singing and dancing

and now you're a f*cking monster.

And I don't know the silver
lining of that. I really don't.

And I'm trying to find
out, but there's just,

there's gotta be something
to being a monster.

And then I attack her with an ax.

- Go for it.
- [Ally] Oh!

- Okay, I'm definitely
gonna hit thanks to that.

- [Ally] Nice.
- I did get another three,

but 25 to hit.
- 25 definitely hits.

Go ahead and roll damage.
- Ooh, come on!

- [Ally] Hell yeah.
[Brennan cheers]

- And then I'm going to
bonus action Wild Shape

once again into a giant spider,

and can I take Pib onto
my back as I do it?

- Yeah, go ahead and give me athletics

or acrobatics to get Pib
onto your back again.

- Okay, I'm gonna do athletics

'cause I roll that with advantage.

So 11.

- An 11 to get Pib back onto your back.

- If I don't get him onto my back,

then I'll just sit on him.
[Ally and Brennan laughing]

- [Brennan] Actually, yeah.

I think on 11 you can provide him cover.

- Okay, okay.
- So Pib's gotta deal

with the little spiders around him,

but you are covering him from
any attacks from Miss Muffet.

- Thank you.
- [Emily] Okay.

- And go ahead, give me actually
a free persuasion check.

- It's gonna be a minus one to it.

- 10.

As you shout at Muffet
you see her just [shouts]

opening this mouth filled with mandibles

swinging at you with
this little, tiny spoon.

Mother Goose, that's gonna be you.

- Okay.

- You see like, ichor pouring
out of this fresh wound

from the woodsman's ax across
one of the massive legs,

but there are some bad
situations occurring.

- Okay, great, then I am going
to stay exactly where I am

- Okay, great, then I am going
to stay exactly where I am

'cause this is working so far.

And I would like to look at Miss Muffet,

kinda crane my neck so that maybe

I can kind of make eye
contact and be like,

young girl, I don't know
what's happened to you,

but we're going to figure it out.

But in the meantime, I'm very disappointed

in your behavior right now.

And I cast Vicious Mockery.
- [Murph] Nice.

- Timothy, I've never
heard you speak like that

with a child before.
- Listen, sometimes, you know,

you need to bring out-
- [Zac] Calm down, Timothy!

- Miss Muffet, you're
getting a talking to.

- I'm quite disappointed.
- Incredible.

Okay, Vicious Mockery. Succeed
on a wisdom saving throw.

- Or take a d4 of psychic damage.

- Muffet does not fail.
She succeeds on her save.

[snarls and exhales
sharply] And snarls at you.

I don't care what anyone has to say.

- Then I would love to bonus
action Healing Word to Red.

- I would allow the healing to go through

to Ylfa's wounded form
underneath the Wild Shape

if you want to do that.

- Yeah, I mean, it's not a ton so...

- I mean, anything.

- Let's see, yes!

Four plus my spellcasting.

- That's eight.
- [Ally] That is eight.

- [Brennan] All right,
that's Mother Goose.

Gerard, that's you.

- I'm going to use the attack action,

but I'm going to forgo my attack

and use a bonus action to
direct an ally that I can see,

that can see or hear me to use reaction

to add a superiority
die to the damage roll.

I'm going to look at Pib.
- Huh?

- And I'm gonna be like, Pib.
- [Emily] Yeah.

- Yes.
- All right?

- What?
- Last time

you sort of threw your
knife not at the spider.

I'm going to need you to hit the spider.

Do you think you could do that?

- This f*cking guy.
[cast laughing]

- Go ahead and take a swing.
[Siobhan laughing]

- Yes! [smacks fists]

- Dirty 20.

- That is a hit.

- [Emily] Yes!
- Go ahead and roll damage.

- So you'll do your sneak
attack and add a d8 to this.

- Ooh, okay.
- [Ally] Hell yea.

- So it's these die plus four.

So a eight on the d8.
[Brennan cheers]

So 21 damage.
- Sick!

- [Brennan] Wow, okay.
[Emily cheers]

You throw another knife that plunges

into the already sort of revealed area

where Red's ax thudded into the leg.

And you see that one of the legs curls up

and twists underneath Muffet

as she lists to one side, imbalanced.

- Take that, Goldilocks!
[cast laughing]

- The spider underneath
you is going to attempt

to attack you, Gerard.
- [Murph] Cool.

- That is a hit. Go ahead-
- Silvery Barbs.

- Silvery Barbs?
- [Emily] Yeah!

- You got it.
- As a reaction.

So yeah, roll again.
- Okay.

That is a miss.
- Oof, thank you.

- Senator appears again.

How are you looking on your
spell slots over there?

- Senator! One more, one more first.

- Cool, that attack is negated.

- I see that Vicious
Mockery's only a cantrip.

- Looking at, there's no
space to get to Red anymore

so this one's going to [snort]
swirl around to Rosamund.

- Be careful, Rosamund.
They have top hats.

- I'm gonna need a constitution
saving throw from Rosamund.

- Just one?
- [Murph] You hate to hear it.

- [Brennan] Just one.

- A 13.

- [Brennan] 13 succeeds.
- Oh, thank God.

- You take six, eight,
plus two, plus three.

You take 11 points of damage

from one of the spiders
biting into your leg. [snarls]

And that's going to be Pinocchio.

- I am going to pull a
Tim. I'm not gonna move.

- [Siobhan] Cool.
- [Emily] Wow.

- 'Cause they'll just chase me

and then on their turn attack me.

- You could get up though.
- Yeah, I'm not surrounded.

- Oh, instead of restrained.
- Although that's an action.

- You said you can do an attack.

- [Brennan] Yeah.
- Against the web.

- [Brennan] Yeah.
- Instead of a...

- That's correct.
- I think Pinocchi-Crow

is going to peck at the webs to free me.

- Okay, go ahead and make an
attack roll for Pinocchi-Crow.

- [Murph] Come on.

- Come the f*ck on, Pinocchi-Crow.

[die rolling off the table]

- That's, it's gone. It's gone, dude.

- What is it?
- It's absolutely gone.

- Pinocchi-Crow is gonna
throw down a solid 19.

- [Siobhan] Nice.
- That is a hit.

Go ahead and roll damage.

What types of damage
does Pinocchi-Crow do?

- Pinocchi-Crow does poison
damage and piercing damage.

- [Brennan] How much piercing
damage does Pinocchi-Crow do?

- He does...

Seven piercing damage.

- With five hit points but
immunity to poison damage

so it had to happen on the
piercing, Pinocchi-Crow [caws]

flies in and you see,
honestly the way it looks

is just Pinocchi-Crow grabs
your wooden shoulders,

beats his wings and
[mimics wings flapping]

pulls you up off the webbing.

You are still prone but
no longer restrained.

- Okay, thanks, uh, crow.

If I were to move forward
through the two charmed spiders-

- They'll allow you to move through them,

but you'll get two swings on you.

- I'll take 'em.
- [Ally] Oh.

- Okay, I'm gonna need the acrobatics

to get safely through the webbing.

- That's a 15.

- [Brennan] You are solid gold.

- [pants] Ladies, ladies.

- [Brennan] Okay.
- What is that?

- I imagine Pinocchio is like,

on it, straddling it,
just squeaking forward.

- Just give me one
constitution saving throw.

One hit on your way out.

- With advantage 'cause
it's against being poisoned.

- [Brennan] Yep, 'cause-
- [Murph] Oh nice, nice, dude.

- That's gonna be another...

Or that's, it's another 14
on the die, but a 17 to save.

- [Brennan] You take
seven points of piercing.

- [Lou] Okay, not fun.

- And overall the attack
does nine points of damage

'cause you do add in that extra two

so you take seven piercing

plus two poison, which is already halved.

- Okay, that is more than
half my hit point total

in a single attack.
- [Murph] Damn.

- Okay, go ahead and give me

a DC 10 constitution saving throw.

- That is an 11.
- [Murph] Nice.

- Cool, you do not take
a level of exhaustion.

You have been ripped up by these spiders,

but you got 15 feet of movement-

so you can go five, 10, 15, here?
[Lou mimicking shimmying]

- [Lou] Great, that feels fine.

- [Ally] Wow, incredible.

- And I believe that's just movement.

You have your full action
and bonus action left.

- I would like to cast Faerie Fire again.

- [Ally] Yes.
- On the last known position

that Little Miss Muffet was in.

- This is a radiant spell and
she's huge. It's no sweat.

- You can probably get some of
these little guys too, right?

- Yeah, if I can get those guys,
I'd love to get those guys.

- Okay, let's see here. Yeah,
I'll give the you middle ones.

- I'm aiming for, you know,
her lady figure, not her butt.

- Oh that was almost a 17 but it wasn't.

Set a seven on the die. Muffet fails.

Once again Faerie Fire'd.
- [Ally] Nice!

- And I just rolled two nat ones

for the two spiders underneath!

- Wow, they are brightly colored.

- Wow.
- Pinocchio, this is like,

the best instance of the spell.

What does it look like as
this unhinges from your hands?

- I think Pinocchio is honestly thinking

about what Rosamund said and the fact

that we're alone in darkness
and is like, [screams] no, no!

And is just going to, I
think as he screams no,

a misty kind of grayish light emerges

that then takes on a green color

and the area around her dimly illuminated.

- [Brennan] I love it.
- [Siobhan] Beautiful.

- Finally, I'm gonna have
Pinocchi-Crow use his movement.

He'll take the opportunity attacks as well

and he'll place himself right behind me.

- [Brennan] Cool.
- Pinocchi-Crow, come on!

- What's Pinocchi-Crow's AC?
- [Lou] 13.

- 13, give me a con
save for Pinocchi-Crow.

- Is this to be poisoned?
- [Brennan] Yes.

- Immunity.
- Oh, sh*t!

- [Murph] Nice.
- [Ally] Yes.

- Hell yeah, so that's
just a straight four points

of piercing damage to Pinocchi-Crow.

- Pinocchi-Crow has
resistance to piercing damage

so only two points of
damage to Pinocchi-Crow.

- What is going on?
- Absolutely.

- This bird is scary!
[Ally and Siobhan laughing]

- Incredible turn from Pinocchio,

the little wooden boy.
- [Emily] Yeah! [claps]

- Leaping from the mass
of spiders pursuing him.

That's gonna bring us back
to the top of the order.

Muffet is going to once again
take her swings against Ylfa.

Muffet is going to once again
take her swings against Ylfa.

Let's see how she does here.
- I think we're already dead

if Ylfa didn't take some druid levels.

- Yeah, for sure. Absolutely.
[Emily chuckles]

- [Brennan] Okay, hits on one of them.

- Okay.

- You take

[dramatic instrumental music]

eight halved to four piercing damage.

- [Emily] Okay.
- Plus eight poison damage.

- [Emily] So 12 total.

- [Brennan] Which I don't think does half.

- No, it definitely doesn't.
- [Brennan] Cool.

So you see coming down
with the spoon [shouts]

and slashes across your face.

- Why would you fight
me? We could be friends.

- Nobody wants to be friends with me.

- Yeah, that's how I am, too.

They all look at you
like you were a monster.

You were special when you were young

and then you f*cking went through puberty

and now you're just ugly.

- Why would I walk all the
way to the top of a hill

to eat curds and whey by myself?

Why?
- You know what?

You gotta get in the story
circle with Mother Goose.

He will tell you the story

that will make you
leave this cursed world.

- Really?
- [Emily] yeah.

- I can leave? [snarls] And
you see that there's a moment

where literally her face starts to,

like, the chitin starts
to peel away from her face

and then grabs her back
almost like the spider

is like, grafted onto her.

- Oh...

- As it grafts back on, she
screams, kicks the web again.

Pib, you're gonna be joining
everyone else this time.

So this is again, Rosamund,
Pinocchio, and Pib

making this strength saving throw.

- A strength saving throw?

- [Brennan] Strength saving throw.

[Siobhan sighs]

- 12.

- 10.

- God damn it!

Six.

- [Brennan] Pib and
Pinocchio both go down.

Go ahead and give me dex saves.

- That is a 23.

- [Brennan] You are merely prone.

- Nice.

- That's eight.

- You are once again restrained.

As you are restrained once more,

you cannot help but
feel yourself once again

surrounded by strings on all sides.

- Great thematic stuff, dude.
[Brennan laughs]

Really great thematic stuff.

- These spiders are going to
start to take some swings.

These two are charmed by
you so they're just gonna-

- [Lou] No longer.

- [Brennan] Oh, no longer
charmed. Okay, thanks.

- But surely so disoriented-
- I mean, ladies.

- [Siobhan] Yeah.
- Ladies, come on!

- You've oriented yourself
in this very clever way.

They can't get to you. They
can only get to Pinocchi-Crow.

- Thank God.
- So let's take a look

and see what their movement is over here.

- [Lou] Pinocchi-Crow!
Die for me, Pinocchi-Crow!

[cast laughing]

- [Brennan] Okay, three of them
are coming for Pinocchi-Crow

who has an armor class of what again?

- 13.
- 13, that's two hits.

Immune to poison damage?
- Immune to poison damage.

- That's gonna be six damage.
- Okay.

- And then four damage.
- [Murph] Resistance, right?

So 10 goes to five.
- Oh, resistance.

- Yes, so that's gonna be three
damage and then two damage.

- Oh, Pinocchi-Crow's
got two hit points left.

- Insane!
- [Ally] Wow.

- Pinocchi-Crow, teach me your ways. -
You can't double up resistances, can you?

- [Brennan] No.
- Okay, great.

- Give me the con save from Pinocchi-Crow.

- Pinocchi-Crow's gonna con save.

- But Pinocchi-Crow's
immune to poison, right?

- This is for the injury.

This is for taking half.
- [Emily] Oh.

- Pinocchi-Crow got a five!
[cast laughing]

- Pinocchi-Crow's been kicking
a*s and is suddenly like,

feeling, gets a level of exhaustion

as these spiders keep descending.

- Hey Pinocchi-Crow, pick
this sh*t up, all right?

- No, Pinocchi-Crow!

- [Brennan] Now, you're prone at this-

- And restrained.
- Prone and restrained.

This is gonna be advantage.
What's your armor class?

- 90. Uh, 13.
[Ally and Siobhan chuckle]

- [Brennan] That is a miss.

- Oh.
- [Siobhan] Oh.

- As it went, [yelps] leaps.
- [Zac] What an idiot.

- An idiot, truly, you are caught in a web

and this spider can't take it.
- You should be attacking Pinocchi-Crow!

[Ally and Emily laughing]

- Okay, and these three
coming for Rosamund.

- Ay-yi-yi.

- That is one hit. Give me
a constitution saving throw.

- Eight.
- Okay.

So that's gonna be 16 points
of damage to Rosamund.

- I'm down.
- [Ally] God damn it.

- [Brennan] Rosamund goes
down surrounded by spiders. -
[Lou] I'm about to be so mad.

- [Siobhan] And my Zephyr Strike.

I didn't get to use it! f*ck, damn it.

- [Brennan] Zephyr Strike is gone.

[Siobhan sighs]
- [Brennan] Okay.

- [Emily] Okay.

- I had such a clutch move
coming up. God damn it.

- [Brennan] Rosamund-
- It's so annoying.

- I'm gonna need a death saving throw.

- Already?

- [Brennan] Yep, it's your turn.

- Ay-yi-yi.

- [Brennan] Great, that's a success.

Four attacks miss on Ylfa.

- [Murph] Nice.
- [Emily] Yeah!

- Pib, these are gonna be
against you with advantage.

- Advantage?
- [Brennan] You're prone.

- Oh.
- [Brennan] Yeah you're prone.

- Oh!
- Here we go again, folks.

Here we go again.
[dice rolling]

- That's a miss.
- [Murph] Nice.

- Okay.

- That's a miss.

- Didn't you say I was
giving him cover, though,

'cause I was like, going over him?

- [Brennan] From Muffet.
- Oh, okay, from Muffet.

- That is one hit against Pib.

Give me a constitution saving throw.

- Okay.
[tense music]

That's a five.

- Okay, you are going to take...

- Sheesh.

I'm still, that's more than
half, but I have four HP left.

I'm still, that's more than
half, but I have four HP left.

- Okay, give me a
constitution saving throw.

- 19 on the die.

- Hell yeah, you are
not exhausted by this.

You can see spiders surrounding Rosamund,

spiders moving towards Pinocchio.

Things are looking dire
here, but Muffet is wounded.

- And has Faerie Fire.
- And has Faerie Fire.

Pib, that's you.

- I use half my movement to
stand up, crawl on top of Ylfa.

- [Brennan] Cool.
- To get off of the web.

- [Brennan] Good, yep.
- Get away from me, please.

- [Emily] Just a cat and a
spider. There's nothing spookier!

[Ally and Brennan laughing]
- The closest person to me

that I really feel like I can help,

I'll use my Mastermind Master of Tactics

to give you the help action.
- Nice.

- [Brennan] Cool.
- Thanks, Pib.

- Ah, you're welcome. Let's
not all die this time.

And I'm gonna, I have Faerie
Fire on Muffet, right?

- You have advantage, yep.
- [Ally] Yes, you got it.

- [Zac] Come on.
- Crit, m*therf*cker!

- Can I make first, like, is there...

Would it cause an action to like,

inspect the spoon that I can
see in the Faerie Fire or?

- No, it would not cause an action.

You can inspect the spoon.

- Okay.
[die taps table]

- It's a solid inspection.

- [Brennan] Investigation.
- Investigation 17.

- It looks like it is magical.

It looks like this is a magical weapon

that Muffet is wielding.

- But did it seem like related

to the plate that we met earlier?

- Quite possibly, mm-hmm.
- Okay.

I think this spoon maybe knows the plate!

- Oh, you've got the dish in your book.

- Yeah.
- I'm going to then attack it.

- Attack Muffet.
- [Zac] Muffet, yeah.

- Cool, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- The dish is so depressing

that the spoon will give up.
- That's true.

It's not the dish at the best-

- That's a hit. That's a 18 plus six.

- Yes, that is a hit. Go
ahead and roll damage.

- Did you add those two extra
rage damage, by the way?

- Two extra, yes, I did.
- 'Cause I forgot, okay.

- 16 damage.

- Pib, you climb back up onto Ylfa

and another thing comes out and this time

you see it injures something
further up on the torso.

And you see normally it's
been weird like spider goo,

but this time you see [mimics sloshing]

something creamy white and
chunky start to pour out,

and it looks like curds and whey.

- [Zac] Okay...
- [Brennan] Pouring out.

- The story's eating itself.
[Brennan groans]

- This horrifying groan
comes from her voice.

You see Muffet looks hurt,
is looking quite hurt.

Ylfa, that's you.
- Okay, since I have reach,

can I go after that
exact spot that he hit?

- Yeah, absolutely.

- Okay, it's Faerie Fire, right?

So I can roll with advantage.

- [Brennan] You have advantage.
Yep, go ahead and roll.

- [Ally] You got it,
you got it, you got it.

- Okay, come on. Come on, baby.

Oh my God!
- [Murph] Jesus.

- I'm gonna throw up.
- [Murph] This is insane.

- Wash your dice.
- [Lou] Throw up.

- I got a nine to hit.
- [Brennan] That is a miss.

- I rolled a three and a four.
- [Murph] Jesus.

- I hate myself and-
- No!

- I will use a bonus action
to expel my final spell slot

to get six hit points
back to my spider form.

- [Brennan] Okay.

- And then I think I've got you on my back

and I say, I think we're where
we're supposed to be, right?

- I mean, I don't know
where else to go, yeah.

- I think that we should be here.

I look up at Miss Muffet and I'm like,

yeah, I'm a f*cking monster,
but I apparently can't hit you.

[Brennan and Ally laughing]

- I'm having a really hard time
hitting you. - Yeah, right?

I think it's because we know
if this wasn't going on,

we would totally be friends.

- [Brennan] We would be friends.

Mother Goose, that is your turn.

- Okay, I will use my
final second-level slot

to cast Shatter again.
- [Brennan] Hell yeah.

- I would love to hit Miss Muffet

and as many of these little guys as I can.

I think maybe it's the three.

- [Emily] Like the
little Faerie Fire ones.

- Awesome, so here's 10-foot radius.

I think you can get two little
spiders fighting Red and Pib

or you can get the one
that's attacking Pinocchio.

- Are you guys good or
should I try to help him

a little bit more?
- I think you should...

I don't know what you think.

I'm feeling this spider's
gotta f*cking go.

- Yeah, she's definitely
getting hit no matter what.

- [Emily] Oh, okay.
- So it's her and whoever.

- Oh, get the little guy closest

'cause Pib's on my back now
so I'm taking all the damage.

- All right, go ahead and
roll your damage for Shatter.

- [Ally] Okay.

[tense music]
[dice rattling]

Yes! 16.
- 16 damage?

- Mm-hmm.
- Hell yeah.

Muffet makes her save.

This one doesn't and is just
immediately shattered apart.

- [Ally] Yes.
- [Emily] Yeah.

- You see Muffet recoils. [screams]

Once again, writing more words here.

- I'm writing silver spoon.
- [Brennan] Silver spoon.

- I'm writing curds and whey.
- Curds and whey.

Just writing as many
words as you can think of.

When you write Tuffeton, you
see that just the first part,

tuffet stays.
- Okay.

- Any bonus actions from Mother Goose?

- I have one last spell slot.

- [Murph] You can't use a spell.

- Oh, yeah, yeah. Right, of course.

- [Brennan] You could
use Bardic Inspiration.

- [Murph] Bardic, yeah.
- Bardic.

- Oh, oh.
- Oh, that's great.

- Cool, cool, cool. Gerard,
it's gonna be your turn.

- Okay, Pib.
- Yeah?

- I don't know if you can see it.

I don't know what it has
to do with Goldilocks,

but there's some white
chunky stuff coming out.

- I'm not sure that we're
talking about this...

We're not speaking the same language.

- Right, okay, so there
was the bear before.

Okay, I need you to throw it

where the injury is already,
if that makes sense.

I'm reading the book and it
says that that's very effective.

- Okay, of course.

- So I'm gonna use another superiority die

to give Pib an attack.

- Do I still have advantage?

- You do still have advantage.
- [Emily] Yeah, Faerie Fire.

- Yeah, from Faerie Fire.

And you have Bardic Inspiration as well.

- [Emily] Yeah.
- So, okay.

- Come on.

- [Ally] Come on, Pib.

- Does a...

Does a 18 hit?
- 18 does not hit.

- I'm gonna use my-
- Bardic, bardic, oh.

- My, because it's probably
pretty close, the Tabaxi thing

where I can add the people
I can see within 30 feet.

So I add like, two to this.

- [Brennan] So that's a dirty 20?

- Dirty 20.
- [Brennan] You succeed.

- [Emily] Yeah!
- [Ally] Nice!

- So I add...

- And a d8.
- A d8 to this.

- And you still get sneak attack.

- Come on, come on. [claps]

- 'Cause it's per turn as sneak attack.

- Gerard and Puss in Boots
working very well together.

- Okay...
- Ooh!

- Okay.
- Okay.

- Not great, but...

- It looked really good for a second.

- [Lou] I mean, look at
all those dice rolled.

- 17.
- Pib, another knife flies out

from your paws. [mimics wind whooshing]

You see it splits this sort of wound up,

and a true torrent of curds and whey

are just pouring out of Muffet.

You can hear the noise of them falling

into the blackness below
you into the cavern.

And far away you can hear the splattering

like a quarter of a mile down.
- No, no!

- Oh no.

- Call that "just right" porridge.

- Gerard, anything else from you?

- Yes.
[Lou chuckling]

I'm going to look at Tim and
go, Timothy, I'm so sorry.

- Mm-mm.

- I need to do another
courageous act of cowardice.

- [Ally] Get it.
- And I'm gonna jump

as far as I can to try
to get between Pinocchio

and these dudes so they
can't swarm Pinocchio.

- Hell yeah. You leap,
boing, through the area here.

You have dark vision,
so that's all groovy.

You're gonna get right here.
- [Murph] Yeah.

- Boom, hell yes. Another swing.

This one's going for Ylfa.

That's a miss.
- 17 armor class. [chuckles]

- Ylfa, what a f*cking tank,
just. [mimics wind whipping]

That giant spider misses there.

Before they can feed on Rosamund,

Gerard, you've given them a fresh target

thus sparing Rosamund
of failed death saves.

Incredibly quick thinking
as you go through your book.

As you go through your book
of f*cking sword forms.

Two attacks coming at you.
Not an act of cowardice.

- [Ally] Mm-mm.
- No, no.

- Not an act of cowardice.

Two misses against you
[mimics wind howling]

[Emily cheers]
as they come for you.

- [Siobhan] Great.
- [Ally] Oh my God.

- Pinocchio.
- Okay!

Do I get the sense that
those three spiders

are concentrated on Pinocchi-Crow

or do they seem like they still wanna,

they'll try and come around for me?

- It seems like they are
concentrated on Pinocchi-Crow

in order to get to you.
- Got it.

I think from restrained,

I'm gonna Eldritch Blast Miss Muffet.

- [Murph] Nice.
- [Ally] Nice.

- [Murph] Yeah, we gotta just-
- [Emily] Yeah, we gotta go after her.

- Hell yeah, now, do you have a help?

'Cause from prone you have
disadvantage on attack rolls.

- But it's Faerie Fire so it's advantage.

- Yeah, so it's a straight roll.

- Okay, but I have this
help action, but I can't...

- [Ally] No, but you can use
the help action to get up.

- But standing up is my action, correct?

- If all Pinocchi-Crow is
doing is blocking those spiders

from getting to you,
Pinocchi-Crow could attempt

to use an action to get you up

out of a restrained condition.

- Pinocchi-Crow is gonna
do what he does best,

peck at some damn webs.

- Give me an attack.
- Okay.

Come on, f*cking Pinocchi-Crow.

That is gonna be a 16 from Pinocchi-Crow.

- Give me the piercing damage.

- Come on, Pinocchi-Crow.
What's he gotta beat?

- It's gonna be five.

- He needs to beat two.

f*ck!
- Oh, why?

- Four points of pecking damage.

- Four points of pecking damage,

not enough to get through the webs.

You can roll your Eldritch Blast straight.

- [Emily] It's still flat, though.

That's good. That's what we normally get.

- It's still flat. It's still flat.

- You could crit and then
it would all be over.

- [Emily] Yeah!

- Oh my God, if you just crit there now.

- Come on, Pinocchio, please!
- Come on, Pinocchio.

- This is plus six.

- 21 hits.

- [Ally] Nice.
- [Emily] Yes!

- Go ahead and roll damage.

- I'm gonna throw up, dude.

That's six points of damage.
- Six points of damage.

- I'll take any damage.

- The spell flies from your hand.

This is your first time we're
seeing your Eldritch blast.

What does it look like?

- It's visions of my strings
that go through the air

and wrap around Miss Muffet.

- Did Pinocchio just throw webs? [laughs]

[Emily laughing]
- No.

- Everyone's a f*cking spider,

is that what you're telling me?

- I'm not a spider!

- Pinocchio, you fire your spell.

[Brennan mimics spell impact and screams]

Once against seeing Muffet damaged.

Muffet is going to take, once again,

three attacks against Ylfa.

- You know you don't wanna do this.

Do you know what goes really
good with curds and why?

A little maple syrup.
Grandma taught me that.

- First attack is going to be

- Okay.

- And then the next
attack is just gonna be 10

halved to five slashing.
- Yes!

- This time you see
she actually bites you.

So her little girl face comes down

and two spider mandibles squish out

from behind these pearly,
white teeth and... [chomps]

- Hey, I'll trade bites in
the name of girl bonding.

- [laughs] Are you still in spider form?

- [Emily] Yeah.
- God, that's so beefy!

[Emily laughing]
Unbelievable!

- [Murph] So good.

- She's gonna kick the web again.

This time only Gerard
needs to make a save.

- [Murph] Great.
- [Lou] You've got it, Gerard.

- [Siobhan] You got it, Gerard.

- Famously good at rolling.
- Do you have a bardic?

- No.
- Okay.

- Oh.
- [Emily] Ooh!

- 18.
- You succeed!

You boing, bounce very
hippity-hoppity with the web moving.

- Right.
- And now the babies

are going to close in, one, two, three,

four, five, six, seven.

Seven attacks.
- I'm done with these.

I'm done with the spiders.
- [Emily] AC is 17.

[dice rattling]

- [Murph] Ylfa, you f*cking beast.

- The fact that I haven't
rolled a nat 20 is insane. Okay.

- The fact that I haven't
rolled a nat 20 is insane. Okay.

- Now you know how we feel.

We also have not rolled a nat 20.

- Do you know that I have
a plus five to constitution

and failed all four of those?

- Go ahead and start rolling me

five constitution saving throws, Ylfa.

- [Siobhan] Ay-yi-yi. - Yeah, you
want some dice? Start using mine.

- I can't believe Rick Perry had time

to make all these spiders

with all the chicken tandoori he's making.

[Siobhan laughing]

- [Emily] Ah, that's a
fail. That's also a fail.

- [Murph] These are retired.

Use these.
[Emily laughing]

- [Emily] That's a pass! Okay,
I'm using Murph's dice now.

That's also a pass!
- [Ally] Nice.

- [Siobhan] Wow, Murph's dice it is.

- [Emily] So two fails.
- [Brennan] Pinocchi-Crow,

that's one hit on Pinocchi-Crow.
- Okay.

- So let's resolve the easy one first.

Give me, Pinocchi-Crow
takes six piercing damage.

- Halved to three. Pinocchi-Crow vanishes.

[crow cawing]
- [Zac] No!

- [Brennan] Then they use
their movement to close in

on the prone Pinocchio.

- Where did f*cking Pinocchi-Crow go?

- So how many did you fail
and how many did you succeed?

- I only failed two.
- Only failed two.

So we'll do the ones you failed first.

- [Murph] Oh boy.
- Okay.

- And I'm halving your piercing damage

so don't worry about that.
- [Emily] Okay.

[ominous music]

- 11 damage on the first attack.

- Okay, I [bones cracking]
become Ylfa again.

- Give me the dex save as you-
- [Zac] Oh, yeah, yeah.

- Drop out of this form.

[ominous music continues]
[die taps table]

- Nat one.
- [Murph] God damn!

- You go prone and restrained.
- Prone and restrained, damn.

- [Brennan] You've marked your hit points?

- Yeah.
- They get through your other form.

This is the next one that you failed.

- Uh-huh.
- Which is going to be...

[whispered] Two and seven.

Nine points of damage on that next attack.

- Okay.

[tense music]

- And then there's three
where you succeeded, right?

- Yeah, was I supposed
to do more than that?

- [Brennan] Yeah, there
was one more attack.

- I failed the other one.

- Here comes the next
one. That's gonna be-

- [Lou] Spiders be jumping.

- Eight points of damage on that one.

- Okay, and then that, I have to do...

That's half my hit points.

- Okay, go ahead and give
me a con save, DC 10.

- I got a 10 on the dice!

- [Brennan] Hell yeah, there you go.

- That's maybe my first
double digits of the day.

- [Ally] Oh my God.
- [Siobhan] Oy.

- Okay, you made that save.

Now there's two attacks
coming in where you succeeded.

- Yeah.

- Wow, okay. Three points of
damage on that next attack.

- That's halved?
- That's already halved.

Does that prompt another saving throw?

- Yes, it does.
- [Brennan] Okay.

- 13.
- Okay, last one.

That's eight points of damage.

- I'm down.
[energy powering down]

- [Brennan] Boom.
- [Emily] f*ck.

- Ylfa goes down.

However, that is the end of the
little infant spiders' turn.

Rosamund, another death save.

[chime rings]
- It's a pass.

- That's a success.
Pib, you are restrained.

- Who's within 30 feet to
get a help action from me?

I can't really tell.

- [Brennan] Mother Goose
and I think let's see-

- And I'm gonna need to get up and-

- [Murph] Pinocchio's gonna need it.

- Oh yeah, Pinocchio.

- I'll give Pinocchio the help action.

- [Brennan] Cool.
- And I'm just gonna wait.

- Okay, you give Pinocchio the help action

and you ready an action for
someone threatens Muffet

to get your attack.

Let me get a death save from Ylfa.

- Okay.
[die taps table]

Nat 20. No, 17. I did pass.

- [Brennan] Pass, hell yeah.
- Where were you?

[Siobhan laughing]
Where were you?

- I would like to use my action
to get up out of restrained.

- Out of restrained. You got it.

You can either attack the webbing

or you can give me a strength check.

- I'll have to do a strength.

- Here's the strength check.

- Five?

- You do not get up.
You have a bonus action.

- Then I will bonus action
Healing Word to Ylfa.

- Hell yeah, go for it.

- Nice!

Okay, d4 plus my
spellcasting ability modifier

so that's eight.
- [Brennan] Eight hit points.

[Emily inhales deeply]
Ylfa, you start prone

on your back, and because
you are threatening

you may immediately attack,
it's a straight roll.

- Straight roll.

- Can I write something
more about the spider?

Did I get any new insight?

- Yeah, I'll let you start,

but we'll resolve it in a minute.

- Come on, come on, come on.
- Come on, come on, come on.

- Nat 20.
- Yes, yes!

[cast cheering with relief]
- Yes!

Oh, oh, and it's with
these Dark Soul dice.

- Yes, yes!
- [Siobhan] Yes!

At last, my God.
- [Emily] Oh!

- I'm gonna throw up.
[cast laughing]

- [Ally] I'm gonna throw up.

- All right, so that's

- Come on, come on.

- 25 damage.
- Yes!

- Okay, so to see the death blow mechanic,

we immediately are gonna roll a save here.

This is a death blow save.
- [Ally] Damn it.

- You did 25 halved. That's
actually higher than 10.

That's 12. If she rolls a six
or below she's instantly dead.

That's 12. If she rolls a six
or below she's instantly dead.

[tense music]
[Siobhan exhales softly]

Six or below, instant death.

[tense music intensifies]

[die taps Box of Doom]

- Well...
- Okay.

- Makes the save for
the death blow mechanic,

but I wrote down how many
hit points she had left

and it was 15. [laughs]
[cast cheering]

- Oh my God!

- Oh my good God.

- She's been dead this whole time.

- So Mother Goose, you
write in this last book.

Peering behind, you look and
see this little girl turns

Peering behind, you look and
see this little girl turns

to look at you and you
suddenly have a memory

of this new life of yours.

You remember there was a little girl.

She was always very lonely.

She would walk over the top
of this big hill under a tree

and often eat meals by herself.

She had a little stool she
would bring up with her,

a cushion to sit on.

Very timid, very shy.

Suddenly, Little Miss
Muffet sat on a tuffet.

- Curds and whey!

- [laughs] With that spell,
[mimics magic whipping]

Healing Word, Ylfa you snarl up,

and just you being awake and alive

to grab one of those spider
feet, Muffet goes off balance.

Pib, was does it look
like as you finish it?

- I'm sorry, little girl.
[cast laughing]

Feels bad.

- Your knife does not find
that sickening spider body.

You see another opportunity,
a crack in story.

You [mimics wind slicing] shear something

and hear almost a page being sheared.

As your dagger disappears
into time and space,

light fills the cavern.
[mimics magic reverberating]

And as it fills the cavern,
you see a new form appears.

- [Siobhan] Goldilocks.
- [laughs] It's Goldilocks.

And you see-
- [Ally] Little Miss Muffet.

- It's Little Miss Muffet with a-

- [Emily] Does she have a spider face?

- [Brennan] She has a spider face.

- [Ally] Cute.
- [Emily] Aw.

- And as sort of like,
thing that we realized

was this spider sort
of monstrous carapace,

as that falls away and thuds
into the web, retreating,

dying, you see this little
girl land and go, [gasps]

and immediately take a little dollop

of curds and whey out of her bowl

and throw it on Rosamund
for one hit point.

[Siobhan grunts]
- [Ally] Yes.

[Siobhan groans]
[Emily laughs]

- She looks at all of you and goes,

Oh, I'm not a spider anymore.

- You're kind of a spider.
- Oh no.

I feel like I was hurting
some of you. I'm so sorry.

- Oh, I mean...
- No, we're good.

- Are you okay?
- I think so, I'm trying...

I don't...

Are we in a giant web?

- Yes, and we are in your web, I believe.

- I'm scared of spiders!

- Aw.
- Oh gosh, that's hard.

You are a spider.
- What?

- You're a little bit of a spider still.

- You see that she says like,

Yeah, when I would go up there to eat,

I think one day a spider came down

and it scared me really bad.

And I just, I wanted to get
away as fast as I could,

but something strange happened after that.

Mother Goose, you feel the
end of the end rhyme coming

for you to transcribe here.

I'm gonna sort of leave it to
you as you look at your friends

and you look around.

You see this, very similar to Ylfa,

this like, scared monstrous kid.

There's a world right now where
you could finish this rhyme

and sort of put Little
Miss Muffet into the book

and sort of put Little
Miss Muffet into the book

and kind of just like, seal her away,

but you see that you
sort of feel the weird

kind of spider form that
no longer has this like,

little girl captured in it, so to speak.

And you almost feel

like you could seal that in
the book if you wanted to.

Something about that
final attack from Pib,

you kind of see these
weird cracks of reality,

sort of remnants of your Shatter spell.

And you feel like you can either

bring Little Miss Muffet into that

or you could take that
sort of spider monstrosity

and seal that in the book.

- Probably the spider part.
- Yeah.

- [Murph] I think that's what the
other team needs, yeah. - Because
that's what Scheherazade needs.

- Yeah, so I write the spider story.
- [Zac] Get rid of the little girl.

- Along came a spider
and sat down beside her

and frightened Miss Muffet away.

And you see, [mimics
wind rustling] that form

[mimics wind rushing]
vanishes into the book.

There's a momentary breath
and then you hear scritching

from in Scheherazade's
flowing script you see,

Got it, you're a champ, thank you so much.

We'll holler back as soon
as we're out of here.

- Whoa, cool. Is Miss
Muffet still with us?

- And you see Little Miss Muffet is there,

but looks at her story in
the book and sees it glowing.

but looks at her story in
the book and sees it glowing.

And she sort of walks up and
holds up a hand and says,

Can I touch it?

- [Murph] Uh, mm...
- Uh...

- If I were in her shoes, I'd want to.

- And they don't get sucked
in immediately, right?

- [Murph] Yes.

- Sometimes it's just
like, horrifying sh*t.

Does this look like what you...

Are there any, like, illustrations of her?

- There don't appear to be
any illustrations of her.

- [whisper] She might not
have to be a spider anymore

if she touches it.

- I think I say, we're
gonna, you know what?

We're gonna wait on the book a little bit,

but you and Ylfa could play with...

And I have like a string

that's kinda like the cat's cradle thing.

I don't know if you guys wanna like...

- I immediately just shred
it apart. [laughs] Whoops.

- You see, Ylfa, you
look over and see Muffet

looks like a little heartbroken

to be told by the adults
here to not touch the book.

Oh, okay....

- Let her touch the book.
- I, well, okay...

You can definitely touch
the book if you want to,

but sometimes you'll
see really scary things.

And as I'm saying this
out loud I'm realizing,

you maybe just saw the scariest
stuff you're ever gonna see

in your whole life 'cause
you were in a big spider,

and the spider was full of cottage cheese,

so yeah, if you want to touch the book...

- You see she reaches up
a hand, touches the book.

And I think as she does so,

all of you here have
this moment of watching.

You've all changed
pretty monstrously, too.

And I think some of you
have even had conversations,

especially like Rosamund,
the conversation you had

with Cinderella about like,

do these stories belong to us or not?

And you see she touches the book

and you see the illustration appears.

And the illustration
appears of her running away

from a spider on a hill

and her bowl sort of falling to the side.

And it's just like a
little spider coming down.

And she looks at it, and you
see a door start to open up,

golden light in the book.

And then she looks, and you
see Muffet takes a second

of looking like, [gasps]

like oh, I could get
out of this nasty cave

with this terrible spiderweb.

But she stops for a second.

She goes, Am I always
supposed to be scared?

- No.

- She keeps a hand on the book
but looks and you and says,

Who are you guys?

- We're people who are
also in this scary time,

but we believe that it doesn't
always have to be so scary.

- And sometimes I think

you have to be a little
bit scary in scary times.

- She looks at the illustration,
and I think again, Ylfa,

you look at and just see her
looking and see her going like,

Oh, in this illustration I
don't have a spider head,

but I'm still running from a spider.

She looks at it and goes,

So you just, you go around helping people?

- Yeah.

- We're more survivors.
- We try to, but yeah.

- And sometimes that means
teaming up, being friends.

- We're all kind of versions of ourselves

that we weren't a couple days ago

that are scary to us as well.

- I m*rder*d a woossman.

Woods, woodsman, sorry.
[coughs] Some spiderweb.

- I think a lot of the people in Tuffeton

are in cocoons and I spun them up.

- Okay, maybe we can kinda
get them out of there.

- [Zac] Chop 'em down or whatever.

- Are there any bears?

- When you say bears, her eyes go wide.

She says, I've seen bears.

- Of course you have.
[Brennan and Emily laughing]

- She looks at her hand, takes
a look at the golden door

to go into the book as you've written it.

And you see that she just
goes, You guys saved me.

And you see that she just
goes, You guys saved me.

And she takes her hand off and goes,

I want to help you guys.

- [Ally] Oh, great.

- All right.
- You're welcome to help us.

We definitely need help.

- Do you need anything made out of silk?

- Oh my goodness, I thought
you would never ask.

- And that's where we're
gonna end this episode

of "Dimension 20: Neverafter."

Tune in next week as we continue

into the lands of the
times of shadow, farewell!

- Well, let's like, head to town.

We'll probably be welcomed as heroes.

It'll be a good-a*s time.

- [Siobhan] Curds and whey

for everybody.
- [Murph] Hear, hear.

[ominous music]
[wind roars]

- Oh, still rain.
- Not again.

- [Brennan] Still rain.
- Oh, wow.

- Damn.
- Most curious.

- Oh wait, I don't think we've
introduced this mechanic.

- [Brennan] At any cost!
- Okay, okay!

[cast shouting]
- Okay, everybody-

[Brennan shrieking]

- We're off. [shouts]

- It was a joke, Brennan.

- Deep in your hearts,
do you feel that you are-

- Mm, damn.

- Ooh.

- Some sort of doorway to another world.

- I don't know that I want that.

- Oh.
- Oh.

- If they're horrible, we'll k*ll them.

- Ooh, watch out.
- Ooh.

- Are they all dead?
- Oh no.

- How did they know?

[Brennan moans agonizingly]

- [Brennan] You watch.

- What, excuse me? What, is this real?

- I slam the book.

[cast laughing]
- Oh no!

- Oh no!
- f*ck, dude.

- Oh!
- Yes!

- Yes!
[cast cheering]

- What?
- Is that gonna work?

- What are we doing?
- Hey, shut up.

- [Siobhan] Deep darkness.

- I think it's important
that we're honest about this.

- Everything that's
happening is very scary,

but I think that maybe
these are the people

that we need to be to
survive in this world.

[dramatic music]

[sinister music]

[sinister music continues]
