01x17 - Blastaar, the Living Bomb-Burst

Whatcha fiddlin' with now, stretcho?This

is a time-space dimension machine, Ben.

Quick, Johnny, weld those two parts

together for me. Right, Reed. Flame on!

Oh, right there!

That did it. Now let's take a look at the

scanner. What good does it do?Well,

if we're ever going to explore the outer

limits, machines like this will be needed

to program a journey. With this machine

and scanner, we can pinpoint every star

and planet in the universe. What's that

one planet flashing off and on for? We'll

zoom in for a close-up and find out, Sue.

It looks as though there's a battle of

some sort taking place on the planet. You

see the patterns of the explosions?I only

wish we could get even closer to find out

what's going on.

Fools, I'll destroy everyone on this

planet from not bowing to the will of

Glastar. Glastar

will ruin our planet unless we get rid of

him.

They've radioed our rocket ships to

subcue him with cordon gas, the

strongest weapon on our planet. It is our

only hope.

What manner of weapon is this?

He's too powerful to remain on our

planet. While he's stunned, we must exile

him to the debris on outer space.

Now to put him in a titanium capsule suit

before we exile him.

The explosions have stopped. There's only

one way to find out what's actually going

on on that distant planet. I must enter

the inner chamber of the time-space

dimension machine and explore it in

space. Reed, it's never been tried

before. I'm afraid! Someone has to try it

sooner or later, Sue. I'm the logical

one. I don't like this, Stretch. How do I

keep in touch with you?We can communicate

via the trans-barrier phone, Ben. I have

my mini-transmitter on.

Something's gone haywire!The inner

chamber of the machine is drawing me into

it!

Don't, Ben, don't! Reed is the only one

who knows what's going on in there.

Quick, try to contact him on the phone.

Reed, this is Ben. Can you hear me, fella?

Reed, I'm calling you! I see him! I

see him! I see Reed! Wait a minute!

Something's coming through. I'll put it

on the loudspeaker so you can all hear.

I miscalculated something and I'm being

swept into the negative zone. There's no

return and nothing you can do to help me.

Can you hear us, Reed?I'm caught in the

debris belt being drawn toward the

exploding area around the Earth. There's

no way to check my speed. It's like

trying to stop gravity itself. Tell us

what to do and we'll do it. Don't give

up, pal. I still can communicate. But

it's hopeless. My speed is increasing and

I'm almost out of range. Only one chance.

And I don't want to ask the torch to do

it. But he's the only one who can

withstand the heat and possibly generate

the speed to reach me. What is it, Reed?

Tell me and I'll do it. You have to turn

your flame up and in overheat and give it

every ounce of energy once you pass

through the machine and into the negative

zone. But it's no use, Johnny. We're

wasting time. Open the thing and give it

a good slam after I'm inside.

Wish me luck! Flame on!

Hang on, Reed! I'm coming!

We're as close as we dare get to the

expl*si*n area!We must exile blast

hour here in the debris belt before the

gas wears off.

What's that?A spacecraft here in the

negative zone. Hey!

Too late. They're traveling too fast.

Maybe if I can maneuver to that space

rock. It's not moving as fast as I am.

Hang on, Reed, I'm coming!

Johnny, I can't believe it. Tell me what

to do, boss, and we'll get out of here.

There's hardly any time left, Johnny.

Throw a supernova blast into the

expl*si*n area. The recoil might throw us

clear of the debris. It's worth a try,

Reed. Here goes!

Another second would have been too late.

Thanks, Johnny. Forget it, boss. The

Fantastic Four wouldn't be the same

without you. Come on.

This is the right direction. Soon we'll

be able to re-enter our machine. I've

done it. I'm free once more. I have

been exiled from subspace. I

must find a new haven, a new world, and

wish to avenge my hatred.

What's this? Two figures. They go where

none have gone before, but they will not

go alone.

There's something on the scanner. It's

them, Ben! There's no sign of them in the

inner chamber.

Oh, something's making sound. Quick!

Open the door!

You and Johnny are bad! I can hardly

believe it myself, Ben.

Thanks, Heaven, you're both safe. Let's

go in the den and hear all about it.

Okay, Sue, let's go.

I know not what world I have entered, but

the beings here will be no match for the

power of Blastar.

This world is stranger and more primitive

than I suspected. It will soon be

mine.

You're watching

I can't believe you're both home, safe

and sound. Yeah, but I think something

funny's going on. Relax, Ben. There's

nothing to worry about now. We're all

together again. There!

What did I text?What is that?An

earthquake?I don't know, but

I'll find out.

I don't know who you are, mister, but

cool those blasts.

Flame out! Can't stop falling! Need

my help, Junior?

What's up, Johnny? There's some giant up

there, Reed. Maybe we all ought to go up

and check him out.

Identify yourself and stop throwing those

powerballs around. I am the great

blast star. Who are you?I am

Reed Richards. What is your purpose here?

I have no time to talk to you. This

planet shall soon be mine.

Reed, are you all right?Yes, but Johnny

is right. There's an unbelievable

creature on the roof with fantastic

powers. Let Benji take a look, pal.

All right there, big boy. It's

clobbering time! This

guy ain't so tough. Your strength is

great, but not great enough.

Holy cow! We'd better harness that guy

before someone gets hurt. We will look at

the National Guard, Mr. Grimm. Stand

back! The ever-loving thing don't give up

that easy! Officer, clear the area. We're

gonna try and capture him. Yes, sir, Mr.

Richards.

The crowd is moving back! I will go

down and declare myself ruler!

Look out! Here he comes now!

Spread out! We may be able to take him if

we hit him from four different angles.

Flame on!

Dare you overgrown stick of dynamite!

Have a cement truck!

What manner of substance is this?Wait,

Johnny! Try the cement!

I shall blast you into eternity when I

can breathe. That should hold 'em. I have

toyed with them long enough.

He's aiming those powerful hands at us.

I'll protect us with my force field.

I don't know how long the force field

will last, Reed. Perhaps we can reason

with him. Why do you wish to destroy us?

What have you got to gain?I am Blastar,

the sole survivor of an exploded planet.

Everywhere I have tried to make a home, I

have been attacked and scorned. I

will avenge myself on all creatures,

and it is from this planet I shall wreak

my destruction.

I can't hold out much longer, Reed. What

shall we do?I have an idea. First,

Johnny will have to throw up a

smokescreen. Right, Reed. You better make

it fast. The National Guard's moving it,

and they'll get hurt.

Oh, you would

try to destroy Blastar with

machines?

We've got to distract him before he

destroys the National Guard. Get going.

Play on!

What is this, an aversion?

Enough! Now I can destroy you middles

with my mightiest blast!

There! They're out of my way at last!

That was a smart move, making those flame

images of us, Johnny. It got us out of a

tough situation. Quick, everyone!

Upstairs to the Fantasticar! Let's go!

Fire a blast to let him know we're still

alive. Gladly, Reed.

What?They're still alive!

Next time they won't be so clever.

So that was your plan, Reed. You're

leading them away from the city. Right,

Ben?The city was in grave danger with

Vlastar there. This way we can battle

with him away from others.

Look, we're going to have some help,

Reed. The plane's coming in at three

o'clock.

Well, these fools never learn.

How are we gonna stop this guy, Reed?In

an atomic reactor plant on Atlantis

Island. If they'll abandon it... What

good will an atomic reactor do?The only

thing that will neutralize Blastar's

power is an atomic pile. Get on the radio

and request they abandon the plant.

There it is below. The crew is abandoning

it. Blastar is still hot on our trail.

I'll throw a smokescreen while you set it

down, Reed. Flame on!

He knows we're down here. You three hold

him off until I get to the reactor room

and modify the equipment.

These four have more power than the

others. I must destroy them if I am

to rule unchallenged.

Uh oh, he's

here. Now to annihilate them.

Over here, brush face. Why not pick on

someone your own size?

I'll bet that's smart. You'll

pay for that with your life. If you want

me, you're gonna have to come get me.

Go on, Ben. I'll holdcame off with my

force field.

Can't hold him. I'd better turninvisible.

Where did he go?What magic is this?

Quickly, Reed! He's beating us! The

helmet is almost finished. We'll have to

lure him here as I have to keep it

connected to the atomic pile. Don't

worry. You'll be here soon enough!

My body can adjust to any extreme!

Now we'll put an end to this primitive

display!

Help me while he's stunned. I've got to

fasten this over his head. Ben,

quick! Hit the switch!

Stand back! Blast Star's got his powers

from the radioactivity of outer space. By

reversing the action in the atomic pile,

we're drawing his powers off. That's

enough, Ben. Turn off the power. We must

get him back to headquarters before he

revives.

Blastar should be safe in the time-space

machine till we figure out what to do

with him.

What are we going to do with him, Reed?

There's no jail that can hold this clown.

We will try to devise a method of

permanently reducing his power. Well, it

can't be too soon.

Hey! The time-faith machine is

running! It must be Blastar. He's managed

to turn it on. There he is!

He's going back to where he came from.

Well, he sure saved us a lot of trouble.

How's that, Ben?He's exiled himself

from Earth forever. I hope so, Ben. I

really hope so. But for

now, he's worlds away.
