[screaming]

[cat meowing]

♪ Ghostbusters! ♪

♪ There's something weird ♪

♪ And it don't look good ♪

Uh-oh!

[siren blaring]

[growls]

[Slimer] Luigi, jump!

[screams]

♪ I ain't afraid of no ghost ♪

[screaming]

[Slimer] Ghostbusters!

Yeah!

♪ Who you gonna call? ♪

♪ Ghostbusters! ♪

And me, and me!

Great day to go out on a call, huh, guys?♪

[breathes deeply]

Spring is in the air!

[moans] Yeah.

[sniffs] And most of it
is gone right up my sinuses.

[sneezes]

Hay fever again, Peter?

Every spring, Egon.

[sneezes] Every spring.

And me, too.

[sneezing]

Spud, do the world a favor,

put your hand over your mouth
when you sneeze, OK?

[moaning] All right.

Okie-dokie, Peter.

[sneezing]

[all screaming]

Hey!

[moans] Sorry, guys.

[blowing]

Not half as sorry as I am, spud.

[Ray] Looks like we're here guys,
the Central Flower Market.

[Peter and Slimer sneezing]

Over here, Ghostbusters.

Where's the ghost?

- It's right down there. Third aisle.
- [car door slams]

What's it look like?

Like a bouquet with a bad attitude.

Swell. Just what I need, more pollen.

[sniffs]

Let's wrap this up fast, guys.

These flowers are...

[sneezes]

Are k*lling my hay fever.

Yeah, me too.

Gee, thanks, Peter.

My pleasure, spud.

[sneezes]

- Come on, guys.
- [Winston] Yeah, let's go.

[buzzing]

[sniffing]

[crashing, thudding]

[cawing]

[blowing]

Phew.

[yelping]

[growling]

I got him!

[sneezes]

[screams]

Peter!

- [screams]
- [growls]

Not so fast, pal.

[groaning]

[growling]

- [hissing]
- [gasps]

[ghost groaning]

Hold him, Egon!

Trap out!

[electricity crackling]

[groaning]

[Winston] Peter, where are you, man?

[Peter sneezes]

[Winston] Got you!

Thanks, Winston.

[sneezes]

There's got to be an easier way
to catch ghosts.

Sure, like what?

Well, I don't know, like, uh...

A ghost attractor.

Well, think of it, guys,

we could sit right in our
air-conditioned office and...

bring the nasties in
without lifting a finger.

Or, a hanky.

Yeah, but that wouldn't be any fun.

Besides, Peter, attracting
ghosts with a machine

is scientifically impossible.

Have you ever tried, Egon?

Well, no, but...

Well, then I'd say it's possible
and I'm going to prove it.

I'd make a million bucks doing it.

Wowie!

A million bucks?

Is that a lot of money, Peter?

[scoffs] It sure is, spud. A whole lot.

[birds chirping]

[ground rumbling]

[growling]

[crackling]

Peter?

What do you think, guys?

Wow, fantastic!

What is it?

This is my ghost-attractor,

you're just in time for the test run.

[motor revving]

Now, stand back.

We're about to start catching ghosts

in the privacy of our own home.

[buzzing]

Slimer, you're a ghost,

do you feel anything yet?

Uh-uh, I don't feel anything.

[chuckles nervously] Well, uh...

It probably needs a little adjusting.

[powers down]

Oh, hold on a sec, guys.

[ringing]

We'd better take a rain check, Peter.

[Ray] Where to, Janine?

Right there!

- [ghosts yelping]
- It flew in through the front door.

Weirdest thing I ever saw.

Not weird, Janine, scientific.

There's no logical or scientific reason
that it should work.

Well, it does and this baby
is going to make us millions.

Oh, boy!

[shrieking]

This doesn't prove anything, Peter.

It's just pure coincidence.

I don't know, Egon,

looks like we've got
some more coincidences.

- [ghosts murmuring]
- What?

Gentlemen, I rest my case.

Me too.

[yelping]

[crackling]

[growling]

[ghosts groaning]

- Thanks for the use of your wagon, Ray.
- [Ray] Don't mention it.

[ghosts yelping]

Figured it out yet, Egon?

No, it's too unscientific.

It has egg-beater parts,

a woofer and a tweeter from an old stereo.

And if I look closely,

I'm sure I'll find a hair pin
and a wad of bubble gum.

Let's see, I like that and that and...

[chuckles] That over there.

Give me five of those and a couple of nice
Hawaiian shirts to go with them.

Peter, where are you getting the bread
for all this stuff?

Credit cards, my man.

Buy now, pay later.

My ghost attractor is going to
make us all very, very rich.

Who ordered the tanning bed
and the compact disc player?

As if I didn't know.

Yo, that's me.

It is definitely performing
some kind of bizarre function.

I just can't figure out what.

[scoffs] Egon, Egon, Egon.

No need for professional jealousy here.

It works, period. End of sentence.

[sighs] Peter, until I can
get a reading off your machine,

it's all just coincidence.

A coincidence we can all live with.

I can't help it if I'm a genius.

Huh?

Sir?

[Peter] Mmm.

[sniggering]

[growling]

[both screaming]

[all screaming]

[all screaming eerily]

Number 486.

- Four eighty-six.
- [bell tolls]

[buzzing]

[groaning]

[Winston] Man, this has got to stop.

We haven't even had lunch yet.

And we're running out of space
in the Containment Unit.

Peter!

Peter, you've got to turn it off.

Yeah, business is too good.

So you admit it works?

[Egon] Of course not.

That's OK, I proved my point.

I'll just shut it off.

No more ghosts.

Nada. Zip. Zero.

[powers down]

[all ghosts cheering]

[groaning]

I turned my machine off.

Why don't they go away?

Don't ask me, you're the ghost expert.

[clearing throat]

A little quiet please.

[all groaning]

I'm Dr. Peter Venkman.
I'd like to thank you all for coming.

But, uh, we're not seeing
any more ghosts today.

[ghosts groaning]

[chanting indistinctly] Mee-Krah.

Mee-Krah.

[groans]

- Mee-Krah?
- [keyboard keys clacking]

[Egon] [reading] Mee-Krah,

a mindless force that awakens
every thousand years,

to replenish its energy
by devouring other ghosts.

Yeah, bad news.

The more ghost Mee-Krah consumes,

the higher his temperature rises.

- [keyboard keys clacking]
- Most of the world's great deserts...

{\an8}[Egon reading]

{\an8}Are the results of Mee-Krah's past visits.

This time he picked New York.

- Oh, no!
- [keyboard keys clacking]

Then all those ghosts outside

are looking for a place to hide!

Sure, if you're a ghost,

our containment unit is
the safest place in town.

You mean my ghost attractor
had nothing to do with this?

I'm afraid not, Peter.

[crackling]

[growling]

[growling]

[growling]

- [P.K.E Meter beeping]
- So where do we find this Mee-Krah?

Due west.

- You got it.
- You got it!

Left 30 degrees, Peter.

You sure about this, Egon?

We're headed back toward the city.

[Egon] So is Mee-Krah.

Take us down for a closer look.

[Slimer whimpering] He is big!

[all yelping]

[growling]

[all yelping]

- [growling]
- [Egon] Incredible.

Definitely a Class 8.

[Ray] That's fascinating, Egon,

but I'm a little busy right now.

[growling]

[Egon] It's a massive ectoplasmic energy.

In effect a giant storage battery.

[growling]

Move forward to an empty trap please.

Thank you.

[gasps]

- [crackling]
- [groaning]

Next!

- Move forward to an empty trap please.
- [gasping]

Peter, what did you guys find out?

We've got bad news and terrible news.

Bad news first.

We couldn't stop Mee-Krah.

[Winston] And the terrible news?

We're going to get another chance at it.

Because it's headed straight for us.

- [beeping]
- And according to my calculations,

It should arrive precisely at midnight.

So how do we stop this thing
from turning New York

into the Great American desert?

Hey!

Sparky feeds on ghosts, right?

Right.

So, let's leave a trail of ghosts.

We'll lead him out to sea.

Great idea!

We sure have enough ghosts to go around.

Sure you want to go on this run, top spud?

Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

[growling]

[crackling]

[growling]

OK, we've got the ocean behind us.

Do your thing.

[mee-krah growling]

[electricity crackling]

More traps, spud.

[ghosts groaning]

[howling and screaming]

[growling]

He's taking the bait.

[wind whistling]

Shoo! Wrong way! Go back!

[screaming]

[yelling] Help!

The controls are all messed up.
I'm losing it.

Slimer, help me with the traps.

Yeah, traps.

[crackling]

[groans]

[all yelping]

Man, that's cutting it close.

Phew!

Mee-Krah's changed direction again, Egon.

[ground rumbling]

[growling]

[Peter] [on pa]
Egon, Mee-Krah's changed direction again.

[Janine] And here he comes!

[ghosts trembling]

Peter, we're down to one slim chance.

Concentrate all our firepower
and hope it will stop him.

- [engine revving]
- Lead Mee-Krah to us.

We'll be waiting at
the old Hudson River pier,

across the New Jersey shore.

[siren wailing]

Just think of yourself
as a ghost attractor.

[Peter] On our way.

[mee-krah growling]

[Peter] Steady, Winston.

[growling continues]

[Peter] Incoming!

[all screaming]

[Peter grunting]

[growling]

[Peter] We definitely got
his attention, Egon.

He's coming your way.

[sirens wailing]

[tires screeching]

[Ray] End of the line, everybody out.

[Peter] Don't fire till you see
the red of its eye.

[growling]

- [c*ck g*n]
- Stand by.

[growling]

Here we go.

Switch on!

[growling]

Fire!

Duck for cover!

[banging]

[Winston] Hang on! We're out of control!

Tell me something I don't know!

[growling]

Heads up, guys. We're out of here!

[screeching]

[growling]

[tires screeching]

[ghosts screaming]

[groaning]

[moans] Next time, I take the train.

[crashing]

[tires screeching]

[Janine] It's only a few blocks back.

And moving fast!

[Peter] He's not interested in snacks.

- [ghosts yelping]
- He wants the whole enchilada,

our containment unit.

I don't think we have
enough science to beat this one, guys.

[Egon] Here's one piece
of scientific...[grunts]

Equipment we haven't tried yet.

[Winston] That thing again?

Egon, this is no time
for another one of your cheap shots.

I'm serious, Peter.

I finally figured out what you built here.

Quite remarkable really.

You've nearly created the world's first

ectoplasmic energy capacitor.

[Peter] Excuse me?

I only had to make a few
simple modifications

and now it collects and stores energy
from any ghosts near it.

There's been hundreds of ghosts near it.

One thousand and six-hundred
and-twelve to be exact.

Therefore, it should be
storing an enormous

amount of spirit energy, right now.

All it needs is something to trigger it

and all that energy will be
released into one big surge.

[growling]

[Egon] Better stand back.

[Peter] Hold it, Egon.

I built it, I'll take the risk.

It's all yours, Dr. Venkman.

Hey, you Sparky!

Come and get it.

[growling]

[Peter grunts]

♪ Ghostbusters ♪

[rapid firing]

[strained growl]

- [Slimer] Yay! You did it!
- [all cheering]

- Well done!
- It's gone! Wowie!

[sputtering and clanging]

- Peter?
- [sighs]

So much for getting rich.

Well, actually this device could be
a very valuable tool in the future.

Really?

Absolutely. We'll just use
your notes to build another.

"Notes"?

[sighs] What notes?

Oh, no!

Well, look at the bright side, Peter.

At least you stopped sneezing.

Hey, you're right!

[chuckling] I must be cured!

Yeah, me too!

[Peter] All thanks to my machine.

See, Slimer,

you can do anything as long
as you do it scientifically.

Aw.

[laughing]

[both sneeze]
