[expl*si*n]

Well, there goes another piece
of the old neighborhood.

I liked it better
when the dynamite factory was here.

I felt safer.

Say, Egon, would you mind keeping it down?

The neighbors are complaining...
From Alaska.

No, no. I think I've done it this time.

[Peter] I'll say you have.

All that's left is
to call the mayor's office

and tell him we've perfected
the art of slum clearance.

I wonder how much he'd pay us
to move to New Jersey.

Yikes!

[crashes]

I stabilized an ecto-electro
molecular destabilizing field.

God, what a breakthrough.

All I had to do was refocus
the cross-phased calameters

to produce a triple didactic
parallel overload.

Now all I have to do
is fine-tune the hydro-photonic phalanges.

I'll probably need
a new interositor, though.

In English, Egon.
In English.

Peter, aren't you listening?

I've created a Plasmic Strainer.

Oh, this is a breakthrough.

This is a real breakthrough.
This is historic.

I feel positively transformed.

Ray, I think you've been sniffing
your capacitors again.

Instead of storing the ghosts
in the Ecto Containment Unit,

we'll disintegrate them on sight.

I think it needs a little fine-tuning.

Ah, why didn't you say so
in the first place?

We did.

[speaking gibberish]

Him I expect to talk like that.
Not you two.

[speaking gibberish]

Yuck!

He did it to me again.

[speaking gibberish]

No, we've got that licked, too.

I've been working on the problem
of communicating with Slimer.

Excuse me. There must be
something wrong with my ears.

It sounded like you said
you wanted to communicate with Slimer.

You see, I've hot-wired
a votorizer synthetic speech library

to the Banana 9000.

Now, if Slimer wants to
say something to us,

all he has to do
is punch it up on the keyboard,

and the computer will speak for him.

Say something, Slimer.

I enjoy working with human beings.

I have the utmost confidence
in our mission.

Ray, stop.

Stop, Ray. I can feel it.

You need a little fine-tuning.

Listen, he slimed me
the first time we met,

and he's been looking
for a second chance ever since.

I prefer my own way
of communicating with him.

George, did the weatherman mention
anything about this?

Whoa!

[Egon] Oh, no.

This is worse than I thought.

What? We're finally gonna be
rid of Slimer.

What could be worse than that?

We're not going to be rid of Slimer.

We're gonna be inundated with hundreds of
thousands of millions of Slimers.

I'm sorry I asked.

No, listen to me.

Slimer has become
molecularly dis-coordinated.

Egon, remember what I said?

If you're gonna stay on this planet,
you have to speak our language.

Every time one of the little Slimers
hits a material object,

it shatters into a whole bunch
more little Slimers.

[speaks gibberish]

[all speak gibberish]

I love this job.

Of course.

By passing through the Plasmic Strainer,

Slimer lost his cohesion.

No surface tension.
This is incredible.

That's one word for it.
I can think of several others.

Anybody want to guess what they are?

Of course, the process
has to bottom out sometime.

[beeping]

[Ray] I was right.
Slimer can't go on shattering forever.

Past a certain point,
he can't get any smaller.

All we have to do is wait,
and all the little Slimers will come home.

How long?

[Ray] Oh, 412 years.

[all] 412 years?

Oh! [chuckles]
No, sorry.

I misplaced the decimal point.

[all sighing]

[Ray] 4,120 years.

Four thousand and...

Four thousand?

The problem is worse than that.
He won't reform.

Not ever. Slimers feed
on ambient slimic energy.

Oh, dear.

I refuse to become alarmed.
I'll wait for the translation.

Each of those little Slimers

is already trying
to grow up to be a big Slimer.

But it can't happen
without the right molecular cohesion.

The slightest little bump,
and they'll fragment again.

This is terrible.

Eventually everything on the entire planet

will be covered with
a thin layer of slime.

[groans]

Whoa!

[screaming]

Try to imagine that
multiplied a million times.

-[car tires screech]

That's my idea of a good time.

There's still a chance

if we get out there
fast enough with our Slimic Nets.

before they slime the entire city.
