Dr. Hans Zarkov and Dale Ardenhave joined me, Flash Gordon,

on a fantastic journey
into worlds where

peril and adventure await us.

NARRATOR: Led into a treacherousambush by Bruka's Giants,

the others are taken prisonerwhile Flash and Queen Fria

are caught in an icy avalanche.

[rumbling]

And now, Chapter Nine.

Monster of the Glacier.

[wind howling]

You'll never get away
with this, Captain.

But my dear, Miss
Arden, I already have.

My only regret was
losing Flash Gordon

and Queen Fria to the river.

Ming would have paidhandsomely for that pair.

The petty Ming wants
you for himself.

I care not what Bruka
does with the others,

but I would pay his priceto make you my sl*ve.

Girl to my cavern.

See that she is not harmed.

Dale Arden belongs
to Ming the Merciless.

But how do we rescue them,or even get inside the cavern?

We're safe for the moment,but we must find where

I feel the Giant's
cavern connects

with our own Orium mines.

Which is probably the waythey used to attack your miners,

and it's gonna be
our escape route.

It is not my intention

This place is worse than theLos Angeles freeway system.

but it's our ticket out of here.

FLASH: I feel like Huck Finn.

At least we're out of reachof those horrible Giant Men.

That's bothering
me a little, Flash.

Why didn't Bruka's menfollow us into the river?

I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe they know
something we don't.

That's what I'm afraid of.

Thun notices it too.

complete the circuit,

stayed with the raft,

You'll never

The creature thrives on energy.

We are safe from the
monster for the moment.

It can't get in, but
I fear we can't get out!

Perhaps we can.

Only a quarter charge left.

We have one chance to breakthrough this ice wall.

If we concentrate all thepower in our ray pistols

simultaneously--

leave us defenseless

against the creature.

ZARKOV: Our weapons are uselessagainst the beast anyhow.

FLASH: Now!

QUEEN FRIA: You did it.

Not quite.

I know, Fria, even
queens are human.

But don't give up,
we're not licked yet.

What can we do?

There is a way, if we canrecover some of our packs

that washed overboard.

creature's attention.

ZARKOV: I notice the
creature is careful

never to bring two
of its tentacles

together for more
than an instant.

[electric buzzing]

You're thinking we can
short circuit the beast.

If Thun attaches this
hook to one tentacle,

and you do the same toanother, the metallic rope

will complete the circuit.

Easier said than
done, but worth a try.

[growls]

Now it's my turn.

ZARKOV: Queen Fria hasreopened the Orium mines.

Soon we will have the powersource to fight Ming openly.

I hope they can
repair our rocket ship.

And fly it to Arboriawith a full load of Orium.

THUN: There's ourtransportation back to Arboria.

Mongo's rocket railroad.

But Ming controls
the rocket trains.

FLASH: He'll never
notice if we borrow one.

Here it comes.

FLASH: We'd better get going.

I'm worried, Doctor.

What if the rocket train triesto blast through the barricade?

detour, but we have

urgent business in Arboria.

we're ready to leave.
