01x02 - The Menace of Magneto

Post by bunniefuu »

Though they crash landed safely, the

strange and powerful rays had changed

each one of them, transforming their

leader, Reed Richards, into the

plastic-skinned Mr. Fantastic.

Sue Richards into the now you see her,

now you don't, Invisible Girl.

and been grimmed into a mighty muscled

powerhouse called The Thing.

Now together with Herbie the Robot, the

newest member of the group, they have

become the greatest team of superheroes

the world has ever known.

The new Fantastic Four.

On the outskirts of New York City, a

strange and silent vehicle ominously

approaches a lonely service station. It's

gliding along without any wheels. Not

even the sound of a motor. What can I

do for you, mister?Tell me how to reach

the famous Baxter Building. It's a long

way from here. You'd better get some gas.

Nobody tells me what to do.

Besides, fuel is for lesser men.

My vehicle needs no gas. You're

putting me on. Every car needs

gas. Oh, witless young fool.

This is not every car. And

nobody may dare contradict me. For

when they do, I get angry.

When I get angry, things begin to happen.

No! Now it's impossible! To

me, nothing is impossible. I can do

anything. And if you still don't believe

me... I believe you! I believe you!

No more! Please, no more! I believe you!

Then stand aside, for I grow

bored with this charade. How

simple it is to fill the hearts of men

with fear. But I have tarried long

enough. I must not waste my power on

others when it is time for the Fantastic

Four to tremble before the

Menace of Magneto. A

short time later, the amazing vehicle

reaches the heart of New York City.

Look, dear, what's that?I don't know. It

must be advertising something. There

is my destination, the Baxter

Building, the headquarters of my intended

victims, the Fantastic Four.

The streets are too crowded, but

Magneto will not be delayed. Let

others waste their time in traffic jams.

Let them stare with amazement in their

shocked and startled eyes.

Magneto is a law unto himself.

Magneto wins, Magneto

does. Hey,

Matt, you can't park there. It's a

no-parking zone. The very

sight of that sign offends me.

And whatever Magneto finds offensive

must always be destroyed!

Meanwhile, 40 stories above the ground in

the skyscraper headquarters of the

Fantastic Four.

Careful, Herbie. I'm about to checkmate.

I do not compute how you can do it. After

all, there are still some things humans

can do better than robots. You gotta be

out of your mind, stretcho. Playing games

with a squeaky, holly-headed tin can.

Quiet, Ben. I'm trying to concentrate on

my invisibility exercises. If I don't

practice every day, my power may grow

stale. And we never know when our lives

may depend on me being able to make

something turn invisible. I wish I could

turn invisible. I'm embarrassed at

losing. I did it, Herbie. I

checkmated you. Hey, what's the big deal,

pal?Anybody can beat a walkin' hunk of

nuts and bolts. I demand an

apology.

There's a buzzer signal. There's a

gentleman named Magneto downstairs to see

you, sir. Magneto?Sorry, I don't know

anyone of that name. Tell him we're busy.

We can't see him. Sorry, sir. The

Fantastic Four are too busy to see you.

Nobody is too busy to see Magneto.

Stay back. That elevator is private, for

their use only. Perhaps this will change

your mind. Stop.

What are you doing?

I am proving that nobody can deny

Magneto. You... You

made the elevator obey you with

just a gesture. Who are you?

How do you do it?I am

Magneto. I answer to none.

Intruder alarm. Kirby, to your post. My

sensors compute the intruder is unarmed.

Then we'll admit him and see what he

wants. Must be that Magneto person. But

how did he get in here?Past the locked

elevator. You are the

Fantastic Four. Hey, tell

us something we don't know. I am

Magneto. I am the

master of magnetism. How about

that?We're all shook up. Silence

him. This is no laughing matter.

I won't force any member of my team to be

silent. Indeed. But

it will not be your team much longer.

Though they call you Mr. Fantastic, I

am more powerful than you. And

lest you think mine is but an idle

ghost, remember. He who

possesses the power of magnetism has

absolute power over anything made of

metal. I trust I have

satisfactorily demonstrated my

point, but if you should

require more convincing... Hey,

hey, what's happening?Come back here!

There is no limit to the

things I can do, but

these are merely simple pranks,

hardly worthy of the great Magneto.

I do not normally play to the crowds

or use my power for casual entertainment.

I merely wanted to make it

crystal clear. That is why I

shall be the new leader of the Fantastic

Four. From now on, you will all

take orders from me. Step aside,

Stretcho. If you ain't gonna clobber him,

let me do it. Reed, why are you just

standing there?Why don't you say

something?Do something! Easy, Sue. Let's

learn more about him first. You shall

have your chance, Richards. I

challenge you to battle. I

will see if he's bluffing, or if he

really is more powerful than I. Ben.

Open up the workout room. Sure. I

figured you wouldn't want to mess up the

living room after Herbie finished

vacuuming it. If he tries any funny

stuff, haul it. When that door opens

again, I shall be the new leader of the

Fantastic Four. All right, Magneto.

Let's see if you're as good as you say

you are. But I need not sully my

own hands on you, not when everything

metal obeys my every command.

There's nothing I cannot control, not

even a thing's heaviest weight. Oh

clever, Richards, can fast. But you

cannot escape me forever. My magnetic

power can overcome anything.

you're in, Magneto. Now it's my turn.

I warned you, Richards. This time

you've met your match. Maybe I have,

but you can't talk yourself to victory.

Magneto can do more than talk.

I can't move. Are you

satisfied, Richards?See how

easily I have beaten you. The battle

is ended. I have proven my case. The

rest of you may come in now.

Reed, are you all right? How'd he do it,

Stretcho?My sensors tell me something

is not right. Forget it, Herbie. I

guess I couldn't win them all. The

victory is mine. Therefore,

the Fantastic Four is mine.

Magneto is your new leader.

I still can't understand how he defeated

you so quickly. I'm sorry about that. I

feel as if I've let all of you down.

Maybe I should have fought him. I'd have

clobbered the bump. I didn't hear you

volunteer. Who asked you?First thing

Magneto will do is swap you for a good

second-hand dust mop. Those

are fighting birds. Choose your weapon,

you melancholy misanthrope! Hey, you

tin-headed little twerp! If that means

what I think it means! Silence! Your

leader has arrived. I am here to

announce your first mission under

Magneto's command. I have

learned that the City National Bank is

about to be robbed. A Fantastic

Four shall foil the robber's plans.

Are there any questions?Yes,

I have one. How do you know the bank will

be robbed?Yeah, what did the robbers do?

Taking an ad in the paper?Even Stretcho

never came up with a dumb announcement

like that one. Be fair, Ben. We have to

give Magneto a chance. I don't get

it. What are you siding with him for?

Something is wrong. My sensors tell me

Reed Richards is behaving strangely.

Hey, stop butting in whenever I'mtalking.

That was ungentlemanly of you. This will

teach you a lesson.

Where is he?Where is he?Boy, I'll tangle

his transistors, and in ungod

silence! I'll hear no more of your

petty squabbles. From now on, you will

obey my orders and not fight among

yourselves. I'm ashamed of you, man.

You've got to obey Magneto. What's with

you, man?You act like you want him to be

the boss. Richards realizes that I am the

one who must lead you. Is that not right?

If you say so. Now to business.

We will go to the bank in two cards. I'll

take mine and you take your fantastic

card. And we will all meet there in

to the bank?We will break in and take the

money ourselves. HuhYou

gotta be kidding! You mean we're gonna

steal it?Of course not. We are

merely protecting the money so that the

bank robbers cannot get it. When the

robbers get to the bank, there will be

nothing for them to steal. Then we

will capture them. Only Magneto

could have thought of such a plan.

Criminals will not have a chance against

us. We won't waste time solving

crimes as you did in the past. From now

on,We'll reach the spot before our

enemies and prevent the crime from

happening. And now?Your

leader must depart.

But Magneto waits for no mere

elevator.

What happened?I thought I was going down.

You are. Now.

Why are you dressed so funny?

Your insolent remark is an offense to

my dignity. You should never question

your betters.

Gangway!

What's wrong?

He's simply learned a little lesson and

is eager to go home and study it. Reed,

you're not really going to follow

Magneto's incredible plan, are you?Yes,

Sue. We'll do exactly as he says. I've

never known you to be this way before.

It's almost as if you're afraid of him.

I'm sorry, Sue. All I can ask you to do

is trust me. I just don't

understand you, Reed. Here they come. You

are right on time. Good. What do we do

now?In order to enter the bank, we must

get past that guard.

Sue, use your power of invisibility.

My hat!

My hand! Everything's

vanishing. Help!

Now, into the bank. Richards,

deactivate the burglar alarm.

Now, use your strength to open the doors.

Good, good Follow me to the

vault.

Stand back. I'll use my own power

for this. Now,

inside.

Quickly, carry it to my car. How come

your car?I've no time for questions.

Put the money inside. The

three of you will return to headquarters.

Wait there until you hear from me. Where

are you going with the money?I'll put it

somewhere where it will be safe, so the

bank robbers can't find it. And now,

farewell.

Did you see that?He was laughing at us

as he left. Oh, you must think we're a

bunch of idiots. Reed, we're just

standing here while he makes off with the

money. Yes, I know.

But why, Reed? Why did we let him do it?

And what's even worse, why did we help

him to do it?Remember, I asked you to

trust me, Sue. I promise. You

mean you know we helped that creep get

away with the bank's money?That

makes it even worse. Only a nut would

have helped Magneto to rob that bank. And

only a bigger nut like me would have gone

along with you. There's our headquarters

now. Let's set her down carefully, Ben.

And once again, I'll ask you, trust me

just a little while longer.

We're back, Herbie. Did you carry out my

orders?Yes, I ex*cuted them to the

letter. What orders? You'll find out in a

minute, Ben. Is the proboscope all set up?

It's over there. I've kept Magneto's

car under observation every minute, just

as you told me to. Good, Herbie. I knew I

could count on you. My special proboscope

lenses are able to pick out anything, no

matter how dark it is. Perfect.

There he is. I see Magneto now.

Once this money is loaded onto my

helicopter, I'll fly over the border

where no one will ever find me. I'll be

rich, rich beyond any man's wildest

dreams. That's it. We've got the evidence

we need. Well, don't just stand there.

Let's go. Wait a minute. Why has your

mood suddenly changed?Yeah, you've

been letting that big-talking yo-yo push

you around up until now. So why should we

follow you, just 'cause you say so?

Because this is the chance we've been

waiting for. It's all part of my master

plan. Your master plan?

Right. Let's go, and I'll show you what I

mean. The money

is paper, so I can't lift it with my

magnetic power. But I don't care. I've

got all the time in the world. Once it is

loaded on the ship, I'll... Wait!

What's that?The Fantastic Four!

What are they doing here?They're

attacking. But I'll take care of them.

Ben, only your strength can save us now.

Lift the sides of the car hard as you

can. Now steady it.

Steady it. Harder.

That's it. Good work, Ben. You saved

us that time. Yeah, well, don't celebrate

yet. That costume creep is up to

something else now. I'll use my power to

bring them to the ground. It'll be easier

to destroy them at close range.

Down! Down!

My magnetic power will force you

down! What do we

do now, Stretcho?Just head for cover and

follow my orders. Okay, Sue, you know

what to do. Yes, Magneto's car!

There it is! Or should I say, there it

was!If he can't find it, he can't use it

to escape. Now the money bags, Sue.

I found 'em! Which is

more than Magneto will be able to do.

These petty tricks cannot stop

me! Don't bet on it. Face it,

Richards! We both know the greater

power is mine! What makes you so sure?

Very well. If I must prove my

superiority again, I shall be happy to

do so. Observe!

That was just for starters, Richards.

You will not be able to dodge steel

rails.

I don't have to dodge the magneto. Not

when I can make my body thin enough to

squeeze right through them. Now suppose

we put aside these childish games and get

down to business. Childish games, are

they?I'll show you how childish they

are. No one marks the

power of Magneto!

Nice try, Magneto. And I'm not

exactly powerless myself.

I've only been toying with you till

now, but my patience is at

an end. I don't like the sound of that,

Sue. I better give Stretcho a hand.

No, Ben. Orders are orders. Reed

told us to stay undercover. Nuts! Why

should he have all the fun?I defeated

you once, and I shall do it again!

No, Magneto. I let you win before, in

order to learn your plan, to trap you.

But now the victory belongs to the

Fantastic Four. Fool! Have

you forgotten my invincible magnetic

power?No mere weapon can

stop me. With but a gesture,

I can destroy it or turn it against you.

Behold! I'll make it leap from your

hand and make you its target.

Now! Not this time,

Magneto. This time I'm fighting for real.

It's impossible! It

cannot be! Nothing can

defy my magnetic power! The

Fantastic Four can. You're finished,

Magneto. Surrender. You have no

other choice. Why?Why

will the g*n not obey me?

My power is gone.

I'm helpless.

Magnetism! It was my

greatest weapon. And without it,

I am lost. It's over, Magneto.

You're having a chance. I surrender.

I give up. Anything.

Anything! Without my

power, I cannot fight.

And the battle is ended.

The signal. Orders from the

Fantastic Four. close in. Take

Magneto prisoner.

Ohh Here come the police. You won't be

lonely much longer. Okay, Richards.

We'll take care of him now. First, tell

me. How did you do it?How

did you take away my power?

I didn't, Magneto. I merely tricked you.

You lie! I couldn't control your

g*n! You made me lose my

magnetism! You're wrong. I just

guessed that you'd overlook one simple

thing. Your magnetic power only works on

metal, like all magnets. But my g*n

isn't real. I made it out of wood,

specially to fool you. What?

A wooden g*n?That's why your

power didn't work. And it's why you're a

prisoner of the police now. Take 'em

away, man. A wooden g*n.

He tricked me with a wooden

g*n. We're back,

Herbie. Everything worked perfectly.

Hey, listen, I'm feeling so good.

I ain't even gonna fight with Tin Head

here. I'm so proud of you, Reed. You

really weren't afraid of Magneto. Of

course not. I just wanted him to think I

was. I always knew Magneto didn't really

win that fight. Oh, yeah? Why, it's great!

Prove it! Even though Magneto seemed more

powerful, he was missing the most

important quality any leader must

possess. Knock off the speech-making and

get to the point, Shorty! What quality

was Magneto missing, Herbie?The most

valuable of all. The reason he could

never beat Reed RichardsEvery leader

must have something more than strength.

He must have the quality of wisdom. Hey,

you know something? For once, I agree with

that turkey. And that's why

Stretcho and me are such dynamite

leaders. We're both big and wisdom. We

got a lot of smarts, right, pal?You say

so, Ben. Reed, I have an idea. A new

disco opened up downstairs. Oh, and you

want to complain about the noise? No,

silly. I want to go dancing. Terrific.

I thought you'd never ask. Yeah. They're

leaving me alone, with Herbie. Don't be

jealous, Benjamin. I can learn to dance.

Sorry, Rattlehead. You ain't my type, you

know?In fact, even if you was my type,

you wouldn't be my type. Don't take this

personally, but even Magneto was more

fun than you.
