of household competition-- - Oh my god.

--the friendship dominated for the second week in a row.

JULIE: April, congratulations, you

are the new head of household.

April and Maggie teamed up with their rivals

for a common cause.

When you backdoor someone, there's two steps.

One of the steps is putting up two

people that you don't want out.

Don't think it's 'cause I want y'all out.

The second step is getting those two people

not to pick the person that you want

out to play the power of veto.

At the nomination ceremony, April completed

the first step of the plan.

I have nominated Howie and Janelle for eviction.

I'm gonna compete with Maggie.

OK.

I knew at that point I was gonna be backdoored.

During the veto competition, James was forced

to watch from the sidelines.

April, here's your crown.

Ivette fought to keep her friend, James, off the block.

But at the veto meeting, April kept

her word to Howie and Janelle.

I have decided to save Janelle.

I am going to have to nominate James.

Who will be evicted next, James or Howie?

And will the friendship finish off the sovereign two?

Good evening, I'm Julie Chen.

Welcome to "Big Brother ."

It's day inside the "Big Brother" house,

and two opposing alliances have come together

to target a common enemy.

April, the pharmaceutical sales rep from Dallas,

won head of household and nominated

two housemates for eviction--

Howie from Chicago and Janelle from Miami Beach--

but these nominations were all part

of a secret plan between the friendship

alliance and the sovereign two.

The goal-- to get James out of the house.

After winning the golden power of veto,

April removed Janelle from the block and put up James.

Will the plan to evict James work,

or, after being nominated four times and avoiding eviction,

will he be able to survive again?

Tonight, the house guests will cast their vote to evict live.

And this is another double eviction week.

Once again, we'll surprise the house with the news

that another house guest will be leaving within hours.

Whoever wins HoH tonight must immediately

make their nominations.

We'll reveal the double eviction to the house a little later on.

But first, facing possible eviction,

James is doing whatever it takes to stay in the game.

Could his friend Ivette be the key to his survival?

I have decided to use the power of veto

to save Janelle off of the nomination block.

As HoH, I am going to have to nominate James.

I did decide to use the power of veto

today and replace Janelle's nomination

with James, because my ultimate goal was to backdoor James.

I was not surprised at all that April put me up.

The fact that April left Howie on instead of Janelle--

that surprised me.

For April personally, she helped herself by taking Janelle off,

but for the team, dumb, dumb, dumb move.

Because if Howie gets HoH, it is Maggie

and Ivette up on the block.

Well, at least you get to pack with me.

Yes, Howie.

You have the only idea, after seven weeks of us trying

to get you out of this house, what

it's like to pack around here.

It's time for jokes later, Howie.

James and Ivette had, like, an emotional bond, and when

the veto ceremony was over, Ivette wanted to comfort him,

hold him, I guess.

I don't know.

She needs to look at strategically

what would be smart for her, and it's not smart for her

to keep holding onto him.

It's not at all.

This was my worst case scenario.

I know.

Well, if you can convince Maggie and Beau to vote him off, then.

Since Sarah left, my relationship with Ivette

has, like, grown like it was growing in the beginning,

but her loyalty for some reason is with the Girl Scout troop.

So obviously I need Ivette to be my liaison to kind of soften

them up for me and to find out what avenues

that I need to come after.

Yeah.

James and I--

I relate to him, and I'm able to bond with him.

And he tells me that he can't trust anybody

in this house, and the only person

that he's trusted since the beginning is me.

I have told Ivette probably times the way

I feel about James and the way he's playing this game,

but it's a waste of time for me constantly

repetitively be telling her negative things about him.

So I told Ivette what she wanted to hear.

It's so funny.

I got into an argument with one of the guys

that works for me about who holds the most passing yards.

And he thought it was Elway.

He was dumb like you.

Well, don't-- don't--

Shh!

He's so loud.

You can't nap with Howie.

- I know. - Sorry.

You know, God forbid I wake somebody up

at o'clock in the afternoon from their-- from their nap,

and the-- you know, and the sun's still shining.

If anyone wants any sleep, we know how to vote on Thursday.

Good think you're not campaigning.

I guess we can campaign.

I mean, Howie you can't win a veto or an HoH since week two.

James can veto himself out and win the whole damn thing.

James started campaigning against me,

and so I started campaigning for myself.

Or maybe Howie's just playing the dumb,

uncoordinated, middle age man.

Right.

He was joking with me.

At the same time, he was making a little bit of a run

for let's get Howie out of the house

and keep me for another week to run the table

and veto myself out.

Or my zero vetoes to James' five vetoes.

If I can get Ivette and Beau to vote for me,

and if I can convince Janelle that her and I would be

a lot stronger than her and Howie,

I might be able to get this done.

I really would like to stay.

Do you know how Ivette and Beau are voting?

I think Ivette's gonna give me a vote.

You know, I haven't really talked to Beau.

You know, I need three votes, obviously.

So.

Janelle wants to win very bad, and I just

have to figure a type of proposal

that she'd be an idiot to turn down.

I probably would go farther with James,

because Howie's been kind of slacking on the competitions

lately.

It makes me wonder if I could live with myself

if I picked James over Howie.

I was talking to Janelle, and she

pinky sweared a sympathy vote.

Really?

Mm-hm.

Of course I lied.

There was no pinky swear.

I mean, I told Ivette I pinky sweared

because I wanted her to know that that vote was solidified.

And ever if you and Beau--

Beau were to vote to keep me and she didn't, it

would still be a tiebreaker, and April would still send me out.

So that way, no one would be in trouble.

I have to keep working on Ivette to see if I

can get her and Beau's vote.

If I get HoH, then obviously you and Beau don't

want me putting you two up.

I put up April and Maggie, so you decide who you keep.

I've beat the odds so far.

As long as I got Ivette in this house,

I have a fighting chance.

But now I've seen a darker side of him, and, you know what?

I don't-- I don't like him.

Because people think that I'm a weak player, all it does

is make me want to step up my game even more.

You know what, Julie?

It absolutely was.

I wanted just to really come in here for Jennifer,

and the experience, and to meet friends,

and to really just kind of do my thing,

fly underneath the radar.

And not that I didn't think I was gonna make it this far,

but if I did, that was great.

And if I didn't, I was OK, because I have a wonderful life

outside of this.

But the minute I had to step it up, I stepped it up,

and that's why I think that I won HoH and power of veto

in one week.

JULIE: Well, with Jennifer gone--

Yeah.

--it appears that you and Maggie have teamed up.

Is Maggie your new partner?

Maggie is my new partner.

We're trying to keep that a little under wraps right now,

just because after--

you know, if everything goes as planned,

and if James leaves tonight, then there will be pair.

So Maggie is a very strong player in this game,

and I feel that I've definitely stepped it up.

And her and I are gonna have to definitely pair up.

Now, Ivette is part of your alliance,

but recently you questioned her loyalty and her relationship

with James.

Where do things stand between you and Ivette?

You know what?

I love you Ivette to death.

Ivette and I are so similar, and I think that's why we butt

heads so much, but I know--

each and every day I see where Yvette's loyalty is,

and the reason she cares about James--

James is because she does have a huge, huge heart.

with the friendship, and I have faith

The last few days in sequester have been a lot of fun

and really relaxing.

It's like a vacation, because I don't have to think about game

Just the atmosphere and the scenery is wonderful,

you kind of miss the house and all the excitement

that goes along with it.

Obviously I hope to see someone from the other group,

but if Rachel showed up--

In my book, there's reasons to keep James.

I think I could go very far with James,

until he probably sold me out.

If I kept James around another week, and even if I told Howie

it was just for strategic reasons,

he would be really hurt by that decision.

Me and Howie have a great relationship.

He'll, like, flirt with me, or he'll, like, do something

that-- it'll, like, totally, like, make me laugh,

and I eat up.

I like the attention that-- that I get.

Howie's only strength is his way

of getting along with people, but even

that can get annoying at times.

Lately, Howie hasn't really been doing that well

in competitions, but I still think

that we can beat the nerd herd.

If James ends up staying in this house and Howie goes home,

I am in big trouble.

these house guests are crazy, and they wanted me

out real bad, and they just kept making

worse mistakes than I did.

And it was through fear, or nervousness, or whatever.

They just kept-- they screwed up more than I,

so that kept me there for a while.

Why do you think they wanted you out so bad?

So I didn't know until today that it--

you know, everyone says strategy, strategy, strategy,

but when they come after you for seven evictions in a row,

it's kind of like--

you take it personal, but knowing that Howie and Janelle

are still in the game, I know that this has to be strategy,

because with those two it would be very easy for April

to make it personal.

So.

Now, when Howie was HoH, he nominated you and Sarah.

Had he not done that, would you have stayed

loyal to the sovereign six?

Completely.

Yeah, that was one of the turning points--

probably one of the biggest mistakes that he

could have made in this game.

And obviously it hurt my chances,

but, I mean, when I went over to that side,

you know, first I had Eric coming after me,

and then I had Howie coming after me.

So it was kind of like--

at that point, it was like, all right,

let's see what we can do.

The whole house was after me, so I was just

trying to take out as many people

as I could before they finally caught up with me.

You got close to Ivette in this game.

Yeah.

Was that genuine, or was that strategy?

No, it was so sincere with her.

She's an amazing, amazing girl.

Her girlfriend's very lucky-- so is her family.

She's awesome.

JULIE: So you think you'll stay in touch with her then, right?

Oh, yeah.

She even has an apartment that Sarah and I might

rent out if we go down there.

Free from the threat of eviction,

that person must put two house guests on the chopping block,

and following tonight's competition,

the new HoH must immediately make his or her nominations.

Who will win HoH?

Let's head out to the backyard and find out.

House guests, the power is up for grabs.

April, as outgoing HoH, you are not eligible to compete.

Tonight's game is called playing it straight.

Here's how it works.

Each of you will have two turns to roll your bowling

ball down the narrow beam.

Each trench along the way has a point value zero through six.

You will earn points wherever your ball lands.

If your ball makes it to the end of the beam

and goes through the hole, you will receive points,

but be careful, because if your ball

falls short at the end of the beam,

you will receive zero points.

The house guest with the highest point total from both rolls

will be the new head of household.
