(Caitlin sighs)

- You give Griffin anything he wants including a car.

- Griffin proved to us he was responsible enough to drive.

(Caitlin sighs)

- Just because I borrowed

your car once. (Jim sighs)

- You stole it and crashed it.

(machinery clinking)

(men groaning) - Hey give me that!

- Hey stop him!

(Charlie groaning)

(Jim sighs)

- [Caitlin] I don't believe it, that's Charlie.

Why is it that just when I wanna forget my past

it comes back to stare me in the face again?

You know a few years ago I was giving Bret and Griffin heck

for speeding on their skateboards,

today I'm chasing a squeegee kid

who ripped Phil Gibbins off for 63 bucks.

(trunk clinks)

I just don't get it.

- Hey dad, my transmission's sounding a bit rough,

(Griffin sighs)

- [Dori] He's just upset about that squeegee kid.

Hey I thought we were practicing?

- Every year you sign us up

for the mother son golf tournament.

- Yeah every year we play.

- Griff it's not about winning,

it's about me walking 18 holes

with my favorite son. (Griffin sighs)

- But golf is boring. (Dori laughs)

(birds chirping)

- Okay, but this year we're gonna win 'cause I have a plan.

(phone ringing)

(horse snorts)

- [Charlie On Phone] Caitlin?

- Charlie.

- It's been a long time.

(Caitlin sighs)

- Yeah yeah it has.

What are you doing in High River?

- It's where my ride ended.

I'm heading to California, gonna catch some waves.

- You're hitchhiking?

- It's hard to get rides

so I thought I'd try and grab a little cash,

maybe take a bus or something.

And when I saw you man I was surprised.

(Caitlin laughs)

- Yeah yeah it was for me too.

- So you live with a vet?

Oh the name was on the truck.

Hey why don't I come out and check out your place?

- No.

No how about I meet you in town at the diner later okay?

- I'll meet you there in an hour.

(phone clicks)

(Caitlin sighs)

- [Dori] She's a ruminant she'll eat the grass.

- Relax, I fed her before we left.

You know.

The internet says the llamas are the future of golf.

They're natural pack animals,

and they have really light feet

so they wont' damage the fairway.

- Well they're also unpredictable and they.

- Spit.

Oh come on. (Dori laughs)

Least we'll win points for the most original team.

- I didn't know they gave points for that.

(llama groaning)

(Dori sighs)

(birds chirping)

and we drive to the coast together?

Yeah we go to a place (Caitlin laughs)

where it's warm all the time.

No more freeze their butts off.

(Caitlin laughs)

- Charlie look.

It's different for me here.

I mean I don't cut school so much and I have a horse.

- A horse?

I can respect that.

You've moved up in the world.

- Yeah well.

You know the family I live with she's my cousin.

They aren't like a foster family, they wanna adopt me.

(soft music)

(Charlie laughs)

I'm driving this thing to the coast.

- Oh this is bad, this is very bad.

(Caitlin sighs) - Caitlin come on.

I mean what happened to you?

This is fun.

We drive together.

- You're the sheriff, do something.

- Griff get a grip, maybe it got towed.

- Towed?

That would imply I parked illegally, which is impossible.

Okay maybe it's not impossible but I know I didn't!

- Highway patrol is out looking for it.

It's an easy car to spot.

Whoever took it won't get far.

(car engine revving) - Gonna have to deal with me.

- Jim will have every cop in the county

looking for this car.

You won't get five miles in it.

Look I gotta go.

- Okay!

I'll hide the car.

But you're gonna have to help me get out of High River.

I need more money.

(dramatic music)

(car engine rumbling)

- [Griffin] Can't you go any faster?

- [Jim] I'm doing the limit.

- [Griffin] I bet they're not doing the limit!

- Now Caitlin's really jealous that Griff's driving.

You don't think that she?

- Stole his car?

She's not going back to her old ways Jim, she's changed.

- Yesterday she asked me if I trusted her.

- I didn't answer.

I guess I'm still not sure.

(tense music)

(bell on door dinging)

(car horn honking in distance)

(Caitlin sighs)

- Can you believe it?

My car is gone!

Some creep stole it.

I only had it for like a month.

(Caitlin sighs)

- Just leave me alone all right?

- It's for a friend, I said I'd help him out.

He needs the money.

- Some friend if he's making you sell your camera.

You love that camera, your mother gave it to you.

- I don't know what else to do.

(Griffin laughs)

(Griffin laughs)

(Caitlin sighs)

- Look it's just that, I mean I was having fun with Charlie.

It was like the old days.

But then one thing lead to another and he needed money

so I stole it from Dori.

- You?

She thought she lost it.

- Oh.

It's just that we always helped each other out.

I thought I owed him.

- All right Caitlin he's blackmailing you.

If you give in to what he says

he'll never leave you alone!

- I know.

It's just that my life has been a complete horror show

since Charlie showed up.

- Is that true?

(dramatic music)

- Yeah.

- You're not her friend.

Look Caitlin what you're doing is crazy,

you're gonna get caught.

And forcing Caitlin to help is even worse.

- [Griffin] Caitlin he stole my car!

He deserves what's coming to him.

Charlie I've changed a lot.

I wanna stay here.

I'm tired of being scared and alone.

- Well you remember that time that I got

kicked out of that foster home and I had nowhere to go?

And you were the one who gave me food

and took me to a movie.

When I got cold you gave me your jacket

and I fell asleep and you bought tickets for the next show

so they wouldn't wake me up.

- Yeah I remember.

- We're even now Charlie, I can't cover for you anymore.

- And what about the sheriff?

- I'm gonna tell him what I did.

I'm gonna give back the CD's and pay back the diner.

- You got nothing on her now.

- Things are never gonna change for you

if you keep running away.

(car doors opening)

(car doors closing)

(car engine revving)

I have to go back to the pawn shop.

I have to pay Dori back.

(car engine revving)

(bell on door ringing)

Well.

Guy said he'd hold my camera for a month.

If I can get the money I can buy it back.

(Griffin sighs)

- You can have my next months allowance

for a price of course.

- Thanks.

- It's what families are for.

(Griffin sighs)

So.

Are you really gonna tell dad?

- Yeah.

- He's gonna flip.

- Yeah.

- I'll tell him it wasn't your fault.

Maybe he'll go easy on you.

- [Caitlin] This is the hardest thing I've ever done,

but I have to be straight with Jim and Dori, I know that.

And I know that I deserve what's coming to me.

And maybe Charlie will change, maybe he won't.

But I'm just glad that I'm not where he is right now

because I could've been in a heartbeat.
