Crew, we need to prepare

for Great Aunt Bernice's
epic treasure hunt tomorrow.

Aye-aye, Captain.

I can't wait to get through the cave
and find the treasure before other teams.

Exactly how dark and scary
is the cave going to be?

It might be dark, but don't sweat it,
caves are my specialty.

At least they are
in my favorite video game, Cave Crawlers.

As long as we're prepared,
we won't get scared.

So, let's hunt for ideas in a brainstorm.

the stalactites and stalagmites are.

[chuckles] What are those?

[giggles] Stalac-tites look like teeth
and hang down from cave ceilings.

And stalag-mites rise up
from the ground like mini mountains.

Cool. If we know where the… uh…

Stalactites and stalagmites.

Yeah, those. Then we can get around them.

Great idea, Ada.

If I find a map of the cave,
I can memorize it

so I know every tunnel
backwards and forwards--

Ah! Oof! [crashes]

Ugh. Oops!

Fab-tastic.

But what if I made a Rosie Wrangler?

A thing-a-ma-popper that can squeeze
through the teeniest, tiniest cave cracks.

Cool!

[gasps] I'll bring rock-climber ropes
to tie us so we don't lose each other.

I use them in Cave Crawler.
But we can use them in real life too.

Love that idea.

Okay, team, I think we're ready
for the treasure hunt tomorrow.

[all laughing]

-Hey, superstars!

Ready to lose the treasure to us?

I'm so psyched to explore Crystal Cave.
We should team up.

What kinds of fossils
do you think we'll find inside?

-Pterodactyl toes.

Maybe stegosaurus spikes.

What's the cane for?
Is it your tool for the treasure hunt?

No, I'm blind. I can't see,
so my cane helps me get around.

-Works great for echolocation too.
-[cane beeps]

"Echo-vacation" sounds fun.

Is that like going to an echo-y place
like a canyon to hear your voice echo?

[laughs] No, "echolocation."
It's a new skill I've been learning.

I can't wait to practice more today.

It's a way to find things
around you by sensing echoes.

Animals like dolphins and bats do it

so they can find food in the dark
and don't bump into stuff.

Yup. Like with bats,
they make super-fast chirps.

Like this? [chirping]

Nailed it.

Then, they listen for echoes.

That's when sound waves
reflect off of each other.

I tap my cane and listen to how long
it takes the sound to bounce back.

That tells me what's around me
and how close it is.

So your brain makes
a blueprint of wherever you are?

-Yup!
-Mind blown!

That's insane in the mainframe.

But what if there are
cave trolls or falling rocks,

how will you know they're coming?

-Cave trolls?
-Yeah, cave trolls!

Please. I'm faster than falling rocks,
and way tougher than any cave troll.

Don't worry, Benny.
We're a team, so we'll help each other.

-All right, listen up!
-[gasps] It's treasure hunting time!

-I hid a gem deep inside Crystal Cave.
-[kids gasp]

The first team to bring it back

gets to pick a prize
out of my marvelous mystery box.

-[Rosie] Me!
-[all cheering]

I'll be right outside,

but if you get in trouble,
holler on your walkie,

and I'll be there faster
than a phoenix in a firestorm.

-Got maps?

-Walkies?
-Yup!

Then on your marks,
get set, go get the treasure!

[all cheering]

[London] Look out, treasure,
'cause here we come.

[Ada] Wow! Check out these stalagmites.

Just like mini mountains.

Stone cold.

[sniffs] And it smells funny.

Like rotten eggs.

So, that means there are
mini stalagmite mountains

at the cave entrance.

Sometimes they smell funny
depending on what they're made of.

I wonder if there are
stalactite teeth at the back of the cave.

Let's find out.

Oh! The map says
there's a shortcut this way. Come on!

I'm so happy
I brought my Cave Crawler rope.

-You good, Pepper?
-Yup.

-Rocks right, pebbles left.
-Benny, stalagmite!

-[gasps, crashes]
-[all gasp]

-I've got you, B.
-[chuckles]

Oh, no! Puddles.

Don't worry, Pepper-- Aw, troubleshoot!

I think we're halfway to the gem.

It's so dark, I can't find it!

[Bernice] Kids, looks like
the power generator's on the fritz.

But don't worry, I'll be there
quicker than a rabbit in a race car.

We can't find the treasure in the dark!

And the other team's
way closer to it than we are.

-I think we just lost the treasure.
-Ugh!

I never even got a chance
to use my Rosie Wrangler. [sighs]

That means there's a wall nearby.
[shudders] I feel something chilly.

[sniffs] Ew!
And it smells like stinky eggs.

Which means I'm next to…

Mountainous stalagmites!

You've got skills. Wish I could do that.

You can! People use echolocation
and their other senses all the time.

You don't know you're doing it.

Like how my voice echoes
in a big empty room,

but not in a teeny tiny closet?

Or how I know there's
banana bread in the kitchen

if I smell it from the balcony?

[sniffs] Mmm… Banana bread.

Exactly! We all have different skills.

Ada knows tons about rocks,

Iggy memorized the cave's design,

Rosie's wrangler can
squeeze into anywhere,

and Benny'll make sure
we're tied together and safe.

Yeah, and as long as we're prepared,
we won't get scared.

So, let's put our skills to the test
and find that treasure.

-It's on.
-[Iggy] Okay.

[Pepper] Go team.

[cane tapping]

[cane beeps, echos]

Guys? There are three paths
in front of us. Which way do we go?

Hmm.

[gasps] Ooh!The shortcut's that way.

-[gasps] Guys, I think we've found it!
-[Iggy] Yes!

[gasps] Now we just gotta
squeeze through and grab it.

Stand back, people.

This is the moment
the Rosie Wrangler was made for.

[Rosie strains]

-[all cheering]

we'd be stuck inside this cave forever.

[gasps]

So, we're close to the entrance.

[all gasping, cheering]

-I see a light!
-We're almost there!

[all gasp]

Whoa! Cave troll!

Oh, no!

Not today, troll.

-Pepper Power Punch!
-Whoa!

-Sugar! It's just me.
-[kids gasp]

Whoops. Sorry, Miss Bernice.

Oh, don't sweat it, honey bun. [chuckles]
I'm just glad you're all okay.

And it looks like
the Questioneers found the gem.

So, who wants to open
the marvelous mystery box?

-I think it should be Pepper!
